Oddly…my favorite part of the chapter is Sabo and Burgess' chat......that panel where Sabo warned Burgess....chills. Amazing. Nothing beats Sabo referring or speaking about a period we never saw him actively involved with.
-
Next chapter is either gonna end with Luffy getting Haki or him defeating Dofla. I feel like Oda wants to drag this arc a little more, so Dofla is not gonna be defeated that quickly lol. Watch the next 4 minutes go by slower than 6 minutes did tho
You know all great writers, as great as they may be, sometimes hit writer's block. If this arc was stretched out more than it was originally intended it may be because all the subsequent events that come after have to go through a quality assurance test so that where the crew's adventures may lead them next, it's carefully crafted with detail and as accurately as the writer imagined it to be, the world building in One Piece is head and shoulders above its peers and I think Oda wants to deliver something great, not just rush into it and make it up as he goes along. Yes, there's always an element of making shit up but if Luffy is going to be delving into Yonkou territory soon it simply cannot be rushed or we're going to get yet another mediocre arc, with unimaginative Tontattas type of creatures serving as the damsels of distress in an arc. (Along with convoluted plot points that can't be afforded enough attention because of running the risk of bad pacing).

It very well could be Kizaru who came in to save the day. I'd actually like to see that happen and see how the Straw Hats keep from getting arrested.
You know Zoro might be finally slipping. He told Hadrudin by the time he wakes up the Bird Cage would be gone. After that didn't Zoro recite his Budhist poem saying there is nothing he couldn't cut? Pushing or not if his Hakified blades are against that cage he can't cut them. Too bad, he had a good run too.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here, why would Kizaru want to enter from the sky lol. Aiding another admiral when he never asked for it would be a slap to his face "you're clearly incompetent as an admiral so I'm here to show you how it's really done" I don't think Oda would treat a newly introduced admiral like that. I mean look at his treatment of Sabo, the wonderboy is seemingly unstoppable and is on fire (pun intended)
-
It was a long range lariat. Basically a swoop of air.. and haki imbued air is not a thing that exist in onepiece I think
It does exist. That's Zoro cut Monet's lower eye.

I've said this before but Zoro doesn't know, not even now, that there is a magical princess running around reviving everyone. When he made that statement there's obviously a lot of events and characters actions he couldn't have factored in. (but I guess that's particularly why you're mocking him because he made such a confident statement, but maybe he thought his captain would have finished Doffy in time) I wouldn't dismiss his ability to cut the strings just quite yet, he may end up doing so in a few chapters.
After all, if one man can put up such a contraption there should be another man who can cancel it out, according to him anyway, his attitude is unlike Viola's "I've never even thought about stopping it" a stark contrast between the strong willed and the weak willed, on the one hand some characters never give up and like to think outside the box, others take things for face value and just accept whatever outcome they make themselves believe is the inevitable.

I never troll or bait people, but if I did you would have been my first hook! ;)

Was it haki though or her naively thinking that he missed his attack and she successfully avoided it. It's shown that if you don't anticipate getting hit you can be in your default form, not in your logia form. An example of this would be when Luffy flew into Smoker and Ace in the Alabasta arc, no way could he have had haki for him to be able to make contact with him, right?

He doesn't want to drag it, he's only hurting himself
He wants it to be well developed and ensure all plots and sub-plots are resolved.

He used it to show off to her he could use CoA. The fake CoA slash wouldn't have worked if Monet did not know Zoro could cut her.

I found the way Sabo baited Burgess by hinting he was Lucy and as such giving him a reason to attack most interesting and quite smart from Oda.

3 to Birdcage and 4 to Luffy? Nice, under the factory everyone and sadly Zoro could not do a thing.
-
Either Zoro and Co. will slow down the birdcage or Mansherry could just heal Luffy but…. I especially loved the panel of Law just sitting there going "......"
-
After this arc there are going to be many mysteries and plot holes that Oda is going to have to explain.
-
Why didn't Bartolomeo use his power against the birdcage?
-
Why didn't Law use his power to teleport people out of the birdcage?
-
How come the marines are not trying to stop Doflamingo?
-
How come Usopp or Robin did not tried to stop Doflamingo?
-
How come Law never tried to cut Doflamingo into pieces at the iron bridge like he did with Vergo?
-
How come Doflamingo never tried to control Luffy and Law?
So many questions
-
-
So Burgess could easily go get the ability of Law..Pica..Mansherry. …even Doflamingo who is barely standing....But targets Sabo instead. ..how lame
-
Something different… Now we have seen Spartan as well after all the time... So if I remember correctly the only one missing is Gambia... Where the fuck is he?

