@Phoenix:
Brennen left out the a big part of the what BB was talking about. He didn't just say I can hit a logia user. The full thing was…........
Blackbeard: It must've been a while since you were last punched...!/ You probably realized as soon as I grabbed you!!/...the other thing that my "darkness" can suck in/is the "devils power"!!!/Meaing while I'm touching his body,/the DF user can no longer use his abilities./Against all the DF user who overrate their own ability, I've gained an offensive ability who overrate their own ability, I've gained an offensive ability that can never be defended against!!
Ace: Only if I get caught.
So Blackbeard was talking about how his ability works like a DF seastone. That it nullifies a DF user by touching them. Not that it can just him to touch a logia user.
You know I think phoenix zoan is right. I just looked over my volume. It appears to me that Ace's shock came from actually being held onto as well as not being able to use his powers. Just the way Ace looks at his hands and evaluates himself after the attack gives me that reasoning. Which now really makes me wonder, even with Haki, could a Haki user old on to a Logia user in the way Black Beard did, I for one don't think it's possible. Though maybe one of you could give me a logical argument to convince me. But we may know for sure eventually.
As for the actual chapter I loved the heavy dialogue between Jinbe and Neptune.
I remember anti Jinbe joining arguments suggesting that "Jinbe could never work under someone like Luffy." Or how Jinbe will stay behind to protect the island. Both arguments completely shot down by Jinbe's words himself, not that I ever had any doubt. It's always nice to get clear confirmation.
But did anyone find it strange how Jinbe regarded FI's protection? As in if he could protect the island with his crew he would, but FI being protected by Big Mom was only a coincidence as his crew came first. It almost seemed out of character, but I guess there is more to him than I originally imagined.
