I just hope this arc will have new crewmates, some characters (like Barto) are incredibly popular and it would be a waste not to have them around(joining or not i hope Barto&Cavendish will still follow the Strawhats as allies)
Even thou this arc will be direct connect of the next one (where Nami and the other are) so maybe we won't know who will join very soon. -
I doubt it as Smoker and Tashigi will most certainly return on that arc.
Yeah, I have to concur with GetsugaZoro here, why is that a certainty?

He deserves to do something fun with the crew before all the plot kicks into endgame.
Unfortunately, there seems to be a lot less scope for random exploration and the like in The New World.
It seems like pretty much every island is an important chess piece that'll have been claimed by one big player or another.

I don't think he outright said it but we've had at least 3 teases for it so far. Urogue landing there, Luffy being so interested in its very log and then Nami talking about it in Weatheria. As far as I'm concerned all that was promise enough. Still, it's going to be claimed by some big shot I'm sure.

In my opinion the lighning island stands just for the higher level of danger in the NW.
Doubt the SHs will actually go there, when we will hear about it, we still have Urouge who could do that in the future. -
Also since the first island that Urogue landed on in the new world was Raijin Island than it would seem to me that the SH would have to go backwards in the New World to get to that island. While it would be oil i doubt that they will go there in the future but maybe we will se Urouge's adventures there. It would be really cool to go through all the supernovas on cover pages or mini arcs just to see what they have been up to.

They certainly don't have any and don't even accept the concept of swordwoman. That's why bringing back Tashigi in Wa would be interesting
PS: for those that miss the previous page of discussion, I'm not arguing that Tashigi will join at all.

There's no flashbacks that showed otherwise that her childhood was evil and crap. How did you think they gain their Devil Fruit Powers? It was all thanks to Doflamango. Why did you think Sugar looked like a young child even after a decade of being the same age as Dillinger? Why did Monet have bird body parts even though in a flashback it's shown that she had human limbs? There will be a time where we will feel sorry for both Monet and Sugar and probably figure out what they're last names are supposed to be? Maybe even a Cover story chapter or hell even in the main storyline we will find out the truth about who they really are. I am not going to be on a train saying that she deserves to die or that she was a filler character that's just fodder to die. All I'm suggesting is that we cannot jump to conclusions too quick. Even Oda sometimes foreshadows things in 700 chapters ago and suddenly it hit us hard like "Damn!" Just keep a open mind and try not to hate a character too soon. Ok. :/

The majority of that is just baseless conjecture. It'd be different if there was some solid evidence to tie it all up. But there isn't. It's trying to loosely tie unrelated things together to create a desired outcome. There is straight up NOTHING the indicates that Monet will join the crew. Like, at all. I'm not saying we won't get some backstory on Monet. I'm not saying that we won't sympathize with her a bit. But a tragic backstory does not make a Strawhat.
Also, a friendly reminder; MONET POISONED CHILDREN. In like one of the few instances in the entire series of "This is entirely 100% morally bad". Not exactly protagonist material.

Well, I liked Monet but she's gone. Like, forever. I mean, sure she might have a sad past and so on, but I don't think we're ever gonna see it, unless briefly mentioned. There's no point in it being "main storyline" or even "Strawhat", Oda has itnroduced dozens of cool characters that bumped into the SH but he almost never got beyond a simple presentation and that's it…even with characters that had a much higher chance to join. Like Paulie, remember him? We never found out what was behind his gamblings or why he was so strict with women. He was just a cool characters like many others, but he was part of "that arc" and once it was over, bye bye. Same like Gaimon, Wiper, Marguerite...and Monet as well. I might be wrong, but that's what I think...

I'm certainly curious about that, and more to the point, how and why? She was already a logia so rather than being damaged like the other transplants she doesn't seem likely to have suffered catastrophic body damage and just let Law experiment on her.
There's certainly a lot of her story to explore. -

Surely, the best way of setting up a character joining is to have her be absent for literally 100 chapters beforehand. That sure seems like something a writer with a modicum of foresight would do.

The next Strawhat if we follow this thread is going to be someone we've met. I think that sums up the discussion.
Now that we are pretty much at the end of this arc maybe the next Arc will offer us more insight into the next Strawhat.Personally I just don't want another Robin/Nami big breasted looky Likey. Or someone who has done evil deeds. So definitely no Monet for me. Or Bellamy or Caeser Clown or Violet or Doffy or Rebecca .
I also doubt it will be someone leading a crew or well established in a crew. So no Law and no Bartolomeo (sadly :( ) or Kidd or Bonney or Bepo or Penguin or Blackbeard.Odds wise it does look like a DF user is likely. The crew currently have 4 and with an extra member they would have 10 total so another DF user would even them up a bit.
To be honest my ideal based purely on what I would like would be Wicca or Kinemon as the newt full member.
Wicca hasn't been shown much at all but there is something uniquely charming about her that also makes me feel like she would fit in well.
Kinemon has just naturally fit into the group just fine. But I think he might be the Vivi of the group. Kinemon of course would have to join solo.No Momonosuke please. Anything but him. I'll take Doffy over him. I'll take Blackbeard over him!

Hey Monet isn't that evil, she did request Law to use his Ope Ope no Mi to heal the ex-prisoners of Punk Hazard (not saying she is not evil).
Anyway, Monet's chances of joining are completely reliant on Oda actually bringing her back into the story and focusing more on her character. As things are now, there just isn't enough to conclude that Monet will be one of the next nakama.

Can't speak for others. But me; I would like her to join simply because she having knowledge of astronomy (is this confirmed, can't remember) would make her relevant for a space arc. Note that I'm not saying any of this will happen, I'm just saying I would like if it happened because personally, I would love an arc set in space.
