Oh my God. That's absolutely shocking.
Like everyone else has said, he was such a cheerful and friendly guy, and I loved his reviews. It's just a total shock to see him go like this.
R.I.P.

Wow, that's absolutely horrible news.
I admit I didn't watch his videos much, but in the ones I saw him in, he always came across as a wonderful guy. This is unbelievably sad to hear.
Rip , guy was a darn funny reviewer
Whoah. Like everyone else, I am completely blindsided by this, I only ever saw his You Can Play this series, but he always seemed happy and friendly. Deep condolences to his wife and family.
TGWTG is streaming a memorial video right now.
Check it out here.

If you haven't already, you should check out the Pokemon movie reviews he did with Suede and Linkara (unless you have zero interest in the Pokemon films).

Also, if anyone's up for it, here's a WTFIWWY live video that Nash did with Justin that was posted today.

You guys remember JewWario? Always wore his Wario hat. Played Gareth the Goblin King in Suburban Knights? Did the trio reviews with Linkara and Suede over the Pokemon movies?
He shot himself. He's dead.
I have absolutely no idea what led him to this. He was one of the nicest people you could ever meet in TGWTG, and from reading his Twitter, he seemed fine. He had plans to film something on the 23rd, and he was going to sing apparently. In fact, it did get recorded, apparently. I don't know what could have happened. He apparently locked himself in the bathroom, and his wife talked to him from the other side of the door.
A lot of TGWTG members are just now finding out, and none of them have any idea why something like this would happen.
A thousand pardons to his family and friends.
Oh my god, that's awful! ;_;
RIP JewWario. You were a cool dude and you will be missed dearly.
@Thousand:
I'm at a shock, I've watched livestreams of his. He was always such a happy, cheerful guy that didn't seem like he had a care in the world. Why on earth…
Like they say, it's always the ones who seem the happiest…
gapes I didn't watch him much, I just know I always loved him in the specials, and his guest roles. Such a out of left field thing . . . . .
Todd made good on his promise of getting the Best of the Year video up quicker! http://blip.tv/todds-pop-song-reviews/the-top-ten-best-hit-songs-of-2013-6720576 …Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be opening for me at the moment.
Sorry, Insider, but I beat ya to it this time. :ninja:

The hell? This is horrible. The guy seemed to have so much going for him and so much going on in his life. If you're going to make a movie, why end your life before that? Well, that doesn't make sense amongst everything else! Such a tragedy.

[hide]Loved majority of the songs on his list, and those I don't love are songs I haven't heard.
Yeah, "Treasure" and "Get Lucky" were a blessing this year on the radio, and honestly, I'd say I prefer "Treasure". It's just… so god damn happy. And that makes me happy.[/hide]
(Also, thanks for not making me feel guilty about changing the subject.)
I actually hadn't heard a lot of the songs on this list, either. Probably since I have been intimately familiar with every song on the Pop Charts since 2010.
! Of the songs I have heard, there were some picks that surprised me and others…not so much. (I predicted exactly where Treasure and Get Lucky would end up). One definite surprise was Best Song Ever. I mean, yeah, I knew Todd liked it, but expected it not to actually make the list. Other surprises were what didn't make it, mainly Royals and Safe and Sound. I'm also glad to see someone besides me acknowledging that the lyrics to Clarity make no sense whatsoever. Girl's a damn good singer, though.
! Going back to Treasure, though-- I find it odd that he compared it to Kool and the Gang, when I found it much more similar to Lady (You Bring Me Up)...which he plays while discussing Treasure.
So because of the Youtube copyright shenanigans, the Normal Boots crew (Jontron, PB Gamer, Pro Jarid, Continue?, Completionist) reunited and have decided to upload their videos to their own site first. To celebrate everybody posted a new video, including Jon tron, he looks at Home Alone video games.
Have you guys seen Doug's tribute video to Justin? Having not seen any of his videos before, from this I can see why folk are so upset and surprised. I know Diamanda has taken it very hard (I know her in person) and she was only tangentally involved with Justin.
!
i never watched a video with this guy but saw his name come up on my youtube feed. Now that i know what it's about i feel super depressed. My condolences to his family. R.I.P.
Okay. O shall ask this because it keeps bugging me.
Do people still hate Blockbuster Buster?
I'm watching some of his last reviews and he really found his "thing". He has a rather small pack of characters that he keeps the same, the "nerd plots" at the beginning of his reviews are short and still pack some great in-jokes and his reviews, especially about the super hero stuff, shows that he knows his shit.
So - does anyone else watch him?

I watched him a bit before but the last thing I saw from him was his crossover with Linkara.
Cue Zeph/Nobody's abrasive response whenever BBB/Marzgurl are mentioned.

