I really enjoyed the Captain America movie. It was campy as hell, but I didn't mind.
People don't like Cap?!

Con Air.
Legally Blonde.

My ex loved the shit out of Con Air while I was just "meh. not a good movie" ._.
If I had to list my Top 8 favorite Films of all time, then they would be, in order:

Van Helsing: Being a fan of monster movies, this one won me over on the trailer alone. I made sure I had enough to see this in theaters and needless to say I had a good time. Hugh Jackman was great as the monster hunter and especiallly love the guy who play Frankenstein's monster. Not to mention the set pieces and costumes, very nice. Not the best told story but its pure popcorn eatery and doesn't shoot for anything more then that. I can dig it.
You are going to hate this then: Universal Studios is rebooting the film with Tom Cruise as the Title Character.
Oh, and they're also rebooting The Mummy_._
Who doesn't love Tom Cruise

Guilty pleasures hmm
If I had to list some then:
Last Samurai
Troy
Bad Boys 1 and 2
Unbreakable
Also Tom Cruise owns.
Troy was awesome, I don't know how you can hate it. I'm a sucker for Greek myth though so…
I love the shit out of Zoolander…but who doesn't? So nevermind.

I could tell that the plot was very weak and derivative and it had a very weak climax. But I loved the action choreography and Brad Pitt's character as Achilles so I didn't mind.
Who doesn't love Tom Cruise
I think I'd hate him if I didn't find him kind of silly, does that count?
Like him or hate him, he really gets into a role to the point that it's crazy. Like in MI4, it's actually him scaling the Dubai building. Not even a stunt double or anything.
@Monkey:
I think I'd hate him if I didn't find him kind of silly, does that count?
If even you can't commit yourself hate him then he's untouchable
@Rogues':
I shall answer this with another quote
@Thousand:
Tom Cruise owns.
This is of course only refering to his acting career. Just like with Mel Gibson i leave his private problems out it.
Prometheus
Sympathy for Mr Vengeance (I dunno if people have seen this one)
Space Jam
Independence Day/The Patriot
Also throwing in Silent Hill, Treasure Planet and Wild Wild West. I enjoyed all of them, I haven't seen WWW in a long time but still remember it well.
Sympathy for Mr Vengeance (I dunno if people have seen this one)
This is a well loved film as far as I know.
The only people who don't like Tom Cruise, as an actor, are people who haven't seen Magnolia.
Death Race
#2) The most recent one I can think of that fits the bill is Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides.
Oh yeah, and Cars 2.
And its not recent but…
Bio-Dome, there I said it.
Okay… this takes the cake.
no i can see that. i don't know if anything with Pauly Shore in it can stand the test of time and i'm not eager to find out.
I could never bring myself to hate Tom Cruise after this scene.
I didn't even know that was Tom Cruise until the credits rolled.
Long live Tom Cruise
I could never bring myself to hate Tom Cruise after this scene.
After this scene, I became a Tom Cruise fan for life. That wasn't even his best scene in the movie. His best scene was when he was dancing:)
It really took me a while to think of anything but, I finally got some:
1. The Rock: "Micheal Bay sucks…" etc etc. Most of the time I'd agree, but there's something about this movie that's just really good. Yeah I know the "green smoke" scene probably made people bust out with laughter first time they saw it, and there's probably other "retarded" things in the movie, but there's also A LOT to love in it too. The action was often boss, most actors and characters were as well and, I don't know, a lot of the "cheesy" dialogue worked for me. I'd give examples but that'd take too much space.
2. The "Pirates of the Carribean" movies: Well, the first one most people loved, so no problem there. But the sequels? ...got a lot of hate didn't they?
I personally think they're wonderful movies. In the "unpretentious fun summer flicks" category that is.
I hate Elizabeth and Will as much as anyone else, but the rest of the cast/characters are cool.
And I LOVE Geoffrey Rush/Barbossa. Davy Jones as well.
Plus, the big-budget-ness of the movies made for some beautiful imagery.
Nobody hates the rock
Wait, Treasure Planet is hated by many people? I never though of that. I… absolutely adore that movie.
Treasure Planet wasn't bad, certainly a departure from your typical Disney movie. Character could've been portrayed better. But I loved it just for the steampunk setting.
Atlantis The Lost Empire: I just thought it was a good adventure flick. Some sterotypical characters sure (then again this is Disney after all) but I can forgive it just for the journey to the city being entertaining. Climax wasn't bad either.
I actually like Cars. The first one for it slice of life approach. No villain (I don't really consider Chick Hicks one, more like a arrogant rival) and no overall threat. Just a good character arc with some nice jokes in between. Help that it had some good visuals too. Part 2 was a good adventure flick though it did feel a little forced at time, but the worst Pixar movie? Hardly.
Pirates of the Carribeans? The second being my favorite and the first is a very well told pirate movie. The third was pretty good cause hey, unlike the fourth movie, least stuff was going on in it and it kept me interested. Only flaw was yeah, bit too many characters running around with some that don't even matter in the long run. But I'll gladly watch it whenever I get the chance.
Transformers Mmm 1 and 3 as they at least focus on the robots alongside the humans (I was actually disappointed most of the human characters from the first movie never showed up again.)
Intolerable Cruelty is a better film than than people usually give it credit for. It made me believe that the Coen brothers could not make a truly bad film…then I watched The Ladykillers.
Also, The Producers (05') is one of my favorite musicals.
I really liked the 2005 The Producers and was shocked to learn it was panned. Then again I never saw the original.
I also quite enjoyed Grown-Ups. It was one of the better Adam Sandler movies, up there with Happy Gilmore and Little Nicky. It caught me off guard how much heart it had.
