heh…
Thanks a million man. -
I'd kinda have to agree with what Hisoga posted. They don't really know what's going on there's a lot of risk in taking a fairly large group of children with them when they don't know where the Sunny is. You can guess that at the end of the arc they may wind up handing off the kids to Smoker, but I didn't think the Strawhats knew they were being pursued by the Marines yet.
-
Pandaman is usually far more obvious as the mask really looks like a mask. Even in Amazon Lily, the woman's only island, there is Pandawoman and the mask was obvious. So if there is a Pandakid, I think the mask would be obvious but On looking at the page, its at a odd angle, so I can NOT rule it out LOL When Pandaman appeared in the big pile of bodies of Don Kreig's crew, his mask was obvious …but very, very small. so it is possible ... not for Pandaman but maybe Pandakid ;)
True, it is hard to tell (and I'm admittedly pretty bad about spotting Pandaman without someone else pointing him out). Its just the more I look at that panel, the more it really does look like Pandakid (and its mostly the eyes that make me think that).
-
I think the Master is a renegade Timelord. He probably has a TARDIS tucked away on the island somewhere, let's see fi we can play 'spot the blue police call box.'
Kudos to the people who called Punk Hazard as the site of the Aokiji/Akainu showdown. I ruled it out because of the 4 year gap when the fire/ice is not related to that incident after all.
Perona cover story, she could yet join the crew haha. No.
I think Big Mom may have an agency, like Crocodile had Baroque Works. We might get a saga-length build up to the inevitable battle between the Straw Hats and Mom's crew.
Perhaps the children are there to test some kind of vaccine for an illness rising out of the Vegapunk Incident. "We're not sick any more…" it's working? Their usage as experimental guinea pigs makes sense and would explain why they want to escape from this place.
-
regarding about saving the children or not, Franky already said it the best.. no matter what they can't just dragging the kids without know what exactly happen and will happen, why and where they are, where they will heading next etc.
That may as well be the reason for taking the children along, as I've stated in my previous post.

That sickness part you said at the end is a possibility, and it would make sense that they would use giants as well because if the vaccine worked on giants, and esecially babies, then it should work on normal people.
-
Why do I have the feeling that the Strawhats releasing those children from their "quarantine" will turn out to be a huge mistake?
-
Why would you quarantine children on a dangerous, abandoned island such as Punk Hazard? That is a big indication that the kids aren't safe. While they are out of danger in their shelter, the suspicious location tells us they're in greater potential danger for staying.
-
Why do I have the feeling that the Strawhats releasing those children from their "quarantine" will turn out to be a huge mistake?
A giant mistake you mean.
Interesting thought. As far as we know, Oda can pretty much come up with the most unexpected conclusion for this arc.
Also, I forgot to note, that not only giant children are there. This makes me wonder if they are really the kids of giants, or just like that because of experiments. I'll assume it's the latter since I find it more exciting, but who knows, really~ -
Not sure if this has been posted yet or not, but what the hell is wrong with Sanji's hand in the middle left panel?!?! http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/658/11
-
Yeah, that hand is creepy. The fingers are all messed up.
-
and has anyone noticed brook's cup with his jolly roger on?!?!? <3
-
His former Jolly Roger. Everybody has a new one now.
Also, I would like to know if anybody else thinks this arc is going to be a short one (two volumes max, 18-20 chapters). I know there are plenty of mysteries going around here, but the story seems to be advancing pretty fast (the Strawhats are pretty much done with the fire side) so I wouldn't be surprised if (mostly) everything gets wrapped up in ten chapters from now on.
Lack of possible long flashbacks and few antagonists (the weird slime, Smoker and, possibly, the Harpy) don't help me believe otherwise.

I agree, I think it'll probably be a short arc, though many people are saying it is going to be like the Baroque arc where right when they enter the Grand Line and a big arc starts right there.
-
Exactly. It's probably a setup arc for Wano Country or Big Mom's Arc (mostly the former).

