Lol, that doesn't change the fact that the main character was a Gary-stu, even if he did have some character development; he still was a gary-stu.
He wasn't unlikeable in the sense that he was a jerk, he was unlikeable in the sense that he was way too fucking perfect and got everything his way.
So true. I wondered why those uptight space marines didn't confiscate his shit or punish him after his first stunt. Sympathy for being crippled? I dunno. Then agian, all those that worked in the "Earth-side" station were shallow empty shells that lacked any character.
The scenes in at the main bridge where everyone was typing on these high tech computers sorta insulted my fascination/intelligence with science fiction too. It felt like there was no purpose rather than showing people pushing keys on shiny toys .
