Work continues to be quite good - my colleagues are fun, and the work itself is engrossing if not exactly fun. The commute though…I have such little free time, it hurts, and it's worse because I guilt trip myself over it. I'm not able to be anywhere near as active on Twitter or Facebook or here or in chats with my friends, and I feel it's letting them down somehow. I get home in the evening at about 7:30-8pm (provided nothing has gone wrong, like closed railway lines or tube strikes which have both happened this week) and I have only a few hours before I need to go to bed into which I somehow have to fit my online time and my relaxation time. The two collide, and my need to do things with other people means online tends to win out. I did stay with my aunt last night though and didn't go online as a result and got to have a long shower and more time asleep so maybe I can vary things.
Beginning to wonder if I'd rather have an isolated bedsit with a 1 hour commute than my lovely flat with friends and cats and a 2 hour commute.
@TheCrystalShip:
No, but I was there. I'm reluctant to say much now that it's gotten much bigger than I expected. The Hollywood Reporter initially misrepresented or omitted the facts, and so none of the news outlets have accurately reported what really happened, though I'm thankful for any support (however nebulous) that we have received. I'm going to lay low on social media while I sort this all out, which is something that I'm already very much in the process of doing, so don't worry about that.
Hey, proud of you for doing this. You'll get hate for making the stand, and straw manned into a parody of yourself, but the event itself still has repercussions and gets the debate out there, maybe gives people reason to pause and consider something they had not. Activism is often a lot of work for little gain so I'm glad this seems to have paid off.
@DarkFalcon:
You ha advantage over me since I don't speak slightest bit of Czech.
I thought the two languages were vaguely similar, given they're both West Slavic? Obviously not mutually intelligible, but perhaps guessable? Although you don't use the same accents.