If Akainu going all out in a battle does this to an island.Luffy vs Akainu is gonna be insane
-
It could be possible that the sickness they are trying to cure is the same one that got to Rogers and to the Captain of Brook's crew. The mysterious disease.
-

That's good thinking, but it might be something else(like said earlier in the thread) that they had given to the children to do testing. But you never know.~
-

No way, because the Roger Pirate crew never decimated by a mysterious illness.
The Rumbar Pirates did have a contagious disease. Captian Yorki and about half the crew caught this plauge. Considering how contagious it was to take out nearly half of the Rumbar Pirates, it is not the same as the Roger Pirates, the crew did not get sick, only Gol D Roger contracted any illness, so what ever Roger got, it was not contagious.
It was not the same illness that caused hardship for the two crews. -

It was not the same illness that caused hardship for the two crews.I know roger crew didn't got it. I was referring to Roger only and to the Rumba pirates(which forgot their names at that moment). Roger's disease was never explained. I am pretty sure that this sickness they kept referring to will be somehow related to the same one that Roger had or the Rumba Pirates. It probably started because of the Rumba Pirates. When the Captain reached some island, it infected other people and through the pass 50 years it has "evolve".

than you have to explain why the Roger was the only one to have it and not his crew. also WB had some illness to, and Luffy's bound to end up dead using Gear Second and the Hormones. you can't connect all these sickness and claim they are the same…. that's what your doing with Roger and Rumble pirates. Could they be the same, Maybe but the chances are extremely low.
From what we can guess so far, Roger and Rumble pirates had different problems. -
I thought it'd be weird if the WG was setting up a new experimental prison(one like Impel Down/Enies Lobby) on Punk Hazard. What I don't quite understand is if "Leggy" is the lower half of the Samurai head…How is it talking?
-
After reading a couple of posts, I realized that the straw hats taking unknown "kids" with them might not be the wisest idea underseveral circumstances; Ill try to expand on those a little.
1. It could well be that the "kids" are "ill" but not from a terminal disease or a flue, but a "need to control disease". What would happen if the kids are in "quarantine" (As someone said before) because they're actually dangerous to leave outside unnattended? Don't get me wrong, the feeling and vibe that the kids gave is one of, "we're innocents and healthy" but that doesn't have to mean that they're always like that. I admit this is an unlikely posibility from all viewpoints but it will certainly be a twist if it is true.
2. Different sizes; not different species. I'm also getting the feeling that those giant kids may be humans "under treatment" instead of giants. IF they are kept in "quarantine" because the drug is on the development phase then if it's not treated it might make them huge or tiny .Ok I get an Alice in wonderland mushroom feeling there but seeing where this is going and what we've seen why not have a gigantic kid destroy an island that doesn't have a magnetic pull and which is half frozen half molten?
-
For now I take 'illness' as the official reason given to make the children comply with being examined. I would rather have these kids truly be of various races including giants they are of all shapes & sizes(hey the kiddies left that giant baby behind in the confusion),some tanner than others some with slanted eyes and you can even spot what looks like a fishman on p7 panel 1 and some really weird little faces on the 5th panel which I'm wondering whether they are even human(seriously what is the thing next to the blond giant. Seeing there is Master and all the freak show walking around wouldn't be surprised if it's not human,or not anymore) or if it's just lazy art. What interests me more is the frozen people.

@Baou:
If Akainu going all out in a battle does this to an island.Luffy vs Akainu is gonna be insane
Was thinking the same. It seems that we witnessed only a fraction of an Admirals power during Marine Ford, with them trying to not kill their own subordinates (same goes for Whitebeard).
-
What if.. all these kids are here because they all have King's Haki/Disposition? And they're trying to distill it. Or something.
They are really strong babies.. giant babies, samurai babies..–> I have no real reason to think the King's Haki thing.
1. If they have King's Haki, their parents are probably really strong.
2. If their parents are really strong, they wouldn't have gotten tricked so hard by these guys. Also, I'm sure someone else noticed/thinks this but Law and Buggy's Devil Fruits seem completely complementary. Buggy, within an area, can split himself. Law, within an area, can split others.
-

