Chapter 419 "The Legendary Hero" Discussion

I hope when Robin gets free she breaks Spandam's neck ^_^
I bet that will be the case..
what about Nami using her rain tempo to soak the whole lobby and then thunder all of them to hell haha.. or somehow teamup with Sogeking.. some sort of combination would be awesome
-
.. Nami could do something about it too; after salt water does conduct electricity doesn't it? but i dont know if it can conduct well.. (?)
The Legendary Super Saiya-jin SogeKing
=> reference to super sayan? huuh. where did you get that? Oo
edit: oo someone beat me at the nami thingy xD
-
=> reference to super sayan? huuh. where did you get that? Oo
My guess is that the one who wrote that is from latin America. "Saiya-jin" is how the saiyans were named here. sounds a bit weird tough.
Bout Nami:
She shined fighting Kalifa or Calipha, don't remember well. It's Sogeking time. (I hope)
-
=> reference to super sayan? huuh. where did you get that? Oo
Please don't chew me out, it was just a joke b/c the title of the chapter is "The Legendary Hero", so I was just drawing extra reference to the title being about SogeKing by making reference to the legendary super saiyajin. i used saiyajin b/c iirc, that's the original japanese romaji
-
Wow. Totally great. O_O
And honestly, how many of you still don't think Franky is joining?
I really, truly and honestly have NO clue how he intends to handle this. That's when OP is at its best.
Indeed. Things are just gonna get better and better.
i have a new theory about Luffy => Sogeking/Usopp, i now have a feeling that Luffy already knows it's Usopp and will at the end of the arc just nonchalantly say something like "come on Usopp" and then everyone will be like he knew, but it'd make sense, of course he knew, it's his nakama and he's the Captain, who type of captain would he be if he didn't know?
Nah, Oda tends to prefer the more humourous moments with these things, methinks. =p
-
Actually Soge was singing his theme song.
Oh, ok, it looked like he was talking to Sanji.
but im going to be really pissed off if it turns out those king bulls are still alive… the whole "OMG they're dead... OH JUST KIDDING" is really getting old
Don't tell me you actually think they might be dead. :P
-
did we ever see someone die in OP (not counting flashback) ? xD.. They are not dead. they were defeated for a undetermined amount of time :p
-
I had high hopes for Usopp… AND THEY WERE FULFILLED TEN FOLD!!! Now he'll hopefully take care that pesky Buster Call! I'm so glad this chapter had such awesome events! Robin will be rescued, hopefully Usopp will rejoin, Franky will become a Straw Hat, and Galley-La will be avenged. Closure to the fullest! Usopp remains my favorite Straw Hat! Thank you Battle Franky!
-
The perfect fate for Spandam….Franky takes off Robins cuffs, and put them on Spandam. Then he throws the key for that cuff into the water. Then we could have a coverstory adventure of Spanda in cuffs.
-
Excellent chapter <3
-

Yea that's probably true. Luffy isnt as dumb as people think. WIkipedia even mentions a few
@wikipedia:
He might not be as stupid as he appears, having attemped to use Newton's third law by using the ship's cannon to try and stop the ship. Moreover, during the Loguetown Arc, Smoker comments that Luffy "enjoys playing stupid", to which Luffy responds with nothing more than a mysterious smile.
Luffy probably does know. And that would be a proud moment when Usopp then takes off his mask and returns to the crew.
Back to the chapter-it was awesome! Cant believe Sogeking was able to Snipe not only Spandam but all of those marines! That was really awesome, and then Franky protected Robin in the badass pose. When Robin gets out of those cuffs it will be payback time
-

I'm sure plenty died in the war in Alabasta, over 1 million people fighting, same with the one in Skypiea. The Whiskey Peak incident, stated 3 different times that a large amount were killed by Zoro, or even the pirate Don Kreig shot through the heart (anime had a hole through his back even), and many other incidents that would lead one to believe they're dead.
This was great chapter, highlight for me would definitely be Sogeking's appearance, and the things leading up to it, and Franky jumping in front of Robin (rememinded me of the Luffy jumping in front of Zoro when the marines had shot at him, which was right before (or maybe after) he made him part of the crew scene…). Judging from the Luffy/Lucci fight, the little we saw of it and the fact that they're fighting without Oda displaying everything in the manga, along with the commets made, it seems the parts that will actually be shown wouldn't be as chapter-consuming as the previous fights. Though at this point, I'm more curious as to see what the Strawhats who are all at the bridge will do now.

