What bugs me is that we're already in a new arc and Usopp still has that ridiculous fisherman hat.
you must hat Bonney's new look, she's wearing the same type of hat, just black, under that fur cloak.

How could we see cleavage when in that close up nothing is shown below the chin?? It is a possiblitiy, esp since many thought Izo was female in the first few panels. But we thought Haruta was male, some hints have been given that suggest Haruta is female, and we never see any bumps much less no cleavage. In short its too soon to judge the gender http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/657/5

Its been mentioned for the past 3 chapters, since they first arrived at the island.

Just a question, but when the samurai is getting mad at Nami he mentions that "A woman should walk 3 steps behind a man". I always assumed that this particular belief was based in the Middle east. Is there something like that in Japanese tradition as well?
Also, looking back, Kuina's dad was also probably a samurai from Wano, which would explain where his "women can't be as strong as men" belief comes from if their country has very traditionalist gender roles.

Both have that sort of custom.

But we thought Haruta was male, some hints have been given that suggest Haruta is female, and we never see any bumps much less no cleavage. In short its too soon to judge the gender except for one clue…. while we didn't see it, Usopp did when she opened her wings to fly off, that is when Usopp said "woman"
http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/657/5Usopp never said "woman", though. He said "person".
The sad fact of the matter is that if a girl in One Piece is pretty, has hit puberty, and is important, she's gonna be voluptuous; and Oda will probably draw her intro page/panel at least cleavage-up.
And it'd be nice if Haruta was a girl, but he doesn't fit Oda's general pattern for that.
Could Oda have broken it for him? Sure. Could he have broken it for Bird Lady too? Sure. Infact, I'd love it if that were the case.
I'm just not banking on it because Oda usually scraps diverse, good-looking female character designs in favor of identical figures and BOOBIESLOLOLOLOL.
-
Oda does seem to love his Boobies, so im with every1 else if no boobies shown it most likely either young girl or a male
-
Just a thought
If law is not the Shichibukai, maybe he works for Buggy as subordinate?? I mean, Law's DF ability should not be a problem for Buggy who specialized in controlling his body parts.
-
Usopp never said "woman", though. He said "person".

I went and edited my post. It was a different wording than it had now. The first reading had woman, but now reads as other sites; person. But it still doesn't change the fact the close up only shows the face, not even the shoulders so we can't kow if there are boobs or not. Thats was my point, its too early to say.
As for Haruta, (can't find the talk page now) but someone was saying that when Oda revealed the names of the Whitebeard Commanders, the wording used when giving Haruta's name was what used when speaking of female, not male. I don't read Japanese so I can't say or not, thats what I meant by hints.
-

Are you suggesting that all the women in Amazon Lily and all the mermaids in Fishman Island look the same? Sure, they all have ideal cleavage, but I would not consider that lack of diversity.
-
@Fire Fist:
Although Law is the most likely candidate for this craziness, I thought of another possibility: Someone with a "Toychest" DF.
Here's my evidence:
1. Dinosaur - Could be a Dinosaur Toy. Kids play with Dinosaurs.
2. Samurai lower half - broken in half, like an action figure.
3. Bird Lady - Random bird woman toy?
4. Samurai's head - broken up in random shaped pieces, like legosCouple that with the other kids, and it sounds like some kid's (or childish Adult) personal play place.
It still doesn't explain the sleeping gas or the giant skull the SHs had discovered in ch. 655.
So u think sum michael jackson (not Jango!) is on that island with his neverland ranch? -
Am I the only one disappointed in the implication of Nami calling her bikini top "fashion" like it's something special? Remember how our characters change fashion through certain arcs? Well, with that in mind I was hoping Nami would switch that top for something else. It's a cheap shortcut to make Nami sexy, and as it stands her current outfit is a palette swap for last arc's outfit. It bugs me.
I know right and Zori and Ruffy walking around like strippers with sweat dripping all over their abs put something on ffs
Cheap attempt by Oda to show boobies but hey it's just a bikini lol and from her pov it's fashion just like her other outfits. And before this threads goes off track here http://apforums.net/showthread.php?t=30903

the guy behind all this has a puzzle puzzle no mi DF ! xD

ONE PIECE 657 RAW

Well,For all we know Law might have that "Puzzle Puzzle" fruit
I mean correct me if im wrong but we never knew what df he had.

