Felch Discussion Part 4

Side-boob alert.

@The:
Yeah, because us reading it for free on the net and then criticizing the hell out of it earns Kubo tonnes of cash and top rankings in WSJ right? Just like how twilight is supported by people who just make fun of it.
Seriously, I don't get what you're saying. It's not like the hardcore japanese fans reads it for free and everyone who buys the DVDs/ tanks are haters, and if anything our efforts in this thread serve to discourage people from investing in Kubos product. You obviously missed my sarcasm, bub.
-
Really? I guess our definitions of sarcasm are different, because I could have sworn you were saying that Kubos obvious Half-assedness made any deeper criticism of Bleach pointless, and that us continuing to read the series despite its shittiness was kinda silly.
So, with sarcasm you were saying…what? That were arent fools for disecting it, and Kubos not half assing it?It might be a nitpicky grammatical rant, but a partise sarcastical sentence just confuses me.
Bub. -
did someone say bub?

Did someone say "bub" twice?

If you want to know how much lost potential Bleach has, then just watch this week's Generator Rex. For some stupid reason, the "second-deadliest man" in the group Six was a part of was essentially a Spanish Sasakibe. (Yamamoto's useless butler VC)
Yeah…rapier-fighting can be manly if done in the right ways.
-
I only watched the first few episodes of Generator Rex, should I watch more? I thought the episodes I watched were pretty good, better than the rest of the crap on CN these days. I did indeed think Agent Six was a total badass, especially for Western Animation.
By the way, on the subject of non-anime cartoons, does anyone know if there is a Code Lyoko thread in the Other Media section, because I haven't found one. I might start my own if there is one. Didn't know where else to ask this.
-

Rex isn't a bad show. It has good and bad moments and there are episodes I consider dull, but it is a lot of fun and sort of goes along with the fact that good action shows can be made in the US…they just have to be hidden away in these sorts of stations to get no hype or notice.
-
does anyone else think this perfectly describes a bleach fan's twisted reasoning of why Bleach is good

Well, I tried.

walks into thread

Why are people so cruel? I can imagine a form of torture where they force you to keep your eyes open and stare at that picture for hours on end
-
Guess I'm along the minority of those who don't mind her too much.
Although I guess if I met a person like that in real life, I'd be pretty annoyed by them.
-
It's called group mentality. When a uniform opinion catches fire, everyone jumps on it. So I'll go ahead and translate that, "I hate that bitch", sentiment to, "Eh…", instead.
As for me, she's... eh.
-
While she is annoying, my reaction was more toward the awfulness of that picture then of her actual character
-
@Uncle:
As for me, she's… eh.
Yeah, same for me.
But if she keeps fawning over Ichigo and being a bitch to him in the same instance, then the fire shall grow. [/badmetaphor]
-
Oh wait. I'm gonna have to retract my statement. That chick who was always molesting Orihime is even worse. Actually, any of the females really (besides Yoroichi, Kukaku, Tatsuki, Yachiru, Lilynette, and the Shun Shun Rikka). I gave up on Rukia a long time ago. I feel as though she's always getting rescued by her brother/barely winning even though her powers seem awesome. Unohana could be cooler, but I don't think she's getting character development any time soon, if at all. And that's not even taking the male characters into account.
-
Why is it the 15 year old chick with the H-cup boobs that always yells Kurosaki-kun is one of the best female character in this series?
(Well she's not 15 anymore but you know what I mean).
-
(besides Yoroichi, Kukaku, Tatsuki, Yachiru, Lilynette, and the Shun Shun Rikka).
Any chance I can add Adult Nel to that list?
…...
(Oh come on, she kicked ass.)
-

What the hell ever happened to Nel? Seriously, she disappeared off the face of the Earth after Hueco Mundo. I didn't care that much about her but I'll admit she was better than at least 80% of the Bleach cast. That's not a compliment though.
-
I still like Rukia, only cause atleast she's not emotionally underdevelopped after her arc, like Orihime. ANd her powers are cool. If I didnt like Byakuya then I'd have a problem with him taking her screentimes, but other then that I really dont mind it. I'd rather have her yelling at Ichigo than Riruka. (anyone notice that Riruka is RUKIA but with the letters mixed up a lil and an added r)
Edit: Yes Nel and Grimjow srsly made HM awesome for me… then it went downhill when they dissapeared? what the hell Kubo... .what the hell, seems like you really know how to trash a seemingly good arc... (he makes the good characters dissapear)
-

