For anyone whose ever doubted that Fox is really a grotesque manufactured bias mouth piece of absolutely zero worth, let this wonderfully apolitical shitstorm show the way.
-
I have a very limited knowledge of Fox News and this whole hacking scandal situation in general, but what they're pretty much saying is just because this Murdoch guy apologised and people were fired at NOTW, we're meant to just forgive and forget and move on from the whole thing. Um, okay.
-
"We should move on and deal with the important topics of the day"
…
"Straight ahead Casey Anthony ..."So that's the important topic we should move on to, LOL!
-
Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Paul Stephenson resigns following the phone hacking scandal.
Another victim of the scandal steps down.

It's sorta so so ridiculous it's funny how they go on to imply Murdoch and co are the VICTIMS of media.
The reason the media keeps bringing it up is because a new victim of the hacking seems to emerge each week. And I mean it's disgusting; bereaved families ( of children, deceased soldiers, apparently families of 7/7 bombings) people just after heart attacks to name a few.

Fox News is Murdoch's property, his biggest in the US in terms of news. Their handling of this shows how manufactured and scripted they are by their boss.
And yeah lol, of course, move on! No need to suspect this incredibly unscrupulous pile of stinking cancerous right wing tinged yellow journalism has any other similar scandals and practices in any of it's many wings!
No sir! -
yeah, yeah, but….... none of that is news.
We all knew FOX is a redneck tabloid network worth absolute zero credibility, and that Murdoch is a grade-A scumbag.
We knew this for years. So these "new developments" add nothing, really.
-
For those who follow the the sports scene(like me, I'm a huge sports fan) Japan beat the US in female world soccer cup.
I think this is an emotional gift, that I think Japan deserves after the quake
Most here don't give a fuck, but I think its pretty nice. -
So Sarah Palin uses a personal email account for government business to get around having to use her official governor's account, some college kid figures out her ridiculously easy to guess and gets into said account, and he's a borderline terrorist hacker that ought to be locked up for years. Notwithstanding the fact that he didn't actually hack anything, the guy is still a clearly a terrorist.
Now, these people who work for Fox News' parent company hack into private phones of celebrities and politicians, illegally access private medical records, and, in one case, actively impede a police investigation by deleting messages from the inbox of a kid that disappeared, but that, all that, it's a nonstory and it's not something that we're going to dignify by covering. And, hey, even if it was a story, which it isn't, he still apologized, right? Right? Now, are you going to stand there and let the liberal media persecute a poor, misunderstood billionaire like Rupert Murdoch or are you on the side of the babykilling liberals? Hey, look, there! Something shiny! Pay attention to that, damnit!

Them getting toppled possibly.
I don't think you realize that Fox isn't just stupid, it's posing and popularity has elevated it above the tabloid status it deserves and straight into being this giant cancerous ooze on American discourse misinforming, panicking, and adding foam to the lips of lots and lots and lots of Americans. It has a LOT of power. -

Most here don't give a fuck, but I think its pretty nice.As one of quite a few people on here following the WWC, I think I could speak for them by saying that though we had our home countries to cheer for, Japan was definitely a sentimental favorite. Also helped that Japan beat three powerhouses in women's soccer (Germany, Sweden and the U.S.) when everyone was saying that they couldn't.
Also, this was without a doubt one of the best soccer game male or female squads this year.
-
There's a woman's World Cup? Well damn I need to get on with watching that.

Well, it's over now. But there will be another competition next year during the Olympic Games.

