Jabs' little feet are so cute <3
Chapter 415 "Heat Increase" Discussion
-
-
Hehe, I didn't notice that until you mentioned it. They are cute in those little shoes.
-
Hmm I was thinking and I think I got how the Devil's wind works.
What if Ussop put a Heat Dial in Sanji's Shoe? That would explain why the friction caused so much heat that he's glowing, but he's not actually on fire. One I thought of that it seems pretty simple that a strong jolt like a kick could suddenly release part of the heat. Once that happens it superheat the air and cause an explosion which explains both the fire, and the extra force the kicks are causing.
Not even the tekkai could stand point blank explosions, not with sanji's kicks behind them.
Well any thoughts?
-
Yay! A pure Sanji chapter, it's refreshing to see after all the mix-ups that have been going on in this arc.
Also, some people don't think that it's over because it's just a kick? Well, there's not much else Sanji CAN do. Jyabura might be concious next chapter, but I don't think he's going to be fighting.
-
Holy shit!!!! Sanjigasm!!!
-
It is entirely possible for Sanji to end it that quick, it's just not like Oda to end Sanji's fight with such a strong villain so quickly. But breaking the cycle isn't necessarily a bad thing.
Personally, I was hoping to see Jabs fight in human form for a bit too. <.<
-
Jyabura meets defeat as Sanji beats him with his fleet heat feet. Sweet!
-
And he didn't even cheat!
-
Yeah! His skills were really elite. :D
-
@Sven:

He can also do fancy kicks like Concasse. That one wasn't fancy. It was just a normal kick in his heated leg mode. Couple that with the fact that every fight this arc has been 3 chapters long from start to finish, and this chapter marked only the second of Sanji fighting Jyabura and I think its obvious it'll finish about 4/5 pages in to 416.
Not to mention that not once through out the whole chapter, even after getting kicked by heated leg Sanji for the first time and having a scorched chest after flying through the air did Jyabura look or say anything to indicate he was seriously injured. If he could stand up to one kick from Fire Leg Sanji and a subsequent crash into a wall, why not another?
Cause it was to his head?
Well, he had his head go THROUGH the ceiling at the start of this chapter after being blasted by Sanji last time, and he brushed it off easy as pie, so that one really doesn't ring true to me either.
Sanji will finish him next chapter early in with a series of several succesive fast kicks from his Devil Leg, followed by one huge hit from a fancy attack like Concasse. 2 or 3 pages of Usopp followed by Zoro and Kaku finally getting it on. Chapter closes with Zoro pulling on bandana after being sent flying by Kaku.
EDIT: Oh, and he made Jyabura into mince meat.
-
I think its just possible for Sanji to make that sort of hot flaming leg.. coz I think.. his shoes are hard enough to create a friction to produce that sort of heat.. remember.. he's always lighting his matches against his shoes.. that's a foreshadowing.. >.<
-
If the next chapter features an extention of this fight… i have a feeling that it'd be nothing much a mere conclusion. Thus far, the battles seem to end by the time the chapter after "whoever VS whoever" is out. I dunno, it's just speculation... I realized that Sanji's fight seems to just rush past, it seems like the other fights were a LOT longer if u asked me (thats assuming this chapter is the end of the battle).
-
Well, the whole thing with the move is you have to ask "why didn't he do this before"? I'm hoping that at some point we're getting explainations for all these things…Gear, the Firebird Star, Sanji's hot feet....it would be cool if they all say that they were inspired by some aspect of CP9's fighting style. I know that Luffy said "I'm really glad I met you guys".
-
I think Jabura is done. Oda hasn't finished a fight with a chapter in a long while, but that doesn't mean he never would again. More fireleg isn't all that necessary, there isn't much to be done against it.
Cool chapter, but I'm not really blown away.
-
Nice chapter, thanks Battle Franky, Eblob and Murasaki.
I think the fights over. i'm going back to sleep too :|
-

Well, there was all the talk about agonizing pain, broken bones and useless tekkai, if you read the trans of page 18. I'd say it's pretty damn powerful.
However, even though this'd be a cool conclusion, I too think the fight isn't done. Why?
- Sanjis' leg is still in fire mode
- Jabura screams as he falls. Usually, the finisher renders the enemy instantly unconcious, no screaming.
- It'd be…odd if Fukoros' fight lasted 2½ chapters, and Jaburas 1½. Unless you consider all the running after Zoro/Sogeking, and subsequent masacre of Soge, "fighting".
- And finally, this whole deal reminds me of another scene, wayy back:

nice to see sanji kickin' asses, but i'd like to see the third form of jyabura so i hope it's not over.

