Human torch is OP, especially when he was in the negative zone and afterwards…and of course Scarlet Witch. I wonder how much avenger movies will there be.

Looks like they plan at least a going to 3. As well as thor 3 and cap america 3.
Cool thing. To make sure rumors of him going to comicon didn't get out, it seems tom Hiddleston went on the plane in a jango fett costume.
-
I get the feeling there will be more than 3 Avengers films. I think once the first three are released that there will be a little break from them, but I see them being a near-constant thing.
-
@Capt:
I blame this video. When it became popular he went from water themed superhero to the guy who can talk to fish.
Nah. Aquaman hate precedes Cartoon Network commercials.
-
Did you know in Kingdom Come Aquaman more or less told Superman and Wonder Woman to go fuck themselves and they just took that
-
Like, the man deals with shit in the ocean on a daily basis.

I'll take a fight with the Joker any day over that.

Just got back from The Wolverine. It was great.
Be sure to stay for the post-credits scene.

Be sure to stay for the post-credits scene.
Isn't that kind of a given now with Marvel movies?
-
I didn't know it was an 'X-men' movies thing as much as it was a 'Marvel Cinematic-Universe' thing.
-
Wow I didn't even know that was out.
-

Better than Origins?
-
Aquaman is awesome. He's King Arthur with psychic powers and super strength that rules 2/3 of the planet!
He was just SO badly used in Superfriends (which is probably a large part of the reason he's one of the main guys to begin with) that the joke of him being useless has carried for DECADES.
(Also, i assume his shiny gold fishscale armor looks different underwater)
-
I always thought it was personally weird for my generation since I grew up on 'My kid needs my help, so I'm going to chop my hand off to save him!' Aquaman.
-
@Thousand:
Better than Origins?
They couldn't possibly do worse
-
I didn't know it was an 'X-men' movies thing as much as it was a 'Marvel Cinematic-Universe' thing.
Well, they started doing with X3, so technically Fox did it first.
@Thousand:
Better than Origins?
That's a given. Origins was a miserable pile of shit. But with this one they really delivered the core of what makes Wolverine. All of his fights are as badass as the famous school scene from X2. Logan's really allowed to cut loose in this one. And Yukio is absolutely one of the best female co-stars yet. She's badass and a lot of fun.
The final act of the movie is a bit silly (giant robot from the trailers), but it isn't nearly as bad as the reviews make it out to be.
-
When exactly did silly become a no no in movies about superpowered dudes in their underoos
-
Well, it was tonally a bit off with the rest of the movie. But the reviews are punishing it way too hard for that. I feel a lot of reviews are punishing it for not being action extravaganzas like the Avengers movies, because there's no way this movie is worse than Thor or Captain America.
-
Saw Wolverine tonight. It was good and enjoyable. My only complaint would be:
! How they handle the Silver Samurai. I think they could have stayed truer to the comics in this regard.
But the post-credit scene alone makes up for any minor flaws in the last act and is worth the price of admission IMO. -
The reviewer for the local paper said it was alright (better than Origins at least), but said that character motivations were bit all over the place and he criticized that they never show what happens when Wolverine hits someone with his claws to keep the PG-13 rating. I think I'll need some more coaxing before I see it.
Wolverine, though, has been a favourite character of mine for a long time. I can see Jackman as Wolverine but so far his movie adaptations have been … lackluster? besides the first X-Men Singer movie. After the travesty that was Origins I felt they have lost the plot with the character.
-
Just because you can't see the blood spatters doesn't mean it's filmed and shot in such a way you miss the pain. Believe me, it's done very well.
-
Movie was solid but the Silver Samurai not cool bruh not cool at all.
That post credit though…... -
@wolfwoof:
Really? Who are they arching then?
Damn hatewagon's running full steam if this went unanswered for so long. Stating the obvious aside. Kraven is established as having tie's to White Tiger and her father. Whereas Scorpion is a K'un-L'un native and is a rival to Iron Fist I guess it's a step up from the original ultimate comics interpretations of the characters. Where Kraven was a reality TV star with no unique abilities or powers who jobbed rather easily and Scorpion was a mentally unstable version of Peter created by Doctor Octopus. @The:
Welp… Robo Jarvis going rogue and becoming Ultron is going to happen, since the Marvel cinematic universe just wants to suck the iron balls of Iron Man. Better brace yourselves for it now.
I honestly don't see that happening particularly given how omnipresent robo Jarvis is, kind of like Ultimate Nick Fury.
-

Great, that means the stakes are already there.

So did they keep him as a mutant that's wearing traditional-style samurai armor or did they make him some sort guy in 'iron man type" of armor, a robot or a cyborg as some were fearing before the release?
-

Sigh
! iron man type.