Chrissie is in Greece atm, not Cyprus, so don't worry guys ;)
Actually the explossion happened the day I returned (the morning after I returned to be more exact). Let me give you guys more info that my brother got from a Marine soldier from the base that exploded when he went to see him at the Hospital: Mini exsplossions started at 3AM. The superiors wouldn't let the soldiers leave but the highest officer there ordered them out just in time at the end. Big explossion happened at 6 AM. There were mini fires bursting out through the week but the government ignored the reports and requests of Andreas Ioannides to have the dangerous material removed.
That officer responsible for the base and who saved the lives of a lot of Marines, was a person my father knew. The two marines that passed away (the twin brothers) were friends of the brother of my sister-in-law. And he was actually five minutes away from there, in another army base and boy, did they feel the explossion. Also to clear it up I live in Limassol. It's quite close to Mari, and most areas over here have no power for most of the time. Mine wasn't affected surprisingly, though areas seconds away have been affected rather badly. Let's see… what else... Ah! The current government, is basically fully responsible for this mess because these assholes ignored the pleads of Andreas Ioannides to destroy/secure/do something other than let the explossives exposed like that in the hot sun for ages. But. They won't take responsibility. Naturally. People keep protesting all over the country. That jackass of a president we have, made a speech and we didn't even hear a 'sorry' in there. God, I always disliked this guy but now I just plain hate him. Hope he goes down. -
In regards to the Fox News vid, it's not too surprising that Fox would be confused about the World news scandal.
None of their employee's know of the concept of "journalistic integrity" so why would they get it now?
Surprised they use the pentagon as a segue way into a rant about how inept the Dems are. -
No fucking way.
Not even possible. -
Christ .

"Look Rupert APOLOGIZED for the hit, lay off LAMEstream media!"
-
Rupert's too curmudgeony to apologize. He has spokesmen for that.
And that really sucks, I hear he had just finished up rehab a year or two ago. Hope it wasn't something related to that.

Wow. Also add in the fact that in this day and age blood banks can test for HIV/AIDS and other diseases before accepting donations, they still have a right to not accept blood from gay people.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-south-asia-14181938
Oh mercy!
The first is shocking, but not surprising. No one builds up a bubble of power like that without getting more desperate to maintain it. It's only going to get worse from here on out I'm afraid, until someone curb stomps them back.
The other two…..fuck man.
I just hope that's not a reassuring lie about the warheads, and that no one could just make a detonation device for them as a substitute.
EDIT: So, how long before the ruling class drops all pretense of peace and just starts shooting everyone? If they're anything like drug cartels or that ruling class in El Salvador before their civil war, or even like those union busting assholes in the early 1900s, the moment we finally get to touch their stolen money is when they'll finally let loose the dogs of war (or at least try to--why else are encouraging the stupid to get the arms ready and get them super scared of having them taken?) -

Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck Fuck
My opinion:
This is very saddening. I personally dislike the idea of electronic "books" like the Kindle or Nook. I love just BEING in bookstores, I like the tactile books that you hold, the creasing of the pages, including their aroma, as well as wandering through bookstores, which seem a lot like museums to me. Fewer choices are not a good thing, and the writers will probably suffer with fewer options to publish their works, as will people in general. The magazine racks alone, with dozens of publications unavailable elsewhere, were interesting and educational. That also impacts those who advertise in magazines, their clients, photographers, etc.
As one person said:
"The fact that bookstores will go the way of the record store, leaving potential customers without the experience of stumbling upon a book and making an impulse purchase" …this is a sad reality of today's world. I hope the physical copy book survives because those E-Book's are just not the same. There really aren't going to be places left to browse through old and new music or books. You just can't get that experience online."
This really makes my heart cry.
-
This is what happened between Circuit City and Best Buy, two very similar stores, bad economy, only one makes it out the other side.
Evidently Barnes & Noble will outlive Borders.
-
If vinyl can make some sort of a comeback in this day and age I'm sure books can survive.

Cenk provides some additional info on the reporter's death:
While this is still scary, this could either be very good or very bad for Fox News depending on what kind of shitstorm this produces.
The Good:
Someone working for Murdoch kills him before he can get any further information out, and they succeed in getting people to overall not give a crap.
….That's about it.
The Bad:
Murdoch and the like specialize in throwing someone under the bus, to the dogs, eviscerating them and calling them names legally.
That reporter pissed off a lot of cops, and I can imagine more than one person at Newscorp is looking at this and thinking "What fucking asshole did that?!"
I don't want to profit off of someone's death (I'd rather he lived), but now that it's already done someone might as well milk it to lay as much hurt on him as possible.
Hell, even the US might benefit in the end if during the course of investigating him they uncover even MORE stuff.
Dear Forces of Good,
Hit him hard and shake him down for everything he's got.

