So yeah, got Rayman Legends and it does the rayman label justice. It is not only wacky as Origens but beutiful to boot to look at. I could print out screenshots and hang 'em on the wall.
Maybe the prettiest game I've played.

I'm not entirely sure if this is the perfect thread to ask this.
But with the coming release of the 2DS and the vast amount of great 3DS games I can catch up on with that, I need some recommendations on the best on the console/s. I'm already sold on Mario Kart 7 and Fire Emblem Awakening, while Animal Crossing, Ocarina of Time, either of the two Mario platformers, M&L Dream Team and DK Country Returns also interest me (and of course there could be other games I haven't heard of). But they key factor is that, since I'll be playing them on the 2DS, they can't be 3D reliant.
Any suggestions?
Professor Layton, Zelda Link Between Worlds (I'm assuming it'll be great), Luigi's Mansion 2, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Virtue's Last Reward, Kid Icarus, FF Theatrhythm…
If you're at all into RPGs there are a bunch of good ones available now and some coming soon: Tales of the Abyss, Bravely Default, Fantasy Life, Kingdom Hearts 3D, Dragon Quest 7, Etrian Odyssey 4
I dont think I've seen a 3DS game that was ever 3D reliant. Maybe Layton 6 and one or two puzzles in Mario 3D Land kinda needed it.
Oh. Sorry. Mis-read it.
Anyways all of the ones that Stephen said, also Etrian Odyssy and Tales of the Abyss are a lot of fun too if you like JRPGs
Finally got myself a 3DS, tis an XL and pink, and only payed 130 bucks for it, got most Zelda related stuff, and 3D land for it… definitely worth it...

I don't think Nintendo allows you to publish games requiring 3D.

Aside from what's been said, I'd also recommend SMT IV. Although it isn't out yet if you live in Europe, but will be released at some point there I believe
If anyone is interested GameFly is having a sale on Wii U games. Some nice ones for cheap Monster hunter, Lego City, and Batman $20 each. I'd recommend Zombi U and Injustice for $18.
I don't see monster hunter in there you dirty liar
Here's the official boxart for Super Mario 3D World:
Nintendo's rocking it with the boxarts, looks great! :)
Was there when the link was posted on gamefaqs, I'm guessing some of the games sold out Lego City Undercover is gone too. Nice variety if your thinking of getting a Wii U for the holidays and want some cheap stocking stuffers but I'm sure more sales will pop up as we get closer to Thanksgiving and Black Friday. Beautiful boxart, I wasn't down with the blue and yellow Wii U logo but nintendo knows how to rock it.

Why does that chart say the 3DS XL doesn't come with a power adapter? It sure as hell does.

Maybe they are thinking of the stand, cause it doesn't come with a charging stand.

Oh okay… is that even useful? I don't get why you would want to charge your handheld console in some special dock.

It's faster to just leave it on that thing that to look for the plug and put it in. It's just a few seconds for practicity, but when I had a place special for the DS I'd rather use the dock.

You don't think it would until you no longer have one.
The 3DS came with one and I used it all the time. I go into my room and take my 3DS out of my pocket and just place it on the stand. Easy as heck
The 3DS Xl did not come with one. Now when I come into my room I have to bend over and grab the cord, slide my hand along the length to find the end and then put the small plug in into the back of the 3DS XL. I'll probably end up buying the XL charger for $15 online.
Wait, the 3DS came with a charging stand? I cannot for the life of me remember where that thing is or what it even looks like.
I can't remember where I put mine, either. I use to use it all the time before I started walking everywhere. I honestly forgot about it, haha.
I just use the stand that came with Kid Icarus. Put the XL on that and then plug it in.
i don't know what i did with the dock either. I moved and put it in a box but forgotten which one

How do gaming sites still not get that Nintendo games have Legs?
All they look at eve is first week sales, cause the COD, Halo, GTA, ect get like 10 million in a week. Sure they then get 1 million the rest of thier lifetime. Meanwhile Nintendo games get 500,000k week one and get 20 million lifetime.
Now Pikman is obviously not going to pull Mario numbers or anything. But I'm sure it will climb its way to a million at least
Pikmin 3 sold pretty well considering the wii u's total sales to be honest
Also, pretty sure Gamespot hates Nintendo

Cause their articles are written by armchair analysts not any kind of specialists.
That said you know that the Wii U install base is far off from approaching 20 million.
So there is that.
Apparently Pikmin was 10th overall in sales for the month.
So if that's bad sales then what does it tell you about the month overall?
I think Nintendo said that Fire Emblem on Wii U would need 750,000 sales for it to become profitable. Which kinda puts things into perspective of what they need to sell. Pikmin is just over quarter of a million sold worldwide. And will likely keep selling for the next year or so. Yeah I don't see why this one won't turn a profit in the end.

