I liked the Shimon arc - rainbow arc vs colonello, then it got retareded. He didnt grow balls, didnt choose a girl, didnt become Vongola ( what was the point of the future arc?), he's shit without dying will/ Reborn, theres no epilogue for anyone, and the onle development were the first 2 and a half arcs. This shows how bad a manga can become
Katekyo Hitman REBORN! Discussion

Bit off-topic but watched the first two episodes of Psycho-Pass aka The Haru and Hibari Show (Amano did the original character designs), pretty good.
-
I haven't posted in here about my reactions to the ending but basically:
I'm still laughing.
And I don't think I'll ever stop.

Really? For me it was so bad I couldn't even find it in me to laugh or be mad. Nothing changes, the entire series is pointless fluff now, why should I even recognize this series exists?
Actually since apparently the reformed villains are implied to be Tsuna's friends too, I do think Amano seriously trying to pass Mukuro, Hibari, and Xanxus (among others I'm sure) off as Tsuna's friends is pretty funny.

They're friends in the same way that Ichigo is friends with Kenpachi and Maiyuri. Real best buds…

If your looking to fill the void Reborn destroyed, watch sword arts online anime. It definitely helped me fill better

I can't tell if this is a joke, or what.
I mean, sure, mediocre shonen trash will fill a void left by a lack of mediocre shonen trash, but why would you want that void filled?
-
I am going to say it's a joke. Who can seriously consider Sword Arts Online anime to actually be decent?
Serious answer: go with Soul Eater for decent shounen. -

Serious answer: go with Soul Eater for decent shounen.Too bad Soul Eater and Soul Eater Not! are monthly.
-
I had forgotten about Soul Eater Not, but I didn't like it for some reason. Maybe it gets better after marathoning chapters. As for Sword Art, I don't trust a series if all the fans have to say about it is that it is "awesome". It was in fact shit. Objectively I say it was shit, but that's obvious, and someone else's opinion isn't going to change my personal tastes lol.
-
You could try Blue Exorcist. My friend swears by it, but I could never get into it.
-
The manga felt generic. Exorcists, I've got DGM. But I promised my friend I would give the anime a go. I have a lot of writing to catch up on first though. Might give it a try on my mega Budokai HD weekend from Thursday when I get the game.
-
There's a Seinen Mafia manga called Gangsta, but I think it's Monthly. Don't see the releases very often, but what I've read of it, it was pretty good.
-
It's a seinen eh? Sounds good, I prefer shounen but my average score of seinen is higher. Most of my legendary god tier of manga is shounen, but my list on average also includes things like Bleach and Fairy Tail, whereas with the dubious exception of Gantz, my seinen so far has been the likes of Berserk, Battle Royale, Jackals, Green Blood and Vinland Saga. So in short an almost impeccable list.
-
if you haven't read Akame ga Kiru or Drifters, read them both.
Also recommend Kongo Banchou for fun shonen, and Yandere Kanojo for fun 4-koma.also if you want something that's about actual mafioso, Sun Ken Rock fits the bill. Just be warned it's horribly misogynistic, but the art and fights are amazing.
-
I tried sun ken for a while then I read something about it being Mahnwa so I was bleh.
-
So how wasSqualo not dead? What about Xansus's arm and legs?
-
@Money:

Because Tsuna has friends now <3
Yeah that ending was terrible…

Those mangled bodies were illusions apparently. Or rather…had body parts swapped at the last second like how Chrome had fake organs for a while.

The whole illusionary organs making Chrome somehow survive never made any sense. And with Squalo and Xanxus, wouldn't they have bled out even if anything vital was replaced? Or were the pools of blood they were left mangled in illusions too :getlost:

I think they were on the verge of dying, but then got a organ swap to survive. So I think the blood was real?
I mean….I could go back and check out the chapter where they state what happens...But I really would prefer to not be so productive for a manga with such a shitty ending lol.

The blood wasn't an illusion. Just being snarky about pointing out that organ swap or not, the blood loss from laying in the dirt with all 4 limbs severed or a hand-sized hole in your torso ought to have killed Squalo and Xanxus anyway (also poking fun at how often "lol illusions" is used to explain complete bs in bad manga these days). Particularly Xanxus. Though I suppose it's common for manga to ignore that blood loss is a bad thing, so expecting anything different from this series would be way too much.

They never told what was the name of Kaoru's earth flame. This sucks.

Probably the "Crap, I ran out of environments to name earth flames after" flame. Good catch though. Lame/troll move on Amano's part I guess, but with how lame the Simon arc was idk that I would have wanted him to get the screentime needed to find out.
Serious guesses off the top of my head: Plains or Cave Flame. About all that was left that was different enough.
-
I like the simon arc IMO
-
Never read this manga but might check it out now that its over…
With this ended you gotta wonder how Bleach is still going..

