Naruto and Bleach II: I don't have the heart to care anymore.
-
-
I have to admit I like how Madara isn't really playing around anymore. He might end up being an awesome villain after all.
-
So Madara gave his emo bullshit to Obito who gave his emo bullshit to Nagato which caused him to become Pain.
Manga, you're not exactly endearing me to the final antagonists when you're telling me they directly caused the worst thing to ever happen to Naruto other than Sasuke.
-
New thread title. It's appriopriate.
Time for another cycle of "Meta Reviews Bleach and Naruto"!
Bleach: Augh, the spoilers posted were right…...anyway, much like the last chapter (and others), Kubo takes one simple event that normal mangakas would take 5 pages at most and stretches it out to 20! Bach beating up Ichigo made sense, since you know.....the guy cut Yama in half. And finally Ichigo shows emotion at SS being in ruins, but I think it would've better placed in the last chapter.
Bach wants to take Ichigo to his fortress and make him into one of his men? ...Why? Yeah, I guess it's to neutralize one of the greatest threats but to place him on the Vandereich side would make him into a.....Quin.......no. No, it......and Ichigo uses a Quincy technique at the end. FU-
Kubo, I'm begging you. Please don't add Quincy to Ichigo's lineage. pleasepleaseplease. And for crying out loud, what are Orihime, Chad, Nel, and Urahara doing back in Hueco Mundo?!
Other than that the big turn-off were once again, the panels. Super big and devoid of much background. Getsuga Tenshou looks as bad as ever.
Naruto: Obito's flashback ends…...he goes to talk to Konan and Nagato about Madara's "world of peace and love" philosophy....blech. It's not that it's a bad concept, it comes off as contrived and what's more, comes from two madmen. It's just not genunine. And look, Pain originated from Obito's speech!
Thanks for still not telling us how/why Rin died, Kishi. It's not like we needed it, to develop Obito's evil intentions….
Kyuubi is unleashed, blah blah, and....we go back to Naruto, Kakashi, Gai, and Obito in the present day.
groans Just end this manga already, Kishi.
EDIT:
Way to jump to Kubo's level, Kishi[/hide]
-
Naruto and Bleach made me unintentionally laugh this week.
Bleach: Well, Ichigo is part quincy now. Yay!!! lol.
Naruto: I don't care anymore in "The heart" style. lol.
On a positive note the two-page spread at the end of the Naruto chapter looked really nice. -
But you're forgetting the important upgrades! Each power-up has given Ichigo another chance to show off Kubo's designer clothing line! That's more important than what attack he uses, right?
As i said, just like Megaman.
It all makes sense now, the Mega Buster is the Getsuga Tenshou (never changes, just gets more powerful), and he receives the powers of his enemies along with new clothes. -
As i said, just like Megaman.
It all makes sense now, the Mega Buster is the Getsuga Tenshou (never changes, just gets more powerful), and he receives the powers of his enemies along with new clothes.Who's Dr.Wily then?
Also, this Mega Man relies on Mega Buster ALL the time.I mean, with this Blut Vene, how long has it been since Ichigo's used a technique that's not Getsuga Tenshou?
-
Screw it. I'll keep saying it until my internet message bursts from cyberspace, solidifies, flies to Japan, and smacks Kubo across the face.
Uryu is a better person for this situation, NOT Ichigo. It's too early to assume the worst, but Bach clearly stated he wanted to take Ichigo back and make him one of his own. From there we can assume he wants to make an uber-powerful Quincy or something equal, just to destroy the Shinigami more.
But…..I can only assume that it will only be possible if Bach pulls some tricks and gives Ichigo Quincy powers. OR.....we get what's behind curtain number two, and Kubo pulls an Aizen-level troll saying "Ichigo has Quincy blood within!". I mean, how else did he use that technique at the end?
Ishida would be a better fit because he's ALREADY a full-fledged Quincy. Imagine if Bach really thought this out, kidnapped him, and brainwashed him into a Stern Ritter? Then we would see Ichigo vs. Uryu again, which would be backwards....since he developed into being Ichigo's friend, not the other way around.
At least THAT situation feels much less contrived than Kubo sprinkling Quincy traits to Ichigo. I mean, he's a human, part Hollow, part Shinigami, part Shitbring....and now part Quincy?!
Also, why does Bach want to do this? He just took the Bankai of the strongest Shinigami.....couldn't he help the other Stern Ritters finish off the Captains and get this job done?

