The names of Trebol, Pica and Diamante are Clover, Spade and Diamond (the poker stuff) in Spanish.
My god he's right!

Excellent chapter. Always enjoy chapters that give information like this.
I hope that getting beaten up was part of Laws plan, otherwise he's not the greatest strategist ever!
I just read new chapter and wondered why Doflamingo explains to Law about the history of 20 royalty in that situation .
probably because law asked how he was able to fake his defection from the shichibukai.
Man Nami is just always getting stuck in someone else's idea of art and beauty
I hope that getting beaten up was part of Laws plan, otherwise he's not the greatest strategist ever!
He's a doctor. Not a strategist.

He's a smart guy. But there is no way any pirate will know Dolfo's background unless you're in the know.
the wikia says he is the twelth, counting an average age of 70 for every king you have 840 years of reign (but you can easily increase it if you rise the average at 80),and counting cobra age of..50?60? you reach more than 800 years of reign of the nefertari family…how long ago was the foundation of the WG?
You're doing some obvious mistake here. We're talking about years of reign. A king do not have power for all his life, but - say - from 30 till when he's dead. For something like this to hold, we need a very old king, such that his son dies (so that we skip a generation and can keep the numbers low)
Man Nami is just always getting stuck in someone else's idea of art and beauty
She's stuck in oda's idea of art and beauty.
Great moments for Caribou, Cavendish and even Rebecca for the start of round D.
Wicca shows some personality and starts to fill us in on the big fighters of the Dofla family. Looks like things are finally setting into place.
Some background into how the Celestial Dragons and royalty works, but for me the unhappy expression on Fujitora hinted in things being a little more complex than Dofla assumes.
The Djora/ Brook flirtation/ fight was great and now that it's over we can move onto other things. Next episode looks like the chaos is just going to erupt. Looking forward to it!
I think you actually managed to contradict even yourself there. Or at least the possibility of that exists. :P
Think of Kohza, remember the guy? This is incredibly hard to say, since we obviously know nothing about whether Alabasta accepts Queens holding the highest authority, but I should think Kohza will become the next king of Alabasta through marriage. It doesn't change the maths, no, there you have it right, but if it happens what it does open up is exactly the possibility of kings coming to power via means other than being a child of the previous king, which in turn provides ground for the argument of families reigning long without the figures being too warped.
That's all pointless speculation, of course. But it's a fun thought nonetheless.
Sure, but you would expect that line not to be the Nefertari line but the [surname of Kohza] line, right? Granted, that's an assumption, but you would expect it to be so … plus, that's still only a generation later ... it's improbable that through such means you'd get a series of 12 Nefertari rulers sapnning 900 years.
Of course, it's not important anyway :p I assume it will get brushed under the rug with something like a usurper's rule in the middle somewhere given as explanation in SBS. Could also explain why Cobra doesn't seem to be much in the know about some things.
@indigo~ink:
You can only be King or Queen by birthright. If the King takes a wife, she assumes a courtesy title of "Queen Consort". However the husband of a reigning Queen cannot become King Consort. A woman takes the rank and title of her husband, but not vice versa. Think of the British monarchy - Prince Philip did not take the title King Consort.
Therefooore the 800 year span accounts for 12 Kings, but also however many Queens that had reigned over Alabasta. No plot hole. :>
This. It is surprising how many people seem to think that a ruling monarch can only be a male, a King, when in the Real World things do not work that way.
Queen Elizabeth II is a prime example, as is/was Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands (she abdicated this year and is now referred as Princess Beatrix). Her late husband was Prince Bernhard, not King Bernhard.
The Netherlands has actually had a Queen, not a King for three generations in a row: Queen Beatrix, her mother, Queen Juliana and her grandmother Queen Wilhelmina.
(My Dutch friend told me that there were quite a lot of jokes how everything in the speeches and such has to be changed now when they have a King for the first time after about 120 years...)
Also, the Crown Princess Victoria will be the future Queen of Sweden and her husband is Prince Daniel, not King Daniel. (Their infant daughter, Princess Estelle also will be the next queen regnant -"a female monarch who reigns in her own right"- after her mother if nothing drastic happens.)
i think the deal breaker was that if you want to become a celestial dragon, you have to forfeit your sovereign on your country..maybe the affection towards their home country was a recurrent trait in the nefertari family
It could be, but the idea of "World Noble" status probably became the issue at that time, they must be felt it's unnecessary and will create the seed of chaos/rebellion. Even the words "World Nobles… Slaves... Human shops... Against the "purity" of these "upper classes", the villains of the world look positively humane in comparison. It's because the world's in the hands of scum like them that it's all screwed to hell... I mean, we're not the nicest of guys, but at least we're honest about it." can come from pirate like Kidd.
Of course the affection towards their home country can be the main reason.
@.access:
I feel a bit mad for Jora (I know you all hate this discussion, and I usually don't bring it up even though it bothers me, but it annoys me how woman can't be hurt in OP, but ugly woman =/= woman).
When you think about it, the violence was still toned down because she was a woman! We didn't see any blood did we? Guess in One Piece only women can make other women bleed. :getlost:
This chapter clearly sends the message: Donquixote's too much of a big shot to go down in Dressrosa or w/in the Dressorsoa arc and Diamante, with the other two suits, is the primary villain of this arc. Law already had his share of the action, he's out for the meantime. I wonder what'll happen with him.

