@superv:
plus, he wanted to kill vergo with his own hands.
I don't remember him being particularly interested in Vergo. He seems solely concentrated on Doffly.

Law stayed by his brother a marine, the whole time. Vergo saw how they spoke and acted with one another. Law is a D. And he ate the incredible costly DF. Did Dofla forget that?
I can feel bad since his brother is literally Hitler and Roci just wanted to stop genocides
He's not obligated to be loyal to a psychopathic murderer just because they share DNA
No offense to Doffy btw
Doffy did nothing wrong :ninja:
Is the guy sitting across from luffy supposed to be naruto
Yup. You can tell by the shoes and the fact that they are eating ramen
Could it be that Naruto's author used the last page of his lifework as One Piece advertising ?
Maybe they made a bet a couple of years ago of whose story would go longer….lol
Great chapter, as expected. I can't wait for Rocinante's speech ("Live!") to Law right before he dies. It should be devastating.
Another potentially heartbreaking moment will come when Law has to convince Doflamingo he had no real attachment to Roci in order to save his own life (as per Rocinante's wishes). Law will probably have to have a serious "he died for me" moment in order to not try and kill Mingo immediately.
Yup. You can tell by the shoes and the fact that they are eating ramen
Also Nami's Dress and the fox has the Uzumaki swirl on his back
One Piece Logo hides a secret :ninja:

Eating the fruit doesn't make Law untrustworthy and even make him more interesting to keep. We don't know if Doflamingo ever Law was a D. or why Doflamingo shouldn't learn it. Law was closed was close to his brother, sure but since he took cre of him for way longer and Law being still pretty young he considered Law would forgive or forget it.
OK now a bit time… Chapter is amazing
Corazon is just too awesome and the mere tragic that the only marine Law get into was Vergo... Vergo on the other hand going ape shit with full haki mode after he read the scroll... Corazon's death will be hard to swallow
DoFla on the other hand is still a evil and cruel mofo but still somehow I love his whole family thing... Holy shit if I could have a spin off of OP I would say... Give me DoFla family... The spread alone is so awesome... Bayb 5 is so cute.
Now BirdCage... Still I have no clue how no one is able to cut the strings...
I don't get it. What in the world will stop Dofla from hunting down a little kid? He has all reason to hate Law TO DEATH. And then he let this traitor grow even stronger. Have they ever met as shichibukai?
Up to this point, 'mingo isn't aware that Law ate the fruit. Maybe Roci will trick him into believing that he disposed of the fruit in a different way. That perhaps he ate it himself (he is a DF user, after all, which can serve to give off all the expected signs), at which point Dofla will think that the fruit manifested somewhere else in the world after Roci's death, and search for it in vain until he hears again from Law years later.
As for their meeting, it's unlikely. Law only became a warlord recently and there does not seem to have had another gathering of the seven warlords since the Summit War.

Yup. You can tell by the shoes and the fact that they are eating ramen
And the clothing. we see very little of it, cuff and the black stripe at the waist, but add that to the meat-ramen swap, the Atasuki style dress Nami is wearing, the fox, and the Uzumaki spiral on the Fox's back …
Yeah it's Naruto himself
Oda: "Island in the shape of a bird, check! Birdcage on an other island with no obvious symbolism, check!"
This guy is gold.
So… how did Vergo ended up from being fresh transfer to G5 into being a part of super secret all important mission to take Ope Ope no Mi in north blue? Because that doesn't seem to make much sense to me.
And why isn't one of the Admirals overseeing it?
And why are female marines useless in every generation?
So many questions, so little time...
And why are female marines useless in every generation?
That's not fair, Darth! The Marines would be useless here no matter their gender!
Because of plot.

Hey, you are correct, actually.
Altough the fact that Tsuru and her female marine cadre did not managed to do any damage to the Doflamingo Family even though Rosinante was feeding them info is… annoying. Predictable, but annoying.
Not like it couldn't be remedied easily...
But still, not a bad chapter overall.
Did anyone notice how stylish Senior Pink and Gladius looked in the spread?
Oda's really good with clothes.

I guess we're supposed to respect her for being a "threat" in the first place. ~15 year flashback hype!
Really good chapter. The conclusion of this flashback won't be a surprise but will be no less tragic. Always impressed Oda keeps his backstory straight. I was nervous he'd forget that Law had already seen birdcage or that Vergo had whooped him in the past. But alas, I should never doubt Oda.

Oda's really good with clothes.
I'm more interested as to why they stopped being so stylish…

That is all Marines are nowadays, all talk and no substance.
Meh, at least flashback is good.

Well, Doula Mongo was after the Ope Ope, so it makes sense that he would volunteer himself to be part of the mission.
Also, North Blue is not far from G-5. Just cross the northern Calm Belt.

I would love to see that time's second or third admiral (Zetto was not for time, maybe Kuzan/Sakazuki just made their way up? or even another one??) to be a former G-5 marine and then taking them with him (so Vergo was in).
Did anyone notice how stylish Senior Pink and Gladius looked in the spread?
Oda's really good with clothes.
Gladius has always been stylish. Señor Pink was classy too but somehow transitioned to giant baby clothes.
I really dig the suit-and-gloves look though, and badass fur overcoats just make it cooler.

They needed strong marine so they picked him up or he volunteered.
And why isn't one of the Admirals overseeing it?
Tsuru is filling the part I suppose. Admirals hardly move after all.
And why are female marines useless in every generation?
Since they are marines I would gender isn't the problem.

I don't know if it is really recent. Garp does have a lot people that he chased that are still roaming or are settled and Roger turned himself in. Although he did forced Chinjao to retired so that's something.

Wild guess Da-iiiiin :
When G1 was established in the New World after TS, Marineford became G1.
Maybe the G5 was located in North Blue at this time.