Ball's in your court, Kubo.
Your review has more words than the actual chapter.
You gave this more thought than the manga ever deserves. -
-
I like to rant and nitpick?
It was a compliment.
I think most of us would utter a simple meh at this rubbish, tbh. -
Why don't we take a Bleach chapter every week, shrink the panels in every page so that they're the size of an averge panel in One Piece, throw away the useless ones (I mean the things that are repeated or just don't work right) and see FOR REAL how long is every Bleach chapter in Oda-level number of pages?
-

I usually go "meh" at Naruto (where I know less), and save my anger/rants for Bleach.
-
If I were Kubo - and god knows how he spends his time - I would make one super chapter, full with non-wasted panels, progression and dialogue.

He stands around in his studio posing and has asistants take pictures of him. All day, every day.
-
Yo guys, since we can pretty much guess that this arc will be converted into an OAV or something afterwards, how many episodes do you think it will have.
I guess about 13 at most,lol.

But that would mean putting quite a lot of work into Bleach. Who would ever want to do that?

…That would be incredibly entertaining.
I want to do that, very badly.
I'll consider it when I'm less busy. Anyone else feel free to jump on this though! -

Last I saw him public he was trolling some dude with a life size zebra statue in his living room.

Ah, so it's not just in his manga he trolls people.
-
Bleach is a better Seinen than Berserk.
I don't care if you're being serious or joking but dude what? I'm gonna find you
PS: I did not read what you quoted

I think this is the que for ichigo's random power up

Wait, this guy's name is seriously "Haschwald"?
That's not an actual word in German as far as I know, but translating literally results in "pot forest" ("pot" as like "cannabis"). What the hell Kubo?
-
Oh,if this Blut Vene is hereditory, then there's another point of stupidity-why didn't it manifest before?

We have Stern Ritters named NaNaNa Najahkoop and As Nodt Now a guy that means "pot". These Quincy names are hiliarous.

Yeah this is what I feel. I guess I keep reading because I keep thinking there's going to be something good coming up later that I'm going to miss.
Basically what I look for in a manga is an interesting story with a philosophical meaning behind it. Let's take Bleach for example. Kubo manages to incorporate various ideas from different belief systems into his manga as well as incorporating things like race and ethinictity in as well. All te while he also delivers interesting scenarios that make you think on the spot e.g. were the Gotei 13 right to blindly follow Central 46, was the Rukongai massacre justified etc?
I heard Berserk did this as well but IMO I don't reallly see anything as interesting as the stuff Bleach in it so far. It just seems to me that Guts comes along he slashes down some enemies, there's some voyeurism and then the arc ends. Next arc is pretty much the same. I finished the Lost Children arc but I don't see what the point of it was. Felt like a filler tbh.
There's too little dialogue as well and IMO the more dialogue the better. It looks like to me that the author is jsut trying to be really abstract with the meaning behind each arc but I really don't see what he's trying to say or what's so philosophical about what he's trying to say.
Honestly am I missing something because I hear a lot of people saying that there's this huge philosophical meaning behind each arc?
I think I'm crying tears of lava, I'm so mad.