Ok lately I haven´t said much more then just thanks to the raw and trans providers but this time, after reading the trans and understanding what´s going on in this chapter I just feel the urge need to say what a kickass chapter it was. IMO this is the best chapter since ch. 398. Fights are cool and all but wrapping around a story nicely is what seperates One Piece from every other story and makes it great.
I mean in Skypiea we´ve already seen Oda´s skill how great he can wrap around a nice conclusion for all that´s been going on with the past of Jaya, Upper Yard, Norland, Cricket, Kargara, Wiper etc. But Water 7/Enies Lobby is on a totally different (higher) level. We have two Flashacks Cutty Flam´s and Nico Robins. And for all of them the beginning of the closing of the cirlce was within this chapter.
The Ohara vs. WG theme respectively the Spanda…´s versus the Robin´s theme is starting to conclude now. Furthermore the Tom´s Workers vs. Spandam thing is also going to be concluded now. For everything the Spanda...´s did those years they are going to pay soon. And it´s Oda´s kickass style to build villains up that greatly to give them the honor to get their defeat being wrapped around with a great build up.
Furthermore the whole "do what we can´t do, Usopp" thing appeared in the exact right moment and makes the writing skill I just mentioned above even more great. Everything that happened over all these years this arc took place really gets concluded so nicely together. I mean just look at the middle panel on page 15. The crying Robin with the fire in the background just screams homage to little Robin at burning Ohara. Oda is a friggin genius and One Piece is the best thing that I ever happened to have the pleasure to get introduced to.
That´s about all that I needed to speak of my soul.
-
Only Franky and Robin are on the Bridge. Everyone else is on the tower. Sogeking shot the package of keys over to the bridge so Franky could free Robin.
No, right now, Franky and Robin have Spandam to themselves. Just as it should be.
-
IIIITT'S SOGEKING TIME!! Thanks BF~!
-
What an awesome chapter, thanks BF!!!
-
The only thing I'd been looking foward to this arc was the boss fight, but I kinda hope Lucci gets knocked out soon, he's not important.
-
Nice chapter. We have more Franky blocking bullet action, and Usopp pelts Spandam and marines with exploding stars.
Btw, doesn't it seems weird that Spandam can still get back up after taking two exploding stars? I mean, those things knocked out some random marines/guards in one hit, and Spandam is supposedly weaker then one of them…
I guess that's Spandam's "main character power" at work here.
-
maybe its the shoes just picking him back up.
-
Robin.
Just when I think all the beating and tormenting got unbearable, the crew came. Now all I can think of is Spandam getting more beatdown and Lucci flying his way.
Maybe it was a big deal to her but is that a need to waste space with flashbacks etc. on?
Now if he gave a detailed description of the family's relation to WG, his dad's whereabouts and or some solid info on Sauro, that would have been much better.
But we simply got about 2.5 pages of SHOCKING revelation that wasn't shocking.
-
Spandam actually took one flame star and one explosive star, anyway he looks pretty f%cking down to me in the last panel we can see him. Even if he can get back up, that won't make that much of a difference.
-
Hm.. It's the so-called "Star-Power" (syn: "Main Charackter Power" ^^)
It's funny.. At first I was SO incredibly excited of the final confrontations.. and then.. when they really started I just wanted them to finish fast, because I wanted the story go on further.. Don't get me wrong. I LOVE those fights.. but how some said before, in some other threads, when the fights start, everyone only wants the story to go on ^^
And I'm with Ivotas.. ESPECIALLY this is so fantastic with Oda.. He's mixing fighting and story-telling very delicate andit fits so PERFECT. It's not only fighting, but some fighting chapters, mixed up with some story.. and between these fights, there are also pure story-chapters like this one, but which is so exciting. Can't wait for the conclusion.
-
Spandam has less douriki than an ARMED guard. And we don't know what his douriki is with his sword…Anyway, Douriki is just physical strength, etc, and has nothing to do with durability.
-
Thank you Battle Franky and thanks Eblob88**.**
Best chapter in a long time.
Not once, but twice Spanda gets blasted in the face! That made my day seeing that.
Douriki only measures physical strength not endurance. Plus its good that he doesn't get knocked out so quickly because now Franky and Robin can torture him for a while.
I just wonder if Oda can somehow workin Spandain in the major asskicking that is about to proceed?
-
Hmm so the Buster Call is coming through the Justice Gate? Or did i misunderstood the tranlation?
-
@Hunky:

You know that's coming. This is Oda we're talking about….
-
it would be super great just to see a combo of atttcks. nico robin holding him in place will Zoro does the air attack sanji uses his red foot ussop blasts him with sire and franky hits him with the air cannon thing.
-
Wait…wait....physical strength has nothing to do with endurance? How, endurance is based on the body. Oh well, whatever.
Spandam's probably just still up because he's a main character. It's the same reason that no one dies in OP--that we know of.
-
I just hope to see Robin put him in a special never seen before clutch that would make Mozgus' medieval tortures look like thai massages.
-
Wait…wait....physical strength has nothing to do with endurance? How, endurance is based on the body. Oh well, whatever.
Pain tolerance and assesment are wild. A random woman can get up from being hit with a bat, while Bob Sapp is downed and crying from leg kicks. For example.
-
Haha Bob Sapp…
-
OMG! USOPP IS KICKING SO MUCH ASS THIS CHAPTER!
also, I think that the marines have provided the strawhats a way off the island
-

