Next Strawhat Crewmate (Vol. 6)

I think someone with legs join. Think about it… So far each SH has legs.
I think the next crewmate should have a pulse cause all the SH so far have a. . .
!
DAMMIT -
The next crewmate will be the next crewmate.
-
Since the dumb prediction thread has taken over this one… the next nakama will be the user of the niku niku no mi.
!
-
I'd be totally fine with either Kinemon or Momonosuke joining (Momo could be a cabin boy and Kinemon could be their tailor!), but I think it's too soon to really say what'll happen to them. Once the inevitable Wano arc starts up I think we'll be able to get a better idea of whether they'd be good Straw Hat material or if they're just another Vivi situation.
Plus, we still need to meet Kanjuro. We still don't know what he's like and what kind of motivations he has regarding his mission.
Very few characters who have fought along side the SH crew as part of their main group..haven't got a invitation. Zoro fought along side Luffy to beat Captain Morgan. Usopp beat Jango. Sanji fought Pearl/Gin. Chopper fought that afro/arrow guy. Franky fought Fukurou from CP9. Brook fought along side the crew to take down Oz and he beat some of the Zombies..that one Monkey Zombie I think had a name. lol The point is these type of people who fight along side the crew in a straw hat manner have a high chance of getting an invitation. However, the fact that they accept the invitation depends on what their overarching goal is, and if they are able to travel with the crew.
Since Kinemon is traveling with the crew..and so far he has been fighting along side the crew..but he only beat some fodder in PH and took down that Dragon with Brook..I don't think that this is enough. He probably should take down one of DD's family members. Or Kinemon/Kanjuro could end up being the Jonney/Yosaku of the New World…It is just too soon to say. So far Kin is doing better than characters like Jonney and Yosaku. He is almost on Vivi status. lol Too soon to say. Currently there is some ambiguity surrounding what Kin/Momo's mission is..and what Momo's significance is in relation to DD wanting to capture him.
-
Or maybe Vivi will comback to them :D
-
What if sabo joins lol.
-
What if sabo joins lol.
No, Koala joins instead of Jinbe. And eats the Mera Mera no Mi to too.
-
I miss Jinbe in One Piece…
-
jimbes the next brawler so he'll be here soon enough just be patient

Hopefully it will be Dellinger.
Sure, both he and Sanji uses a kick-based fighting style.
But besides the guaranteed laughs at Sanji having a stroke at having some crossdresser (in hot pants too) as a crewmate …
Dellinger has something Sanji doesn't ... its the direct opposite of Sanji[hide]Dellinger = smooth legs
vs
Sanji= hairy legs

The SH's needs a maid. Let Baby 5 join.

The final thing that'd have to be considered is strength of the new Straw Hat. We can clearly break the crew down into 3 groups (Luffy, Zoro and Sanji are the "warriors" of the group they are all really strong and eager to fight), (Brook, Robin and Franky are in the middle, they are all incredibly strong but less so than the other three and are less competitive) and (Chopper, Ussop and Nami who are still strong but not as strong as the others but that's OK they are not worthless since their talents are mainly outside the realm of fighting and also the main thing that holds them back is more there attitude or fear than anything else as when they fight they are formidable and are good tacticians).
I would put Brook together with the weak trio though. Not because of his strenght, but because he is often afraid of getting into fights, while Robin and Franky don't really care about it. A new character on Franky's level would be perfect, then completing with Jinbei at Sanji's level at some point, we would have three groups of 4.

chuckles I have no idea why the talking lion makes you uncomfortable
…unless you mean you are one of the 'female members that has a male avatar'?
Don't worry, many of gals have that hereOnly once have I had a female avatar and that was Otohime's face in the few scenes where she's angry and I colored it.
Rest of the time since I've joined, it was Usopp for almost3 years. Almost a year ago I started to use Undertaker from Black Butler.
Only reason I'm using Cavendish is that I colored that image  -
i really think sabo will join SH. this is the turning point for sabo and he will realize that luffy has become so strong to earn his respect. sabo eats the mera mera no mi and will become SH. pipe-burning sabo! what is the point of bringing back sabo in the series if he will just disappear after this arc because revolutionaries don't get that much screen time. im 1000% sure sabo will win it. eat it. and join SH. mark my word^^

He's been brought back in as another link to Luffy's past and to the revolutionary army….he's not going to be a SH.

