I don't think Luffy will allow any dragon slaying since he might befriend it next chapter.
Because i dont see any other reasons for the samurai's being on Punk Hazard besides being somehow connected to the dragon who most likely is escaping from them.

Just got around to reading this chapter and, OH GOOD GOD, does it feel good to be at the start of a new arc! Don't get me wrong, I happened to like Fishman Island - as much for what it set up for later as for what occurred during it - but this feels an order of magnitude removed from that place…

Some can say the differences can be dismissed as the hazard sign is flat, the horns can be going up or forward, when flat it looks nearly the same. it also resembes Oars flag. Some would say it could be Oda's style has changed, after all we saw the Giant's flag in what? chapter 122? a lot of his style has changed since then esp in the little things ..or big things when fanboys sidcuss Nami's change of bara size

You seem to have missed the part where it was said that the skull was bigger than that of a giant, implying that it is not a giant, in addition to the fact that a warning symbol strikingly similar to the skull/Jolly Roger of Oars III appeared on the door of Punk Hazard, lending credence to the idea that this was once the frozen land where Oars came from.

I think Vegapunk did something to de-magnetized the island so that no-one could find it with a log pose.Raftel is probably de-magnetized as well somehow.

He didn't need to de-magnetize it, one of the Ministers on FI said some islands magnetic fiellds are not registered at all, so its not just one island but several that have that quality of the log needles not reacting to them. But good call on Raftel, I'd not thought of that. If the log pose doesn't respond to it, then it would explain why Roger implied there's a trick to finding it when he offered to tell Whitebeard how to get there.

We don't know yet some think only Luffy since the sea kings said they think he heard them. But look at the "speach bubbles" of those sea kings and the dragon. They are different. The failure is most likely the cause for such a bizarre climate on the island.
The dragon found a isolated place to stay away from people, with 1 side that fits its capability for living and found shelter there.

I have never seen a cataclysmic Vegapunk Failure. Barujimoa was not a cataclysmic failure, but a relatively harmless one. He didn't actually hurt anyone, but he simply could not find the resources to make his invention feasible.

It's more like someone tried to tamper with Vegapunk's equipment or tried to use his stuff to invent something of his own but failed to create adequate safety precautions. Or maybe dragons attacked his lab, which then malfunctioned and blew up half the island while freezing the other.

Meant to post this a few hours ago but Holy fuck I love this chapter! Read the new chapter a little while ago. I love how Usopp wanted to trade right away, Smoker looks awesome, and it wasn't the dragon that blew my mind but the fact that he could talk. I'm hoping like many others that he's an actual dragon and not just a DF user. I'd be kind of bummed if he was just a DF user. If he is a DF, why spoil the dragon surprise right away?

Raijin Island has been brought up in the Manga in three different occasions. I'll be surprised if the Straw Hats don't go there in the future.

Personal preferences which i don't have a problem with at all.

Comparing it to naruto is a big disgrace for Oda who's out did himself over and over again.

Oda is great author who's Integrity, Devotion and Intellegence shouldn't be doubted at this point who's proven himself when it comes to Plot and Character development, Especially the Destiny theme.

We don't know if he hurt anyone on Punk Hazard either. Something happened which caused them to evacuate 4 years ago; which is the Accident I think caused the island to be what it is, or it's a natural disaster, However we should be leaning more towards the government experiments more due to recent developments.

Stupid question: Was the Brownbeard island name foodvalten or was that the town. Just thinking that that makes them not one of the islands that the compass lands on from fishmand island. I would say that urouges island is 100% the thunder island, while the others two are probably the one that apoo or capone (mysterious island) and then risky red would somehow fit to the blackbeard island.

Well, I was thinking the same thing. But we don't actually have any further indication, and even if it was. It wasn't anything significant anyway
edit: There were Aztec/Indian totems where BB had taken Bonney, so if we see the same thing here at Punk Hazzard, then we can conclude its the same island

1. SMOKER IS BACK FUCK YEAH!
2. I like how the general gist of Smoker's part was to say 'the dumber Luffy gets, the more likely he is to outsmart the marines.'
3. I wanted that gate busted down the moment I saw it. Another reason I love Punk Hazard is that it could mean we might get to see islands that are off the beaten path.
4. Wado country is part of the New World. There's a dragon. Zoro has a sword from Wado and it has a reputation of killing a dragon. This is going to pay off somehow, I can smell it.

