I dont see how VDD can be any sort of threat Luffy needs to deal with. His power is pretty weak when you compare it to Luffy's new speed/strength. Right now Oda has me convinced Luffy can 1 hit KO ANYONE, at least id like to keep believing that.

You know there's a ship that's half the size of Fishman Island speeding towards Shirahoshi, yes? And you understand that this is pretty much the equivalent of the Straw Hats starting at East Blue.

Pretty good chapter, i dont see the strawhats having any problem with the current fodder on the island. the fishmen are on their side rooting them on and jinbe has a high possiblity of joining but oda does pull unexpected stunts so we will see. Im guessin that a yonkou or someone from the Marine Gov. will interfere after Hodi and VDD gang is done being pummeled.

I definitely hope so. Thought as much as soon as it was revealed that it is this year, and the letter from the Tenryubito was introduced. Normally, Oda continues with such little story bits. I'd love to see it happen.

I would indeed love for Neptune to go to the reverie at the end of this arc, than starting a mini-arc which shows a bit about how the world is now. New Fleet-Admiral, new Admirals (?), Buggy as Shichibukai, etc. etc. etc. Just a couple of new revelations, than continuing with the SH's.

I'm really glad One Piece's second half isn't going the way of … that other manga. This is great. Might be an arc to turn out to be relatively shorter than one would expect.
I can't stop thinking about how Van Der Decken and Caribou will play into this.

It doesn't make that much of a difference since Zoro clearly stated he looks up to Luffy as his captain, follows him and thinks for him to keep his dignity. And threw away his pride and bowed to Mihawk. Well, sacrificied his life for him too.

I see no reason for any Shichibukai to come this chapter. I don't think the Straw Hats will encounter any so soon. They need to have an adventure in the New World first. Besides, there are now a couple of new Shichibukai (and heck, Kuma is going to be drastically changed so he won't be the same) and I believe that they will be revealed in due time, much like how we were in the dark about the identities of all the Shichibukai during the first part of the Grand Line.

Luffy would be able to do anything… that Oda decides !
But for the sake of the story, no he should not be able to beat each and every Admiral by now. He would already have a hard time fighting Kuma or Dofla. -
And I believe now that luffy's powers are on par with the Admirals. He should be able to defeat them one by one now.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves, he likely still has some ways to go before he's at that level.

I think Luffy will be able to hold his own against the Admirals. I'm not sure he should be able to defeat them yet…..To soon...It takes away from the build up....Why have him reach his full strength during the time skip.

The best case you could make for the present day luffy is that he'd be somewhat bothersome to kill, even for an admiral.

Other than that although it is unlikely, we might see a Shichibukai because World Government has been informed about Strawhats and they may have wanted to eliminate them before they cause a havoc.
This or that, I think, and it might be obvious, we will have a showdown with one of the Big Guns earlier than expected. If not in this arc's end, on start of the other. After all the new marine base is there, on the otherside of the Red Line. -

Whitebeard's strength is also not necessarily representative of the remaining Emperor's strengths. There's a reason he was the world's strongest man, and the whole "Emperors are stalemated, they can't beat each other" idea is pretty much a fan invention AFAIK. There are now 3 Emperors, the greatest pirates, and 3 Admirals, the greatest Marines, left in the world, the only person who one could be absolutely sure stood above them all dead and gone… coincidence? Who knows.

I think it's difficult to judge even now. We knew that WB was regarded as the strongest man in the world. However, we also learn that he was old and sick, and shouldn't have been fighting in the war. Now, let's add to that he was stabbed through the chest before he started fighting with any of the Admirals. WB was definitely fighting at a disadvantage, regardless of his status. Additionally, he was fighting multiple people at once, not just an admiral, but the entire marine army. -