So does ign. Being a Nintendo fan, currently it feels like they spit on someone's grave considering the amount of hate or general pessimism that is aimed their way, particularly from major gaming news sites.

which is why i stopped going to their sites anymore.
Just checkout how high they rated gave the recent Nintendo titles..
It's probably your own bias that makes you think that way.
The Vita is also getting alot of hate, and so was the PS3 at launch (and with good reason)
Same goes for the Xbox One prior to the dramatic changes.
The 3ds is on the other hand is showered with praise.
It's only the WII U that gets the hate (and for now, i'd say it's justified)
Once the WII U get more great games, the hate will decrease and we'll get another new scapegoat.

If you're talking about IGN I'd agree to a large degree. If you're talking about Gamespot I'd disagree a lot more
IGN & Gamespot are both garbage sites anyway.
Still remember when Gamespot fired Jeff Gerstmann for giving a bad review to a game that was being ad-skinned on their site at the time

Wow never realized Gamespot was quite that awful.

But then when you consider how high they rate everything else it's more of a matter of them just being the sort to rate everything extremely highly. It's like every big title has to have more than an 8.0 (an 8.0 being perceived average), and if it doesn't then people will bitch about the score being too low.
How a gaming site reviews a game doesn't mean they are hateful or not. Just look at the articles quantity to tell what they are biased for or against.
There will be like 100 xbox/ps article to each 1 nintendo one. THat includes 3DS. Every review of multiplat games are done on other consoles, and then at best you get half a paragraph saying something about the nintendo version.
I go to Nintendo sites most days and its amazing what kind of things I can see there that are not at the "mainstream gaming" sites. Gaming sites not dedicated to NItnendo have been hating on and hoping nintendo becomes third party for like 15 years.

I genuinely don't get the hate for the Vita. At all.

Mmh, so I always hear hate for this hate for that. But isn't it more like skepticism?
Which is pretty well earned for the Wii u and the vita.
I love my Vita and there certainly things to be skeptic about.
I think what is most worrisome about Nintendo right now is they're behind the times on several fronts.
Region locking aside, the most glaring one in my opinion is the lack of a unified account system, this is stuff that was a given in 2008.
The fact that they didn't think of planning for that stuff in (when did wii u/3ds development start? 2009/2010?) is definitely worthy of skepticism.

Nuts, I should've waited to download Seasons.
Then again…..I'm not sure if I want Link Between Worlds.

They've already made it clear several times they're working towards that, and the Wii U definitely took a step forward in developing the Nintendo network.

That's not the point though? The point is given that it's 2013 it shouldn't be an issue at all? It paints this picture of Nintendo being inept when it comes to going with the times. It's one thing to buck all trends when you understand each of them it's another not touching any of them because you don't.
And things like this extend beyond just the account system. To my understanding their online multiplayer infrastructure is similarly behind.
That's the valid criticism in there. It's like if PS4/X1 were to launch without wireless controllers or any form of digital distribution this year. People would scratch their heads to say the least. Them saying then they're working towards it wouldn't change that fact.
This is not a case like with the 360 hedging their bets on broadband and then with Sony having to play catchup. This very much feels like Nintendo didn't notice what happened during their time when the Wii was a colossal success.
And pls don't mistake this as "Nintendo lol doomed", but I definitely think it would be healthy for them if they were more in touch with certain trends(which doesn't mean they have to go with them) in this industry.

The xbox one I believe is shipping with a controller that isn't recharchable. It needs batteries, just like the 360 controller.
Should I get a 2DS, a 3DS, or a 3DS XL?
Should I get a 2DS, a 3DS, or a 3DS XL?
Depends on your budget, really. The 3DS XL is the best version and appropriately the most expensive. The 2DS is a cheap version for those who MUST have something to play Pokemon on next month. The regular 3DS is smack dab between the middle of the two; all the standard functions but without the nifty hardware improvements of the XL.
Should I get a 2DS, a 3DS, or a 3DS XL?
Pretty much what Kaboom said, but as an added note: How important is portability to you since 2ds can't be closed and is thus less portable? Do you care about the packaged sd card for downloading stuff, since 2ds and 3ds xl have 4 GB cards, where as normal 3d only has a 2 gb card? Also, normal 3ds has the worst battery life by a small bit. Here's a comparison chart
so a nintendo direct today came out of nowhere and revealed wii fit u is having a month free trial of the full game from nov 1st and that wii sports is being re-released under a pay-to-play type scheme on the e-shop, starting with tennis and bowling and will have online multiplayer, vs and a club system
Wii Sports Club sounds pretty damn good.
Online matches with the option to only get tennis and bowling, I like it!
Personally I'm loving the Wii Fit U deal, where you just buy the meter thingy and register that and you get to keep the digital copy from the free trial.
Also the fact both Wii Fit U and Wii Sports Club will be following that community set up where, in the case of Wii Fit U, you get to have a community with just friends and compete with them. Or in the case of Wii Sports Club, you get to see your ranking relative to people in your state or region.
Hiroshi Yamauchi passed away this morning. :(
End of an era.
