Sounds a lot like the people who still find Naruto enjoyable are under some kind of Sharingan genjutsu.
Well damn, I still like Naruto so does that mean I'm under genjutsu?
Moon's Eye Plan.
That depends on your definition of "like".
Afterall I "like" reading stuff like Naruto and Bleach, but it certainly isn't because they're quality manga.

Hmm…I'm middle of the raod when it comes to Naruto.
I still ike it and I'm still interested in the story. It's definitely got it's flaws in Part II, while Part I was excellent.
There are a lot of manga I like better, but I don't think it's horrible or just "better than other horrible manga". I don't think it's a masterpiece manga like One Piece, Fullmetal Alchemist, or 20th Century Boys. It's not great like Hunter x Hunter. I'd say it's better than mediocre though. I'd say Naruto is good with moments of greatness and 27 volumes of being excellent. I like the series....don't love it or hate it.
-
With Naruto i'm more disappointed for the fact that kishi didnt expand/show the world he created (other villages, landmarks, basicaly other things that are outside of konoha), too much focus on Konoha i think ,of course im also disappointed with panel time he gave the other ninjas,i feel that even Tenten had more panel time(in the war) then Rock lee (even if i like tenten, unfortunately weapons that arent magical are mere decorations in naruto universe).
I just hope Sasuke redemption will be quick so forget it the second i read it.
-
My biggest problem with Naruto (maybe, honestly there are so many things wrong with part two Naruto) is that Kishimoto screwed up the themes he created in Part One.
"Hard Work Conquers All!" "Screw Destiny!" Naruto is now literally a Child of Destiny and Rock Lee has never honestly won a fight. So Yeah.
"Revenge is Pain!" Sasuke has a revengegasm when he kills Danzo instead of feeling empty inside which is how he should have. So Yeah.
I know that might not seem like the biggest problem but in general for a work of fiction to have themes, they need to be executed well and not be completely contradicted later on. Even if Kishimoto's themes were very simple they were executed well with moments like Naruto vs Neji so it's really sad to see them stomped on in part two.
And I don't know if that's my biggest flaw with the series. There's also the incredible underutilization of the secondary characters, many of whom are much more interesting than the protagonists. The top three protagonists have been acting like complete idiots throughout the series (seriously we pretty much all agree we hate Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura. It's almost impossible to like a series when you hate the protagonists.) Ignoring Hinata for more than 100 chapters and 2 years when she almost died really rubbed me the wrong way. The art has gone incredibly downhill, as can be seen by this "war". The treatment of women in the series which was already pretty bad to begin with pretty much got worse (I don't know how that's even possible.) Fights which were once interesting and exciting back in part one are now more often than not only resolved through deus ex's and asspulls. Killer Bee and Raikage are probably the only good characters introduced after the timeskip (and they're out of at least two dozen, which is pretty bad honestly).
And honestly I could go on about the problems of the series after the timeskip all day I'm just hitting the major nails. Point is the series has been a mess since the timeskip and that's a shame because before the timeskip it was actually really good and pretty much deserved it's popularity. But I think what I've said here has already been said somewhere else, I'm probably repeating myself a bit by this point. I guess I'm just hoping that some manga newbie who's thinking about reading Naruto will stumble across these posts and take all of these flaws into account. If people don't hate Naruto then that's fine by me I will never say that Naruto was always a bad series, it was one of my favorites when I started reading manga.
Oh yeah. And lame messages of pacifism spouted out by Jesus Naruto. What the Hell!
-
@Kareem:
"Revenge is Pain!" Sasuke has a revengegasm when he kills Danzo instead of feeling empty inside which is how he should have. So Yeah.
While Sasuke is being revenge crazy, and his logic is nuts, I actually thought that was the point. Sasuke got his revenge, but he wasn't satisfied, and he was still angry, so he turns his anger towards the people "at fault for making him go on his revenge quest".
"If they never made my brother do that, I wouldn't have had to kill him, it's their fault. Not mine. Yeah, that's it! I'll kill them all"
However, it's hard to say what he would've done if he just thought his brother was a mass murderer.
-
as for me, im just looking for a means to an end. im usually a person who sticks with a tale until the end, regardless of the flaws that are being presented. (which is all the time lately)
its in no way differentiating itself from the group, maybe during part one it was.
anyways the end is definitely near, thank goodness. i think one thing we can all agree on here is that naruto has long outstayed his welcome.

