Hey there, Perona for 2011 nakama.
wait a sec T_T
-
Don't start that again.
-
I'd rather listen to Caribou arguments then more Perona…
-
For people who think Luffy needs to build up a pirate army, Luffy already made good friends in all the countries/islands he's visited. Some of these friends are quite powerful/knowledgeable/resourceful.Some of them are even pirates.
-
Well i am hoping for a Fishman/Fishwoman to give Sanji blood because in chapter 609
it's said they become targets from people on Fishman island who hate humans because fisher tiger died because he was not given blood by a human. So if they give blood it will give them a reason to leave with the strawhats and mermaids/mermen are boring and it would be stupid to get a another human or caribou when they are on fishman island.
so hoping for either Jinbe or a new fishman/fishwoman to give blood be good to get a fishwoman if we are not getting Jinbe might even be son or daughter of Fisher tiger.

http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/39543275/12What's the point of linking to that? Everybody freaking knows it, unless they don't read the manga, which in that case they wouldn't be reading this to begin with.

Not at all - it's good to see people that don't resort to name calling and abuse.
Besides I think a lot of people are on edge because of the break and this thread is really a relic of a time pre time-skip when many thought the new crewmember was a certainty.
I'm kinda happy I never cast my vote - some of the early arguments were rather convincing at times - but with hindsight you can see the flaws some elquently and not so elequently pointed out.

It's not elequently, it's eloquently.
:ninja:
I doubted we'd get a new crewmember during the time the strawhats were separated either. Any new nakama must go through a good amount of time and friendly interaction with at least a good portion of the crew before they join - and at this point they had only interacted with just one of each. Besides, beforehand we had two new crewmembers join in two arcs in a row - I thought it was clear that we wouldn't get a new person in a while. -

:ninja:So eloquently put my dear
Unfortunatly my spelling is very hit and miss - I know the words and their uses but often fall down on the spelling. My work computer does not have an in built spell checker so I am a lot more honest in my aptatude with spelling when posting on forums.
My grammar is pretty bad too but I think as long as I am not using "txt spk 2 make there point and use wrong wrds 4 no rsn."

It was a more common thread of concern there - Brooke was still settling in to the crew another crew member would probably upset that balance a little detract from their adventures.
Perhaps or maybe I am just dribbling crap at 2am in the morning -

Perhaps or maybe I am just dribbling crap at 2am in the morningWell so was Franky - who, you know, had Usopp beat up and then kidnapped, and yet Brook joined right after him.
The strawhats got separated in chapter 513 and reunited in 598. Brook joined in 489 - it's been over 100 chapters since the last nakama joined. On top of that we had Saobody where the SH entirety did have an arc together, even if it was a small one. A new crewmember joining at this point isn't really out of the question - especially if they go through a long arc (which this one will clearly be since Oda has been planning it for so long) and NN teams up with the SHs throughout the majority of the arc like Franky and Brook did. That way we still get a new crewmember and we get a lot of crew interaction anyway.

Yeah work computers are locked down tight - I am also limited to using IE as well  But I get to be online at work and use these forums being paid as well so I'm not going to complain. Home has the spell checker for sure though

Yeah which is why I will use - as a spacer, I'm not sure if it should be a comma, period or colon. It's not correct but it's unique enough to me that it allows the flow to work.

Oh yeah there is a topic
Well the difference is Franky was a big part in Water 7 - to Enis lobby and then to Thriller bark so in total Franky got a lot of time to become accepted as part of the crew even though he wasn't actually a part of them till the end at Water 7.
Where as Brook got some facetime in at TB but by the time they hit SA he was still a pretty fresh face timewise. I'm kind of wondering even if they do bring in another crewmember it will push face time from the others away.
Not that I think it will affect the story - more that it will seem like some characters fade into the background. We have the Monster Trio - The Mid Tier Trio and the Weak Trio it's kind of hard to see who will become the Quartet - likely the Mid Tier and then any addition would be the weaker end. I don't see the monster Trio being changed but I could be wrong.

Which I think will happen with this crew member as well. I think it's highly likely we'll have an arc that parallels Water7 since it's likely we'll go to Mariejoa. After all, Luffy did do something only Fisher Tiger before him ever did. Yet at the same time, we do have a lot of tension between the SHs and the fishmen due to the whole Arlong scenario. That conflict could easily be solved if Luffy does what Fisher Tiger did and wins the respect of the island's inhabitants. NN is probably going to parallel Franky that way - sticking around from start to finish - though I doubt it will be Hodi Jones since that would be TOO similar. It's not going to be as easy as recruiting Brook or Chopper, though, that's for sure.
I'm even wondering if we might have a parallel between Usopp in Water7 and Sanji in FI. Usopp was heavily injured and then left the crew temporarily. A similar situation could easily arise with Sanji since now he's injured and he said he wanted to live in FI and that he had found All Blue. I can see conflict stemming from that.We have the Monster Trio - The Mid Tier Trio and the Weak Trio it's kind of hard to see who will become the Quartet - likely the Mid Tier and then any addition would be the weaker end. I doubt we'll get a monster quartet, so I agree. Most likely he or she will be mid-level.
It kind of makes me wonder if we have three people to go instead of two, and have an addition to each level, though I doubt it. -

Here they get the flashback of the story of Fisher Tiger - just like Noland.
They end up endeering themselves to two waring factions.
Further the knowledge of Ponyglyphs(spelling)
And present themselves with the requirement for the next crew through some form of forshadowing (ala Merry Damage)Don't get me wrong I would like the oppertunity for this to be the time they get their next crewmember. But it seems more as an arc for some exposition about the upcoming NW and changes post Time skip.