No sign of Damask, the Fighting Lion (Agyo), Jean Ango, or Acilia either, as far as I've seen.

So many questions
Mysteries maybe, but plot holes? Nah.
- We know Barto only has a limited amount of area where he can apply his barriers. Chances are this moment he can't create a barrier big enough to protect everyone. Some people could very will get blocked out and get sliced or crushed against his barrier. He just might do something later there is still time.
- Law was doing everything he could to end Doflamingo, he was even ready to fight to the death. Like the kids at Punk Hazard he isn't the type to help the random citizens and he had no reason to teleport the Straw Hats out of the cage while they were still fighting the executives and taking care of other factory destroying errands. At this point he probably could if his one working hand allows him, but why? Doffy is almost out and there is still time to save himself and his allies.
- Some of the Marines do want to stop him but they are taking orders from Fuji who has some motivation to let things go as far as they possibly can. This is not something that will just be swept under the rug. We'll know why soon enough, or a better understanding anyway.
- Robin already told others that they should not get in-between Luffy and Doflamingo, they would only get in the way. She pointed to Law as an example of what could happen to them. Now though who knows? Luffy is helpless and might need some long range assistance.
- In all likelihood during their fights Law did try to cut Doflamingo into pieces, but Doflamingo is too fast and has good Haki. There was no way Doffy would let something like that hit him, after all Doffy knows all about Law's abilities. Judging by the fight on Green Bit with slash marks everywhere we can assume they came from all 3 fighters involved.
- This is the real question here. There had better be a darn good reason when all of this is said and done. Not only that, but the spider web attack that caught Jozu and Sanji. If Doffy doesn't attempt to use these moves or if we don't get an explanation why they wouldn't have worked I will be very disappointed in Oda.
-
-
@joekido:
- Why didn't Bartolomeo use his power against the birdcage?
He was paralyzed. Now that he can move he either going to help pushing or confront Doffly. It's not like his barrier is big enough to cover whole birdcage. He needs the other actually pushing against it to actually be useful. Limited area and stuff.
- Why didn't Law use his power to teleport people out of the birdcage?
He is out. Last time he was even crawling to get to Doffly or the little room for Trebol so swapping that many person is a no go for now. He can probably save himself tho if he can manage to encompass something from outside the cage in his room. but even that would be problematic.
- How come the marines are not trying to stop Doflamingo?
Fuji order them not to.
- How come Usopp or Robin did not tried to stop Doflamingo?
Not really Usopp style and he's with Violet. As for Robin she is injured and trust her captain.
- How come Law never tried to cut Doflamingo into pieces at the iron bridge like he did with Vergo?
Doffly wasn't stupid enough to let him make a giant swing and constantly pressure him.
- How come Doflamingo never tried to control Luffy and Law?
Most likely wouldn't work. Bastille got hit by parasite but wasn't affected.
If it's about stopping their movement, it's pretty useless for Law who swaps and slice. For Luffy I guess he didn't get the chance since they 've been going at without much breath and Gear 4th left him no breathing space.–- Update From New Post Merge ---

He did use Spider Web against Luffy.
The move he used against Sanji and Jozu was most likely Parasite as well, thanks to the signature hand gesture the move has.

Did you take his worlds literally.
I'm pretty sure you know parasite type hand gesture and spider web are different. But just checking