We know already for a fact Luffy was inspired to find a way to excessively increase his powers after fighting Ao Kiji, which resulted in him thinking up the whole Gear thing. Maybe he thought up the exact working of Gear after watching the Tekkai of CP9, though…
-
thanks once again.
have i mentioned that i'm in total, endless and devoted love in sanji?
guh. -
I better be careful, a chapter like this could turn me into a Sanji-fanboy…. What's that Usopp? No, no, I'm still you're number one fan, I mean it, umm, ahhhhh don't make me choose!
-
Thanks a bunch for the chapter Battle Franky. The term "kickass" did never fit any better then this time.
-
BADASS
I love you Sanji. <3 My favoruite OP character right now.So far, all the powerups have been really cool, but Sanjis and Luffys are the coolest. ^^ Btw, I also think that Sanji should be able to defeat Luffy(and franky) now, if Luffy doesnt use any gears.
And I also think that this fight is finished, I mean, look what happened to Jaburas chest, all ribs broken and the reason he didnt bleed is because his wound was so burnt the blood couldnt get out. ANd this kick is far more powerfull that hitting the head through the ceiler(sp?).. If Jabura can't stan up and fight again then it would only make Sanjis attack look less powerfull. And think about it, Jaburas been around fightning for a very long time, so this fitts well. Just like with Kumadori, he was also around for some time, but when the fight really started he was KOd quickly.
I hope Jabura will revert to his human form, and then maybe they will have a little chatt, maybe like, how he came up with the attack..

