Damn that sucks. Its pretty hard to imagine the industry would be what it is today if it wasn't for him. RIP.

http://mynintendonews.com/2013/09/19/soulcalibur-2-hd-could-come-to-wii-u-if-theres-the-demand/ say if the demand to have Soul Caliber 2 HD on Wii U with link is high enough it could happen. They even encouraged gamers to spam the producer’s Twitter @hoshino_calibur account if they’re interested.
-
Well it's the only way I'd buy a Soul Calibur game again….
Interestingly. The 3DS apparently only needs 103,000 sales in Japan before it now overtakes the Wii's Japan sales. Considering it did twice that this week with Monster Hunter and Pokemon is a coming, we should see that no problem =3

I just want the one with the best image quality.
So it's really between the 3DS and 3DS XL since, most likely, I will alternate between 3D on and 3D off. And the 2DS won't give me the 3D off option.
Unless the 3D is that bad like what a few people say.
Portability isn't much of an issue.
I just want to know which one has the best quality. Some say 3DS, some say 3DS XL.

Just to keep it simple:
3DS = if your priority is portability and spending less money. This is the one I have and that's because it fits in my pocket.
3DS XL = if your priority is image quality. This is the one I'm not getting yet simply because I anticipate a Smash Bros. version and there's no way I'll miss that when it happens. Although I am tempted to get the Pokemon one …
-
he said his priority is "Image Quality", not "size of screen"
because the xl has the same resolution as the vanilla 3ds, just a bigger screen. meaning each individual pixel is bigger. meaning less pixel density. meaning more jaggies.
and to me, that's "worse image quality" right there. to others, who find the 3ds too scrunched to see properly, making it bigger is only a plus. so ShinigamiKing, if you want your games to look as smooth as possible, then original 3DS is the way to go. it just depends on what sort of "quality" you want.
also I think the 3D works great, and I play with it on as much as possible. I guess it fucks with some people's eyes, but I love it. not hard at all to find and hold that sweet spot. you do get some ghosting when there are models in front of black surfaces, though.
but in the end, you're still getting a system that plays great games, so whatever you pick you're gonna enjoy it.
-
Thanks a lot guys for the advice.
Can't wait to play the shit ton of great games this system has.
Mario 3D Land
Shin Megami Tensei IV
Soul Hackers
LoZ Oot 3D
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3Detc.

so did the WIndwaker remake have the tingle tuner mini game removed or did it get turned into a new game completely?
-
Don't forget Kid Icarus! Must play for 3DS owners.
Also, I folded. Dammit, I really wanted to wait for the physical copy of Wind Waker HD but I'm apparently really impatient and went ahead and got it digital. Frankly, I really just wanted the box, but since I get the poster from club nintendo I get the awesome art regardless.
I also figure I want to spend these three weeks on it so that afterwards I can devote my life almost entirely to pokemon X.I haven't stopped having stuff to play on my Wii U since Earthbound at this point and on my 3DS since Mario Kart 7. Extremely satisfied with Nintendo right now. Let the good times roll.
-

I think it was replaced.
Instead there is this Tingle Bottle system. Where you basically write a message in a bottle and toss it into the sea. It goes onto the miiverse and when someone answers it, you will get a bottle back floating in the ocean.
Wonder how much spam bottles one will get? lol
-
There'll be tingle bottles all over the beaches. You won't be able to see the sand
-
So I set up my Zelda Wii U this morning…
...and first thing I did was just put in Xenoblade and play that for an hour
-

Yup…I don't even have a 3DS yet but I already know I'm going to buy the games like they're Snickers bars
-
Good point on Kid Icarus.
God dammit, so many good games are already out, it's INSANE.
EDIT: AND it's backward compatible with DS library.
Double god dam.
-
Noqanky, is Kid Icarus that awesome? I'm thinking about getting another 3DS game, before Pokemon Y eats up my time come October 12th. :P
-
Outside of the land battles with their somewhat dicey controls and the Ivan Dragov difficulty settings it's an okay game.

I lhonestly didn't ever have a big control issue, but I used the stand that came with. I loved the game. And the difficulty was awesome. You could make it very easy, or incredibly hard. You weren't meant to have an easy time on the higher difficulty settings, and the top setting was supposed to be something only a true master could beat

Yup, but I'm extremely biased. It's my all-time favorite game. I loved it to hell and back. To me it does everything right, from sheer amounts of content, to fantastic humor, to a story that was more than double the length I expected. Oh god, and the music. And some of the moments keep the 3D on because they're truly beautiful.
The biggest obstacle it had was the controls, since some people hated them and failed to ever adjust. I never had trouble with them, even being left-handed, but eh, who knows, maybe I just have fantastically adaptable fingers. I also feel like a lot of people particularly critics, tried it a couple times, never got used to the controls, and just wound up referring to them as broken. But really, when you master the controls (especially by playing multiplayer) it's hard to imagine them being different.

Oh the higher difficulties aren't a problem as much as the make or break mentality behind them, the game dropping the difficulty everytime you die was stupid.
-
I didn't really have problems with the controls, but sometimes when playing without the stand my left wrist hurt quite a bit. So use the stand that comes with it, it's almost a requirement. But other than it's a terrific game, definitely in my top 10. Probably the most beautiful game on the 3DS as well.
-
I agree with kefka. It's a brilliant game with a great story, characters and sense of humour. The only is really impressive as well considering nintendo and sakurais track record in that department

Hmmm…..I dunno now. I also want Fire Emblem and Mario 3D Land too, but I've never even played the original Kid Icarus before. Decisions, decisions.
-
they're not very similar. You could get 3d classics kid icarus on the eshop (or even the game boy one)

Oh, I know the difference between the two, I'm just saying I haven't played the original. Always like to start a series from its first game (maybe I WILL buy it off eShop).
(also I'm gonna enter your friend code later, cool?)