! Linkara and Brad reading the movie titles was awesome.
Not to bring this matter up too much
! But I'm watching Angry Joe's tributes to Justin and he's crying. I do hope he's doing alright.
So some… person wrote this horrendously awful article about Frozen where they said stupid shit like "Sucker Punch is a feminist movie", "Anna is a sexist character because she has character flaws", and "the song 'Fixer Upper' promotes rape", and how the movie promotes 'false feminism'…
Yeah, Lindsay had none of it. NONE OF IT! So if you want some good old Nostalgia Chick rage and some honest to god intellectual feminism, I highly recommend you read this: http://chezapocalypse.com/thefrozenthing/
I loathe the term "Tumblr feminism", but…
Tumblr really needs to stop talking about feminism.
Tumblr needs to stop talking about activism in general.
Cause they're not helping.
Tumblr's idea of social justice is that if you're a white male, you don't get to have problems.
I enjoyed Frozen but hated Olaf. Shall I go about attempting to validate my dislike through the ideology of global warming denialism (MELTING IS NOT EVIL, OLAF IS FALSE ANTI-MELTING PROPAGANDA!)
The fact of the matter is that it's okay to not like something simply because it's not personally gripping you, on an emotional/personality level. You don't need to fish for some ideological justification. I thought both Sucker Punch and Man of Steel were bad, and I exited the theater liking The Dark Knight Rises and thinking the Lone Ranger was decently enjoyable. There are tons of very vocal people who strongly disagree with my opinions but I'm not going to scream at them as some vain self-validation of feelings that are in all honesty probably not rooted in rationales to begin with. They're just my first blush, direct take-away emotions.

I want this to be a joke. But its not. Its so accurate it hurts.

heheheh, that opening.
New Jontron
So anyone else want Jon to just do a review of a game, start to finish like he used to, instead of just grabbing like six games and playing like five minutes of each ?
Cause he could've easily made an episode on the PS1 Hercules. I mean, it's so much funnier when his jokes build up, but now he's done three episodes in this way, not counting the non-gaming Goosebumps episode.
I think playing 5 minutes of a game and ending it at that is much easier on him. But I wouldn't mind seeing him change up the format and bit and complete a game or something. Its a bit of a video game reviewer cliche to do the "I'm done with this SHEEEET!" and quit. I think it might be even a pattern that most game reviewers start out cover all of the game, and then drop down to multiple games or mid-way through game reviews. But also most reviews are about bad games to make fun, so once you quick half way through because the game is so bad, you can't go back because any game afterward won't be so bad.
Eh, I've always been a fan of features/retrospectives, so I don't mind. Sure, he cou'dve probably spent a few more minutes on each game for a "full episode", but this way the awfulness of each game is distilled.
Rebruary continues with a Miami Vice episode: Viking bikers from hell!
http://spoonyexperiment.com/movie-reviews/rebruary-2014-viking-bikers-from-hell/
I dunno if April's help with writing the script shows here but I really digged this one. Less long rants and lots of shorter bits, lots of delicious callbacks and references and snappy one-liners. I've always liked Happy Spoony better than Angry Spoony anyways, he's best when he's actually enthusiasthic about stuff.

Yep. It's been posted on this forum before, and it's pretty well-known amongst sci-fi/reviewing circles. It never gets old.

What, you've never seen his Ultima reviews?
But yeah, his FFXIII review in particular was kinda "eh".

The Ultima 8 and 9 reviews are good, but i dont find them as funny as oldschool spoony for the same reason i dont enjoy the FFXIII review; i already know why these games are terrible so he didnt really bring up anything i didnt know or bring any new perspective.
Back in the Days, Spoony seemed to focus on making wonderful playthroughs of obscure old games like The Ripper (probably my favourite review of his to date) and at the same time bash "Holy Cows" like FF8 and FF10, games with gaping flaws yet somehow massive fan followings and stirring up some good controversey in the process. I have always been a final fantasy fan but spoony really changed the way i look back at those two games. VII and IX are still two of my favourite games of all time though, i wish he would give IX a chance.
Seriously, Spoony hates the whiny, emo protagonists in Final Fantasy games and FFIX is the one game wich really breaks that rule. Zidane is pretty much like Luffy, very outgoing and upbeat.

Doug actually referenced them himself in this video he did of "Top 11 Nostalgia Critic reviews I will not do", where he said he wouldn't review The Phantom Menace because everyone had already done it and he didn't think he could really add anything. He then brought up RLM's review as an example of a particularly in-depth one.

I know. Dough is great, my personal favourites:
Star Wars Holiday Special
Reefer Madness
Moulan Rouge (god that pretentious sack of shit deserved to be torn apart)
The Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons (As a kid i LOVED SATAM but DESPISED the other show)
Old Commercials (Zack the Psychomaniac had me rolling on the floor)
Its a shame he keeps wasting time on the Bum Reviews though. I find them to be repetetive, boring and flat out offensive (HOMELESS PEOPLE ARE DUMB AND DO DRUGS, HAHAHA!")

Bum Reviews are supposed to be spastic and whatnot. They're not really that bad as Doug doesn't downplay the horrible life Chester A. Bum has, he just uses it as a source of comedy.
Now Arin and Danny spending five minutes laughing about "the stages of homelesness", that was flat out offensive.

Didn't they only get married a couple months ago? (Or has more time passed than I thought?)
Well, congrats to them in any event.

They got married in October but had been living together for over a year.
Todd's first official review of the year is out: Dark Horse by Katy Perry. Considering his total change of heart with her over the last two years, this should be interesting.

Also, I'm a bit late here, but I find it really amusing that Doug referenced Brina Palencia at the end of his Weird Couples List last week.
Well he was at an anime convention. Ya just gotta pick attractive voice actresses to make the joke work.
