Well great. And there was I already believing togashi would get off his lazy ass. Now the waiting game begins anew.

Noted. Any info/update on the HxH source?
It wasn't from Jump. And as of yet, no confirmation on where it was from, so likely a well made fake.
Also, kaze confirmed the TOC to be legit.
-
Someone who'd go that far only to troll people is a giant asshole.
-
Sweet. Togashi's lazy streak continues.
-
Oh HELL YEAH HACHI.
Watching the monsters get mowed down by JSDF's modern artillery is awesome.
I hate the trope of modern military force somehow being unreasonably powerless to insignificant threat. -
Was it mentioned why Toriko´ll be absent next week?
There is no need to be a diferrent reason that Shima wanting to rest.
-
I know it doesn´t have to be anything special for him to get a week to rest, but it could be that he was sick, wounded, or had a personal issue. I am a curious person.

I hate the trope of modern military force somehow being unreasonably powerless to insignificant threat. It is definitely refreshing to see and makes the good guys' position not quite so hopeless… but you'd think the bad guys would have prioritized destroying that stuff...

Or he just wants to gather info for future arcs.
-
seems the likeliest option. I'd put money down that more titles have taken a week off for research than illness with Jump.
-
I'm glad Hachi seems to be doing well, I like the setting and hope for good developments.
-
I thought about that too. If I were to list all possibilities it would have been a very long post…

Hachi is not really doing well. first rank was terrible and it is 4th from the bottom this week.

Even if it's just authors drawing single illustrations of their favorite shoujo titles, I think this is going to be pretty sweet.
-
It'll also have another chapter of Orekoi, which is super exciting. one wonders if Viz's recent license means we'll be seeing these crossovers in their jump.
Also make note of Ryo Nakama being in there. Shueisha clearly think he's the real shit.

Anyone keeping score on how many color pages Kubo's gotten this year ? :ninja:
-
funny, almost no one talk about Soul Catcher…but this manga seems to have survived among this year's starters....
-
No one talks about Soul Catcher(S) cause iMangascans has been sitting on Lynxian's translations for a long while. There are translations up to ch 11, but only up to 3 has been released. And Batoto doesn't have ch 1 up.
-
Soul Catchers is the new Cross Manage, just barely staying alive by pulling the ol' bait and switch with another newbie series right before the axe falls..

I wonder if anyone could do a breakdown of the series currently running in Jump by genre ? Mostly so I could tell what would be potentially interesting :O

I'd honestly put Beelzebub into Gag Manga as its priority because it just does so much better on its humor side rather than action side most of the time.

Soul Catchers got really tacky for me quickly. It's one of the few manga I actually skip pages.
I think Isobe cemented itself as the new Masaru-san/Jaguar. It's so stupid it's good.
And yes, calling it stupid is probably the highest form of praise. -

Any information about OPman? I just find it weird that they are putting it in this magazine. It's been over a month since the last release, so at least we are getting one.

It's getting a one-shot this week, yeah, but it's had two extra chapters released since the last chapter on tonarinoyj published in Young Jump and Young Jump Seed and both of which were translated in english in WSJ.

Gag =/= Comedy. Series like Gintama, Assassination Classroom, and to use an older example Sket Dance are story-driven comedies, whilst most of the shorter page-count are joke-driven.
Joke-driven titles are gag manga, see. As in they're manga about the gags.
Story-driven are sitcoms. I know I'm splitting hairs, but nowadays just about anything with a comedic aspect to it gets called a gag manga. Just seems off for series with more to it than jokes, especially gintama (not that I don't think gag manga are the tits. For a time all I scanlated was gag manga.)

Kurokuroku had potential, but I'm glad Himdedol is gone. The series just wasn't good.

One Piece absent again, nooooo. Oh well, kinda used to it by now and oda deserves his breaks.^^

He at least gave us a quality chapter before his break.

Which makes the breaks all the longer.

I'm curious how Naruto got to #2.
-
Is this Iron knight new series the serialization of that Goblin Knight oneshot from a while back? The artstile seems really familiar judging from the cover and well the onshot was enjoyable.
-
I'm really happy to see Hq!! that high up on the list.
I've been reading it for a couple of months now and am finding it rather enjoyable despite the art style being a bit weird and the story obviously not being as stellar as in something like Eyeshield or Slam Dunk. It's still very much in the build-up stage, but things are slowly starting to gear towards a point where it becomes gripping. You know, that point in all sports manga where the team finally becomes unified and finds new spirit in teamwork. It's simple-minded fun done relatively well. Pretty much like Nisekoi, although much less whimsical.

It's the same mangaka Tomohiro Yagi not sure if it is the serialization of that one shot though.
-
it's a serialisation, funnily enough, of his Iron Knight one-shot from Jump VS, which wasn't altogether different from said Goblin Knight one-shot
-
Has anyone who lives in Japan read this "Iron Knight" series?
-
The issue isn't out yet.
-
Well, after checking out Iron Knight…
Wow, this thing is frighteningly similar in execution to Hachi. Like to the point where I have to wonder if they're preparing to axe Hachi for poor ratings, because I can't see them greenlighting something so identical without that in mind. Kid with love interest that is far too open to be an obvious point of romantic drama who gets predictably swept away in the first chapter, kid wakes up after calamity has transformed normal modern society into monstrous hellscape, kid turns out to be just another one of the monsters who must use his powers against them...everything is the same. But despite how much I like Nishi's weirdness and originality in Hachi...I think Iron Knight is better. It's REALLY well done. Great art, excellent use of tension, well-executed all around.
