Okay, geographical measurements. The man seems to have a pretty good touch on most other measurements, but he keeps messing up when it comes to distances.

The thing is that this time he didn't messed anything! And I believe the only time he did that was with Hody, so why are you saying "keeps messing"?

He as a lot of others(if not every) shonen mangaka sometimes use huge numbers, for shock value. Values like 5 days fight of Ace vs Jinbei or the 10 days fight of Akainu vs Aokiji are a lot of times more problematic than Violet's 4000 Km vision range.
While Nobody can fight for as long as a day, without a huge stop, there exist birds that make more than that distance and even a legend of a girl nicknamed Blue-eyed dove, because she had a vision similar of that of Violet(She could see caravans 3 days far).

Violet is acting weird since yesterday and it just happens that she got distracted right when she wanted to tell what she's going to do after her escape.

This kinda smells like a plot twist coming in. Like, we could assume that since yesterday participants of the tournament arrived. So what if e.g. she stumbled upon Burgess, who found her ability rather interesting? :ninja:

Here's to hoping Sanji's clash with DD shows us some of his real development (and is not a 1 sided toying or Sanji's only weapons being broken ie his legs).

Diable Jambe is the new 'normal Sanji attack', just like CoA+gear 2 is the new 'normal Luffy attack'. He has many more stronger attacks up his sleeve.

Good chapter,this arc needs more action in my opinion. Hopfully Sanji and dolfas fight is a great warm up before everyone starts fighting. I understand the story needs build up but PH was somewhat disappointing on the action side. Hopfully Sanji doesn't just get an ass whooping or controlled right away. We will get to see how much Sanji has grown but also how scary doflas power can be and what he can do. If dd didn't even need haki for that attack Sanji is in trouble, but then again dofla mentioned how strong vergos haki was I don't think dofla is a better coa user but I'm interested to see how his coO will come into play. Zoro needs a fight asap I really want to see how much he has grown he still has a untouchable aura since the timeskip

I think Bastile is totally gonna fight with Zoro, the dude is near him and he had that large ass sword, it'd be awesome to see it happen.

and about the Haki thing; dudes with emperor haki seem to focus on it more than the other two types, so its safe to assume that Vergo's armor haki is on a higher level than that of Doffy.

I think Dofla might be very handicapped in this fight if he has to use his hands to keep himself from fallin into the water.
Maybe hell be forced to fight with his legs and out of his element, if you look at the epicness panel it looks like that is exactly what's going on.

This could force him to retreat back to the shore as long as Sanji doesn't allow him to get on the Sunny.

Ok after I reread the chapter here are my thoughts on this week's chapter

We start of with the cover story, where Caribou really got a hefty amount of "screen" time. This was a story which went in all kinds of directions and quite frankly to me it was dragging. I have no doubt that Oda has it pictured well in his head and that this will play into some grander scheme of things later on. But personally I am glad it is over, it wasn't exactly one of my favorite.

Than we start a chapter with a short flashback showing us Sanji exchanging places with Zoro, so he could be the "white knight" saving Nami. No surprises really, as I guess is not him handing the map to toy factory over to Kinemon instead of Zoro, but even so, nice touch Oda. I smiled at that one.
Oda continues of with Bartolomeos fanboyism. I admit it is some funny stuff, but I just hope it wont be used too often because I kind of liked Barto when he was all serious as well. Him not being able to communicate normally with SH would be a shame to waste imo.
This next part of the chapter is actually my favorite.
The design and intrigue behind a "new" character Gradius. He has that "cool" looking design and theme going for him, but he also have that unique goofiness only Oda can deliver. Needless to say, I like his design a lot. The interesting bit about him atm is that little bit of info we are given.

looks like his short temper can lead to him blowing up - > the interesting thing about that is however when you think he will spikey hair.. seems random but I bet behind it all is a cool ability.
His suit makes him look like some kind of machine man.
What I also find interesting is the amount of loyalty DF's crew has toward their "young master"
He must have done some really important stuff for them in the past, the question is though. Has he done it for his own profit or is there actually that other side of him, we will come to know and aint that cold and happy clappy one…

Next up Violet with her strange and a bit OP ability. (the girl can see as far as 4000km and is able to reveal plans of people as well... now that is what you call useful)
After that we are on the SH's ship where the "weak" trio + brook and momo have ganged up on artist lady. lol at Momo and his antics in that one...

Back to Green Bit Law shows once again why he is probably one of the most resourceful and smartest characters in the series we have met so far. Escaping from DF and Fujitora and trying to execute a plan. It is also really nice to see that he actually does seem to care about the well being of the SH's and is also willing to put himself on the line in order for the plan to work.
His plan doesnt work however as DF figures it out and tries to attack the ship and than in the last minute enter Sanji aka "mr. Prince"

No idea what so ever what to think on that one. I guess you could say Sanji will get his ass wooped or that he will at most be able to stall and gain time. But I am actually rooting and hoping he shows Luffy really has a strong crew backing him up. And him being one of the monsters... would be really nice if he really takes it to DF and surprises us all.

All and all a good chapter :)

Are they distinguished by different kanji, or is there some kind of language structure that you can tell them apart by - I'm just wondering because if it's the kanji, how are you able to tell which is being used in speech…? Other than working it out by context I suppose.