Pretty sure he wanted to be transferred to G-5 because of Doula's plan to attack Dressrosa (which is close to G-5).

Ai. Obviously, it was just a wild guess-Jamon.
Up to this point, 'mingo isn't aware that Law ate the fruit.
Aware up until now. Dofla will know what Law had done next chapter. And he and his crew not considering Law ate the fruit is out of question, I think, especially when Law secretly dissapears.
So, maybe Law can escape because the Marines interfere, and then what? Either Vergo hasn't said anything or Dofla simply doesn't care. What I refuse to believe. He was betrayed by his brother, lost this really helpful and expensive DF, because of this D. brat! So a few years later Dofla has his own country, is a warlord and a secret underground boss. Pow! Law reappeared with the Ope ope no mi. Still not assassinated. The fact that Law still lives this current date makes me believe that Dofla infact couln't do anything about it, or never wanted that DF and it was Tuesday for him as Rosi died (if you now what I mean because it wasn't for Law (something Dofla also should have seen comin)).
That's a big plothole for me because it seems like mighty Doflamingo cannot get a grasp on a little kid. Maybe this will be clarified in the next chapters.
Guh. Just 1 more week and this flashback will be over. Especially considering how fast this chapter was. Imo its dragging but Oda's just been jamming the events in, only stopping to let Corazon clown around. Or I guess mime around. lol
So, I'm pretty sure Doflamingo's going to spare Law because he's a child, and that Corazon just kinda took him.
Oh man, I didn't see that Vergo appearance coming, even though I should have.
His Helmeppo's hairstyle is what traumatized Law.
Nice chapter that sets up for the climax of this flashback.
Tsuru bit was nice, I wonder if she's the only high rank marine in this mission.
The flashback should end in two chapters or so.
It reminded me of that gif

Off topic: Just showing Oda's genius once more.
"As fans pointed out, the first characters on each of the menu signs in the background spell out the Japanese words, "Naruto otsukaresan deshita." The signs read: "Nasu no itame" (eggplant stir-fry), "Rukkora no sarada" (arugula salad), "Tofu," "Otsumami" (bar snacks) "Karee," (Curry) "San," (written as the character for 'three'), "Den…," "Shōyū no" (soy sauce, with the first character reading 'shi'), and "tamago" (egg). The phrase "Naruto otsukaresan deshita" is an informal way to say something along the lines of, "Naruto, good job after working so long."
And the characters of One Piece that appear in the page are NAmi, RUffy and TOny chopper = NARUTO

That's a pretty cool tidbit of information
I haven't posted in a chapter thread in a while but I gotta say.
1. Rocinante is by far the best marine in the story so far.
2. Rocinante has the heart of a D and I love it.
3. Rocinante has just entered my top 10 One Piece characters of all time.

well there is someone thing left to happen for sure, because up until PH arc dofla reserved the heartseat for law.
by the way what does the tuesday thing mean
You know, the whole "Law hakis it up and slices Vergo in two" scene suddenly becomes…more interesting when you realize Vergo had it coming for being the tar out of Rocinante. Revenge is a dish served cold, after all.

seeing as how he cut him on the ice side of Punk Hazard xD

Does Tsuru leads a feminist squad or something?
Nah, Tsuru just leads a group of awesome female Marines which is something that the current Marines are lacking! I was very happy to see her appear this chapter.
The rest of the chapter was as awful as it could have been for things going wrong. And birdcage… what really got me about that was how it pretty much ripped away any chance that Cora might have lived through this somehow. Not that I thought he might have, but that's still a crushing blow when it suddenly gets to final. Poor Law's gunna see him go down in front of his eyes too, I can just feel it.
Why did we want this backstory again?!
Very cool cover page with Luffy and Nami (cough let's hope they end up like Hinata and Naruto:ninja:)
I have a feeling they will be a couple at the end of the series.
Amazing chapter
Also fuck Vergo, Fuck Doflamingo and fuck all of his subordinates. I hope Kaido wipes them all out
I have a feeling they will be a couple at the end of the series.
Hancock disagrees, Hancock kills Nami, Hancock is.already pregnant.
Man the Marines are super useless, and it doesn't help that Oda keeps matching them against admiral tier opponents at every chance, the guys never stand a chance.
Except for that one time they got fisher tiger and curb stomped arlong.
Marines don't need to be good. They have crap like buster calls. lol
Oda is just a master at breaking hearts..
it was better than the naruto chapters. had to read this chap again to feel better.bad luck with vergo.law couldnt have moved himself, so maybe he was rescued? or a mini room.
Well, Doula Mongo was after the Ope Ope, so it makes sense that he would volunteer himself to be part of the mission.

You know, I kinda feel sorry for you, you keep repeating that and yet everyone justs chooses to ignore it and keep pushing forward with the "First G5 now North Blue makes no sense at all!!!".
Keep soldiering on, though!

Actually, Dofla and all his underlings have been running from Tsuru for like 2 years. Everytime she appears, they make a run for it.
Also, a couple of things I thought were obvious:
1-Doflamingo dodged Tsuru cause he was already suspicious of Rocinante's potential info leaking, so that's why he took extra care and observed Swallow island from afar instead of just setting camp there without caring too much.
2- Tsuru had some super secret info (served by mole of the family) that they were indeed meeting at Swallow Island. Not her fault Dofla skipped that and went directly towards Minion, which btw, as I've been reminded on this very chapter, is not even the place (nor the time, since this is, what, 2 days before the deal? 3 days?) where the deal was to take place.
3- Tsuru never had a chance to duke it out with Dofla; she's out of the birdcage, he's in. But from what we know, he always ran away from her. And her current self doesn't seem to be that much more afraid of him. So, more power to her.
