This modern trend of justifiable villainy. Oh wait that's just Naruto and Bleach in examples I can think of or get truly inferno about. My point is rendered invalid. However villains like this, the hero WILL beat you and I look forward to every second of your smug cockface to be ripped off.

Characters talking in the third person because they think it is somehow cute. No it's a sign of insanity.

The rule of cool/beautiful/ badass snark. This only properly works if implemented properly. Posers are trendslave fucktards. By poser i don't mean awesome pose characters like the Ginyu Force, who are glorious gay technicolour and/ or wonderful parodies of sentai. I refer to these characters who just stand and make snarky comments and act like complete arseholes or just sit looking pretty or "cool". There's nothing cool about someone who is just a nasty fuck, cool are those who inspire and encourage others, such as Kamina in Gurren.

Abusive and terrible relationships that are treated like great ones. I don't have a problem with terrible relationships involving sexual harassment, rape, stalking, in fiction, but I hate when it's treated like something good or not a big deal because TRUE LOVE or something stupid like that.

Also fetish things in general, like incest (especially little sister ones oh my god). Topics like that are fine in fiction in general (even if I'm not a fan) but when it's obvious that it's just there as a masturbatory aid, then yuck. Ugh.

It's really annoying and sometimes revolting when there is a really tense situation happening and the character has to speak in all his coolness gibberish that kind of sounds like the language (uncanny valley of languages).

I think the opposite holds also true but haven't seen any movies since I started learning japanese where the characters speak japanese.
Seriously the last movie I remember was the last samurai, also probably not really comparable since different production standarts.

Well, nothing compared to shounen manga level obviously.
It was a talk of the town last year in manga magazines, and doing fairly well for a Spirits-seinen manga.
It got attention because various magazines picked it up for review due to its uniqueness.
Sorta like the quirky "Ore-Monogatari (Story of ME)" shoujo manga took the attention this year for its breaking-the-shoujo boundaries. (which I hope it gets animated sometime in next few years… love story about an honest, decent man who looks gorilla-ugly. Yeah, oddball for shoujo, but dude's awesome.)

As for the catch, well, she looks like she's having oral sex with the food and having orgasm by eating it. Nuff said.

Hehe that was painful, kudos to iwata though his english is definitely way better than reggie's japanese. I have a lot of respect for iwata always choosing to speak at events like the gdc in english.

I grew up in N.Texas and one thing I really found annoying was teh streotyped "everyone in Texas is/dresses like a cowboy". I loved Chuck Norris in "Walker; Texas Ranger" but had at least one eyetick every issue when they showed a lot of people in Dallas-Ft.Worth metroplex wearing cowboy hats. I grew up right outside teh metroplex, in teh subburds, and it wasn't that common. Everytime I went through the cities (Dallas or Ft.Worth), there might be a few people wearing them ...like one or two... but you didnt' see half the population wearing them unless you were at the Stockyards.

Now I know that there is a mecha that looks like a cowboy sterotype, I know to avoid it and never even bother with it >.<

Getter Robo is awesome.I mean,I didn't like that particular instalment quite as much due to the relative lack of maniacal insanity…and the relative lack of Ryoma(which undoubtedly contributed to the relativelack of maniacal insanity),but Getter Robo is awesome.

HxH at least didn't give an overall advantage to all clan members. It worked well for Kurapika because he was soley focused on revenge, and he had a bunch of restrictions and actual training to use the powers.

Wrath I was slightly bummed with the reveal, but holy crap the stuff after was well worth it lol.

"Brother/Sister complex" - When a character has a flirty/romantically close relationship with their sibling, or is sexually attracted to their sibling.

The first time I saw this, I was disgusted. How could stories aimed at young people promote such a thing? Sometimes an entire manga is devoted to a sibling's attraction to their own family! It's freaking gross!

If Japanese society abhors such a thing, why does this concept keep taking place in various manga?

I noticed that many strict societies have really weird fetishes.The only explanation i have is that people are attracted by things that are seen as taboo where they live.Kind of how people drank much more alcohol during prohibition in the US.

Im artist, so I dont read any mangas with piss poor art. By that I mean facial features and expressions.
There are mangas whose I still read because it still isnt that bad, but it just pisses me off a lot when all characters looks way too smiliar to each other, like "artist" drawing them have 0 creativity. And there are mangas whose I close instantly the moment I see them - ones who features "gorgeous" girls with large puppy eyes with sparks all over. Honestly, Id rather puke than continue reading them instead of closing them asap.

Many of the best manga I've ever read were simple minimalistic artwork, pretty much everything from Hoshisato Mochiru, Fujiko F Fujio, Daiji Moroboshi, etc.

Madoka didn't really suffer from any animation or art problems,really.Her face might be just a teensy bit off-model in that shot(since I'm sure that's what you are talking about),but the only real visual gripe I have with that show are the character designs.

I still have trouble accepting those "adults" as "adults".

Oh, I agree on the character designs, adults looking like they're 10 - or the other way around - is something that I'm really sick of.

One of my biggest pet peeves is putting children in life-threatening situations and adults consenting to it.

Examples: Naruto, Hunter x Hunter and Soul Eater.

Now I don't mind this if it's handled delicately and with good reason, but when an author expects us to just blindly accept that, "Yes, children are made to fight for their lives on a regular basis," that just really irks me. And I get that authors sometimes feel they have to have a younger character for the audience to relate, but when you're dealing with high-stakes life-or-death situations, couldn't you at least make them closer to 16 or 17, like Luffy?
