Law > Capone in every way. Lame-os should get awesome dialogue when there wasn't much to begin with.
yes i agree law is better but they should still get it right they could have let law something to without removing content from other characters
It's not like the line is ANYTHING major. If it changed shit, I'd be pissed.
Problem is, it doesn't. Toei was just taking some creative liberties. Move along.
-Nice scene with the people complaining and the Supernovas watching from the shadows
-Why he heck did they change the person that comments that Whitebeard would never do that? I liked how Capone showed he has respect and wouldn't betray his crewmates, even if he's shown killing one of them for disrespecting him.
-I liked the added scene of Hawkins reading the Death card, for obvious reasons for those who read the Manga.
-The devastation scenes from the Magma were brilliantly done, I loved them
-The scene where Whitebeard tries to punch the wall was also awesome
-I think that the change of order was very smart by TOEI, having Moby Dick being destroyed after we saw all the chaos made it feel more impactful, in the manga, it was shown first the ship being destroyed, and then all the people dying.
-Holy shit, the music from when Luffy defeat Lucci being used on the run to Oars. I want the full version of that song.
-TOEI seems to be awesome at doing devastation scenes, the walk to Oars was also brilliantly handled, nad not only because of the music. Now this is smart filler, TOEI, not that Mihawk VS Jinbe bullshit.
-lol, the way how Jinbe and Ivankok advanced when they saw Luffy falling to the water was terrible, it didn't look realistic at all
-Nice filler with the Squard crew.
-Toei, stop freaking dragging on scenes with Kizaru, I know it kinda fits his slow personality, but we can't help but feel "Bullshit" when we see Kizaru looking 5 seconds at Oars' head before shooting his head.
-Jinbe's attack was actually well done now, in the last episode where it was shown, Jinbe simply did a kameha wave on the water, he actually grabbed the water now, great job on that.
-Luffy coming from out of the water = FUCKING AWESOME, Toei is good with these "revealing" scenes, same happened when Whitebeard jumped from the ship the last episode.
-The music when Luffy faced the Admirals gave me shivers.
-The last part made me disappointed, why didn't the ice pass through the Admirals instead of just passing close to them?
Overall, great episode
Edit:
Yeah..
I'm pretty sure you're the only one who's extremely pissed at that.
I'm pretty pissed at that too.
Its not a episode-breaker, I would have complained and threw a huge fiss on it, along with some other things, if it wasn't for the fact this episode was breath-takingly awesome.
Right, lets thwart Canon and turn it to filler. Great idea!. Perhaps Capone is supposed to say it for possible future dialogue or character portrayal? But now we have Law, who is going to get screen-time anyway… Taking lines that aren't his, might as well be Filler.
I may be the only one pissed about it, but that may be because I'm the only one here with the sense to see a problem with it. Good day.
I agree here.
I really enjoyed how Capone was the one saying the line, considering he was the one who killed a fellow crewmate with a fork in the eye.
He's a key animator. Some of the other scenes he's done recently are the Gigant Stamp sequence in Impel Down, Marco clashing with Kizaru, Whitebeard pummeling John Giant and tilting the island, and I think possibly the Hammer Rifle scene too.
Marco clashing with Kizaru was awful, but aside from that, those were pretty much the most awesome scenes in the past two arcs

Meh, I'l have to agree to disagree here, I still think it was something worthy of giving Capone after the fork scene

It's originally from Movie 8. Here ya go:
Holy shit, I've been looking for this for months.

I've watched that video ten times now. I had finally managed to stop. Damn you.
I'm on the 7th go now.
I think I'l stay until 1:00 AM watching it.
Seriously, I can't stress how much of a great job Toei did on this episode
Fair enough, it pisses the shit out of me they reused Kizaru's attack two times, though
This episode… was just.... GAAAAAAAH!
I haven't liked this arc in the anime so far, but this episode...
All in all, it wasn't good. The episode was dragged out, and just boring.
Until the ending. Holy crap. That was epic.
I was literally jumping up and down in my seat since it was so exciting! The music combined with awesome animation was just awesome job by the animators.
100/10.
That scene had some amazing animation.
Sengoku had so much expression in his face.
Crossword: Did the same animator direct the scene when Ray saves Zoro from Kizaru back at SA?

Thank you, so fucking much.
The fact that this scene has ''the strawhats' badass walk in Shiki's mansion'' music from Strong world is legendary.

This guy needs to do the anime 24/7, I love all those scenes SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much, hell have him do the whole war
is there a page that shows all his scenes
simple awesome episode
the best parts to me :
I am on a roll to watch this scene as well.
I tought the arc lacked dramatic music when epic moments came.
WTF no music when WB arrived on the scene.
I can't wait for the straw hats to take on the admirals near the end of the series.
Luffy vs Akainu
Zoro vs Kizaru
Sanji vs Aokiji
It sounds freaking epic.

Luffy vs Akainu
Sanji vs Kizaru
Zoro vs Aokiji
Fix'd. Sanji and Kizaru both have the same fighting style (Kizaru generally uses his legs to whoop ass), so it'd fit better.
I have to admit. I was caught off guard and very suprised when Oars Jr. suddenly woke up after being defeated almost 10 episodes ago.
Really good episode.
I'm sorry for my ignorance. I was reading some pages of this thread and I read something that interested me. Say it, if I got it right. Toei have some episode teams. They have each their episodes to do and rotate to achieve it. Inoue is one of the group’s chefs and the best one. Is that right? Can someone tell me the name of the others and rate them? I‘m just curious.