In that case you probably don't need to play the game boy one seeing as how it's flat out ignored in uprising (probably due to it not being localized in japan at it's initial release)
(and yes, that is cool )

Oh really now? Hm. So I guess Brawl and Sakurai rebirthed the Kid Icarus series then?
-
Pretty much. Which is why i hope the same thing happens with takamaru seeing how his game is actually really fun. I can only assume it wasn't released over here because of its japanese themes

Most likely getting a Wii U today and will be downloading Earthbound as well. I do have a question though, if anyone can answer.
So I plan on transferring my Wii data to the Wii U, but currently my Wii is at another house and I won't be picking it up for about a week. Does the transfer have to be done right away, or can I go ahead and set up the Wii U and play around with it and still transfer the data without having to overwrite anything? I assume you can, I'm just not sure.
Also, feel free to make some recommendations. Thinking about getting Pikmin 3 (haven't played the first 2 though), Rayman Legends, and Wind Waker HD down the road eventually.
-
Question:
I have two 3DSes but no wifi in my apartment, is there a way to generate wifi for them? I seem to recall a special USB stick thing but can't find it
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oh, it seems they've discontinued the thing altogether. Shame
Is there a way to link the 3DS directly to the computer's internet?

You could tether your Mobile Phone, to make it a WIFI hotspot.
I'm using the Foxfi app. Maybe something like that exists for the PC.
It isn't recommend for online gaming, the speed is really slow. -

If you have wireless internet along with knowing the password to your device (router)…yes.

Just beat Windwaker HD. Man, I really do love the ending of Windwaker. Seeing it again reminded me of how great it is

I think you shouldn't have any problem doing it at a later date. Although you may end up in the position you need to make a Mii again for the Wii U without one having been transferred from the Wii (if that makes sense).
As for games, Pikmin 3 is just a must :p

You're making me so jealous.
I bought the TWW HD Wii U bundle for collecting purposes, and it's so tempting to open(since I don't have a Wii U already).
On the bright side, I got Dream Team which is quite fun. But not nearly as good as PIT. That game…ahhhhhhhh...
-
Wow, Aaron is fast. I'm still only past the second dungeon in Wind Waker, and enjoying every bit of it even though at the beginning Hero Mode just means I got killed extremely often. At least now I have two bottles and can get potions.
I also lose a lot of time just staring at everything. The HD in the game really makes it quite pretty. Not Pikmin 3 beautiful, but still, pretty. My goal right now is to be able to finish it before Pokemon comes out. I think I should be on track to do so.

Uh, doesn't the bundle come with a Wii U?

It does. But I'm saying I want to keep it boxed for the sake of collecting.

Partners in Time? That DS game? Was that all that good? O.O It forever lives in the deepest darkness of Superstar Saga's shadow in my memory . . .

I liked Partners in Time, but Bowser's Inside Story kicks its ass.
Then again, there was always something….special about Superstar Saga. The quirky moments, the fact that gasp we saw another kingdom besides the Mushroom, the final battle against a demonized spirit inside of a turtle while rock music plays….

I enjoyed collecting beans too! And making coffee! Maybe that was just me though :p
I've still yet to play Bowser's Inside Story though :(
-

That was great too! Although one kind (the yellow?) was a PAIN to get. But it was still pretty cool how they affected the stats.
I've still yet to play Bowser's Inside Story though :(
WHAT?! But you get to beat up bad guys as King Koopa himself! Doesn't get any better than that!
-

Beans are back in Dream. Same stat boosting schtick and all.
And BIS was great. You should give it a try.
-
i still feel like the odd one out for thinking BIS was the worst M&L game of them all. It's still a great game but it was two short and easy. It's only appeal is you get to play as the amazing king koopa himself
-

You can do the same thing in SMRPG & Super Paper Mario…just you know putting that out there.

Oh, I was really hyped for that game before it came out :p But for reasons I don't remember I couldn't get it … and just didn't >_> I still hope to get it sometime~ Probably before Dream Team Bros because I feel the compulsion to play them in order ahahaha.

When I saw the WW HD videos on youtube, I eventually started to get pretty tired of the vaseline lense, or in other words, that weird fogginess. But when I was playing around with my Wii U, I decided to watch the trailer on the tv and… Wow. I didn't really notice any of the "fog", and it just looked flat out beautiful. Just seeing it in HD on the tv was amazing to me, and I hardly ever make a big deal about video quality. I honestly can't wait until I get my copy of WW.
By the way, the Wii U is quite fun. Nintendo Land is pretty good and the community boards are surprisingly more enjoyable than I thought they'd be. Would've done more if I had time, but I need my sleep after a busy day.
-
Well, so now I'm extremely tempted to get the Pokemon X and Y 3DS XL. The only other 3DS XL model I could see myself ever conceivably wanting is the Smash Bros. one if it ever happens, but even then there's no certainty that will happen and there's no certainty what it will look like.
Ugh, I'm awful at saving money

I know what you mean; Once you get one thing, something else you want arrives. A true vicious cycle…
Also for me, I got The Wonderful 101, and I can't wait to dive into it! But I gotta finish Pikmin 3 first(Which I'm getting close to.). :D
@Mr. Zoro: Welcome to the Wii U community, buddy. :)