Like Zoro, sanji has his pride to tak care of…I don't think he'd need someone else help him in his battles...so, I don't think Usopp has anything to do with it...
-
! omfg…..his legs are on fire..that is fucking awesome.
-
quite satisfied with the chapter. Sanji's pretty good er i mean Oda makes SAnji look good. But Teh Wulf is not bad himself. I want more! :)
-
Yay for the Sanji-ness!
I had been waiting for this chapter for a long time. ^_^ I still want more, though I'm not worried, the fight is definitely not over.
Diable Jambe = love
-
i think Sanji's fight with Jyabura is over, and next chapter will be between Zoro n Kaku
-
That was the greatest sanji fight i 've ever seen since the beginning of one piece!! Here is the full extent of sanji's power when he fight seriously!
But i think that the fight is not over , not that i don't want it to finish here but we have to see jabura ko with his eyes and his mouth wide open (lol) and sanji lightening his cigarrete with his shoes on fire , lol !When THAT happen then i think it's safe to say the fight is over , but if it's over in this chapter , it doesn't bother me at all .
-
Usually I'm not one for predicting whether a fight is over or not, but since Sanji called the final blow, I'd say it's over. When a mugiwara says a fight is over they're almost always right. Also it would sort of take away from the coolness of what we just witnessed in this chapter if what Sanji called the finishing blow really wasn't.
-
A very good chapter. I like it.
ah, who am I fooling?
AWESOME chapter! I LOVE it! :)
Like I said in the spoiler thread, a spoiler does no justice to chapters like this one. The fight was marvelous at every turn, the attacks from both characters were awesome, and I have to say that it was one of Sanji's best fights. That said, I must also say that it was not a flawless chapter. I really, really expected an explanation, a few flashback pannels or at least some talking reference about a powerup such as this (specially with the "Red Leg" thing that reminds us of Zeff, one of my favorite flashback characters). That's the only thing that I think was lacking in this otherwise awesome chapter.
That said, if in next chapter we get some kind of explanation (maybe as Sanji walks away from Jabura, we see a few pannels of Zeff talking about this technique and why Sanji could or would not use that before, and then Sanji thinking "thank you, old geeser" or something like that), then this chapter will become just perfect.
Also, about the question: "Is the fight finished?"
I don't know. My first reaction when I saw the last pannel was to think the fight was over, but I also think that we may see something more next week. Maybe Jabura stands up and then Sanji finishes him with a quick combo (like in the Mr. 2 fight), or maybe Jabura turns human, talks something to Sanji, and then falls to the ground, or something else. But I won't be surprised if the fight has ended already.I hope next week we get some pannels on Luffy and Franky before the Zoro fight begins.
-
2 page spread = the end
Yeah, but don't forget about Fukurou and Franky's fight. Wasn't there a 2 page spread no-KO?
-
(avoiding the stupid "is it over?" controversy)
SANJI….THE BURNINATOR!!!! While I'm a bit confused about how that much friction can gather so quickly to cause his legs to heat up, at least we do now have a power-up for the love cook that can knock around the martial-arts wolf-man. While not as visually appealing or easy to keep up as some of the other fights, I do admire Oda for coming up with something new to continue all of his characters in their battle evolution...
! Particularly after reading about what Naruto pulled this week. Yeesh…
-
Great chapter, thank you Battle Franky.
I'm with Buccaneer, the fight is over because Jabura's pretty much beaten out. Even if he gets up, there's nothing he can really do to overcome Sanji at this point. He's done all his tekkai fighting style techniques and now they aren't really of any use. I may be wrong though. If he's not finished, he won't last long in the next chapter.
A lot of people want to see the sources of these techniques, not me though. A quick explanation is really all I want. Not even an in-depth one. I just understand that everyone will be showing off their potential in this arc and have come to accept it. This is only because its shounen manga that I can live with the fact for the most part.
Does anyone else think the Zoro/Kaku K.O. spread will look funny as hell with Kaku being a giraffe? Also, I hope we go straight to the Zoro action before we get any recap or situation thing explaining what's going on at the moment.
-
Yeah, it wouldn't be all that suprising if he got up, it's just that there isn't a point. I doubt he'd be able to take more than one more kick anyway.
To me, an explanation isn't necessary either. We at least know how it works, I'd be fine with him just making a comment of some sort on it.
-
Wow. That was a good chapter. I haven't been able to get online since tuesday so I missed the spoiler. It's quite funny, I love how Oda just pulled the typical 'flaming kick' technique and actually made it cool and original. Trust in Oda.
As for Sanji's new nickname, why don't we just use the name of his attack and call him "Devil Leg Sanji," I think it's pretty badass.
There were lots of moves pulled in this chapter though - I think a lot more than in the previous fights. It was very high-paced and intense, and animated this will be incredible (provided they do it well). I'm actually undecided on whether it's over. The other fights have all finished mid-way through chapters this arc, and Franky had a 2-page spread KO-esque move (though that move was after the FIRST chapter of the fight). That being said, I thought the flaming-kick-to-the-head move was actually quite awesome, and I wouldn;t complain if next week just had Jyabura toppling in his knees in a bloody coma.
-