Yes Kubo puts plenty of race and ethnicity into his manga. Just ask the Japanese-only Soul Society.
was the Rukongai massacre justified etc?
….....?
@No:
The what ?
The dark-skinned Quincy with the checkered teeth.
-
So what is a blut vene again? A quincy attack, and that's it?
So um… Naruto... "Like hell that will work, I'm the son of the 4th Hokage!" Well, Naruto... remember that time... that time when you wanted to separate yourself from destiny and fate, and build your own fame on your own merit and work? Yeah... Flush it down the toilet. Flush it.
And seriously a wood dragon? Why not continuously have it rain down giant boulders if you have unlimited chakra. "I could take you out with a number of high leveled god tiered techniques, but I'll just use giant wood objects and animate them to fight you. You know, to waste time, and have it lead to my possible demise..."
-
Also maybe it's because I'm immature but did anyone else have this reaction when they got to this line?
-
Bleach: I don't even know anymore..
Naruto: So Tobi visited Rin's grave, got mad an summoned the Kyuubi?
-
@No:
Seriously how would the anime even adapt this if it didn't get canned ? It's like what, three minutes of stuff at most ?
It's not good. I looked into it, and there's about 10 episodes' worth of material from the start of the arc to Yamamoto's revelation of Bankai. Beyond that, I didn't check, but I can't imagine it being longer than three. So 33 Bleach chapters don't even have fifteen episodes of content.
-
Eh, I don't see what all the fuss is about with that black page, I thought only reason Kubo got so much flack for it was because he hardly ever draws backgrounds and is known for wasting panels.
Even Oda did it with "A man's dream will never die".
This bleach chapter so laughably bad. Ichigo is literally a fan fiction character now.
-
….....?
I find it funny how Bleach never really delves into the topics he claims it does. The reprehensibility of the acts and practices by Seiritei are never explored upon. There is no moral conflict.Infact, there is no acknowledgement,SS never gets called out on anthing it does.
These could've been grounds for some genuine grey morality, for moral conflict and there would be a catalyt for Ichigo's development…had Kubo given a slightest damn.
As for race and xenophobia,it's funny how a certain other WSJ series actually delves into those topics and makes into relevant themes-same manga that's supposedly oh so unsophisticated next to Kubo's golden turd.Though after THIS,them belittling OP next to Bleach isn't surprising.
-
Even Oda did it with "A man's dream will never die".
He still had actual drawings on that page though.
-
Yukito Kishiro did a "Fuck No" page in GUNNM:Last Order.
-

Ichigo's next power up is the Quincekai. His sword is going to turn into a bow and he's going to shoot 10,000 Getsuga Tenshou arrows.
-
Getsuga Tenshou is actually an arrow. It's just a really big one.
-
It would be courteous of Kubo to make that huge arrow with a little note by it saying "* Please go in this direction to read another manga, thanks."
-
Getsuga Tenshou is actually an arrow. It's just a really big one.
You know.. has the Getsuga Tenshou actually worked on a main villain? Like.. ever?

It's hardly ever at forefront, but it comes up. My computer is acting nuts, but there's a chapter in the Fullbringer arc where Hitsugaya and Rukia both give monologues about how Ichigo has softened Soul Society's practices. They've been under no grounds to help Ichigo other than they owe him.
-

Ah yes, the "million years of ridgity" comment…..
Aside from that, when have these issues come up? If you recall, I made a post some pages back as to why SS is an awful place. And here's the biggest example.....Seireitei keeps the reiatsu-less souls out via a giant wall and giant guards. Naturally, this is unfair. But when has a character ever said "hey! why the hell do they keep the regular souls out?!"?
You think Ichigo's group in the beginning of the SS arc would comment on this......or did they? Either way, the issue hasn't been pressing on Kubo's agenda.
And oh ho, let's not forget Mayuri and the Quincy torture! I don't understand why Ishida hasn't told Yamamoto or the most, his friends, about these twisted experiments. Mayuri appears in the HM arc and rescues Ishida......yet Kubo downplays the issue being making Mayuri "quirky" and Ishida never even brings it up!

You mean the million year rigidity of the Soul Society thing?Nope, that's not quite what I'm talking about, that was about them stupidly overdoing things.
I'm talking about the massive atrocities that they have commited and keep on commiting even after being supposedly softened up by peaceful times or Ichigo or whatever. It's also funny how Ichigo had a moment of hesitation due to something as trivial and perfectly reasonable as SS keeping tabs on his Substitute Shinigami abilites, all while not being the least bit troubled by the actual terrible practices of SS very funny.