As great as it is that people realise queens exist, that is so not a reason this isn't a plot hole. What, jsut on some really assumed semantic basis? I don't know exactly what Cobra said. but it seems the correct assumption to me that if he did use specifically the word 'king', he nonetheless meant 'ruler' or 'sovereign' - in other words, a sovereign queen in between kings would also be counted. Sure, Oda could duck the contradiction now by going "eh, well I guess Cobra was only talking about the male rulers, and sometimes there were females too, which he didn't count!" but that just makes the original line itself really really really really strange.
Hmmmmmmmmmmm
Cobra said he was the xth king of Alabasta, yes? It was like 11th or so? That's far too few to be a family older than 800 years. Oda, you made a plothole? :(
Anyway, mmm, yes. Pica picachu (hey) had his name confirmed and it wasn't espada ;_; But anyways, he's so small! hahaha but really tough looking. Like "KNOCKOUT TACKLE" should be an attack for him or something.
The three seat holders hyped a little more!! And with Toy Soldier's spiel, Doflamingo has been made out to be ever more nasty.
Meanwhile, lol at Luffy thinking of Garp and Chinjao at the 't's not her fault what her grandpa did!' moment. Maybe … Roger and Ace? But anyway ...
Cavendish's interaction with teh crowd satisfying, as I expected it to be. But I expected it to come at the end, not at the beginning.
Jora's been beaten?? That was way too quick O.O That said, it was great how Brook did it :D And they are headed to Green Bit as well! Wonderful, huh?
But then, Sanji finds out this is the case from Violet - although he thinks that they're still in trouble. I'm thinking Sanji and Kinemon will keep on going with rescuing Kanjuro while maybe Zoro goes to Green Bit? In any case, Doflamingo seems to have already beaten Law! I reckon this would be a wonderful time for vs Puppet Law if Oda's going to do it at all. And with it a Law flashback? Yeah, that would be nice.
Doflamingo's revelation wasn't all that impressive, but it's nice to have it confirmed I guess? Although one must wonder, is Doflamingo the direct heir? Because if so, it makes it kinda surprising he was off sailing around as a pirate and then reclaimed the kingdom. And if he's not the direct heir, it's surprising he reclaimed the kingdom! And in any case, why would he suddenly reclaim Dressrosa? Just for piratical reasons? Business? The needs of the government? Or because he feels some need to take what he sees as his birthright? This is what still needs to be answered!
Also ... really ... the Riku Royalists have only been preparing for a year. And the former royal army was wiped out by the three seated members. They are so unprepared . . .
Oh, we've had Swamp Swamp Gatling Gun so
Why not:
Swamp Swamp Factory! - for mobile labour
Swamp Swamp Ship! - for when kidnapped by Jinbe
Swamp Swamp Crew! - to prevent crew getting left behind during raids
Swamp Swamp Bro! - for tight spots
lets do the maths and estimate every king lived 80 years
80 x 11 = 880
Are you a little slow mate? Unless I didn't get what you were saying

That's assuming the next king was born on the same day as the previous one died. Which… isn't really plausible.