Thank you sooooo much !! Go go Sanji, show them all the true power of the French Cuisine ^^
-
Super good chapter, thanks for the scans and trans lads. I love the way Oda draws Sanji's kicks, and for me this was his best chef work since the Pearl fight.
I wouldn't say no to some back-story to the attack but I'm quite happy with it being no more than red-hot brand > iron defence = the end. And frankly, at this stage of the arc I'd rather a short awesome fight… (which, if my abyssmal abilty to predict OP continues, means it'll go on for 2 more chapters).
heh, just noticed Jyabura's stretchy kung-fu slippers :D
-
Nice! Sanji got a new technique!
Mr 2 had a similar fire kick attack. He spins very fast until his shoe catches fire. I believe it was chapter 188. -
Amazing action packed chapter. I am in the same position as other people hoping Oda explains how Sanji figured out this new technique. Perhaps a flashback to Jeff or something along those lines. In my opinion, the fight with Jabs is over. If from the first heat kick, Jyabura got burned AND bones were broken, the second kick where sanji put a lot more effort into hit jyabura's head! Now if the first kick could break bones and break through tekkai, why would the 2nd kick to the head not do crazy dmg? That should also be likely to break through tekkai and crack jab's skull, not to mention he's flying towards the ground now. I'm pretty certain the next chapter will show jab's knocked out and sanji to either zoro or to follow nami. Hopefully there will be an explanation of how he learned the burning foot technique.
-
I think this is just the continuation of Sanji s growth
like you see all he does is food related
first step : choosing of ingredients : oeuil(eyes) , bouche(mouth) , collier(neck), …...
second step : treatment or process of food : epluchage, concasse, 3 point decoupage, brochette, ...
third step : cooking (with his red leg!): flambage is the first we saw and we ll see others of the sortand still one thing to add: I think that because of his heated foot he s quicker and those are the devil moves : devil wind , devil jump
Imagine you are walking on a heated floor what would you do, you gain more power reflex you just want to get out of there
so here it is I brought this in an other thread but I had to do it inhere too -
Nice! Sanji got a new technique!
Mr 2 had a similar fire kick attack. He spins very fast until his shoe catches fire. I believe it was chapter 188.Are you referring to this?:
-
I don't need a big explanation either, just some explanation. Just three panels could suffice. Imagine this in the next chapter:
Panel 1: Flashback of Zeff's angry face. "Are you trying to surpass me, brat?"
Panel 2: Continuation of Flashback. Now we see a young Sanji allen on the ground, his leg burned and scarred. Zeff's voice: "You won't ever master this technique if you don't get stronger".
Panel 3: Present, Sanji walks away from a fallen Jabura, thinking: "Thank you, old geeser."A small scene like this would rock without takign away too much of the chapter.
-
The thing is, though, whether Sanji will have this flashback AND if so, will he thank Zeff or Bon Clay? The logical one is Cheff Zeff, but it could go either way.
-
Sanji is too good, he can actually cook his opponents while beating them up now.
-
A small explanation might be nice, but I'm actually fine with this technique being original to Sanji himself. If that's the case then the use of Zeff would only be to show that Sanji has surpassed him with his own unique leg technique.
Perhaps he'll gain a nickname all his own rather then Red Leg something like devil leg, or flaming leg, burning leg or something like that. It would be a way to have his name up there in infamy with Mugiwara no Luffy, and Pirate Hunter Zorro.
Oh yeah I think I found the lie that Ussop will soon make true…. Somehow.
-
Two points.
1.) While Jyabura does indeed say his fur is burned and some bones are broken, he never actually sounds in pain about it, never really complains about it, and only shows him down for a total of 1 panel. Straight afterwards he's up and jumping about doing Geppou's and Shigans. Not even slightly slowed or fazed.
Does that honestly sound like someone seriously injured?
Now, okay, that last kick was to the head, but so what, doesn't mean his skull was broken (this being One Piece, it means it wasn't in fact). His jaw could be broken or something equally as inane.
2.) Sanji never actually says he'll finish Jyabura. Looking at the wording of the two translations here all he says is that he's saving that leg from damage because he needs it to finish Jyabura off.
Not that he'll finish him with this one move.
-
@Dr. Chopper a few pages back, not all the chapters that were named whomever VS whomever ended the fights this arc. The only one that for sure did that was Monster VS Kumadori.
There may be a little bit of closure to Sanji VS Jabura next chapter but for the most part that's it, the fight is over.
oes anyone else think the Zoro/Kaku K.O. spread will look funny as hell with Kaku being a giraffe?
I think midway through the fight, Kaku will revert to his human form and go back to using his four swords and rokushiki. As far as we can tell, the giraffe form is just for comedic purposes Kaku is just pretending to like it.
-

HAHHAHAHAHAHA you wanna kill me
Yeah and Ussop also will get one 'nickname' LORD OF DESTRUCTION USSOP -
The battle is most likely complete.
Sanji whipped out a huge finisher.
Jabura whipped out a huge finisher.
It's a lot different than from when Franky just charged up. That's when the fight essentially began.
Could it go on? Yeah. It could. But it doesn't seem Oda's style to pull something like that, especially after Sanji just got a full chapter to himself which is something he didn't even get against 2.

I was waiting for somebody else to bring that up. You have a good point, though. I wasn't really thinking of it that way, but that does make sense.
