Däamn! Hody is ugly in the end. So the transformation still goes on with each pill he takes.
He looks now sumhow like I imagine Bigmom (or also Kaidou, I've got a certain imagination bout the last 2 Yonkou).
Hody now resembles a completely foolish villain without any grayscale character. He is pure dark!
Now Hyozo still has a chance if he pops another pill, he'll also transform a 2nd time. Maybe then he can kill Zoro's boredom…!
@Sheep
totally agree with you.
At least Arlong experienced evil humans, cause they did sneak attack his captain (and Arlong would have never laid a hand on his own men).
But Hody can't say that from his person.

I doubt there is anymore transformation. I think now we'll just see the down side of it.
-
Oh Brook, I love you even more now! Not only can his bodyparts detach rom his body, and he'll still survive (!), he also fights with my favourite element, ice! A nice counterpart to Sanji.
Aokiji vs Brook anyone?
:ninja:
-
It's racism in it's simplest form. Humans are an inferior race, so they deserve extermination.
You do realize that they only hate humans because humans hated them first right?
That page where Arlong asks the slave girl if she still hates fishmen and doesn't believe her is pretty much proof of that.
It seems like they got oppressed for so long that they decided to go with the Magneto approach.

He got a nice upgrade though. I'd watch a sitcom revolved around Hachi's love life, it's pretty entertaining.

Great chapter.
-
PS: How can people not understand the cycle of racism? This stuff goes on in real life you know…
Indeed. Oda portrayal of Hodi's reasons are spot on. It mirrors real life so well accurately that it's rather frightening, actually.
Also, the number of RobinxJinbe fanarts probably just rose dramatically…
-
You do realize that they only hate humans because humans hated them first right?
I know, circle of hatred, slavery, yada yada yada
It doesn't change the fact he hasn't suffered under humans. He flat out said "we have to bestow judgement upon humans. We've been chosen by the heavens…and granted power!"
Hody is the kind of person that would hate humans even If they had a peaceful past with them. He is better than them because he is a fishman, that's an integral point of his own life philosophy. Worst kind of racist there is. -
Great Chapter! I love Hody's reasons
And it seems that Hody is transforming even further to SSJ3
Wohahh people are using something I made as Avatar!! I'm flatered!!!
-
What is Tamashii btw?
-
Usopp-sama is as awesome as ever! Usopp, Brook, and Robin made my mind explode with their awesomeness this chapter.
So basically Hody is doing all this for no reason?
-
Thanks Aohige for the spoiler translations!
Chapter is amazing!
MVP: BROOK!!! -
@metteminne:
What is Tamashii btw?
If I were to make an educated guess? Souls.
Although I have no idea why the translator would chose to leave it untranslated.
-
I really like Brooke's new power. Although I thought that he would eventually use this sword, as we saw on one of the spreads. Guess not.
Looking at the colour of the sword and the crown on Usopp's head I'd say that it's nothing but 'decoration'. But good find buddy.
Now back to the chapter. It was pure gold as a whole but three certain parts (surprisingly the most intimating ones) impressed me the most.
- Robin won the chapter for me. First of all– she was drawn beautifully. I absolutely love her new style. And her new technique does indeed confirm the title of a deadly (and may I add sexy) assassin. Therefore I wasn't disappointed at all with her taking out her enemy that fast. I would've been really disappointed if she would've needed more time and effort to do so.
- Let's get to Brook next. Not only did that son of a gun get his head knocked off and kept talking but also got it back in the most badass way possible. And not enough with that– he's even so cool to use an icy sword. It's great to get that much intel on Brook's DF and how it really works.
- Last but not least we have captain Usopp. He needs three turns to defeat his opponent and I need three words to describe my thoughts. Bro is badass!
The rest of the chapter was, like I said, very nice and also informative. It didn't focus on the fights only and actually made some progress (which is always a good thing). Hody looks even more like a maniac now but looking at the latest reveals he is a crazy bastard. Time to kick some ass, Luffy.
By the way– was I the only one who had a different image in mind when seeing Robin clutching Hammond's neck? You know... her hands around his bent neck and its vibrant veins...