You mean in Japan, surely? Because I never got the impression that she was very popular in this thread. I liked her towards the earlier part of the series for sure. Even up until the scene where she almost gave Ichigo a kiss, she was still likable to me.
@MetaMario:Any chance I can add Adult Nel to that list?

strokes imaginary mustache Hmm… aside from her ginormous boobs and voice, I do have to give her props for kicking Nnoitra's ass, which she would have finished doing had the transformation not come undone.
And apparently Rin wasn't a girl (wat), but if he was, I'd add him to the list too.
-
So…uh whatever happened to Kon actually? Did he get eaten by a hollow offscreen?
-

Ah, thanks. I mean, she made Nnoitra's ass kicking great, but then Kenpachi took it the next level. Overall, I was pissed the transformation ended. :/
So…uh whatever happened to Kon actually? Did he get eaten by a hollow offscreen?
Same fate as Grimmjow, Nanao, Nel, Pesche, Dondachakka, and Gatenbainne.
Forgotten by Kubo forever.
-
Yeah, wouldn't we all like to see Nel fight again? :/ Pesche was awesome purely for freaking Szayel the fuck out when he drew his sword. Heh. And who the heck is Gatenbainne? Does he perchance have an afro?
Wasn't Grimmjow supposed to come back though?
-
Yeah, wouldn't we all like to see Nel fight again? :/ Pesche was awesome purely for freaking Szayel the fuck out when he drew his sword.
Yes and yes. Glad you agree.
Heh. And who the heck is Gatenbainne? Does he perchance have an afro?
Correct. He was the orange-afroed Arrancar that Chad fought. Unohana had healed him, along with Chad…..but yeah, we didn't see what happened to him.
Wasn't Grimmjow supposed to come back though?
Maybe. Either way, I always thought the whole Grimmjow situation was inconclusive as all hell. Ichigo beats one of his most persistant Arrancar foes, and what happens? Nnoitra bested him in one surprising strike, then you virtually don't see Grimmjow after that. Death is a possiblity, (given how lazy Kubo is), but still, there was never any solid evidence he died. Just knocked out.
-

He was randomly knocked out and never seen again. I would just go with he's dead, so he's spared from Kubo's wrath.
-
Well people seemed to like it when I posted a rant on a few of the many reasons why Naruto sucks now. So I'll do one for Bleach. Or Felch.
One thing that really pisses me off is that Ichigo spends more than 20 volumes chasing after Orihime the girl who loves him. He fights Grimjow, Ulquiorra, Aizen all to rescue her, because that's his thing. And does their relationship upgrade at all? Does Orihime admit she loves Ichigo? Was all that time spent trying to save Orihime at all relevant.
NO! I mean what do you expect this is Kubo we're talking about.
I will freely admit that I don't care about Ichigo or Orihime but after 20+ volumes of trying to rescue her, I want their relationship to change at least somewhat after all that time. It makes the whole rescue attempt feel totally pointless. It would be like if after Enies Lobby, Robin didn't start to call the other Strawhats by their real names and her relationship was exactly the same as it was before all of the drama and emotion. That's not even touching into the rest of the crap in that horrible, horrible arc. I'm counting Hueco Mundo, Fake Karakura Town and Deicide as one giant, stupid arc. One of the worst story arcs in manga history that's for sure.
-
Has anything in Bleach really affected anything in the long run? Honestly, 99% of bleach is inconsequential bullshit and the other 1% is just stupid shit
-
@Kareem:
. I'm counting Hueco Mundo, Fake Karakura Town and Deicide as one giant, stupid arc. One of the worst story arcs in manga history that's for sure.
Well said. Sometimes I wonder what could have been if Gin did serve as the villain as originally planned, but then I realized that he'd still probably make the Wishing Stone, and in reverse, Aizen revealed he faked his death, and tries to stop him and fails.
So, just another exercise in failure.
-
I remember how Ichigo's bankai supposedly weakened him as he used it during the Byakuya fight, and then after that fight, not only was the weakness never even mentioned again, Ichigo went bankai for really, really, really, longass periods of time in hueco Mundo with no side effects whatsoever
-
Gatenbainne wouldn't happen to be the penis sandworm, would he?
-
No, he's (or was) the 70's Disco African.
-
Nell was much better as a vomiting, clingy child who talked about "throat penises" than she was as her true big boobed Ichigo lover Slash "Imma get my seriez battle face on!" run-of-the-mill Bleach girl self.

