Neptune: He really did it…!!
FLASHBACK to a scene
Neptune: You say you'll free the slaves!?
Tiger: I can't stand it...! Living the life of slave... is a living hell, is it not!?
Even now, they are suffering horrible inhumane acts on them... That's why I've decided!!

Neptune: What exactly did you see in your last journey...!?
Tiger: I saw "Human"!!
(or "humanity", it'd go better with English)
Otohime cries....
FLASHBACK IN THE FLASHBACK ENDS, time returns to after Tiger's assault on Mariejois
Neptune: Fishman Island's position in the world has gotten even worse... We won't be able to attend the "Reverie" for a while...
Otohime: But it was impossible to stop him on that day... The voices I heard from his heart were... screaming in pain
Neptune: !?[/hide]
There you go. Now you see how it makes perfect sense, and no confusion in timeline.
In retrospect, being master of CoO, it seems the Queen sensed Tiger's pain he spent in life of slavery.
She kept it to herself though, I'm sure, to honor Tiger's will.
Thanks Aohige, you squashed one of the more annoying arguments considering how many people wanted to blast the author for Mangastream's mistake. Most of us were sufficiently confused, and it's nice to see it cleared up now.
@ultimateclima:
That's why stretching out the chapters can be a good thing. It's not about "he was only shown for X amount of chapters". It's about giving panels where the readers can empathize with the characters.
And I think the main reason it's like this is that Oda's trying to cover multiple events at once and still go at a brisk pace.
I don't like to harp on the pacing of a flashback too much until I've seen it all to get the proper context. However, now that Tiger is dead I find myself wishing that Oda had padded another chapter into his portion of the flashback. More specifically, the 3 year skip before meeting Koala could have been fleshed out a bit for more characterization. Minor complaint, though, which may even be nixed by the end of the arc.
@MarcelloF:
How did the Marines get to the island so quickly? :wassat:
It was a trap they set up. I think people are making the assumption that Koala's village are solely responsible for selling Tiger out when I don't see it that way. I figure that the people the Sun Pirates bought the eternal pose from probably alerted the Marines. The villagers may have been forced to do what they did in order to keep Koala from being recaptured.
@thewonderer:
So FT did climb the red line…. I wonder how he was was enslaved in the first place, not too important i guess but i really want to know how he did it. Just really general please Oda. I want some clear up on this "him dying by bullets from marine fodder" after "invading a world government sacred area". Maybe Tiger had help? I can assume that after Tiger was able to save the slaves, they had their DFs to help everyone escape but how did Tiger get there and free them without dying. How did he escape!?!? Come on Oda!
I believe Kong was positioned there in response to the attack. At the time, the security must have been light enough for Tiger to succeed, so that he didn't have to fight anyone with Admiral level strength, at least.
@Saturnchild:
Kinda dissapointed that Tiger got taken down by such low level marines. I expected some really heavy hitters to bring him down. I know it was a surprsie attack and he was on land but stil…..kinda dissapointed. They could have ahd at elast Kizaru finish deal with him instead of keeping him for that weakling Arlong
But he didn't get finished at all. Heavily outnumbered, all by himself, and put in one of the most disadvantageous positions possible against Strawberry and his men, he still managed to escape. He could have lived through the aftermath, too. His condition wasn't as bad as Luffy's after Enies Lobby, certainly. Blood transfusions are probably a common treatment after almost dying in a fight in One Piece. Sanji got put in an equally life threatening situation without even taking a single attack.
He died to his rare blood type and inability to control his hatred more so than to some fodder marines with rifles.
