Back when I first came to the forums, there were still enough large breaks in 'internet fads' that I felt it was pretty much safe to make a new thread each time a new Star Wars Kid, Numa Numa clip or "Every time you….", etc. came out.
The times they have a' changed.
The likes of Google Video, You Tube and classic Flash sites have brought Internet media to a raging fire. That said:
We need one place to keep everything so we can have some fun and keep the forum clean and organized.
Things we DON'T need
1. More virulent than, "OMFG THIS ROXORS", posts are, "Oh man this is so old I saw it like XXXXXXX ago." Contrary to popular belief, the standard of what is new or not doesn't revolve around the opinion of one person. This problem can easily be cured by removing….
2. People who don't use the Search function. If you've found a clip that is freakin' hysterical and you wanna share it with everybody, save yourself the time with a moment using the Search button. It will just keep things tidy in here.
3. I'm not going to set the standards for quality because our Operator WZ was already kind enough to set such standards. Let's keep it PG-13-ish. Yes, we all know some of the best videos contain the 'F-word' so that's unavoidable. Luckily the major video search engines filter out crap and mostly adhere to our own PG-13 standard. However I know there are plenty of sites that have unfiltered video clips such as:
Acts of terrorism
Sex/Blatant nudity in some form or another
Blatant Racism
Let's make sure at LEAST those stay away from here. The best way to handle this is, if you're having second thoughts about posting something, DON'T.
Things we WANT
1. Label your clips be they Flash or film. Use tag words and of course include the title if possible. This will help the site's Search function hit the video and avoid repeating posts.
2. Fun and interesting movies. This includes stupidity, education, heroism, irony, cuteness, commercials, originality, etc. As long as they adhere to our other rules then I don't see why they shouldn't be posted here. The only thing I can stress more than anything else here is:
IF IT SEEMS DANGEROUS DON'T TRY IT AT HOME
3. Your opinions. If you don't like a video, feel free to discuss it, but let's not start a war that can't be settled in PM. So long as the media adheres to these rules then if you can constructively crticize or praise the work concisely then by all means go for it. If the media doesn't adhere to these rules then please contact a Mod.
These are the base rules. If we find any kind of problem that as of this thread's creation was unforseen, myself or a Mod. may ammend them at any time not to mention just as easily abolish this thread and ultimately deprive ourselves of what could be a lot of fun. I hope that doesn't happen because this thread was created in the name of fun!