Mid Tier and Weak Tier are the likely ones to go Quartet if not both.Actually with the next island being Marinford (New World Version) I wonder if the next Crewmember could be like X-Drake? a marine that has decided to go against the government?
Not Coby though that wouldn't work. -

Not Coby though that wouldn't work.Hmm, or maybe Smoker? XD
I would love to have a logia on the crew, and smoker already showed he can be quite forgiving on pirates.
But anyway, i think Smoker had been closer to join the crew then nowadays xD -
No way will Smoker join the SH. He wants to capture them. He may not get along with authority, but I don't see him becoming a pirate. The closest thing would be them temporarily working together if they had a common enemy (like in Alabasta, they were both after Crocodile and Luffy had Zoro save Smoker's life and Smoker repaid that by letting them go later).
-
well a popular theory in some places is that smoker will be a temporary ally against the higher ups of the world goverment.
he's already shown some displeasure and dissent regarding his superiors.
As soon as he learns about more of the evil things the WG has done, he'll be a part of the resistance. -
I could see that happening, but not for another few years. So don't put too many chips on that bet.
-

When ppl say this it just makes me think of fodder fighting fodder and one panel each scenes of named characters attacking fodder.

The marco pirates are about it. No really they are. Two or three random Shichibukai aren't going to help much.

And present themselves with the requirement for the next crew through some form of forshadowing (ala Merry Damage)I do agree that this arc does seem to be very similar to Skypeia, but I can definitely see it being similar to Water7 because of the whole Mariejois thing as well. Of course, FI will stand by itself as its own arc and not the inverted mirror of Skyepia or any other arc.
I can't say for sure that we will get another crewmember, I'm just saying that IF we do it will probably be a similar case to Franky; we will have a very long arc, possibly split into two, and due to previous issues with fishmen the joining process will be a lot longer and more complicated than Luffy spouting "Join my crew!" at first sight.
However, I wouldn't dismiss the new crewmember idea totally, just remember how long was it that the last crewmember joined, and the fact that we have had an arc with all 9 SHs in (+Strongworld if you want to count it) - even without the timeskip, which is more than there was between Franky and Brook joining - so it wouldn't be out of left-field to have a new member join at this point. -
I want to see a crew member that wants to join but has to persuade Luffy into letting him…
It's always Luffy wanting the person to join. It'd be cool to have someone actually join with no hesitation...like Brooke and Robin.
-
I said it before but I'd like one of the next nakama to fight Luffy seriously 1 on 1. Not like Franky vs. Luffy but an actual beat the crap out of each other fight.

I've always wanted a zoro vs sanji match, a serious one, idk how it would be done feet vs swords and I'm sure oda could make it epic

So you want someone on the same level as Luffy? Even Zoro isn't on the same level as Luffy, that would be a bit odd. I can imagine the next crew member being strong, but not that strong.

They don't have to be as strong as Luffy, they just need a odd way of fighting that Luffy can't deal with right away. Usopp has basically fulfilled this role, he and Luffy totally had a full on fight.
Would be nice to see it happen with the new mate as well.

I think Luffy has all his grounds covered with his fighting style. In my opinion the only times we will see Luffy having trouble is if the opponent is insanely strong, or the environment has put him at a disadvantage, the most likely case considering that he is surrounded by sea water.

Lol, somehow remind me of pokemon.
On a serious note, I think the timing is bad. Luffy is really strong now, if we have such a fight, it will be damn short. Not enough to entertain me.

To gain what?
Showing how different his\her view was in the beginning but slowely changed during the arc until he\she even wants to follow Luffy? -
@Sniper:

I really like this idea, It would be fun to watch
-
that would feel really goku x vegeta but that be cool
-
I don't think two nakamas could fight at the equal level right now. Well Sanji and Zoro may be in the same level (we still have to see their trainment results) but i don't think they could fight each other with the same posibilities.
And also as you people say, if the new posible member was fighting Luffy, he must be a amazing fighter and i don't think that guy could exist (out of a actual crew i mean, cuz obviusly there are strong guys as Luffy but they are all in crews already). -
Why not? and that dude doesn't need to be as strong as Luffy, just have a way of fightning or a DF that gives him/her some advantage like Robin's. Also Usopp once fought Luffy full power meaning that power levels can be overcomed with strategy and…some dirty tricks
-

if that fight had happened after Enies Lobby.. that would have been boring to watch though.
-
my idea for next nakama : the one who give Sanji blood.
-
My idea for next nakama. The first chef they find.
Sanji's has found all blue, and gone to paradise. They won't find any blood transfuison for him, but that's okay. He can die now, his story is done.
But it does mean they'll need a new chef.
-
So…. Hachan for nakama?
He is someone willing to give blood, can cook, is a fishman, and can fight.
There you go, the perfect crewmate to meet all requests I've read on this page -

Hachan is also someone who can get on Zoro's nerves, just like Sanji. If Sanji does leave/kick the bucket here, than we will need a crew member who can give Zoro that same kind of grief.