I have a small theory. Dragons became extinct few centuries ago. Dr vaga punk conducted experiments on this island to genetically resurract dragons from DNA (much like jurrasic park), he was successful but dragons were dangerous and out of control , so the facility got destroyed by dragons.The samurai are there on punk hazard to hunt dragons as it seems history of wano is some how associated with dragons.
I support this idea. Wano samurais could have killed those dragons as a part of trial. Killing dragons is also a tradition in "the last airbender". There the dragons got slayed by fire benders.
Or Vegapunk tried to develop his heating system but sth got wrong and now even the sea burns (this is no realistic physics anyway).
Akainu could still hav fought on that isle. If it was cold and hot there b4 they started the duel, no one had a handicap, but they could have interrupted by the dragon.
Bout the sign that looks like the Jolly Roger of the giants,
u must know signs have to be read easily so even the biggest moron understands it and this sign just says:
"Warning, do not enter this door, there is a friggin monster behind it!" Though a giant skull was there too, it maybe was a giant marine who tried to stop the dragon or a pirate giant tried to stop it.
The fact that the log pose doesn't respond could be cause this island is either created by humans or its original location was in one of the blues (like TB came originally from west blue).
If a wano samurai is there I hope he recognizes at least one of zoros swords.
Another theory: If Vegapunk shows up the next time I hope he has sum brain-related DF, like if he touches sumbody he gains all of this person's knowledge. And if he touches Robin things becum really interesting cause then he could read the poneglyphes…

No, we saw the seas when Sanjuan Wolf was standing in the waters and it was not on fire. and the seas were not red. The land was on fire because two pirate crew had fought- Bonney pirates that were throughly kicked by the Blackbeard pirates. IT was not the same island.

I know that, I am more interested in how he'll explain Zoro's mindwipe regarding that matter. But I guess it's most likely a fail translation by Mangastream…as usual.

That's why I sometimes hate the Raw coming out WAY later than the translated version … people just argue over the 'translated' lines and I for one don't really like MS or MR's translations because I feel they get the meaning wrong ...

hmm… Luffy and Zoro being able to take on a logia without much problem depends on the individual and Smoker is in no way below them in any category that involves 1 on 1 combat that Smoker cannot counter back with.
Robin having haki or not shouldn't be compared to Smoker at all.

