Thanks to the TS! I have been hoping for something like this for a long time.
Well she does only have to learn 1 more bendding (air) and save the world so it didn't seem like it was going to be long. Couldn't they make it around 20 episodes, the length of 1 of the Avatar seasons?

Spoiler alert: everybody dies eventually
12 episodes?!
Well its probably not going to be a very big story then is it.
maybe they'll see how it goes and add another 12 like they did for that new slayers season. normal slayers seasons are 26 episodes, but this new one they did 13 and then another 13
Now don't get ahead of yourselves everyone, it's going to premere Fall 2011 so maybe something will happen by then.
i was hoping for atleast a full season well hopefully they will change their minds

Uhm no. Slayers Revolution/Evolution-R was always a packaged deal. R picked up the week after the first one ended, and continued a massive number of plot threads that were still hanging from the previous show. The name change was just a marketing ploy to tie into a card game.
They didn't make 13 episodes and then go "Oh, this did well, lets make more", it was always going to be 26.
And 14 episodes, while not an awesome full season of 20, is fine. Every season had a few episodes of filler, not to mention multiparters. The last season only had like 9 actual stories in it despite being 21 eps.
I just feel that with the type of story their dealing with in this one, they could have easily taken a couple of seasons if they did everything right and didn't rush it.
12 episodes doesn't seem like enough to catch the scope of what's going on with the anti-bending movement and all.

If you can't tell a story in 4 and a half hours, especially with 20 hours of backstory already behind it, you're doing something very wrong.
I like it sheerly because it gives us that closure of an Air book the whole thing needed.
i stand corrected
Looking at the picture that's been released, I wonder if that's Lake Laogai and Republic City was built on the outskirts of Ba Sing Se. If the Earth King came back and decided to build a new home for the people in the slums, that'd explain how it grew so quickly.

According to Toonzone, Nickelodeon says that it's a full series rather than a miniseries. Twelve episodes have been ordered so far, but that doesn't preclude further episodes.
Even if it is only twelve episodes, you're right; TLOK is building on a world that we already know quite well so they can cut out any episodes that would establish the setting beyond introducing us to Republic City.

Ah yeah, that does leave potential for more. According the artbook, the 13th episode of the first season, the Blue Spirit ep, was the original season 1 finale before a further order of eps.
So, more is possible then.

We can skip episodes like the great divide this time around, which while amusing, were basically filler. And won't need the entire first 3 episodes to really set the world up.
i have no doubt they could tell the story in 12 eps seeing as the worlds already established she already know how to bend water ,earth and fire and they can cut out the filler but i would still enjoy a couple filler eps while pointless to the overall story they are fun and help with character development although i can live with out it although one thing i was wondering what Korra's animal guide will be or wont she have 1 because dont water benders lean from the moon
actually, thinking about the original season of Dragon Ball; it was epic and exciting, and it always blows my mind that all that awesomeness was fit into 13 episodes. I guess it could be done.
Well, I figured that in this series (learning) bending was going to take a backseat.
And if you think about it, the world really isn't already established. This is 70 years in the future; the world has changed – it's industrialized now. So much has changed between TLA and now that it's hardly the same world.
But my biggest problem with it being 12 episodes is the depth of story. I want to know about the leaders of this anti-bending movement, I want to understand their reasons. Their back stories need to be fleshed out, and I'm worried about how well they'll be if there's only 12 episodes.
I was talking about this to my friends, and we figured it could easily fit 3 seasons again:
[hide]Season 1: Korra arrives in Republic city set on mastering Air Bending. Her and Aang's son initially butt heads, but soon become good friends. (:O Characer development!) Partway through the season, she learns of an underground anti-bending plot that could topple Repubic City and in the season finale, finally stops it. But that's just the tip of the iceburg.
Season 2: Anti-bending has taken a hold all over the world. Korra still not having mastered airbending is under more pressure than ever, as she has to help defend cities against the movement. She struggles, and by the end of the season, Republic city, and numerous others have become completely anti bending.
Season 3: All out war is brewing between the benders and non-benders. Early on in the season, Korra finally masters Airbending and then spends her time focusing on how to stop the war without bloodshed. She is too late, and battles begin breakin out everywhere. Then….we don't know. A good ending is always the hardest part to write, even in an outline. You decide.
[/hide]
Yeah, that's not the best story overall, but it shows the potential a storyline like this has. A world turning on each other. Benders vs non-benders. Brother killing brother.
Well, I'll keep hoping that they get signed to more than 12 episodes…there is still a year until it premieres after all...
I wanna see Koh…....with Zhou's face....Yea
Looks like a waterbender, from the color of the clothes. Good chance that if Katara's still alive, she's gonna meet/has met her. I'm mostly just wanting to see what the gang will look like all grown up.
Also wondering if they gypped us and made Aang marry someone other than Katara :V
Hopefully it'll do the inner-mind flashbacks so we can see what Aang looked like all grown up (just like how he used to see Avatar Roku)
The guys in some of the interviews already confirmed that Katara is… (what is his name?) the master airbender's mother.
70 years is beyond "All grown up"
And I'm betting that Aang in his "roku like" spiritual mentor parts will aparear as we knew him, only in flashbacks he will be shown as an adult. As I said already, the spirits present themselves as their self image, Roku as an old man who made a grave mistake, Kyoshi as a young warrior (even if she died at 300 years old), so Aang's apareance won't be set in stone.
Also wondering if they gypped us and made Aang marry someone other than Katara :V
It wouldn't be a gyp if Katara ended up with Zuko.
But that ship has sailed.
dident i post a comment here already?

Seeing as how you were not even in this forum, before the thread stopped, I'd say no. Maybe you posted in the new series thread?

Is it as good or almost as good as one piece?
why does everyone want to compare everything ever made to one piece
why does everyone want to compare everything ever made to one piece
I dont mean it like that. Im just asking to see if its THAT good to see what i should expect. Of coarse I dont expect it to be as good as one piece but come on give me SOME kind of comparision?
why does everyone want to compare everything ever made to one piece
Because its a One Piece fansite and its a common frame of reference?
And yeah, Avatar is pretty damn good. Different sensibilities than OP, but great characters, action, animation, music and overall story, probably the best animated material created stateside in the last decade.
This might be a stupid question but does it have fanservice?
Adore Avatar, one of my top rated shows of all time I'd say. Finally bought all three DVD boxsets the other month, I live in England so it took ages for them to see a release but it was worth the wait.
Does anyone know if we have any more info on that upcoming new series? The one with Aang's daughter or something..
This might be a stupid question but does it have fanservice?
Yes, that is a stupid question.
And if by fanservice you mean great combat, comedy, characterization, writing, plot, animation, and music, yes, it has it in droves.
If you mean bouncing boobies and panty shots, then no. Why would it? Its A nickelodeon show for crying out loud. (The best thing Nick has ever done… but still Nick.)
@Forsaken:

Far as I know there isn't any new info yet. Still not even a release date.
@RobbyBevard:
Yes, that is a stupid question.
Now at least we know it wasnt you that has deleted the new comments here.

There was a modicum of it here and there. The most famous being the Blind Bandit episode of season 3 where we see Katara having a bath.
Arrgh, stop answering that question -_-
I didn't think the first season was all that great, but the second and third season were awesome.
Oh, and Aang is a lame main character, but all the side characters were incredible and more than made up for it.
