Just out of curiosity, why do a lot of you guys dislike Coby? While admittedly, kind of annoying, I think he's a well written character who's shown some good growth.
I certainly don't hate Coby, I like his character.
That however has nothing to do with wanting him to eat the Mera Mera no Mi, since I feel it would be shitting on Ace's character if he or any other marine ate the fruit
Im pretty sure SH's will keep the Mera mera no Mi. Would be awesome if in the end of story, some follower of Luffy (next pirate king) will get the fruit. This still doesnt explain why Oda put fruit to the story right now, so it really seems like someone will eat the it. I guess it will be enemy, so i say Coby ::)

Luffy is a DF user but can still fight underwater. And unless they encounter another strong and evil fishman, I doubt we'll have any more "water fights".

I'm guessing Luffy will probably give a speech about how a person is defined by their actions/values, not a super power. People are putting the fruit ahead of the individual. Luffy loved his brother, not his ability to wield fire. At best, they might keep it on their ship as a sort of memorial.
It's hard to gauge how Luffy will react - he might get super pissed and play right into Doflamingo's hands, thereby throwing Law's plan into chaos. That would make the fruit a MacGuffin and nothing more.
Not sure where this Coby thing is coming from … how will a fruit in the possession of a Warlord/King of Dressrosa get into the hands of a Marine Captain?
The absolute last thing that would happen is a Straw Hat eating the fruit, and that includes Jinbe.
I feel like I'm missing something - why do people think Luffy might eat it? Hasn't it already been clearly established that an individual cannot possess 2 abilities at one time? Blackbeard is the exception, as confirmed by Marco when he commented on his weird body. Red Hawk is, at this stage, the extent of Luffy carrying the spirit of Ace's ability within him.

sanji was introduced working on a floating restaurant….his backstory is him working on a ship, being saved at the sea and suriviving in the middle of the sea, his dream is to find a certain sea, he loves mermaids, he is the fastest swimmer of the crew, he can breathe underwater the longest in the crew.....

The reason why none of the SHs will eat it is simple: They just came back from 2 years training in their specific fighting style while they did not really show anything they got. Now to change their fighting style would be incredibly stupid, not to mention that eating the fruit would not fit the personality of any of the SHs.

Given past information about how Luffy handles things in general, in my mind, Luffy wouldn't care about the fruit and he'll say Ace was the one he cared about and not the fruit… Or something like that.