Someone hit Murdoch with a cream pie or something during today's hearings? lol?

Eh, it's not a shoe, but I give it an A for effort.

Did we get news on how Moto GP racers refuse to go to Japan because they're afraid they'll catch radiation poisoning 130 km from the Power Plant, and say that not even a study that would prove it's safe would change their minds ?
Yeah, nice way to support these people and the immense hardships they had to go through so they could organise this race in time, assholes :getlost:

Oh this is gold
"I think if we can help Japan in another way we will, but I think going there is not real support."
Yeah, I mean, allowing these guys to actualy have a race like any other place in the whole world after they spent months in preparations for it, that's not real support guys. DOH
GET THE FUCK OUT :getlost:

interesting. In other news we might see hacked emails today (lulzsec has them).
-
-
@No:
What ?
Sun's web servers were hacked today, their website ran a story of Murdoch being dead. Hackers (named lulzsec - they guys who hacked pbs, sony, CIA, senate and countless ealier) released emails and passwords of top brass (including former chief executive Rebekah Brooks). They have nearly all emails of sun and there are signs that they will release all those emails today.
-
The new media/old media war just got serious.
-
Jesus Fox News is fucking ridiculous but at the same time they know how to spin shit around
-
I think that was posted earlier but it's no less unbelievable.
-
Just watched The O'Reilly Factor on Fox News, they did a whole segment on the hacking scandal situation, don't recall them criticizing Murdoch or News Corp at all, pretty much told us all to lay off them and that we're being too harsh on them. Sure.
-
You can't be too harsh on people who hacked into a missing girls phone, listened to her messages, and then proceeded to delete them as the inbox filled up, giving the parents false hope that their daughter was still alive, all for the sake of a story.
It's utterly despicable.

T-that's horrible…....they did that? I want to puke.

But we all know the real reason behind that. O'Reilly just wants to focus on Casey Anthony some more.
-
But we all know the real reason behind that. O'Reilly just wants to focus on Casey Anthony some more.
What's America's general view on that? Obviously Fox isn't the best indicator when it comes to the publics opinion but they seem to think that she did it, not sure what to think really.
-
My dad was watching a special about the Casey Anthony case on Investigation Discovery the other day. It's all over the fucking place.
-
The general view is that she did it, I guess. But everyone's too tired of it to care. Except for Fox, who really needs anything to delve away from the Murdoch stuff. Seriously, though, they should condemn this. If the Wall Street Journal can condemn News of the World, then Fox shouldn't be afraid to do so. I think the producers are too afraid of what Murdoch could do if they grew a pair.
-
As is often the case, some of the best work on the hacking scandal and Fox News that I've seen so far was on the Daily Show as Stewart simply plays a bunch of clips of them airily dismissing this as a nonstory that is purely motivated by political ideology and then showing a bunch of clips of Fox's talking heads resoundingly condemning NPR for one of the latter's executives privately saying that he thought Teabaggers were making jackasses of themselves.
In one scenario, which actual illegal activities are performed and their boss is involved, it's a case where there are a few bad apples in a massive corporate empire while the latter, which basically amounted to taping a private conversation under false pretenses, indicates something endemic to the system of an organization that they call Un-American on a regular basis anyway.
If the British newspapers in question were owned by, say, NBC Universal or Time Warner, Fox would be on the story 24/7 and would be constantly demanding massive investigations by every possible government organization.

Another one bites the dust…Reads article about another bad person being taken down
For Christmas, I'm looking forward to Rupert Murdoch being taken down for good and America being covered in a giant rainbow. -
Can someone help me find a link to the UN's most wanted. Most of the lists I found are a bit dated, still listing Bin Laden and stuff. In fact quite a few of the top tens I saw had over half of their list captured in the past year or so.
Good news indeed.

What the fuck kind of lib, progressive president says 'You progressives?'
Not to mention that conference where when confronted about change, he whined 'No one gets everything they want.'
To which Republicans responded 'Yeah! He didn't shine our shoes while we took what we wanted!'
Fucking weak man.
