Alright, enough whining about the break. Get things back on topic.
-
You are all hypocrites anyway! $5 you think you deserve a break from work or school once in a while.
Edit: Hell I'm a hypocrite too… can't even stay on topic.
Edit: Dammit double post. Better infract myself. -

Hmmm true - but I thought it would be more if History was repeating Smoker like Sengoku and Coby like Garp.
But Coby clearly stated that he want to become admiral, while Smoker never said it. If you think that Sengoku was admiral (and later fleet-admiral, too) while Garp was vice-admiral, a repeating history would be Coby=Sengoku and Smoker=Garp. Even because Sengoku looks a bit younger than Garp…

But do you have to have Devil Fruit to be a Admiral? Because if so then Coby couldn't be one, I mean at the very least they have to be able to use Haki and we already know Coby can use The King's Willpower. Anyways the highest rank I can see Coby achieving is Vice-Admiral and Smoker could be the new admiral to replace Aokiji. (On second thought, no he's not powerful enough)
-
But do you have to have Devil Fruit to be a Admiral?
Nope, because Garp had been offered the admiral position several times in the past but he wanted to stay at his current rank. and Garp has no devil fruit, so i guess it's not 100% neccessary…
and as for Coby, refer to the post below me.
-
so far Coby has NEVER shown even the sightest sign of having Colour of the conquerer haki or "Kings Willpower" as you prefer to call it. He has shown however that he possesses Colour of observation haki and with that I refer to the voices in his head of course.
-
When you replace an admiral, you have to kill him to get his DF for the new one.

He is right in the sense that when a DF user dies his power returns to the ocean so someone can eat that fruit again

Well it was half humor, half serious: the actual 3 admirals have logia DFs of the same kind that combine perfectly together. I don't think they got their DF first and then decided to become marines and then reached at the same time the top rank. I think they were marines and then when they reached a certain level - maybe VA - they were given these fruits to become admirals. So maybe on each generation of admirals, the marines/WG agrees on what power should be given to them.
-
@MDL:

Garp has no devil fruit that we know of, I can't remember him jumping into the water and swimming.

Changing topics a bit…
I was reading the Thriller Bark arc someother day, and at the end, when they leave florian triangle, there is a monster in the mist.
What are the possibilities that moster is the Kraken that appeared in this chapter?
Because Kokoro mentioned that hundreds of ships disapear in the Florian triangle, I figured it was because the moster eats them...Also, I only noticed ti now, but taming monsters seems to be a Luffy thing.
-
If it was Kraken I'm sure it will be confirmed soon. If that won't happen it probably wasn't Kraken but something else mysterious.
-
I just thought of something… what if this is the return of the Rolling Pirates? Supposing this Kraken is the same thing that attacked Thriller Bark, what if the Rolling Pirates have been living in it for the last two years, and upon attacking it, their ship gets spit out? With the possibility of Laura's mom being BigMom, I wouldn't doubt that she and her crew will be making a reappearance, soon.
-
oh yeah interesting thought
not too sure tho, because i think that kraken never ever left his place before

The Kraken travels around the whole ocean, Caribou's words…
Caribou: I've never heard that that thing was living in these waters!!! …...!!! / That legendary demon that roams the vast ocean, never tiring of the slaughter it leaves in its wake…!! The enemy of all humanity!!! // That beast is......

From Volume 48's SBS:
**D: Excuse me!! May I pose a serious question to the typically-vulgar SBS?? In Volume 46, Usopp said that the same power doesn't exist twice. But this doesn't make sense with what you said in the Volume 45 SBS… If the Gomu Gomu Fruit was in a book of fruits, then Luffy HAD to have eaten at least the SECOND known example of the fruit! Now, most beautiful and intelligent Ei-chan, explain it all! ✩ P.N. Takafi
O: Very sharp of you. But I'm cool. I haven't made any mistakes. As a hint, let me rephrase what Usopp is saying. "The same powers don't exist twice AT THE SAME TIME." How's that? For more detail, you'll just have to wait for a certain professor to make his appearance in the story, and explain exactly what the Devil Fruits REALLY are... Eventually.**

Giant Sea Monster… Kraken... See where I'm going with this?