That makes absolute sense… Sabo for nakama and first mate
BTW what is the point bringing Ace in in Arabasta just to let him disappear 2 chapters later?
-
I think there can be more than 11 members from a narrative perspective in terms of developing characters and good interactions
Oda just has to pick when he lets each Strawhat shine. Luffy will always get his shine but what of everyone else?
The Dressrosa arc has focused on most of the Strawhats outside Luffy(Zoro, Usopp, Sanji, Robin, and Franky). This is also with Law, Kinemon, and Momo taking a lot of screen time from others. If you replace those 3 with new crewmates that would be a decent template on what we could expect if that many crewmates were added.
I am also not convinced that Blackbeard will stop recruiting with all the potential talent that lies in the New World. He added only ONE pirate maybe from the New World?! I just find it hard to believe he will stop getting more of the strongest pirates.
-
i really hope Nami and Chopper get onscreen 1v1 fights this arc
it's going to really fucking suck if the entirety of their role in the Dressrosa arc was to sit on a ship and cry
even if they end up doing something on Zou, they are deserving of a 1v1 fight I think -

I might be in the minority but I don't believe Brook when he claims to be scared to me it seems like he is just mimicking the others to fit in when things are more serious we see Brooks true courage also lets not forget Brook is a little mad after being alone for 5o years and the man is a walking contradiction. Living yet dead, Happy yet sad, Silly yet serious, a gentlemen yet a perve, Strong yet " Cowardly. We shouldn't confuse the characters attitudes to combat with their strength in combat and "weak trio" is just a dumb name, they are strong just not as willing to fight.

Sabo joining would ruin the whole "brothership". The crewmembers may be like a family to Luffy, may be friends, but in the end they are his subordinates. They are below him and, even if with complaints, will obey his orders.
That's not how things work for brothers. Luffy, Ace and Sabo are equals, they stand in the same ground, Oda would never place one as he others subordinate, they are not Caribou+Coribou. And I am also completely against Sabo eating the Mera Mera. He can win it, but, just like Luffy, do it just to keep it, not to eat. I think it would kinda suck if instead of developing his unique style, Sabo becomes a second come of Ace (even if his usage of the MMnM is different).

Wow that's even worse than my Bellamy theories.

At least you admit that yours is bad as well

Most of the predictions on here and on the board as a whole are mostly shit to be fair. So I'll add to the mix and say the next SH if there is one won't be a female.

I don't really care either way, as long as the next crew mate is a good character then who cares what gender they have; it shouldn't matter if you want a well-told story.

BB added 1 new commander in a span of 2 years. He's pretty picky when it comes for crew leaders, actually.
He's also bound to have his own mooks too, so it's not like he's not recruiting new people.

Or maybe he just really likes the number 10, I have a friend like that.

I'd be totally fine with either Kinemon or Momonosuke joining (Momo could be a cabin boy and Kinemon could be their tailor!)
They got a store's worth of clothes from Pappug. They don't need a tailor.

They had a crapton of clothes before Pappaug too

On a more serious note, is there any more "positions" in the crew that needs to be filled?
I suppose there is a "Helmsman", but the crew seems to manage fine without one. -

I suppose there is a "Helmsman", but the crew seems to manage fine without one.Helmsman, quartermaster, boatswain, lifeguard, striker (fisherman), cabin boy among others. Cooper is pretty much covered between Usopp and Franky.
Helmsman is pretty much a given since Blackbeard has one… but despite Jinbe having steered a ship before, that's really not a good role for him compared to other things that make far more sense for his abilities.

While Blackbeards are supposed be Straw Hats "evil counterpart", are they sure to have exactly same positions too? We already know that they all have their own divisions so they probably leave more menial tasks to lower-ranking members now.
-
I would love viola to join but now that I have thought it over I don't know how she will join.

Well, we know that the Blackbeard Pirates have a Doctor, Swordsman, Navigator, Sniper, and, of course, a Captain (Doc Q, Shiliew, Lafitte, Van Augur, and Blackbeard himself, respectively), just as the Strawhats do. That's 5 of the 11 total crew members for each crew, about half. It seems like a pretty safe bet that the other core members of the Blackbeard crew have the same positions the Strawhats do.
But, then again, we also don't know the roles of the Level 6 guys (sans Shiliew), if they even have them, so IDK, maybe they'll disprove that entirely?

None of them seem to be an Archeologist, a musician, a shipwright or cook. Actually, where does it say that Lafitte is their navigator?

Had to dig to find it. Says it on the little info page at the beginning of Volume 46.
You could make the argument that, while yes, Robin is an archeologist, that her practical purpose on the crew is reconnaissance-based. But you're right, and again, we haven't seen some of the crew mates (specifically the Level 6 guys) do much aside from show up with Blackbeard at the war. So yeah, there's nothing really pointing towards their roles, if they have any, but since we don't know much about them I don't think it's entirely fair for us to say what they are or aren't yet.
-
Thanks. I guess this more or less settles Lafitte as Nami's opponent at the end. I guess it is possible they'll all mirror the Strawhats even in jobs, seems unlikely to me though.
-
I dunno, Lafitte really mirrors Brook over Nami. I think it could go either way.

Having a few similar features doesn't seem to influence much in match-ups.
Remember Daruma? Had plenty in common with Chopper, but ended facing Usopp instead.
