I hope that Momonga won't be just a punching bag for Luffy to show us his new strength. Even with the 2 years training Luffy should not be able to kick VA easly.
-
So according to One Piece Wikia, Luffy got that X scar on his chest from when Akainu punched thorugh Jimbei and hit Luffy with his lava fist. Only another reason for Akainu to be the new Fleet Admiral so he and Luffy can have one of the most EPIC fights in the series.
Best new character design award goes to Ussop. When I first saw him I hated his character and his design. Water 7 and Enies Lobbies his character really came out. Now he has a much better looking body even though he's still a scardy cat. He could maybe even intimidate some fodder people who don't know he's a Strawhat. Nami I didn't think she looked that good but now she's gorgeous. Robin I liked her old hair style more but she's still gorgeous. I feel like Brook is turning into a Bob Marley/Prince character which I think is awesome. I finally get to see Sanji's other eye, and that goatee make him look older and more mature. Zoro look's like Rayleigh during Edd War which is great since he was the first mate to the late Pirate King, just like Zoro will be to Luffy. LOL Franky looks like a bald cyber Hulk. Choppper I'm actually disappointed he didn't change much at all, maybe he'll get a form other than Monster Point that makes him intimidating.
Pray that Franky upgraded Sunny these past seven days with a bunch iof Vegapunk weapons, armor, and doodads for a new EPIC Sunny.
Hoping for a quick Luffy vs. Momonga fight to showcase his new abilities after the way Momonga slashed him during the Summit War. Luffy could even dodge a Nami assault with his new mantra. (forgot the actual Haki color and term)
Well if Momonga shows up… I predict Luffy will fight him and Zoro and Sanji will take care of the 2 brothers.
Fodder SHs will be fodderized by the rest of the crew...

i guess we will see …
but Luffy was able to deal with the VA's with out too much effort during the war. Yeah he had to actually try but he wasnt stonewalled by them which makes me think 1v1 he could beat them pre-timeskip
Now shouldnt be as big of an issue =pwnage

I feel like Zoro would fight him, if anyone.
He diffidently won't be. Hes to strong, even before the two years for Luffy to simply beat him, without much effort. Unless he lost all his limbs in the last two years, he shouldn't be weak
-

Did he? I can only remember momonga and the dalmation guy beating him up, I must of forgotten something from that arc.
Anyway I think it might be a bit early in the story for the SH's defeat a vice-admiral.
I also don't think the story is going to have all out fights in this arc either, since it is a reunion arc. Hard to know though, the story can go down a few different paths at the moment.
Still I do get the feeling that Sanji and Zoro will have hard-ish fights against those Marine Hunters brothers. -
Yes, but they don't practice constantly. You saw what Whitebeard did all day, right? The most practice he got in his last 2 years of life was staving off daily assassination attempts from Ace, lol.
Shounen power, once strong always strong. May get a little bit weaker but never hopelessly weak.
As someone else said, these guys trained constantly and faced challenge after challenge in their adventure through the grand line
And unless another TS happens, expect Luff to be the PK when he's 20
I'm not saying Luffy will only be PK when he's in his 40. I was just adding to the though that the strawhats still have a lot of room to grow and improve.
Luffy's a beast, he could be king of the world when is 40. I'm just saying they are young and damn impressive when compared to other characters.@Monkey:
Yeah and everybody will say that Luffy spent 3 chapters fighting someone he could have finished earlier by using Gear 2 and 3 from the start. Same for Zorro and Sanji, now every time they fight we're expecting them to use their EL moves to end their battles.
For me the Gears and the other moves were a great idea at the moment but not in a long-term, That is why I hope that Oda will come up with something new.
Yeah, but people should realize the gears put a giant load of stress in Luffy's body and shorten his lifespan. He's been using them freely because he realizes there was no other way to protect his crewmates. If he can fight stronger opponents without using gears and not risk his crewmates safety, better for him.

Who? Luffy? He was owned in few seconds by vice-admirals…
-
-
Even If we didn't see Luffy's new strength yet I think he's able to win against a VA now, just not easily.
Do you really think that the VA are stronger than the Shichibukai? I don't think so, Luffy nearly got killed but he did win against 2 of them. -

I don't think so, Luffy nearly got killed but he did win against 2 of them.VA is not a level of power, it's a range, perhaps an ample range of power. For example, I can't see Luffy beating Garp yet or Mononga. But there are some that he probably could beat… It's difficult to guess.
-
Luffy was dead tired when he went up against those Vice Admirals.
-

Garp is nowhere close to VA "level" he's declined at least one promotion before, pretty sure he's stronger than the 3 previous admirals.
-
So according to One Piece Wikia…
Everything you say from now on is invalidated.
And if it is, you could watch it there… Unless you would rather not watch it than watch it on youtube.
I could. And I will. But this is not about me. It's letting you guys know about it.
Evidently long before the Oda interview where he talked about his family, this show talked about his first child.
-
What are you talking about Greg? Everything ever written in a wikia is indubitably true.
-
Oh…my bad .
-
VA is certainly a position that's a level of power as far as Marines go.
Garp is the only known exception.
-
@Del:
Who? Luffy? He was owned in few seconds by vice-admirals…
im skimmin the war and he beat the giant VA with gigant rifle
are we assuming the giant VA are weaker than the other VA? or is it he just got lucky with a surprise attack?
-
@Del:

I think you're confusing VAs with Admirals and Shichubaki
-
The VAs were sent into battle against NW Pirates of note.
Pre-TS Luffy ain't better. At best he can bother the lower VAs.
-
@Chopper:

You're assuming all the giant squad are vice admirals.
-
Shounen power, once strong always strong. May get a little bit weaker but never hopelessly weak.
I know THAT much. Look at the post I was responding to, again. All I'm saying is that they didn't get STRONGER in the last many years, Rayleigh included. While I still have NO DOUBT WHATSOEVER that Rayleigh is still much stronger than Luffy, and was already much stronger than Luffy by the time he conquered the grandline under Roger, I think citing his "decades of practice with haki" is kind of invalid, since he certainly didn't have decades of it by the time he conquered the grandline, and he was probably around his peak already by then.
-
They specifically mention Ronse and Lacroix as VA to reinforce how powerful Oars and WB were. Didn't do that for Luffy so its a safe bet his Giant wasn't a VA. His attire only strengthens that idea. Rear Admiral or Commodore makes the most sense.
Doesn't make sense for Luffy to be able to defeat a VA yet. VA are responsible for taking on big name veteran pirates of the New World. Luffy is still a Rookie even if he is a vastly powerful one at this point. No way he is Squado or Doma's level or that would be very lame of Oda.
Can't even use the excuse he was only owned in the war by VAs because he was tired. So were they since they had been fighting on the front lines the entire war.

He was in his 40's by the time he helped conquer the Grand Line.
-

they had also infiltrated an impenetrable prison the day before gotten poisoned by tons of deadly poisons escaped and jumped straight to a massive war…
Same level of exhaustion I'm sure.
-
You're assuming all the giant squad are vice admirals.
wasnt it mentioned that the Giant squad was a VA Giant Squad? (which is why i thought that giant was a VA) …or was this anime filler?
-
Yes those Giants were all Vice Admirals.
-
they all dress similar but it was never stated.
-
Hum unless the translation was off I believe they were called a Giants Vice Admiral squad in the manga aswell, even when that one got owned by WB they said Vice Admiral Rounce or something like that, dont really know if its spelled correctly.
Well atleast that one is.
-
Not all VA's are the same level, so if Luffy was able to take a VA down with one hit doesn't mean he can do so to the rest.
-
The VAs aside from Garp are probably all within the same level.
But there are gaps.
-
@Del:
Who? Luffy? He was owned in few seconds by vice-admirals…
after he had been poisoned by magellan and just got through intense treatment that almost cost him his life and left him in a pool of blood and a deformed body, he then had Emporio Tension Hormone which doesn't delete pain but just numb it, and that was probably starting to wear off, he had been slashed multiple times used gear second three times and gear third once he was kicked around by kizaru he was basically running on fumes
I bet he could put up a good one-on-one fight with a vice admiral before the time skip if he had no prior injuries/handicaps (except garp and maybe tsuru)
I mean gear 2nd gave him abilities to keep up with (and eventually beat) lucci who even the vice admirals had high respect for, and he's beaten two shichibukai, and basically was the turning point the war
-
Luffy was mangled by Croc and used all those shadows to weaken Moria.
Just remember.
-

Just remember.
And at the beginning of the war, the Shichibukai were declared to be the force that may very well mean the difference in the battle of Marines vs. Pirates, when there were already way more VAs than them on the battlefield.
So what's your point? We can all argue in any direction, but it sounds like the Shichibukai are regarded as slightly better than the VAs anyway.
-
@Del:
Who? Luffy? He was owned in few seconds by vice-admirals…
see below
Luffy was dead tired when he went up against those Vice Admirals.
he'd come from ID, having nearly lost his life, lost 10 years of his life, fighting beyond his limits with help from Ivankov's vigor hormones.. but he still did One Punch the giant VA in gear 3rd.
edit: when the VAs in the war beat him down, he had just used Haoshoku and reduced the battlefield count by half [/random number guess] and after saying "those with weak wills step back, this is not just some rookie" a number of VA's ganged up on him. and fought him. together. not one on one. at all.
edit edit: beaten to the punch.
-
Chopper's bounty might break 100.
-
So, um, can we assume that the Color of Observation is Luffy's weak point, considering that he just got done bumping into his (much bigger) fake after a year and a half of intensive training? >.>
-
So I know this is kind off topic, but I think since the fake mugiwara's alerted the marines, we will see the real strawhats fighting it out with the marines. This is where we will see their new powers unleash + it will be a cool way to announce their return to everybody. Now to the main point, I was wondering after these events what do you think the crews new bounty would be?
Here are my predictions:
Luffy=450,000,000
Zoro=280,000,000
sanji=200,000,000
nami=50,000,000
Usopp/sogeking=90,000,000
chopper, might actually get a bounty now? = 75,000, 000
Robin=120,000,000
Franky=160,000,000
Brook=75,000,000I honestly hope we don't see any new bounties for them just yet, this is too much of a joke for the whole crew to get new bounties.
Unless Oda surprises us and brings some serious marines, and those two brothers happen to be strong enough to actually battle some of the weaker SH. -
While a bounty rise would be neat I doubt we will be seeing that until the end of this "reunion" arc. And that's IF they kick some marine's major ass. Like owning some vice-admirals.
-

Unless Oda surprises us and brings some serious marines, and those two brothers happen to be strong enough to actually battle some of the weaker SH.These events won't be the only things that affect the bounty though. The crew hasn't gotten a new bounty for a while now if you really think about it. Thriller Bark, SA, Whitebeard war arc. etc. etc. because the world thought that strawhats were no more. But now they will know different and so we should get new bounties.
-
Nice Chapter! Wooo Thank You, God And Mangastream.
-

and the VA's were fighting NW pirates even before luffy made it to marinford!!
and the giants are a BIG target.

@Kairouseki:
Chopper's bounty might break 100.
Kairouseki you make me laugh. The 100 beri pirate. Wataame daisuki Chopper [Pet].
-
Please welcome…
Databook yellow said that Zoro and Luffy are equal in terms of fighting... End of discussion.
Can anyone provide a link to the databooks?
I've searched the OP wiki and haven't found anything
Really want to read them