I don't think that Treasure Planet and Atlantis are really "hated" movies, but they did do pretty bad at the box office, and I'm not aware of The Rock being hated, if anything that's one of Michael Bay's better movies (though I think having Sean Connery in there was a nice addition).
To be honest, I just assumed The Rock was hated 'cause it's by Micheal Bay, and everyone always says he never made anything that's not complete junk.
It's really cool to hear it's a well liked movie. Means some of my friends and I aren't (THAT) crazy! XD
I also found the first Transfomers to be good. But the second… my god, that could have been the worst film I've ever seen. That was the first time I went to the theatres with friends, and only like the 8th time I've gone to the theatres at all. Shit...
@Sniper:
People don't like Cap?!
Either that or he's referring to the cheesy and incredibly awful 1980's Captain America movie.
As for I like
Space Jam (Don't care if people hate this and Lola)
Harlem Nights
Star Wars Episode I
Spider-Man 3 (One thing I used to hate about this movie was the new intro but don't anymore still hate Kirsten Dunst though)
Last Action Hero
Josie and the Pussycats was hilarious, it's mediocre in some places, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.
Also.. not sure why Alan was skinny in that movie…
Josie and the Pussycats was a really good movie, I'm not sure why the hate for it, unless its just easy target. I didn't like the last 15 minutes of it though. I liked the villains before their reveals.
I really enjoyed Cat in the Hat, and not even in the irony sense. And honestly don't understand why people think the Grinch was the better moive. While Cat in the Hat's jokes might be hit or miss, the hits are so fucking funny.
I also really enjoyed Stay Alive. The movie where you die in a game you die in real life. But apparently that is extremely disliked too.
I'm with the boat who loves Space Jam.
Space jam was on tv last night. I was sure enjoying it.
Glad to hear so many people like Space Jam. I mean, I know a lot of people like the Grinch (which I do to), but for a while I thought I was the one guy who liked Space Jam.
Suckerpunch.
I just do.
Glad to hear so many people like Space Jam. I mean, I know a lot of people like the Grinch (which I do to), but for a while I thought I was the one guy who liked Space Jam.
You've been around this place long enough to know that even when the majority of the board hates something there's (almost) always going to be a minority who likes it.
The World is Not Enough is one of my favorite Bond films.
Glad to hear so many people like Space Jam. I mean, I know a lot of people like the Grinch (which I do to), but for a while I thought I was the one guy who liked Space Jam.
so can Space Jam officially be declared an enjoyable movie that we shouldn't be ashamed of liking.
Space Jam is almost a cult classic at this point, yeah.
Space Jam is one of the movies that defines my childhood. I don't think it's any more a masterpiece than other films than I put in the mental box labeled "awesome nostalgia" such as the first two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles films, The Power Ranger's Movie and Little Monsters. What I mean is, I like Space Jam, but not because it's good but rather because I see it through sepia tinted eyes.
I have always found Cats Don't Dance and We're Back! A Dinosaurs Story to be a pretty underrated animated films.
I haven't seen We're Back! in forever but I loved it as a kid. It's on the same level as Little Nemo, which I just recently rewatched and though it's pretty childish I still loved it.
Cats Don't Dance
Definitely agree with you on that one. I caught it on tv once in high school and it was way better than I expected it to be.
As for me, off the top of my head, I rather like iRobot with Will Smith. I thought it was a pretty suspenseful and thrilling film with pretty interesting characters for a blockbuster. I've heard the main reason people don't like it is because it's a horrible adaptation of the original Isaac Asimov novel which may very well be true but as someone who didn't read the novel I thought it worked pretty well as a film and I personally believe what matters most is a film's merit as a film and not an adaptation. I can understand being upset if a book you like is bastardized on the big screen though.
I also have a soft spot for (get ready) Paul Blart: Mall Cop. I don't know I thought that movie was pretty funny throughout and I was able to enjoy it, I rather like Kevin James as a comedian and I liked how it was a comedy with a protagonist who was actually a good person. Apparently most other people didn't like it though although Roger Ebert gave the movie three stars so I guess I'm not completely alone. Thankfully it doesn't really get anymore embarrassing than that. I think.
What about Cats and Dogs? Yeah, the premise is ludicrous, but I think they pulled it off fairly well.
We're Back! A Dinosaurs Story
You.
I love you.
I always loved that movie, even though, as a little kid, the part where they're at the carnival and they're signing the contract scared the shit out of me.
I just love this movie.
-Kung Pow, so much Kung Pow. Anytime there is a stream on 4chan or any other forum I will stream the shit out of that shit (some will take that last word literally).
-I find Independence Day to be incredible. I need to rewatch it again, but that's not gonna change my thoughts or anything 'cause it's been less than a year since I watched it last.
-God Bless America, recent movie. Its entire premise is about shooting stupid people. The main character is self-righteous and absolutely terrible, but his cohort more than makes up for it. It does shove a lot of stuff down your throat ("If you don't like ThiIiIiIiIs, then you need to be shot!") and ends up being a bit (lot) dictatorial in its views, but did you not hear me why are you still reading this, it is a movie about shooting stupid people. Shooting babies, people who take up two parking spots, prima donnas who get a TV show about yelling at her mom for getting the wrong car…
The 98 Godzilla wasn't all that bad to me. Did expect more citywide destruction but eh.
The Big Hit is another one I hear people riff on. But I loved it, thought Mark Walberg and Lou Diamond had some good chemistry. It also holds a special place in my heart as one of the last few movies I saw at my Drive In before it closed down.
Cats Don't Dance was an all time favorite for me. Saw it once back on Cartoon Network. Loved it to death.