You should include the Arrancar skirmishes in karakura town and the vizard training as well. Kubo does, at least. But yeah, it's really jarring that Kubo leaves the status quo completely unchanged after such a huge arc. I mean, has ANY of Ichigos friends pointed out that they now know about shinigami, Ichigo being a former superhero, undead monsters and butterflymen and such?

Life just goes on for the most understanding and unquestionably accepting friends in the world.
-
We talkin' about Adult Nel? KICK ASS. Even if I liked her adorable kid self much more. She was just so precious.
Actually, I'll be honest, the females in Bleach rarely annoy me. Only Mega Generic Heart Stopper Dream Maker Lolita and Crazy Lesbian are the ones who make me face palm whenever they, well, exist. But nooooooooo. Most of them just evaporate from Kubo's mind once they're given any small heap of potential. You know, what he does to almost all of this characters…
...OH GRIMMJOW. WHY DID YOU HAVE TO GO?! I'm sorry, but I loved that stupid guy. It was like, my anger for Ichigo just personified and given blue hair.

To be honest, I prefered her to actualy have her mind back, even for a brief period.
Yeah being mentaly regressed like that is disturbing to me, I'm not afraid to admit.

Hm? Grimmjow isn't dead, Kubo confirmed in his latest interview that he will bring him back or something like that.
-
Not quite, more along the lines of "I didn't write their deaths to sufficiently express how dead they are".

Having the mind of a child doesn't bother me if the person having it is a child. It most definetely beats the opposite: childs with adult minds, whom are usually incredibly annoying. Case in point:

I will never get tired of that.Anyway, on the subject of Nell, theres a thing that everyone, myself and Kubo included, curiously keeps forgetting. And that is that she's a soul eating monster created by consuming unmeasureable amounts of other monsters, and was one of Aizens top officers. Fighting back against Nnoitra who was a dick to her is understandable, but we never get told why she became a "good guy". Kubo really didn't think her through; he propably just went "I need a cute comic relief supporting character for Hueco mondo! Members of the opposing organization becoming allies worked well in the Soul Society arc, so I'll just create an adorable little hollow kid, who was an officer in Aizens army! GENIUS!" and forgot the bit about hollows being ferocius undead things that kill people.

This is true. Kubo actually sometimes demonstrate the ability to come up with some cliched but okay characters, but he can't handle them for shit. They either
A) Vanish from the story without a trace, like you said
B) Are maltreated worse than an aging mule with osteoporosis (Chad, Rukia, Renji, Ishida and Orihime last arc anyone?)
C) Or have their personality switched off whenever something dramatic or action-y happens. Squad 11 is one of the exceptions to this since their personality is RAWR FIGHT, but almost everyone else devolve into a seemingly bored, arrogant, serious default setting. -

You're probably right I was only counting the actual rescue attempt for Orihime as one arc, but if we count the stuff before that then the Arrancar arc is 28 volumes long. For god's sake that's longer than many series. Kubo just couldn't come up with an ending he just decided to wing it knowing that his fanboys would support him no matter what.
BTW Daz I can agree that Nel wasn't that good of a character, it's more that she's better than the other Espada character and backstory wise. Which means almost nothing.

Because I so hate his pretentious "I'm rich so I can't see anyone killing someone as a necessity!" attitude.
Especialy when it involved a doctor knowingly badly treating his patient's condition and then calling himself a god when said person died.

You give Kubo too much credit. Nel originally was only a cute comic relief kid. And then when Nnoitra came along, Kubo went, "Oh! What if Nel was really a former Espada….....somehow! People love awesome plot twists like that!" right on the spot.