Yeah I think every top tier tones his fight down when subordinates are on the island, it was pretty much confirmed that WB was going to easily destroy the island when his crew and allies got away, I'm not even sure if we saw 1/12 of his real power, if he's capable of destroying the world then him and roger probably really need to limit themselves
similarly ace and blackbeard easily destroyed an island in their final attack, and now aokiji and akainu cause this
I think it's safe to say top tier can destroy (kill all inhabitants of a normal island
-
They don't have to fit on the Sunny because Smokey's there now. And who cares how they are going to survive the weather, what about Luffy's group who are all stripped down, how are they going to survive the Aokiji side?
How can i argue against this logic,
Firstly Nobody has a clue smoker is chasing them so thats completely invalid, unless they gained psychic abilitys.
''Who cares how they are going to survive the weather'' are you hearing yourself if the whole point of it is saving the kids i would think the strawhats care if the kids survive the weather.
''How are luffys group gonna survive aokijis side'' how Am i men't to know. how about we wait and see because im certainly not psychic, and are you seriously comparing luffys group the superhumans to little kids you've lost it mate.
Now let me reffer back to my original argument in that sanji is not a douche for not wanting to take the kids along, he was just thinking logically being chased by armed guards and not having a clue where you are was to much of a risk to take who is to say that the kids haven't got a serious contagious illness. -

And yes nobody knows Smoker is there yet but most people are now assuming/ guessing the kids will end up with Smoker.
-
naturally it's just theory, and with the given amount of information we have we're assuming 1. The kids will be saved 2. A pirate ship is no place for children, so they'll have to dump them off somewhere. Being a vice-admiral of marine HQ seems like a pretty legitimate reason to stop and help some kids out, especially if they're talking of abuse. The Master doesn't seem to be in cahoots with the WG, which is why he would settle on PH, cause after the battle and vegapunks failed experiment nobody would bother to go there, especially with poison gas still leaking out, natural or not. So, not only have our protagonists found a cause to investigate, so has smoker, and the master is still in the middle of all this, a clash seems obvious.
As for the weather, luffy passed 2years, so 96 seasons worth on that island he was training at, some of which were obviously winter (snowfall first chapter post-ts) and we never saw him with more clothes than he has on now, can't speak for the others though.

That does make sense, but it just makes me curious that Oda would put in the line "All kidding aside, we're going to die in these clothes".
Oh and good someone else recognising Marine= meant to help protect people= help the kids escaping some evil(??) slime/slop thing

A buring island and biscuits. Cue Yosamite Sam "My bisquits are buring! My bisquits are buring!"

Stupid question.
Any guesses on the Samurai's name? -
@nodensuke:
Stupid question.
Any guesses on the Samurai's name?Sejiro Hiko:ninja:
Oda did work for that Manga. -
I can't ever recall a time when anyone tried to guess anyone's name. I doubt we'd even come close.
-
That's actually why I asked, I've never read name guesses and wanted to know what people thought.
-
i believe Luffy said his name was Leggy.
-
well we are learning about a Samurai nation and will visit it in the Future.
wonder if Oda will have someone who might be similar to someone from Kenshin.
I want to see a One piece Makoto Shishio. Imagine the Badassery. -
I kinda hope he tags along and takes them to Wano next, I know it's kinda to soon but, I want him to join the crew aswell..
Since Wano was mentioned the first thing that came to mind was Kenshin, it's gonna be a great arc. -

Do we really need a third swordsman?
-
Do we really need a third swordsman?
Yeah, I think adding another Swordsman would be kind of redundant at this point. Brook's okay because despite being a swordsman, his fighting style is different enough from Zoro's that they don't feel too similar. A samurai, particularly one that likely doesn't have a DF and fights like a traditional swordsman, wouldn't really add anything new.
-
They could just recruit his bottom half.
Leggy would make a perfect addtion to the SH Crew. -
He may have a DF considering his legs are talking to Luffy, it doesn't seem they can hear though. I also just like how he was introduced to the story, seems a perfect fit for the crew. You're right 3 is pushing it..But he may be more than just a swordsman.
-
All these secret experimental bases, hatch doors, island shattering incidents, kid stealing, and sickness scream only one thing… LOST. Maybe Oda is a fan. He doesn't hide the influences in his work. I wonder if he'll give a proper shout out and use the numbers.
AND A SMOKE MONSTER!!!!!
-
@Baou:

One half of this island is all magma the other half is all rubber??
-
It's always possible, we just have zero evidence so far in this case.
And him being a Devil Fruit user doesn't raise his chances.
-
Raise his chances of what? Being part of the crew or being more than just a swordsman?

Life in the new world is incredible, im loving the new undefined arc
I wanna see Jimbei a part of the crew but would be so awesome if aokiji joined but less than likely with his history with robin and the crew