Here's a post that has images from all of the currently active animation directors on the show right now. If I had to rank them, it would be something like this:
Eisaku Inoue
Naoki Tate
Katsumi Ishizuka
Atsuko Kawamura
Yukiko Nakatani
Shigefumi Shingaki
Kazuya Hisada
Takeo Ide
Megumi Yamashita
Kenji Yokoyama (his recent episodes have booted him up a spot on my scale)
Masayuki Takagi
Toshio Deguchi

I mean Kizaru was probably the closest person to kill Zoro so far.
It is undeniable he has a very bad history with him. It is interesting that Rayleigh (the first crewmate of the PK) saved Zoro (who is his equivalent).
Kizaru seems to love to mess with the second crewmates of pirate crews (Marco and Ben)
Sanji's diable jambe + haki can are a perfect match for Aokiji's devil fruit power.

but kizaru has a thing for fighting first mates
rayleigh
marco
and ben beckmen (well kind of)
EDIT: DAMN IT!!!!!!!!!
Everyone in the future is waiting for a fight Luffy vs Akainu, Zoro vs Kizaru, Ao Kiji vs Sanji or Luffy vs the 3 amirals.
Is anyone else getting the feeling that the anime is turning this part into some more generic "Ace~san!" "Luffy~chan!" bullshit? The aesthetics won't be questioned, but the additional writing put in amounts to nothing but turning a Gantz script into a madlib.
I distinctly remember most of Luffy's dialogue for this arc was "AAAAAACEEE!!!", "Get out of my way! gets beat up", "Thanks!" or some variants thereof.
Ace's was mostly self-loathing monologues, so the HGGKHKHHKHGKG is somewhat of an improvement.

I think it'll be Zoro vs Kizaru because during the Rayleigh and Kizaru fight they both used swords.
Everyone in the future is waiting for a fight Luffy vs Akainu, Zoro vs Kizaru, Ao Kiji vs Sanji or Luffy vs the 3 amirals.
I'm not looking forward to this ever happening, not if he's winning we've been shown that admirals are pretty tough to beat even if your a yonkou, he shouldn't be able to take out 3 by himself at any point of the series in my opinion

Lol I agree. This episode was alright, the pace is slowish but i'm glad that at least one major event takes place per episode. I wasn't expecting
! Ace to be freed and the smackdown to begin and I was right, but at least we know that Ace will be freed in the next episode.
! This is incredibly painful to watch though. Dammit, Ace
Has anyone noticed the whole Monty Python Sir Lancelot Run vibe this war is giving off? The more they run forward the further back they get. The Quest for the Holy Ace. Its a Photoshop goldmine! :ninja: hint hint

Imagines Sengoku saying "I fart in your general direction" in a french accent :wassat:
*Imagines Ace saying "But I don't want any of that, I just want to sing…!!" *
Oars is the Black Knight.
Doflamingo cuts his leg off
Oars: Dis but a scratch!

Oars: No it idn't
474 music?:
! On episode 474 when Luffy is running past the cannon explosions through until he gets blown into the water, what songs were playing through all that?
Not sure if I could post this without spoiler tags or not so I put em' on.
Just watched the episode….EPIC!!!! Clearly the best so far in the arc and, in my opinion, the best overall episode since Shabody. That last scene was animated to perfection. When the Anime even surprises someone who read the Manga you know they are doing something right, I nearly yelled out loud when Luffy came out of that water-thing..

Also if you stil update your TVTropes anime blog , you have a link to it andy ?

Deguchi's at the very bottom because most of his episodes are pretty poor artistically. He's really more suited for talking-heads episodes instead of action-oriented ones.
The blog's still going. Right now I'm taking a break from covering the episodes to work on Movie 10. The link to it is still in my sig.

''I will Surpass You'' from Movie 8.
Oh right , stupid me :P
Hah, I finally noticed that they reused a bit from Kaze wo Sagashite again.
Hah, I finally noticed that they reused a bit from Kaze wo Sagashite again.
Yeah, I noticed that too when I first saw it. At least they made it look a little different by having that reddish color around Ace when it does that close-up and it wasn't as annoying as the scene where they re-used the "panning of the 3 admirals" twice.
Finally saw this episode and it is very very very well done.
I love it when the anime gives me the same feeling like the manga or even more intense.
Can't wait for the next episode
! the last scene of the preview, was it Luffy's haki outburst?
Finally saw this episode and it is very very very well done.
! the last scene of the preview, was it Luffy's haki outburst?
! No, we're not up to there yet. This is the scene where Crocodile stops the guards. Luffy's haki outburst is when they try again a second time.
Edit: nvm, I see it in the music thread. :)
I sometimes wonder, if the pace was ok this anime would be 10 times better?
Nice stuff in general but it just draggs with those slow motion shots and repeating…
Which would you prefer: Slow pacing, or filler arcs?
@Cyan:

one piece's filler arcs (pre-water seven) weren't too terrible.
even so, slow pacing.