Still he doesn't say anywhere that the fruit returns to the ocean. The SH have been traveling half the world on oceans but they never found a DF floating on the sea. The only thing we know is that BB was able to absorb WB' power after his death so maybe the fruit just appears where the last user died. It would also explain how some DF can be described in a book, if the DF went back to the see, how would they know what it should look like ? The only way to link the previous user to a DF appearing somewhere is that the DF appears where the previous user died.
BTW now that I think about it: when Ace died, there was some strange smoke leaving is body, it didn't look like a vanishing flame but as some "ghost". Could it be related to the fruit ?

If it just appeared in the previous user's corpse, then a DF user's body would be guarded over like Nobody's business. We do know from Blackbeard's "theft" that the fruit's power does remain in their bodies post mortem for a period of time, though. How long that period is, though, is indeterminate right now. However, Sengoku's willingness to give up Ace's body to Shanks makes me think that however long it remains in their bodies post mortem, it's not long enough to extract the fruit's power by conventional means. The fact that they buried Ace in a proper grave makes me think that the fruit's power eventually disperses and is reborn elsewhere, and doesn't stay in the previous user until extracted.
The longest period of time we've seen a corpse with a DF power is Brook's. His corpse spent an entire three years inactive while his soul searched for his body. Though we can't be sure if the fruit's power had already been expended and moved on, or moved on the moment his soul reconnected with his body. It's an unknown right now.
BTW now that I think about it: when Ace died, there was some strange smoke leaving is body, it didn't look like a vanishing flame but as some "ghost". Could it be related to the fruit ?
No, that was probably just smoldering from Akainu's punch. Whitebeard didn't have the same smoke effect from his body, even before Teach sucked out his power.

BIG MOM is like WB she biologically not a MOM…... but considered a MOM by her crew so became famous as BIGMOM

It'd be better is she was biologically her crew's mom and she got bigger with each birth.
-
It would sort of be disturbing that she keeps producing children.
I don't know why. But a women having numerous births on a ship just sounds odd. :getlost: -

What if the fruit simply re-appears where the user died ? He could be buried anywhere else. The fruit power from what we know is like a daemon living inside the user so when he dies, something immaterial may leave his body on that specific place.
That means that on the battlefield of MarineFord, marines will be able to gather lots of DF !No, that was probably just smoldering from Akainu's punch. Whitebeard didn't have the same smoke effect from his body, even before Teach sucked out his power.
Yes that's what I was thinking the first time I read the chapter. Bu re-reading it, I find that shape very strange, the "smoke" effect doesn't really match, it's like a form trying to get out of the body, like the Alien (but in the back) :-) Or like Moria's shadows.
We didn't see much of WB death, and certainly not his back, and then BB covered him to steal his DF power. -
Sanji doesn't have confirmed haki because logias can decide whether thry would like t get hit or not. And he doesn't want to get hit because he doesn't want SH to know he is strong.
-

-
I don't have a smiley for the disturbing thing I just heard.
Maybe she was romantically entangled with WhiteBeard.
One Yonkou style relationship. -
The Kraken looks alot like the squid monster in Strong World movie , but bigger :ninja:
-
Well wasn't it hinted that the Rolling Pirates ran into a monster or something unfortunate after leaving Thriller Bark?
Oh and I so agree that BigMom could be her mom
Actually that's a misunderstanding. The monster was inside the fog of the Florian Triangle, and by the time TB arc ended the entire ship island was out of the triangle (closer to Water 7 than the Red Line). It's the straw hats that should have run into the monster (since they had to sail into the Florian Triangle again), but their strong luck saved them.
Lola pirates said they weren't going into the Fog ever again, and should have safely continued their journey to the earlier parts of the Grand Line. -