hmmm…maybe she can grow the limbs somewhere internal like stopping the heart from beating to kill them…or maybe she could put a hand in his chest, and burst out Alien style
-
hmmm…maybe she can grow the limbs somewhere internal like stopping the heart from beating to kill them…or maybe she could put a hand in his chest, and burst out Alien style
This is too brutal and not much Oda-Style.. So I would say that things like this will never happen in OP <.<
-
WOW
makes me proud to be a one piece fan happycry
-
hmmm…maybe she can grow the limbs somewhere internal like stopping the heart from beating to kill them…or maybe she could put a hand in his chest, and burst out Alien style
I've said a few times, I predict once Robin is free of the cuffs, one of her arms would shoot out of Spandams mouth, choking him.
-
Now this is the one piece we all know and love. Thank you oda for this chapter. I smiled when I saw spandam get flamed, and ussop on top of the building doing his ussop thing.
I also loved the symbolsm with the sun shining on ussop. Its symbolzing ussops rebirth, after hitting rock bottom this arc, Captain Ussopu is back in buisiness. This is getting added to one of my favorite one piece moments.
lol, this made my day, maybe thats sad, but im in such a good mood right now.
-
You know, another thing I just felt like mentioning, this is the first time that I can think of where I saw crewmembers straight up praising Usopp's skills and showing full confidence in his ability to do a big job. I could be forgetting an incident, but that stood out to me. It's also interesting how both Zoro and Sanji haven't stopped referring to him as still being part of the crew.
I've said a few times, I predict once Robin is free of the cuffs, one of her arms would shoot out of Spandams mouth, choking him.
Well, one thing for sure, after all the crap that he just put Robin through, it'll be sweet justice seeing her stand over him in a pathetic position saying "so, what were you saying again?" Spandam of course cowering in fear….but I don't think Robin is going to go apesh*t on Spandam...I still think just the complete humiliation of Spandam and getting all his power revoked will be a more worthy end then being brutally assaulted.
-
You know what would really be the kicker? Spandam joining Buggy's crew after all this.
-
What a MOST EXCELLENT chapter indeed :)
I think i know how Sogeking is able to hit @ that great distance: he may have a vision dial embeded in his mask.
As far as i know, this dial isn't extinct, and we do know that he brought a bunch of dial shells so it wouldn't be a surprise if a vision dial wasn't amoung (spelling??) them.
Oh, and by the way, i'm almost sure that the tone dial will be a key element in a future chapter: i don't think Oda would focus on it for no reason if it weren't so.EDIT
By the way: unless Luffy comes up with other moves using Gear Second (other then the ones we have already seen), there's no way in hell Luffy will win against Lucci, unless he uses Gear Third, or something else. I say this because Jet Bazooka, even though it was a finishing move agains Blueno, Blueno is around 5 times weaker then Lucci and, therefor (spelling??) it won't have the same impact in Lucci as it did in Blueno.
-
But, that SOund dial would have to be like a contact lens or something. And he's wearing his sight-enhancing goggles that he got during the Loguetown arc, so that's probably why. Or he's a brave warrior of the sea.

When i refered to the tone dial, i was thinking of next arc, maybe.
Regarding the vision dial, wasn't Amazon using it in a camera, back in skypeia arc? -

As far as i know, this dial isn't extinct, and we do know that he brought a bunch of dial shells so it wouldn't be a surprise if a vision dial wasn't amoung (spelling??) them.Stop saying that. Zoro doesn't use Dials on his Swords and Sanji does not have dials on his feet. Usopp does not need dials to be a better Sharpshooter. He uses them to have a stronger weapon, not to shoot better. His googles are all he needs to protect his eyes from light and distractions, the rest is all his natural abilities.
But… about the chapter...
So... AMAZING!!!
I've been waiting for this ever since Alabasta and the Mr. 4 fight! Wow, how long ago was that? 220+ chapters ago?But I want more! ^_^ I want a title like "Sogeking vs. ..." (Buster Call?) This is just the beginning!
I can barely wait for the end of this arc! I want to see what happens!
-

This wouldn't go against his sharp shooting abilities (i think): it's one thing to see a target @ great distance, and it's quite another to hit that target.
-
Good vision is a part of a sharpshooter's skills.
I would not like if Usopp cheated to become a great sharpshooter. -
The thing is… that vision dial stores images, it doesn't make them appear better. It's a camera. Without the zoom. Well, not sure about that, but super long range.
Besides, you have to factor the other factors, like wind.
-
Hmm so the Buster Call is coming through the Justice Gate? Or did i misunderstood the tranlation?
The Buster Call is coming from the gate of justice. It sure opened wide, Kokoro said it never did.
The marine on the escort ship seems to be unaware of the BC, it might have been shot down also.
I think that escort ship will be taken by the SH pirates to escape

Correct me if i'm wrong but, wasn't the vision dial the zoom part of the camera?
I think a vision dial is the same as ussop's goggles, only with much bigger range.@ Deicide: i don't think it's cheating. If it were, then ussop's goggles were already doing that. Ofc, this is only my opinion.
-
@HTC:
Correct me if i'm wrong but, wasn't the vision dial the zoom part of the camera?
I think a vision dial is the same as ussop's goggles, only with much bigger range. That would be extremely revolutionary if he could fit two vision dials on his goggles in his mask. It's even more revolutionary to have a camera that has a zoom that can make things perfect from that far of a distance. Either way, I don't think the zoom can be powerful enough to that extent.