ONE PIECE 657 RAW
the best release for now to me… more details appear
thank u very much -
Giant kids + talking robot and raccoon. Uh oh.
This chapter has me thinking how much Vegapunk has learned about copying devil fruit powers. Aside from the shrunk strawhats theory, everything we've seen so far that can be explained with a devil fruit power is a power from someone connected to the WG.
Now I'm more excited about seeing new model Pacifistas in later arcs.
I'm also excited bout that. Sentomarou said the PXs fighting the monster trio didn't change in those 2 yrs.
So there have to be more improved ones anywhere (most likely in the NW where they're needed). For people who are saying that Law is infact the Shichibukai mentioned,The Samurai said he was cut by someone but not killed
the thing is Law's ability isn't cutting people's parts, his sword is used for normal cutting as we saw in his fight with kuma
but to actually split parts he uses his df ability, "Shambles" with his finger. He uses just his sword to "cut" enemies. But for "shambles" he indeed uses his hands. He requires both his hands and his sword to use his DF properly.
Back @ SA people speculated that Law as well as his sword both had a DF. His sword had a cut-evrything-df and Law himself got a put-them-together-differently-DF. At the same time people speculated that Kuma and his bible both had DFs too.
Kuma had the paw-DF and people thought his bible had a "memory-of-islands'-location"-DF.
U c back then abilities had been explained with even more than one DF.BTW it's all the more plausible for Law to cut those Wano-Samurai(s). It doesn't matter how good they are with their katanas, once u r in Law's "room", u get cut by him. Who else except Zoro, Vista and Mihawk would be able to cut Samurais from Wano just like that?
And "No" to the shrink-theory:
The room with the kids has railings made for normal humans like sumone here said b4. Also if the SHs had been shrunk, the Samurai-head had to be shrunk too as well as the mask guys. And cut+shrunk at the same time would be too much of a disgrace 4 such a warrior. -

Apart from all the story relevant stuff, I think it should be noted that Sanji finally got his "I'm badass as hell" - closeup. Imho the first since the timeskip.
!
In all other panels he was either used as retarded comedy relief or over-ambitious maniac.
-
"hey guys shes totallt a dude because we didnt see boobs an usopp said a person instead of girl, i am self fufilling my trap fetish"
Just, so dumb. Okay seriously though, doesn't anyone think the character is obscured for sake of MYSTERY??
Also as awesome as Usopp's eyes are, it's sort of HARD to see a person that far away, especially without his goggles on, it's called a person because it's a bit VAGUE in Usopp's point of view.Obviously this was just used as a way to conceal the character until we get a half page panel of their full body; this sort of introduction isn't exactly NEW to Oda's panel placement and character introductions you know.
-
@The:
What if Law has this puzzle DF everyone's talking about.
I mean…his DF hasn't even been named yet, and its capabilities could very likely be expanded on. (The full extent of what his power can do hasn't been explored yet imho). He could have the "Puzzle Puzzle fruit"; he's a puzzle man (and his theme song is Schism by Tool).
Lol, I'd love that.
But in all seriousness, I'm not sure about all of this… IMO it is most probably Law behind this, or else some other guy with a puzzle fruit - I don't think this is Law's fruit, for the following reasons:
-
so far, when he's "cut" people, it was less of a jigsaw puzzle but more of a clean "cut", like "Legs" - but not the head. Somehow seems out of place.
-
whenever we've seen Law using his ability, he was able to cut people, and then randomly SWAPPED things in his room around to reattach them. He didn't just take something apart which could be reassembled at wish, he "replaced" things.
-
the head however is an actual "puzzle", and Legs, too -> both can be reattached to things at will, and taken off again to attach to something else as you please, until it fits (reassembling "head".)
Just my take on this, it makes most sense to me as things have been depicted so far.
EDIT: I did like to think Jinbe would join. Well, he didn't, for now. But I would be lying if I said I always wanted him to. I felt it would be out of place since he was introduced and interacted with Luffy, but then the timeskip came et cetera. I much more prefer the typical "character X gets introduced in arc/interacts/Strawhats help/joins crew" formula, however generic it may seem. Thus, I'd love it if this were to happen instead of Jinbe. Though the Samurai probably won't do it.

Didn't read the entire thread
Has it been suggested yet that the giant kids may be used for making Pacifistas? I mean, they are Kuma-ish in size, and it was always noted the Pacifistas bleed (Meaning they are more than likely cyborgs or once human). It's pretty dark for OP, but who knows? This is afterall, the New World. Vegapunk is definitely involved in this arc, and he is responsible for the creation of Pacifistas.I don't think that the WG needs very many Pacifistas, given that using them in the New World is useless (given the strength of the crews) and they stand unopposed in Paradise, they don't really go boom very often. Plus that's quite the investment in terms of time.
-
U know what else?
How comes Sanji knows bout a typical Wano kuni hairstyle?
Did he heard of them in one of Zeff's tales from the NW?This, along with him staring at the guy intently when he said he wanted to rescue his son made me wonder.
Because, when you think about it, we know jack shit about Sanji. We know he got on a boat with no parents in the middle of a completely different sea then he's from, and I've always wondered about that.

im gunna disagree here i think the pacifistas did great at tearing up nw pirates in the marine ford arch. sure luffy zoro and sanji can wreck them now but not everyone in the NW is that strong. think of it this way joze marco WB and vista could all wreck a pacifista no problem but a lower commander might have a little trouble. i wouldnt be surprised if we get a fanky vs pacifista chapter in the near future i mean they're no pushovers just looke at the pre time skip arch. I'll agree that they cant function that well alone but put them with a marine VA and you have a strong crew.