Well… (and this is a big spoiler)
! Harada, who is the Silver Samurai in the comics, is actually not the Silver Samurai at all in this movie. Harada is still in the movie, but the Silver Samurai is something different. (I'm still being sightly vague here to not give away part of the story.)
-
There's also a different guy in Silver Samurai armour though.
-

Well that's what I was trying to be vague about.
-
.< Thank you all for answering. [hide] I guess I'm too old fashioned, That isn't Silver samurai then, its a totally new character! Harada is the only one I can see as Silver Samurai … and he doesn't need some tech-armor akin to Ironman! It's too much like saying Logan isn't Wolverine or never had the unbreakable metal covered skeleton & claws.
When I think of the Silver Samurai I think of him looking like this Badass whow does nto need to hear some tech armor, the old fashioned type works fine! =
[/hide] -
There's different Silver Samurai in the comics as well.
-
I grew up in the 80s, and Harada is the true Samurai. From what I understand in one storyline where it seems Logan is in hell, Harada was killed and his soul supposedly destroyed, so it leaves the spot for another person to take up the title of Silver Samurai. That is just a wanna-be replacement, not the original.
To me Harada is the true and only Silver Samurai. It would be like if some writer killed off Logan then brought in some unknown person - student, fan, or son - to take up the name Wolverine. …its not the same
-
^ Which is funny cause that's exactly what happened after Wolverine was killed in "Ultimatium".
-
Saw the movie. Thought it was quite entertaining. One thing I found interesting was how much unsubbed Japanese there was. It wasn't too important but things having to do with the story and current happenings were being said. There was also a mis-translation at one part. "He hasn't done anything to you" was subbed as "he saved my life." I mean they sort of have the same effect but come on guys, pick one or the other…
Also some not-so-subtle Torii gate imagery there.
-
Cute PSA, but I'm still not sure if I'm sold on the Sentinel design. Looks too sleek and shiny.
-
At least the Sentinels still look like robots, (though they aren't the giant 50 ft , purple painted accents monstrosities I grew up ) I feared they would do one of those … oh what were they called ?omega Sentinels?...where they were more cyborg than robot.
Already said earlier in thread how I thought the robot look was more menacing looking to me due to the 70/80s theme of 'monster in the machine has no hint of humanity' and so seen as a bigger threat than the cyborg who was often shown to still have human elements despite the loss of flesh is replaced by machine.
-
I like the design, they look like they'll move around more swiftly with the sleeker look.
And finally the definitive proof that the GOP is RACIST:

Thanks for the pics! … while they don't look the 50 ft, they do look like they can easily be 20 ft tall. So I'm happy with how they look
-
These Sentinels actually look creepy; not gonna lie.
-
The Trask Industries site says they're 18 ft tall. Also some other easter eggs like its abilities to fire energy lasers from its arms and its max speed. But it also says that in 2020 (assumedly the future timeline) there's a new model about to be released.

The face of evil…
That's a great picture.

Here's the Trask Industries website
-
Well here's a new poster for Thor: DW.
It seems similar to the Tony and Pepper Iron Man 3 poster.
-
Okay, honestly, based on the trailer and the preview pics, I find it kind of goofy that all the bystanders are so cheerful around these robots that look like Satan.

They protect them from mutie scum.
-
^ is right. "Normal humans" were suppose to be protected by the Sentinels from the "mutant threat". So many people, esp those who hated or simply fear, mutants were happy with the presence of the giant machines. …and then there is the subject of propaganda posters made by Trask Industries
However to mutants, the Sentinels were the embodiment of fear. After all they were machines programed to hunt them down, often to kill, machines can not be argued with (least in the old days, recent storylines have trumped that) can not be reasoned with unlike living enemies.
-
Tanks and grenades are meant to defend us. That doesn't necessarily mean we want to be anywhere near one.
And again, they look like Satan.
I'm just saying, from an aesthetic standpoint, it couldn't be more obvious that they're evil and will more than likely turn against their human masters.
-
Ah but you're looking at as they were meant to be seen by the readers/viewers (machines meant to 'help' humanity a_re actually a threat_), not from the non-powered human in the storyline (they really are there to help 'normal' humans).
Yes some humans did fear them, some simply didn't like them, and some were really suspicious of them; but the anti-mutant hysteria was so strong that the fear of the machine was much less. Considering -least in the earlier days of comics (meaning when DoFP storyline came out)- the Sentinels never attacked "normal" humans, only mutants, meant the general population was willing to accept them. (of course that changed later dates s they attacked the mutnats in populated areas and there humans nearby, but that was considered "friendly fire casualites' and not actual attack on normal humans)
But the 'happy humans standing with the Sentinels' … I stand by my last comment - Trask Industries could have made propaganda (posters to commercials, ect) to promote them.
As for how they look, yeah Movie made them more meanacing than what they originally looked like in the comics=