Because Kokoro mentioned that hundreds of ships disapear in the Florian triangle, I figured it was because the moster eats them…I also just reread that chapter. I guess I had read it quickly that week because I had totally forgotten about Lola's mom's vivre card as well as that enormous shadowy creature.
I think it's 90% likely that Lola's mom is the yonkou "Big Mum", so perhaps we will be seeing Lola's crew again, and it will be explained then.

hmm… i got bored and made word cloud map of this thread

Ok then thanks. :) for some reason my hazy memory remembers him using Kin… CoC haki (Trying to break a bad habit) at the end of the war at Marine HQ when he is trying to stop all the fighting. CURSE YOU BRAIN!!!!

Nah, he just shouted really loud. I think he might get COC given his dreams and his willpower (standing up to akainu).
-
I heard that they die. im not exactly sure tho, but im pretty sure they die.
Oda confirmed that in one of those Q&A sessions he had earlier. Forgot what they're called.

Heeeey! I like that idea, Fire Fist. If the Florian triangle really is a breeding ground for giant squid (e.g. Kraken), then it's possible that the Rolling Pirates didn't escape from them as easily as the SH did.
The narrator, just after talking about the true "horrors" of Florian, refers to the SH as "our lucky band" – implying a comparison with others who weren't so lucky. So it's very tempting to assume that the Rollers were the unlucky party. Especially because Lola herself says: "did I see something moving in the mist?"
Oh and I so agree that BigMom could be her mom
Seems most likely to me, too, seeing as it's "Mom" and all.

Lola pirates said they weren't going into the Fog ever again, and should have safely continued their journey to the earlier parts of the Grand Line.kudo-kun, are you sure? As best I can tell from the scan and various translations, only the "lucky" SH cleared the area safely for sure. Lola's crew are still quite close to it.
As evidence: Lola says "I'm never coming back HERE again" – not "I'm never going back there again" – so it sounds as though her crew hasn't cleared Florian yet.
Also, the Risky duo's compelling story of SH bravery is likely to be a big enough distraction so that nobody will be paying close attention to the ominous fog and shadows slowly advancing on them.
Oh man, I'm really warming up to this idea of the Rolling crew being nabbed by the kraken.
I'll be sad if it isn't true. Here's Stephen's translation of that section:
[…Are lost in the depths of its mists.]
[It has been the deep mystery of these waters,]
[long before the enormous pirate vessel Thriller Bark…]Laura: Did you see something moving in the mist?
Pirates: What are you saying, Captain Laura?
Don't try to scare us all of a sudden!!Laura: Oh, forget it. I'm never coming back HERE again!!
Pirates: Aha! That's it!!
[…First cast its shadows on this nebulous stretch of sea[/COLOR], ten years ago…]
- Page 170 -
[The white fogs fortunately roll in thick once more,]
Pirates: Gather around, people!!
Prepare for the tale of your lives!!Object: (whooosh)
Pirates: What? What is it?!
[Enshrouding the face of the true horror of the sea behind a veil of white…]
Pirates: I call it…
"The Straw Hat Crew: A Moving Tale of Manhood"!!
Don't pee yourselves, kiddies!
It all began when the dastardly Seven Armed...[Meanwhile, our lucky band–their ship having escaped that dark sea--]
Brook: Yohohohoooo!! Yo-hoho-ho!!
[Follows its compass,]
[To the paradise on the ocean floor.] -
Zoro also won't eat a devil fruit due to what he said as a child atthe Dojo.
Kuina was sad because as a female, Zoro will beat her.
Zoro became very angry because he stated,
"Because you are a female!?!? It wasn't because of my skill or all the training?"I can't remember the exact words. Zoro said he was going to win, but only because of his training and skills.
-
no chance zoro will eat a fruit, or at least i hope with all my migh the does not. the kraken could be one of the smaller ones, possibly a young one. it cud explain why its smaller tha nthe shadow in the fog
-

Singing - I agree with you about Zoro never getting a DF, but I think you might have accidentally posted your message in the wrong thread.