Why is it not possible? He could be defeated or kind of make a run from the country.
I think that he is a too important character that he surely is going to play a big part in the future. Even if he is not really defeated - he ain't gonna have a layed back live on DR anymore. The revolution and the SH make sure of it - and the destruction of the factory. What reason would there be for Flamingo to stay on DR longer?
But if he is defeated, what I think, that this is going to make a shift in the world. Don't know in which direction but it surely will.
And as for Diamante - he is reserved for Zorro. He still has to cut diamonds. And what better alternative is there now for him! Besides Pica kina looks like Franky and Trebol is for Sanji. Violet works under Trebol and he made Violet cry and Sanji ain't gonna let that go

Why not? This is the new world, it's time for big shots to start going down.
Law is just accumulating bruises upon bruises, PH was yesterday in One Piece time and he's already looking exactly the same! Dude needs a Kuzan level ice pack for all this shit. Jora is doing a straight-up B-Boy stance and was it a mangapanda error or did she really mean the painting she had ChoNamSuke trapped in was in some way representative of Dressrosa's history? I'm seeing hands blocking a sun, a crowned thing with wings and a crying eye.
FuS
This chapter gave each group the right amount of screentime. Cavendish got a nice moment along with Brook, while reading I was expecting him to just be faking, glad I was right :]
Next week's looks promising.
Maybe this is also the reason why the Shichibukai were founded? To keep Flamingo, who somehow didn't end up living like those Mary Joa CDs, save and avoid the public figuring something out about his heritage? Maybe he claimed his birthright and became known as a pirate then and to avoid the marines going after him, the WG founded a new institution!?!
NO IT'S NOT, considering that Boa Hancock has been a shichibukia way longer before Doflamingo became one so NO.
1. So he's "white horse cavendish" huh? He'll join strawhats and fight that creepy doctor on horse! (lol)
2. Did Luffy just seriously said he hates Cavendish? Seems a bit weird for me that Luffy says he hates someone… when they are not big bad like Croc or Doffly... Maybe he just said he doesnt like him or smth? Anyone got raw?
3. Lol Cabbage and speaker on horse - LOL :D
4. That charisma... can he... have King's Haki? :) Would make sense imo.
5. Cabbage's hilarious :)
6. I hope you get passionately stabbed ;]
7. Epic and hilarious brook, gj !
8. Poor defeated Law, but i guess that was obvious he won't defeat Dofly, and best case scenario flee. But last time he managed to stand up after taking a beating and own Vergo. Maybe he''ll still manage to run away to ship when SHs come... but what's stoping Doffly to run after them? Heh dunno :P
9. So it basicaly confirms that Doflamingo is celestial dragon right? Or at least have celestial dragon ancestors.

Yes if I remember correctly according to Aohige Luffy said "I still don't like him" something like that.
I wonder if Ussop could have pulled of a bluff like this if he was on the ship instead of Brook.
Ussop is smart and awesome when needed. Im sure he could pull a bluff and own her when he's not only sniper king but also king of Liars :P Ok maybe not, but i believe in him xD He also got some artistic talents as seen when he drew the flag for SHs etc. so he could use that instead of 'music=art' used by Brooku.
Oh screw that, he's awesome mansopp, im sure he would own her before he did anything to him :P
Caribou and the others….revolt? I am seriously wondering what's the long term plan for Caribou's cover story. How long has it been, like over 30 chapters now?
Anyway.....D Block begins. People continue to jeer at Rebecca, and some of the combatants plot to take her down. And the fabulous Cavendish enters via horseback!
Dunno about the rest of you, but I liked Cavendish's little speech. If they aren't going to fight, then why should they jeer? At least it shows everyone's favorite rookie (lol when he got stars in his eyes) has some honor. No doubt in my mind, D Block will boil down to Cavendish vs. Rebecca.
Meanwhile on the Sunny, Brook manages to fool the Straw Hats and Jora.....getting his equipment back and cutting her down. Now I kinda wanted Nami, Chopper, or hell even all three to beat her, but.......Brook cutting Jora down in artmode was too cool.
Wicca tells Zoro about the Suit members, while Franky meets up with Robin and Usopp. Hmmm….
But the highlight of the chapter is at the end, where.....wow, Law got messed up. Doflamingo tells him about some history, that his family was one of the original 20 leaders that started the WG. Only the Nefertari family did not participate.....very interesting stuff! And it only cements the fact that Dofla is a lot more powerful then it lets on. I'm itching to know more, Oda.
Good chapter.
Sanji, Zoro, and kinemon sure are running around a lot this arc again. Also, weren't they supposed to be heading under the colosseum to save kanjuro/destroy the factory?
Chapter was better as expected… Cavendish was awesome... And the seats really seem to monsters
Yeah chapter was great, but are they really monsters? Probably yes, but defeating an army isn't a big deal in OP. They were probably all fodders. Im sure Zoro or Luffy alone would win too.
Where is it stated that Hancock is part of them longer?
! 13 years ago she became Empress and captain of Kuja pirates and went for her 1st campaign which earned her the bounty of 80million berries and the WG took notice of her invited her to become a shichibukia.
This was a great chapter. Now I really want to see how Law will get out of this.
Sanji, Zoro, and kinemon sure are running around a lot this arc again. Also, weren't they supposed to be heading under the colosseum to save kanjuro/destroy the factory?
Franky, Robin, Usopp and thousands of dwarfs are good enough, so you saying they should ignore Nami and co with Sunny go?

