Gotta say I agree with Hinscher here.
Poor foreshadowing is one of this manga's biggest weaknesses. If they'd gone so far as to drop even one little line during the Kage summit about how Mifune survived a fight with Hanzo, this crapawful chapter would have been SO much better.
-
yes a random fight between amazing guys is better than a FORCED story.
look at one piece war. Marco fought kizaru. Jozu fought aojige. Vista fought Mihawk. croc fought doflamingo. Go on think back, there are a crap load of other fights between legendary guys in that war. How many of them got some FORCED story to make it mroe interesting? NONE. We only got flashbacks and stories on things that MATTERED.
Okay, I can see what your saying, but this was a little flash back not a whole fucking story with tons of plot holes or deatils, all it essentially was was that they fought before and mifune fought him before, it wasn't like they had a detailed rivalry, it was legit two panels flash back, nothing serious like a deep hatred for one another before, if it was a detailed story that was forced like the horrid nine tails flashback before this than I'd agree
all I'm saying is your blowing this way out of proportion, probably because of your intense hate for Naruto
-
As Choperman says. Don't let hate cloud your judgment. Naruto is by no means great, but it's not a huge pile of shit either. Not every chapter is an affront to decency like, say Bleach.
-
I haven't read the last 2 chapters. And haven't actually read the last 10 chapters. How is thing going?

More characters we don't care about killing zombies of people we don't care about, the usual.

Hanzou I did care about since Kishi gave him a back story a long time ago hyping him up as the guy who beat the future 3 Legendary Sanins. He also worked alongside Danzou and was then later beaten by Pein. We knew a lot about the guy and consequently a lot more was expected from him this fight. Mifune…we don't know much about him even now. The reason why I was interested in him was because we've never seen how a Samurai really fights before now. I don't even count those Samurai Sasuke killed because they were just fodder.
The only thing I'm disappointed in this chapter is how Kishi is minimizing the damage to the allied side by giving the enemies BS excuses to be weak. Pein was supposed to be able to beat Hanzou because Pein was super strong, not because Hanzou lost his faith and grew weaker because of it. I liked the sword metaphor but damn it took a crap on Pein's victory if that's how Kishi wants it to be. Now Mifune gets to beat up on Hanzou too? Someone already mentioned it before but why didn't Kabuchimaru take away Hanzou's personality so he could be as strong as he was in his prime?
Still waiting for Kakashi's rampage.
-
Still waiting for Kakashi's rampage.
watch him just walk back, all beat up and shit. Someone goes "You defeated all the 7 swordsmen of the mist!? How was the fight!?"
"Fucking boring."
fight skipped entirely. I'm calling it now.

Since when are samurai an integral part of the Naruto ninja world again. And why is samurai leader guy's head still bandaged fifty good years after his battle with the rain's village guy?
Yellow mark here.

I pretty much stopped reading at the moment where Kabuto was attacking that old man with Deidara. :P I wonder if I should pick it up again now for the 'lulz'.

@Hinscher This has to do with Kishi style more then anything. Kishi has more flashbacks then Oda. Kishi has never tried to hide this. He did it during the Zabuza and Haku fight too. The story wasn't forced. Kishi is showing wat happened to Hanzo after he left rain village and why he stopped trying to conquer the village.
All Kishi truly did was use a clever analogy for why Hanzou was no longer the same powerful and legendary Shinobi that he once was. He took the easy way out, and abandoned his once noble goal of peace. He lost faith in not only that dream, but also indirectly himself and his own power, without ever actually realizing it.He was no longer strong, for he had willingly given up his own strength without ever realizing that's what he had done. He chose to abandon the very faith and ideals that would have allowed him to remain as the strong and legendary Shinobi that he became known as. It's Kishi's way of saying that, no matter how strong someone might still be, they can never hope to properly stack up against what they were, or what they could have been, had they never taken the easy way out, and gave up on the things they understand to be hardest to do. The truly strong stubbornly persist, and take in as many hardships as possible, then grow and become all the stronger from the experience. Hanzou gave up on testing himself, and so he ended up losing his former sharpness. He wanted things easy. He became the kind of trash that was only concerned with his own status and preservation. It's essentially like what Naruto once said, he doesn't know what this feeling is that he's having, but all he does know is that he doesn't want to lose to someone like Gaara, even if he should die. Naruto said that when he fought Gaara during the attack on Konoha. Mifune, just the same, cares nothing about whether he lives or dies, he just can't lose to such a person as what Hanzou has become, not anymore.
Also not everything needs to be forshadowed. Only important stuff IMHO needs to be.
@outspec It actually makes mo

After this fight with Hanzou and Mifune, I'm afraid Kishimoto can do shit when he draw the Raikage fight and the Tsuchikage fight.

@Cyan:

And more flashbacks. There's at least one to two per chapter.

Doubting this with the force of a million suns.
Don't you mean 600 billion exploding tags?
Gotta say I agree with Hinscher here.
Poor foreshadowing is one of this manga's biggest weaknesses. If they'd gone so far as to drop even one little line during the Kage summit about how Mifune survived a fight with Hanzo, this crapawful chapter would have been SO much better.
On the other hand, he DID foreshadow the ten tails in the moon when he said the moon was artificial during the Pain fight.
Unfortunately, we guessed at the plotpoint as a joke and then… it turned out to be true.
He also foreshadowed that using all 8 gates will kill someone, and that having a tailed beast removed will kill you. except uhm, apparently in Naruto's case it won't because he's special. But Lee is still screwed!
So I dunno. When he does foreshadow its terrible and then he retcons it later. When he doesn't foreshadow it's BS pulled out of nowhere. It'd probably help if he had an actual grasp of his story.

