@Robby:
GT is an amazing series when all you have are fifth generation fansub bootlegs on video tape containing the android 18 fight and the omega shenron fight, and randomly the one episode where Bra tells Vegeta to shave off the stupid mustache, and have no idea of any of the context of the other stuff around it and are basically missing 50 episodes.
The way it was meant to be seen in high school in 1999. (Before the US had even gotten to Goku going super saiyan against Freiza)
As a result I don't hate GT the way most people do and have a fondness for the highlights, and barely recall any of the other stuff that I've only seen once over a decade ago.
Similarly, I have an extreme fond spot for movies 5-8. Whatever their flaws, they were all I had of Super Saiyan for years and so felt much more epic… and that was my only encounter with Broly for several years, so as lame as he was, he wasn't tainted for me until much later.
GT would've been good if they didn't want to go back to their roots so badly with it. That being trying to make it like Dragonball. So much has happened between the original series and Z that the tone changed to much to go back. So what we got was a bad mix of old kooky gags, power creep and late 80s-early 90s fashion that pleased no one. I will say there were some good along with the bad. From the terrible villain Baby, we got SSJ4. From the terrible early shadow dragons, we got the tail end shadow dragons (That were the only ones available in Xenoverse btw) SSJ4 Vegeta and Gogeta. But its hard to sift through the bad to get to the good, things like Uub being completely wasted after being trained by Goku himself and fusing with Buu, trunks and goten not being big staples in the show (with Trunks becoming like Gohan for unexplained reasons and Goten, despite being a playboy, getting only 1 fight and ends up being possessed). Not to mention them trying to fuse multiple times only to be stopped for stupid reasons. Baby's plot being a rehash of Garlick Jr's, Pan being a waste and not living up to her potential either, the list goes on but I'll stop here. I wanted to like GT but it was basically the worse parts about Z made into its own show.
