..no, you can't compare shorter series to a long-running, nonstop juggernaut where the budget has to be carefully invested and pacing is an endless burden.
And go to your given Naruto forum and ask them if they're happy with Pierrot and the anime adaption. Hahaha. You'll find way more whining and cursing than here.
Don't pretend I didn't also mention Gintama (also a weekly anime, with much higher production values than OP and frequently putting out 2 chapters/episode), Hunter x Hunter or Ippo (Anime+OVAs). SE and FMA weren't the only examples.
I'm just saying, if you'll do something, do it right, like the anime I mentioned in my previous post. As a last resort, I'd even prefer months of fillers llike Pierrot does with Naruto/Bleach, but in return decently animated, directed and paced canon arcs. Hell, Bleach lately has been squeezing 3 chapters in each episode (of course it's lolbleach and not much happens in each chapter, but still).
This war arc nearing its halfway point and we still didn't get a single episode that's consistently animated, paced and well-directed in its entirety, like Bleach 270 or Naruto 166/167. Toei every once in a while bothers coming up with a decent scene, but they're few and far bwteen (Luffy vs. Smoker, Whitebeard vs. John Giant, Marco's introduction). Too little, too late.