I agree with this 100%. At this point it's not much of a joy to read. It feels like…just stick with it. It has to be nearly done. But I dunno...For the people that go ballistic over it, I think it's just because it's fanfiction fodder at this point.

I hate fish, so I must hate Naruto also!

What's NotNaruto's fingers doing!?That's gotta be the funniest thing I've seen today. And I just watched the Cowboy Andy episodes of Cowboy Bebop so that's saying something.

Not as sick as a Banjo Kazooie one made me once.
What the hell was Jesus doing in the temple of the great Jiggywiggy anyway? -
Hello Kishi. -
That depends on your definition of "like".
Afterall I "like" reading stuff like Naruto and Bleach, but it certainly isn't because they're quality manga.
When I say "like" I mean I'm still interested in the overall development of the story (all the way to the end), and I'm particularly still interested in how the story will end exactly. Since I still hold some interest in the story and bother to remember little things about the characters, arcs, conversations, powers, flashbacks, etc… I can't say I dislike 'Naruto'. I'm honestly still invested in the storyline. Though, a lot of people would say "we all know what's going to happen in the end" I still would like to see how Kishi goes about doing it. Also, there may be more than we're expecting and actually most likely that is the case.
I'm definitely not saying it's a quality manga just because I like it. I suppose it just really hooked me at the beginning and though the quality has degraded so much what has never left me is the desire to see Naruto become Hokage and "save" Sasuke. Plus, I wonder if Kishi will ever do anything as important with the side characters again (including Sakura) and that 1 person named Hinata.

"THE NARUTO & BATMAN & IRONMAN"

This is not the thread for this, so I'll start with an apology.
@Kareem:
So once more, take it from the top: Naruto Sucks! Read Toriko, Eyeshield 21, Berserk and Hunter x Hunter instead you goddamn fanboys!
@Kareem: If you haven't yet done so yet go read Slam Dunk. It's one of the best shonen ever.
& to make this post relevant to the thread; I shall confess that I stopped reading Naruto since he & KB went to the war (and KB became an official idiot/got converted), I was never a real fan of naruto so it was quite easy to quit I guess. Now I just come here for the giggles every now and then

I can agree with this. I suppose by that definition I "like" Naruto as well, considering I'm sticking around to see how it ends too.

i think to some extent, regardless of how much we hate naruto, we are all somewhat interested to see how it ends.
-
i, too, am genuinely interested in seeing where this train stops, but
who the fuck is this "hinata" character people keep talking about
she's that one from the chunin exam with the bells and needles, yeah? shikamaru beat her; what of it
-
I just read the chapter.
Nagato: Hey man, you look different!
Naruto: Oh, I took control of the 9 tails and this is his chakra all over me. No biggie.
Nagato: No dude, I meant your face.Aaaand…Nagato being comletely out of character...
-
One thing I don't understand is why Nagato cares so much for Itachi's past. It just seems out of character because when he was alive, he was more objective oriented than caring about personal feelings. But in this chapter, Negato is like "oh Itachi, what happened to you in the past" Does not seem like a thing the real Nagato would say.