Even then, the fact that there are people who can take one out is a liability, a huge one when you consider the cost. It makes sense to keep them in the half where there aren't people who can take them down in one hit.
-
the pacifistas which were destroyed by luffy, zoro and sanji were just prototypes

Yes but I always felt Sanji was sort of sticking out. I mean, I know I've brought this up before, but what kinda parent lets his 10 year old kid go out alone to cook onboard a ship unsupervised on the other side of the world ?
-
Something tells me that he is gonna befriend the straw hats(he is certainly quite excentric). He certainly has a sense of honor and I think he will protect the straw hats from the marines.
This samurai has integrity like Zoro except that he is rather sexist, conservative in the dressing code and not immune to women.
He might have an interesting arc because he will learn that not all pirates are evil and he will stop being sexist if Tashigi defeats him. It will be kind of cool that one of the samurais of the Wano country acknowledges her as a worthy swordsman.

Thank you!You get the point I was making. We can not say if its male or female yet from just that one panel, we need to see more. I supppose you said it better than me….guess that is what happens when one tries to be polite!
@No:
Yes but I always felt Sanji was sort of sticking out.
It is interesting that Sanji knew of the topnot hairstyle of Samurai. We have Brook discussing them the previous chapter, and sanji says nothing and we get no looks form Sanji but then BAM! Sanji knows enough to recognize a samurai by the hairstyle.
I mean, I know I've brought this up before, but what kinda parent lets his 10 year old kid go out alone to cook onboard a ship unsupervised on the other side of the world ?
two kinds= A- the dead and B- the kind that are there on the ship but we just never saw them. But I really don't believe in option B since we never saw Sanji mention them, so I think his parents were already dead when he started to work on that ship.

It's not the replies, that matter.
It is the will and…
Okay, listen, no replies doesn't mean your posts are bad or aren't great. For example sometimes when I see a good post, I go like: "Wow, this guy is onto something. I totally agree!" then, when I want to write a response to it, I just... unable to. So I leave without giving any sign of liking that post even though I do like it.
If you'd like, I'll always respond to your posts, even when it comes out awkwardly~
On-topic (not really): so anyone else think the soccer-kid is FemGiant's and AfroGiant's son? Uncle Lacroix did a crap job making the little fella not to get kidnapped...

The raws Redon just posted had "hito", which means "person/human".
I know we can't make a 100% confirmation on her gender, but I'm making an educated guess based on Oda's patterns in the past.
As for Haruta, I'm not sure what that person meant when saying "speaking of female". Japan has gender-neutral pronouns, so unless Oda was describing him as "beautiful and graceful" or something along those lines, there's not really any way to identify gender without using 女 (woman) or 男 (man).
Are you suggesting that all the women in Amazon Lily and all the mermaids in Fishman Island look the same? Sure, they all have ideal cleavage, but I would not consider that lack of diversity.
They're diverse because one group's human and the other has mermaids and fishwomen. And while they had unique faces for the most part, the pretty ones all had that identical hourglass figure.

You missed the part where I said I'd like it if she was a girl.
I know she could be covered for the sake of mystery (or maybe she's naked; who knows). But I also know that Oda likes drawing boobs and cleavage and makes it no question when a woman's a woman.
This isn't Koala were talking about (unless they're the same person; HMMMMMMMMMM). Bird Lady's a fully grown adult, and had that wing not been there, we wouldn't even be arguing over it.
I hope we get an answer soon, but until then I'm still gonna guess she's a dude.

It's funny, because I'm writing a 5-page essay on Scandinavian mythology. Thus, I know who those are! Great feeling
I now want the Giant Squad to have names of Scandinavian gods and creatures.

Just a little guy trying to rape giant kids. . . And with this I make no judgement about the MJ affair.Lol, I'd love that.
But in all seriousness, I'm not sure about all of this… IMO it is most probably Law behind this, or else some other guy with a puzzle fruit - I don't think this is Law's fruit, for the following reasons:

-Actually it wasn't always a clean cut. http://www.mangareader.net/103-2612-4/one-piece/chapter-505.html
- We only saw him trade things, he never manipulated them. Like buggy manipulates his parts. That much is true. But we don't know if the cut parts, before being replaced were sticky or not.
-We don't know if the part's Law cut were sticky or not. The lack of evidence is not evidence in it self.
And it's interesting that Law can only trade something for another. Reminds me of those puzzles where you can only trade pieces. (Those you see online and on old celphone games)
Not going to call Law has puzzle fruit just because of that, but it's interesting trivia.
I'm just assuming the puzzle thing was good old dark humor. He was into pieces and was just asking them to put him back to normal. -