Zeo´s lines are hilarious again!
-
Sssoooo, how was Jinbe in anyway a lady killer? Really, that line just makes no sense.
.
maybe she likes the dominant types
-
-
-
I absulotely love how much more badass Brooke seems, It will be his first 1v1 win that we see. I also really love that Hody has no reason to hate the humans, That I did not expect. Glad to see another bat shit insane villain that just needs to be destroyed. Wonder if he'll die from the ES pills or if Luffy will save him or somethin.
-
So Hody's actually a genuine sociopath, cool
-
Zeo Carpet.
I'm assuming Aladdin rode one.
-
Wow and all of a sudden I go from not giving a crap about Hody to really liking the character.
How strange.
The fact that he has no sob story and is just keeping the ancient grudge alive out of sheer bloody-mindedness, feels eerily close to at lot of real-life stuff these days.
-
In my opinion Hody is only Blackbeard disguised!!
They are fucking same! XDDDD -
Phantomy Brooke = holyshityesyesYES X'3 he's like the Grim Reaper now o , o
BAMF Usopp = FFFFFFFF~ <3
'Empty' Hody = WUT p , p

ty for that :) Something figure out what Tamashi is!

I liked the way, the chapter started, the way you could feel we are making progress and learning new things about the SH's and just as it was time for the overall big picture to connect and make some decent progress as well, I was left disappointed yet again. Noah is falling, though it seems to haven't fallen even for a feet. We learn basically nothing new about Hody in fact I have got to the point I don't really care what his motive is, just to be done with all of this.
The scenes of random people reacting to the broadcast, has imo taken too much space again and in the end the cliffhanger didn't feel like one at all…I mean, did you guys feel some kind of rush, some kind of need to know what will happen next, at the very end...I certainly didn't and fail to say why this soulless brainless Hody is taking up so much time, because if the message is, that there is this huge gap between Merfolk and humans, I have understood that 10 chapters+ back and recent chapters added little to nothing to that.
So for me a good start to the chapter, but than it let me down.
Hopefull next week, is the day when we make a move and naturally I hope the rest of you or majority was thrilled about this chapter. -
ty for that :) Something figure out what Tamashi is!
Just use Google buddy. And as somebody already pointed out, 'tamashii' means as much as 'spirit or soul'.

Hody is the kind of person that would hate humans even If they had a peaceful past with them. He is better than them because he is a fishman, that's an integral point of his own life philosophy. Worst kind of racist there is.I see your a shallow reader. The reason he is like this is because of the past relationships Fishmen had with humans. The fact humans take them for slaves, and treat them as second hand garbage. That hatred and burden has been passed down for years, Hodi believe he is the one to carry out their revenge. You can call it "manifest destiny" with a burden. Also, I want call him a raciest since the to are different species. Fishmen are naturally the superior species so I understand why he look down on humans. The only problem is with all the steroids he takes the more strambled his mind become….
-
@Cyan:
Gedatsu's secretly manipulating the events on Fishman Island from behind the scenes.
No, it's Tsukishima.
-
So damn cool.
Robin's DF is even more overpowered now, Brook finally got his theme translated into a fighting ability and Usopp… simply outstanding.
"In 3 seconds…you will be sniped"
-
inb4 …...................
-
I've probably liked Chopper's post time skip upgrades the most so far, but Brooke's new techniques have been the most surprising for me. In a good way, though. I expected some new sword moves and of course more music themed attacks, but I didn't expect progress in his DF until I saw that spirit form back at the palace. Maybe some of you did, whatever, but I am glad to get some insight into how his body works. I've always had some questions about how exactly he could be hurt or killed. It is very "skeleton" of him to be able to lose his head with no problem lol.
Count me among the people who ilke the new Hodi development. Not everybody has to have a sad past.
Good chapter.
-
Holy crap. That psychotic look on Hody's face is scary…...
-
Damn Robin is still a bad ass. But still I am kinda dissapointed we didn't get to see her fight a bigger boss. But the time will come for this as well. Growing on stuff herself and being able to make split herself into two indepdant seeming places is really. However I am still really hoping we will get to see her use her ability to transform herself into a giant. Now that would be really awesome
-
So Hody is fueled by insanity. Works better than "half-human" or any of the other crazy theories I've heard.
This is Eneru level of crazy here. -
So Hody is fueled by insanity. Works better than "half-human" or any of the other crazy theories I've heard.
This is Eneru level of crazy here.Indeed, now if Oda could let the arc finally fall down and finish the battles with decent pacing this arc would be a lot more to my liking. I don't know why, but the pacing seemed to be really off the last 40 chapters or so.
-
Uhh.. no, that's not what he's doing.
He's pissed off that the fishmen want to live with Humans, humans who've done them dirty for centuries. Though he's never experienced it, he was raised on that hatred and doesn't want to forget what the humans have done to his people.
Hence forth, to justify his actions to himself, he completely disregards even the slightest possibility that all humans aren't evil, because that's how he was raised.
He's not thinking for himself anymore, he's fueled by other people's hatred and desire for revenge. Thus, he's empty and insane.
Edit: That Usopp page.. I exploded.
PS: How can people not understand the cycle of racism? This stuff goes on in real life you know…
hody is a out and out racist he dosent resent the humans for what they have done, he believes the shoe should be on the foot and the fishmen should be the dominant force. -