in the baloon it is written 11 not 13.
also..do we know when dofla became a shichibukai?
it's seems that Doflamingo theme is spain culture

You forgot 2 years Timeskip? Yes I think in Punkhazard it mentioned Dofla has been a shichibukia for 10yrs
This chapter revealed a bit of the history in one piece but still nothing about Flamingos past and his plans. He is a CD but why is he a pirate and powers up a yonkou with smiles, despite having the goal of becoming pirate king… still a lot of questions which needs to be answered.
in the baloon it is written 11 not 13.

That didn't say much…
Am I wrong or 10 years ago was the last time Law saw Dofla?
I bet Doflamingo used a Stone Cold Stunner to take down Law
You forgot 2 years Timeskip? Yes I think in Punkhazard it mentioned Dofla has been a shichibukia for 10yrs
It was mentioned that he became a king 10 years ago.
15 years ago Vergo became a marine on Flamingos behalf - Vergo was always part of Flamingos Crew. So it could very well be that Flamingo was roaming as a free and normal pirate till 13 years ago (he might have become a pirate right after Rogers execution which he witnessed) and became a Shichibukai at the same time as Hancock.
So the theory that the Shichibukai were founded because of Flamingo is not really unvalid - it still remains a possibility. There is so little we know about this institution itself that you might consider it because of Flamingos heritage and the standing of the CD. About Hancock becoming a Shichibukai - I know.
Some background into how the Celestial Dragons and royalty works, but for me the unhappy expression on Fujitora hinted in things being a little more complex than Dofla assumes.
the thing still can't seem to figure out is why most of the celestial dragons are dressed so weird still kida think that there desendents might still have been aliens we know there is at least something out there which might only be related to the acient kingdom itself and eneru's cover story and they are just kings but look at them.
That aside great chaper lot's of stuff happened (if this where any other shonen manga we'd probaly have spend the whole chapter jet again in the coloseum) Brook taking out jola din't saw that coming at first Dolfla's speech to Law while he was on the ground and canvadish a bit more likeble now.
That didn't say much…
Am I wrong or 10 years ago was the last time Law saw Dofla?
10 years ago he took over Dressrosa meaning after he became shichibukia he went to take over a country to settle down since WG won't come after him or his subordinates.
How about the story of Zephyr? They said that the pirate that killed his family was recruited to be a member of the Shichibukai. Isn't that long enough? Wait… Is that story canon?
The pirate became shichibukai just 1 year ago.
Dofla will be defeated at dressrosa. Else they cant fight Kaidu. Its simple logic, I think.
Dofla is still dependent on LAW to insert the heart? Do we know whether people with no heart have any problems?
kk Nobody cares about Rebecca. She's about to get owned.
I like that the "family members" are being regarded so highly in terms of strength. Zoro and Sanji need a good matchup, They've barely broken a sweat since the time skip. Particularly Zoro. We know Zoro sama is the harbinger of terror. Give zoro a bad ass fight. Thanks.
LOL, is it really Cesar's heart?
I think Celestial Dragons wear "spacesuits" to not breathe the same air people of the Blues breathes and to not get Viruses that they would bring to Marijoa