Many members have pointed out that punk hazard might be wano country, which may not be the case but surely is very interesting theory. Oda is unpredictable and may shock his readers that long awaited wano country of NW , is actually deserted, unpopulated , dangerous island with no magnetic field nowadays…a once great country destroyed by a catostrophe due experiments by WG..if oda takes this angle, then it would be more shocking, tragic and atypical for readers and this line of story would be more interesting then typical wano arc with typical story...
1- from brook's description it seems that samuari were exclusive to wano and from zoro's reaction it seems that not much is known about samauri swordsmen in one piece as wano was/is not open to outsiders. In my opinion it was always isolated because the island never generated magnetic fields so they were mostly cut off from rest of world. I was not expecting brook to say that wano doesnt need to affiliate with WG ,instead of younkou. I mean in NW countries choose to affiliate with one of four younkou , not NW as new world is place where four pirates emperors rule. So may be brook is not upto date. Perhaps 50 years ago there were no younkous and WG was ruling new world and wano was free country at that time.
2- That giant skull and that skull symbol on gate is very much like oars. In marineford every one was shocked and surprized that oars exists...so may be oars lived on wano/punk hazard and world (except WG and marines) was unaware because punk hazard doesnt generate magnetic field and old wano was close to outsiders. To see a giant skull on punk hazard may indicate that some thing unfortunate also happened to giants along with human inhabitants after that incident 4 years ago.
3- Robin is most knowledigble member of strawhats yet she was surprised to see a dragon. It is not possible that she was shocked because she was thinking that dragons are in myths. Robin is historian, she must know some history of dragons of wano. Perhaps she read that dragons at some time were in abundant in past but are now extinct. Therefore her reaction was that of shock and surprise to see a living dragon...that leads to my theory jurrasic park-like accident to wano thanks to vaga punk.
4- we know that there is atleast 1 samurai on punk hazard killing those pirates one by one on cold part of island..what is his purpose?...if we believe in wano = punk hazard theory then we can understand his reason for his presence on punk hazard...i fear he might be the last of samurais, a stubborn one , not ready to leave his once wano country and not ready to accept harsh reality. Or if there is group of samurais, remnants of that incidents then most probably like shandorians of skypiea they are trying to own their lost country and they are still not allowing outsiders....i think they are not evil guys, shandorians were also at first presented as antagonists....the dragon that we saw, is not killed by samurais because they are unable to do so. Or may be there is contineous war between samaurais and dragons. Samurai live in cold part of island and dragons on fire part.
5- What was the incident? How strong country like wano was defeated by WG?...i think after the start of pirate age it was getting difficult for wano to keep itself free from younkous. If we look at big mom , she is insane , she burn down countries for candy , kaidou is perhaps more evil than big mom. So the king of wano might have affiliated himself with WG. In exchange WG might have asked for establishing a lab on their country where vagapunk conducted his experiments. Samaurai might have rebelled against king for this and the resulting war might have destroying research lab.Another theory which can be put forward is that due to some reason samurai rebelled against king of wano. To counter powerful samurais the king might have sought help from WG in exchange for a treaty..samurais were defeated by WG, but they broke treaty and disposed of king and took over comple control of wano country and converted it into a WG facility. Then vagapunk experiments went wrong and nuclear explosion level incident occured....nuclear bombs on japan and wano country is japan of one piece world.
If you read some of the previous pages; all of these things you've listed were already addressed to.
Pretty much HIGHLY unlikely. i don't want to go back and bring them all up again but i recommend you to take some time and read at least 10 previous pages.this entire theory doesn't add up, or it goes against what we are literay being told or that its built upon assumptions that what we are being told is 50 year old info when we know that the Wano country existed at least 5 years ago. This info we got from Brook cannot be outdated.

In that flashback it was pointed out that it was ace himself that settign the hats he attempted to make on fire, not the land he was in. And how it seems the other side is too cold, so far it couldn't grow there either. so the fact Ace visited Wano sometime in the recent past .
Since I know a few freinds that will jump on the 'recent bit'= 2-5 years does qualify for recent. 2 years for the timeskip and we don't know when Ace went into the Grand line or reached New world, just know he left the home island 3 years before Luffy, who was on the seas for several months before timeskip.

What also came to my mind is that there is a ghost city in america where a fire burns underneath the earth's surface makin the floor so hot that almost no one wants to live there anymore. Experts say that this fire could burn hundreds of years from now on. IIRC that fire occured because of a gold mining plant.
On Punk Hazard even the sea burns so maybe Oda had his inspiration from that ghost city. If the ferric inside the island also is burning and vaporizing its an explanation why the Log Pose doesn't point its magnetic field there.

I don't understand why people even have difficulties with the island having no field - the log pose was set to the three islands that Smoker was talking about when leaving Fishman Island, so, since they haven't yet gotten it set again at one of these islands - it naturally still points to them.

Ace left windmill village 5 years ago. It takes few months to cross grandline and reach NW. He was member of WB pirates for 2 years before he was executed. So may be ace had befriended oars in the very initial days after he joined WB. Wano might have been destroyed shortly after that ace-oars-hat story. If we add 2 years of TS , then it becomes 4 years. My theory that wano being homeland of oars is surely weak ,… may be vagapunk was also trying to clone these ancient giants along with dragons.

Welcome back dude <3. I definitely agree about the skull and horns being some sort of symbols for giants and giant like creatures. Hadn't even spotted what Moriah said about "taking the island back to their land",sure it's a possibility!(yep could explain the lack of magnetic field!) I'm wary of the translations though so I would like to confirm what was said in that page before linking it to Punk Hazard and the 'Oars'.

Yeah I'm also gonna go ahead and say that the 'frozen land' is Punk Hazard(or at least part of it. We dn't know how big that island is and there is volcano erupting somewhere,on top of the heated and frozen part the island could include 'Oars'original land if mangasreader's translation is accurate.What bothers me with that is that if his original land had a magnetic field where is it?that's why I think it's just the 'frozen land'). Whatever Vegapunk was working on he defrosted the first half with that fire.