I think it's usually just context and phrasing, but it's also usually not written with kanji. The kanji used in the raw you linked is probably valid in either case but I'm not 100% sure. Sorry that's not a concrete answer lol.

I doubt a ship with the three subordinate could have made it on time. And for the he had his most trusted subordinate here plus a bomb as safe plan. He really had no reason to assume he would need to get there personally especially since he would have to wait for them from the outside anyway.

And what he was aiming for at that time was Law head and secure Ceasar. Nothing requiring to wipe out the crew.

Yeah, he's not underestimating them NOW after seeing how much trouble they are causing him and the people who have fallen to them in the past. It doesn't really matter since he's going to fall by their hands, anyways.

What makes you think Oda would have Zoro fight someone who stands no chance against him? Is it because you think Zoro will obtain a bounty of 300Mil or more after defeating him or something? Obviously you must be underestimating Zoro if you actually think he's so weak that he would need to fight Cavendish, but that's just what it seems like you're thinking if you ask me.

At the same time, Cavendish may be an enemy but Luffy has no reason to fight him which is why Luffy hasn't smashed his face into the ground yet, he only grabbed his blade to stop him from attacking him. A Zoro-Cavendish clash does seem pretty nailed down. When cavendish sees another of the supernovas who took his fame, as well Zoro getting his usual boner for fighting powerful swordsmen, it's gonna be ooon.

I think Violet was sent to target Sanji because of his weakness to women but also because of his tactical capabilities. Each of the strawhats has a weakness that could have been exploited but it was Sanji was targeted because he is also the Strawhats primary tactician.

I think Zoro will be interested in fighting him because of Durandal, we know Zoro loves a great sword. I would of course expect Zoro to emerge victorious, but not by the huge margin that you do.

Zoro is only interested in Katanas, not double edged piercing blades. He also already has 3 comfortable blades of his own. Legendary ones. Why would a Katana user be interested in a blade that isn't a Katana?
The only person who would be interested in such a sword would be Tashigi since she doesn't want criminals to have them.

At the same time Cavendish isn't a bad enemy. He's a good and special character. Oda isn't going to take away his blades just to give it to someone who is only interested in Katanas.

Then there's the issue where you think that Zoro has to put in effort just to beat him, right? Cavendish has a pathetic growth rate when it comes to power. All those years that went by and he was only capable of gaining a bounty in the 200's. That means the things he has done hasn't been so serious that he would deserve a special bounty over 300Mil.

At the same time Cavendish's feats reflect in his bounty and shows the level he is at. Luffy before the TS accomplished a 300Mil bounty and couldn't even mess with a Pacifista. How do you think Cavendish would deal with one? Zoro & Sanji took out a Pacifista with one blow because they desired to do so. the whole point of cavendish is that he hasn't done anything like destroying enies lobby and STILL has a 280m bounty. I'd more than comfortably assume he could finish off a pacifista if zoro and sanji can 1 shot one. I agree Zoro doesn't give a shit about the sword.

There are lots of people who haven't done crazy crap like Luffy and his crew and still have higher bounties than Cavendish. It also doesn't change the things I've said.

The Monster trio took on a Pacifista and almost lost. They got lucky because Usopp's bomb went into the Pacifista's mouth. Cavendish doesn't stand a chance against one if those overpowerd trio almost lost fighting one. Actually, the entire crew went up against it and almost lost. lol

Eh…I never said Zoro wanted to take Durandal. I just said he'd be interested in it. As in he'd identify Cavendish as worth fighting because he owns a legendary sword.

Also eh bounties aren't an indication of strength. It's a indication of threat to the government. With Cavendish's pretty clean image for a pirate, it's actually fairly impressive that his bounty is that high.

It's also pretty presumptuous to say that Cavendish wouldn't be able to harm a Pacifista having never seem him fight properly.

it doesn't change what you said because you left out events like cavendish stopping don chinjao with a normal sword strike. You also directly associate bounty with power level in your post. Luffy had a 300m bounty pre-ts, had no clue about haki. Cavendish had already been in the new world for a year. Bounty can be a good indicator of strength - normally high bounty means strong, but it doesn't mean low bounty is weak(er). Barto's a good example of that.

The other rookies with higher bounties have (1) sent 100 pirate hearts to the marines, (2) cut off other pirates legs, or (3) been known to terrorize innocent towns. Shakky has confirmed bounties will rise if you're cruel and gruesome. Apoo is the only outlier here. It's impressive dainty Cavendish has managed to get his bounty this high.

9.5/10. I loved thsi chapter.

Sanji and Violet's plot continues to be the best part of the arc. Their interactions are so cute and the development around her character is very interesting. The end was badass. I highly doubt they'll fight for long. I think Sanji will just stall Dofla while Law gives Caesar to the Sunny retrieval team and tells them what do to and then he'll take Sanji's place. Unfortunately, I think Violet will be grabbed while Sanji's at Green Bitt.

Speaking of Law, he was simply incredible. His strategic mind shines through. On the fly, he was able to outwit Dofla and Fujitora. But, I think Law's kinda gaining Fujitora's respect for his guts, while he despises Dofla for hiding behind his connections.

Bartolomeo is so funny. I also liked the Zoro and Kin'emon interaction, plus Wicca in Zoro's shirt. Gradius' design is awesome and his quirk is innovative.