Am I the only one who's happy b/c the fight ended in 1 chapter? I mean if I'm not enjoying the whole war, then I should hope it reach the end asap, right?
May be b/c I was never a Naruto fan to begin with… I started reading it recently & even when it was somehow enjoyable, I wouldn't really call myself a fan back then...
Also not related to the recent chapter: Am I also the only one who thought that Uro could have beaten the 3rd pretty easily? I mean the 3rd did his (presumably) best summon and sacrificed his own life using a technique not even his own to kill Uro (which he failed at doing).
And what was Uro doing? he only did ET for 2 people & laid back. Now seeing he could have summoned his snake, made some jutsus & he could have even summoned an army of zombies instead of just 2, I would claim the Uro lost b/c he didn't take the 3rd seriously (that or kishi just forced the careless on him). -
@THE:
I haven't read the last 2 chapters. And haven't actually read the last 10 chapters. How is thing going?
1. Kakashi & random ninja vs. 7 Swordsman of the Mist w/Haku; Kakashi re-kills Zabuza & Haku and gets really pissed
2. Darui vs. two out of nowhere guys w/ nine tails chakra and magic stuff
Naruto was HunterxHunter for 3 chapters; Kakuza & Asuma show up3. Mifune vs. Hanzo; flashback of Pein killing Hanzo; Ol' Granny & Kimimaro show up
There you go.
@Big_Bad_Lith:watch him just walk back, all beat up and shit. Someone goes "You defeated all the 7 swordsmen of the mist!? How was the fight!?"

fight skipped entirely. I'm calling it now.
Sounds more like Bleachs ammo.

Next week hanzo figures out he can't die and fights at full strength killing everyone
… really though that better not be it for him or I'll be extremely disappointed, he was one of the zombies I was looking forward to seeing more about, i don't see how this could possibly detach him from this world
it will probably be a while before the next chapter comes out though, cause of the earthquakes, hell it'll probably be a while before any chapters come out in Japan at least a month or two i'd suspect

Is Hanzos salamander a zombie?

Is Hanzos salamander a zombie?
Good question, I don't think so though, I'm really pissed that the third can't be used as a zombie, you know how much damage he could do, it would be crazy!!!! I'd love to see him fight with no old age barrier holding him back, since I'm pretty sure I read he was the strongest hokage in several areas of the story, can only find one now
-
No !
The third had a great death leave him dead !
-
No !
The third had a great death leave him dead !
This is True…. I just wanted to see the full extent of his abilities
-
Chopper the 3rd would come back has a old man who didn't want ot really be hokage now. If the 3rd had died in his prime it would be different.

Reposting an old out of sync gif.

What episode is this? Is the Raikage one?
-
202, but it's actually the one before Sasuke vs Raikage, where he's against Juugo. Skip the first part if you want to watch it, it's lame.
Till next week then.
And i just noticed something, Samurais in Naruto are more ninja-ish than Ninjas…
-
I doubt there will be an episode next week.
-

We have yet to see the full extent of most characters that have been introduced in a long time, so why would 3rd Hokage get the honors? Even when we've seen a character go all out, it's been thoroughly underwhelming. It wouldn't be any different with him.

Raikage does not care for your bullshit.

Jugo: "Haha! Do you really think you stand a chan-"
Raikage: "Out the way, nigga!" -

You're forgetting that Kishimoto is a user of plothole no jutsu. I mean didn't Kabuto supposedly nuke all the personalities? Or is he going one by one after Haku and Zabuza? You'd think he'd be realize that even if they can;t move on their own, they can still leak secrets and techniques to the other side like Chiyo did -
http://i433.photobucket.com/albums/qq59/DemonAlien_photos/ee006a81b66d09da1c4c13b98ddee476.gif
i can't believe that's real

someone said there actually coming out with chapters this week, is that true?
if so how can they bounce back so quick?
-
The third shouldn't be there anyway… he lost his soul to that ability he used. right?
-
Well Oro has already summoned the 4th, which also "lost" his soul.
-

through going back to work, they keep japan's gears turning.
if they all just decided to stop, it would be worse for the country in the long run. -

If LA has an earthquake, everyone in NYC continues their normal everyday lives.
Guess its the same with Japan. -
No one posted spoilers yet?
! Flashback of Hanzou vs Mifune fight in the past
Hanzou commits Seppuku (suicide)
! Ino-Shika-Chou vs Asuma
Shikamaru sees an opening and gives Chouji an order to attack
Chouji is unable to attack
"Asuma, evade!" he says as he counterattacks.! So a zombie… Who kills himself. Wat.

! Why on earth would they tell Asuma to evade an attack? He's an invincible zombie for crying out loud.

Jumping Jesus on a freakin' Pogo Stick. This "being content or whatever and boom, released" is such crap, as it goes against the idea of being used by a asswipe succesfully. You need a weakness? Remove their tag, and they die. It's simple and plausible.
Anything over this.

-
hey guys these zombies cant be killed unless we talk them to death and let their spirits rest in peace or some shit
NEVERMIND THEY CAN KILL THEMSELVES
-
In Hanzou's defense, I think I would try to kill myself at this point too.