You know, I really don't want to get into this again with you, but when you insult me with being shallow, I kind of feel obligated to answer you.
Look, there is one thing that I'm 100% certain with, and that is, even if the whole circle of hatred thing wasn't in the manga, Hody would be by no means tolerable. It's his character, the very way he is. While the whole slavery issue gave him an idea what he wants to do in the future and how what goals he has, he's still rotten and evil. And I'm going to ignore the racism thing here and just focus on how he treats his own people.
We saw him hanging around with Zeo, Daruma and the others when they were fairly young. He spend time with these guys. They grew up together. They take life-threatening pills just so that he succeeds. In a manga like One Piece, where friendship is extremely important, this is one of the most heinous acts you can do. Oda always does that when he wants to introduce someone to us that is completely ruthless. Crocodile was the same, punishing his partners with death and being aware of the fact that his own loyal subordinates might get caught in the explosion as well. Enel is the same, abandoning his priests. But what makes them tolerable (not redeemable, but just not as bad) is that we knew from the beginning that these guys were just tools to them. They were hired people (the agents) or zealots (the priests), no friends of crocodile or Enel. Whatever you are, racist, mass killer, corrupt king or complete maniac, being like this with your friends in one of the lowest things.
Oh, btw, just because fishmen are superior to humans doesn't justify this thinking. All life is equal, thinking otherwise makes you a horrible person.
btw, could you spell check you posts? Sometimes I have no idea what you are talking about.
You may answer this post, but I'm not going to answer, since my opinion on Hody became unchangeable with this chapter. For me, he's the most evil villain this series has. -
The mangastream translation is now out.

But he surely is the villian who can be found mostly irl which is kind of scary really
-
Does this mean Ussop's the Joesph Joestar of One Piece? I certainly hope so.
-
Does this mean my hopes of Brook using Scratchmen Apoo's music attacks are out of the question?
The answer is NO! ApooXBrook 4ever!!!!
Also, kinda liked the mangastream translation at the end "They're just empty opponents, lacking any substance at all!". Pretty accurate description alright…
-
Ooh amazing chapter. Everything moved quicker than I expected.
It seems there's only a couple more chapters of SH fighting left, maybe even one.
The Hody reveal was perfect, I'm disappointed that all hopes of him joining are gone, but it makes him a much better villain. I like it when our theories are wrong, and Oda pulls something slightly unexpected but still fitting.
Robin's fight was as quick as I expected, but that line about Jinbe seemed really weird. Personality change from Robin perhaps?
-

hody is a out and out racist he dosent resent the humans for what they have done, he believes the shoe should be on the foot and the fishmen should be the dominant force.
Because that's how he was raised, the people who were around instilled that hatred in him. Where did that hatred come from? Oppression of the fishmen race.
Whether or not he'd still be a racist or not if they weren't oppressed is debatable. However, from Fukaboshi's words, he implies that it's the history of the fishmen race that transformed Hodi into the monster he is.
We saw him hanging around with Zeo, Daruma and the others when they were fairly young. He spend time with these guys. They grew up together. They take life-threatening pills just so that he succeeds. I don't feel Hodi is treating his homies poorly, he is risking his life just as much as they are risking theirs. It seems pretty equal to me.
They all are popping pills, knowing full well the consequences.
And the worst one piece villain? That's a stretch, but I can't argue opinions.
-
Has anyone notice that this arc is 40 chapters long?

For me, he's the most evil villain this series has.You do not have to respond back to this post, but you completely avoided this argument. The reason why he is the way he is. Not about how evil is. I believed I adressed this with you before. He is unique in the OP world because he is the true definition of "AntiLuffy." I am not defending his actions, but bringing reasons why he is pure evil to light. Stating you were a shallow reader was wrong. I apologize if i offended you, but you completely ignored the fundation of what made Hody Jones what he is. Also, I believe most of his recent actions are because of the drugs (rather hope) because if he is willing to kill his friends to kill the SHP than he is on another level of low….
-
I doubt Hody's gonna get his redemption any time soon.
-
Nothing? NOTHING IS SCARIER THAN ANYTHING! Also go Brook.
I love this chapter. It got funny, awesomeness and shock crammed into 18 pages. What more could I ask for? :)Hey, with Hody I think Oda just covered the 4 types of evil! :D
Demonic, instrumental, idealistic and dumb. Nice!