It's probably still allowed to finish this last arc because it's supposed to be the end. And it gained Jump a lot of money so it's got enough good will to not just be dropped with no conclusion.
-
Reborn gave SJ alot of profit n was popular, but i feel that it never had a legit ending
-
Just finished the manga, even though I'd caught up to it a while ago.
Honestly…I kinda liked the ending. I like how they started going back to the comedy roots of the series. Tsuna gaining friends was a great ending. It could have been better...much better, but it was pretty good. -

It could have been better...much better, but it was pretty good. That wasn't the problem. The problem was that aside from Tsuna having friends… NOTHING WAS ACHIEVED. Tsuna didn't change (he always reset at the end of arcs), or become a mafia boss.
Since that was the whole point of the series... that's just annoying. It's like ordering a chicken sandwich and getting fish sandwich, but the waiter tells you its okay because there's lettuce and tomato on it. Where's my chicken sandwich?
-

It's more like, you go to a restaurant and order a chicken sandwich. And then you wait forever, and eat the complimentary breadsticks and listen to some good music, but then they change the radio station and the whole atmosphere starts to suck. And the breadsticks run out. and you're waiting forever. And then in the end, they just tell you they don't have any chicken sandwiches, and you get to leave.
So in the end, it was like you never went. You didn't get a sandwich, but you didn't have to pay any money either. And any positive memories of breadsticks are wiped out by that horrendous wait and the retarded nature of the whole thing.
Anyone who's thinking about reading it - don't. Just, don't. Or read until the end of the varia arc, then read the last chapter.
-

Lol. Its like dying for your 100 virgins but they turn out to be guys. It just defeats the goal
-
Tsuna never wanted to be the mafia boss though. Was his will really that weak? If it was then he wouldn't have said no in the end. Surely Reborn wouldn't want someone who was too weak to reject all those including Reborn who had cajoled and bullied Tsuna into becoming the boss, by either acting as if he was the boss already (the good guys) or recognising him as a candidate by trying to kill him and therefore becoming the boss themselves (the bad guys). In his final denial of the role he chose not to be the boss, but then who the fuck actually became the boss? lol
-
Uh-oh.
!
-
It's just a poster, calm down.
-
Yeah, but if that's legit that means that the next series is going to be in the far future… it says Vongola 15th, so that would be 5 more generations... at least 100 years later. Hmm.
Speaking of Amano, was it ever confirmed that she indeed is Kubo's new wife? Or was that just a ridiculous hoax?
-
Oh no, no, no.
Now I have to read it just to get closure damn it.
-
@Fire Fist:

The thought of Amano being Kubo's wife probably came from that one old TOC comment from a couple years back where Kubo said he had a good time eating lunch with Amano.
It's just a poster, calm down.
I know, but she could just draw Tsuna and co if it was going to be just a simple poster.
-
Is the anime for this good?
-
I just finished this series. It was a pretty good ride. I wish it didn't consist of so many "tournament" or "competition" arcs though… Seems like with the concept of Mafia at it's back it could have done a lot of things very differently.
I also noticed that a lot of characters got the "Krillin and Tien" treatment where they were prominent early on and then stopped being important or useful as time passed. -
@Monkey:
Is the anime for this good?
it's heavily edited, but it has good moments, it has some GREAT OPs though.
-
To be sincere I think it's shit. The characters are stupid and the whole power rings whateva is stupid. Wtf was the purpose of these little pokemon like animals? The whole series started not bad but as soon as it turned in a powerup tournaments battle manga it became shit. imho
-
Was wondering why this topic was alive.
-

I have to disagree on some parts
I thought the first arc, the daily life arc, sucked really bad (like one of the worst)I thought the Mukuro arc was ok, and I thought the Varia arc was the best arc of the series, and then everything else went down hill fast
-
did that vongola 15th poster ever go anywhere?
it was tolerable up til the future arc and the arcobaleno curse arc all inbetween wasn't that good…maybe worse.
-
Just reread this series for some reason lol
does anyone else think Yamamoto Takeshi's Vongola box cambio form (the four sword style) was way cooler, and seemed waaaay more powerful/effective than his vongola gear upgrade (the two sword style)? Like I'm not sure how in any reality that's an upgrade, much more of a downgrade
-

It doesn't help that Amano just decided to nerf everyone else except the babies on the next and final arc.
-
Loving Yamamoto was so frustrating. Looks cool and pwerful but alwas ends up coming short. he's kind of a Sanji.
I don't know if it's stronger but 4 swordsis certainly more impressive and captivating.
-

Consequence of writing the future arc basically like a final arc and then deciding to add two more arcs with stakes on top.