Yeah I thought about that scene, but I do wonder why he hasn't attempted to trap Luffy in the web? There he used it as a shield and I suppose it counts but he didn't hide it and surprise Luffy like he did Sanji. In the beginning we didn't see Dofy's string because thats how Oda plays brand new powers he doesn't want formerly revealed yet but since he is still floating around on invisible string I have to assume he can make an invisible(or nearly invisible) web as well to snare a victim. Even if he can't and for what ever reason Sanji just couldn't see the web he was caught in I want to see if it can hold all the force of an enraged Luffy.
Same goes for Parasite, I thought for sure at some point people like Luffy and Zoro would be clashing. I want to know why it hasn't been attempted on Luffy yet.
Usually we see an absolutely over whelming 1HKO ability from an enemy like Croc's absorption or Boa's petrification for instance. Later we see how Luffy get's around these things. I think it's only fair we get to know why Parasite wasn't attempted or doesn't work on Luffy/Law/anyone else outside of the random mooks and Bellamy.
-
It feels like people are getting plot holes mixed up with unanswered questions. I'm pretty bad at it so I just stay away from using the word entirely.
Anyways, about Laws power and not teleporting people out, we know that Law has to switch object in order to actually teleport. We know this because we saw him throw a log towards Sanji to switch him out from getting attacked. So lets say Law actually cared and wanted to teleport people out, there wouldn't be enough objects around to switch everyone out. At best, Law could've gotten the Straw Hats out with the worse case scenario if he wanted to.
As for Doflamingo not using the string power to control Luffy, or at least stop him. I can be fine without an explanation. It's one of those things that I can imagine Doflamingo tried off screen and it didn't work, or just knew that it wouldn't work so just didn't bother. Would an explanation be good? Yeah, but it's not a huge deal. I would like an explanation for how the Birdcage worked, and why it's so damn powerful.

Really?! Do you remember roughly when this happened? If I can find it then that might settle my curiosity. Still I figure if he can control a White Beard commander where is the limit?

OOOOOHH…as expected from the winner of 51 monthly tournament.
-
@joekido:
- How come Doflamingo never tried to control Luffy and Law?
The only question you asked that we don't have the answer to is this one, maybe other ppl didn't have an inside knowledge to his fruit and couldn't dodge the strings. Bt the rest is they can't?
-Bart can only do a barrier of a certain size (and he'll probably be trying to hold it off next chapter to give luffy time)
-Law was only going after DD for revenge, now that he's lying on death's door he won't have the strength/stamina to move an island.
-Marines have their hands tied, you forget that the world nobles can pretty much do anything they want and for intents and purposes, DD has the authority of one b/c of his knowledge/blackmailing.
-Usopp and Robin….fight DD..........
-Haki, superior haki to law = can't cut.Really?! Do you remember roughly when this happened? If I can find it then that might settle my curiosity. Still I figure if he can control a White Beard commander where is the limit?
Did he control Jozu or stop him? I think one easier than the other. Right now Luffy is probably stronger than a commander of white beard army minus marco.

He only stopped Jozu in his tracks but actually controlled Water Buffalo Atamos. Now Atamos wasn't really impressive by any means but he was one of White Beards division commanders. And at this point I do feel like Luffy is up to par with any emperor commander at the moment but is he so much stronger that the parasite wouldn't work at all? That's all I want to know.
You know what else I just realized? Luffy touched the Spider Web twice! Once with his big fat fist and right after he grabs one of it's strands to swing over and strike Doffy. I will assume it was because his hands were coated in Haki that he didn't get stuck. Still… I would like to know for sure if that was the case.
-

I doubt Dofla can make his strings sticky as well. Maybe if he used a combo with Trebol, but that would require team work (or any work from Trebol's side).
-
Why are people so sure that Burgess has DFs in that bag? lol. It's funny and annoying at the same time.

How would you explain Sanji then? Maybe he got tangled?
I like to think that Doflamingo swings from clouds like spider-man swings from buildings, adhesive ends that attach like spider-man's webbing. Of course it could be anything like say a lasso but with the way parasite works I've always assumed the strings stick to enemies when necessary at their tips or in the case of spider-web, everywhere.
-
@Uncanny:

Because his goal is gathering DFs and the pattern of the bag looks similar. Just a theory of course.

Maybe he wrapped them around him, or tied knots or something. We saw how little time it took him to tie Luffy's hands together.
I always kinda assumed the string ends latch onto stuff too, but who knows. Maybe he wasn't even able to use clouds to fly until he awakened Ito Ito.
Such a needlessly confusing devil fruit. And the fact he barely used all the features shown so far against Luffy, doesn't help it much.

Who said that?
He probably has various normal fruits, which are supposed to take over the ability after a devil fruit user dies in the vicinity.