Did you ever consider that he was just curious? I mean only the 2 advisors, Danzo, the 3rd, being the ones who ordered Itachi to do it, and Madara knew the truth about Itachi.
-
Play-by-play time (boy was I late):
[hide]
Nagato: You've got a purdy face.
Aaaaaand we're off ladies and gentlemen!
Itachi: I never knew you'd subjugate the nine tails this soon.
Nobody in their right mind did. Kishi is not part of that crowd.
Naruto: I'd like to thank you two for my Academy Award.
WTF?
Itachi: barfs fire on Naruto
In Kishi's defense, I'm probably one of the few who saw it that way.
Itachi: What happened to Sasuke.
His shock at finding out the truth was understandable.
Fight and dialogue happens, but it's actually okay and maybe even decent
Itachi: I'm counting on you to take care of Sasuke.
With a brick and cement shoes if Itachi still got his brains intact.
Pain: Does a joke
Heh. Made me smirk.
Bee and Itachi fight
You know, maybe it might be because I'm sleep deprived, but this chapter's starting to look decent. There's not too much to make fun of.
Crow comes back in the most unflattering way possible
There's the comic I love to hate.
Overall….not half bad.[/hide] -
Nagato is actually a fun and silly guy when he doesn't feel the need to kill everyone.
-
-
-
10 cents Kishi wanted to leave fans wondering why the crow has another variation of the sharingan.
-
I've gotta be honest with you. At first the crow coming out actually looked like the legs of a frog. As if Naruto's mouth was giving birth. To a frog. Considering this is Naruto (both the character and the series) nothing would really surprise me.
-

Remember, he HAS a frog inside. The seal frog.
-
How much shit is in Naruto? Now I'm imagining all the spirits, summons, etc. inside Naruto just constantly partying in the back of his mind. Also, I'm getting the image of the Kyuubi singing Kareoke at these parties
-
Nothing unusual.
!
-
I guess Naruto's body is home to many types of people and things.
-
So I stopped following this thread for a bit due to ponies and a friend of mine mentioned Naruto did something that was supposed to kill him but didn't and that stacking blocks had taught him to do so.
Is my friend lying to me or did this happen?

Yes, more or less.

He hyperventilated over his boyfriend Sasuke, go figure.
-
So, next chapter Naruto ate some black shit and got himself a sharingan like his boyfriend? I mean, you know, gotta catch'em all…
-
@The:
Yes, more or less.
Okay, thanks
@LuffyWinner:He hyperventilated over his boyfriend Sasuke, go figure.
I was around for that, and given what's been said on this page, he'll have to explain what his brother's crow is doing in his mouth.

@Cyan:
The best part about the "zombie advice" is that no one actually follows it.
"look i'm a close range taijutsu specialist so use ranged attacks to attack WHAT THE FUCK WHY ARE YOU MOVING CLOSE TO ME"
My personal favourite was a few weeks ago
Mummykage: be it one or many, numbers are useless against me
Ninja 1: Wow, you hear that?
Ninja 2: Yeah. Our opponents are former kages after all. Way out of our league
Ninja 1: I sure am glad we're not doing something monumentally inane, like storming towards them in a massive charge
Ninja 2: Naw. We are ninjas after all. I'm sure our superiors have thought of a clever strategy.
Ninja 1: We do have unique personal abilities after all, I'm sure a good tactician could think of several -
Tsuchikage: CHAAAAAAAARRRRRRRGEEEEEE!!!
Ninja 1: YEEEEEEHAAAAAW
Ninja 2: FOR GLOOORYYYYGreatest war ever.
-
You just reminded me that this series is suppose to be about ninjas.
-
Next Naruto chapter: The crow in question spews another crow from it's mouth, and then that crow spews another crew from it's mouth, and then another and then another, until 25 crows later, an egg emerges from the latest crow, and inside the egg is a secret to take down the sharingan and be protected from all it's tricks and perks.

That actually sounds incredibly lame

Lame outcome for a lame manga.

Hey, I know a good drinking game.
Every time Sasuke's name is mentioned next chapter, take a shot. That's a long shot. think anyone would last long?
-
Someone is about to be wasted, Kishi can't go past one chapter without Sasuke's name (Unless it was another character's backstory)
-
Hey, I know a good drinking game.
Every time Sasuke's name is mentioned next chapter, take a shot.Maybe too much. I'll take a hit every time Sasuke's name comes up though.

Then you'll definitely get stoned.
