See people… No name change... So some can stop to bitch around.
And what have we learned... Just wair for Aohige next time

I assume people were confused with the English word "name" in the pic.
"name" isn't referring to the name of the series, it's a manga industrial term that means "rough draft".
They're showing the sneak peek of the rough draft of the new arc.
That reminds me, this is an excellent chance to ask (I've been wondering since Bakuman introduced the term to me), is that pronounced na-me, or neimu? I haven't seen the Japanese for it.
Regardless, thanks VERY MUCH for informing us that they aren't adding a subtitle to the rest of the series!
How annoying… Maybe it is till just One Piece... Who knows for god's sake... And even if not... It is still named One Piece just with an addition
2010 Cyan... Don't get too much into it
Cyan is 2010 as well, just saying…
He is one of the rare exception
The thing about the One Piece title was anticlimactic… In a good way, I say. And I'm glad the 24 pages is coming with a color spread. I assumed 598 would, but when I read the thing about 24 pages without a mention of a color spread, I sadly thought there'd be no color spread.
In the first post-timeskip chapter of Naruto there was a color spread, although it the characters on it were pre-timeskip. (And it was a popularity poll anyway, but… yeah.)
So if Oda were to make a color spread with all the characters pre-timeskip, it wouldn't be the first time something like this happened. But if he doesn't, the color spread won't be the first thing I see in the chapter...

It's neemu. No, it's not na-me, it's the English word "name".
Also, sorry to cause confusion. 巻頭カラー just means the manga is at the front of the magazine, and in color.
Doesn't necessary mean the chapter pages will be in color, but we'll see.
I like the little preview for the chapter. Next week can't come soon enough!
Thanks very much on that, Aohige!
So … disaster didn't strike after all?
Good thing Aohige came to the rescure.
That's a terrible reason to not want color pages in the original prints.
How is it a terrible reason? I much prefer printed, purchased material to illegal images I save on my computer, and I don't want the one I pay for ruined. Color pages I'll rather leave to the fans. That's my opinion, anyway.
Would be cool if luffy farted a bit of ambition at the beginning of his training like when krilin in dragon ball tried a kamehameha for the first time in his life.

You're basically saying that the author should lower the quality of the original just to match the eventual mass-production; at the very least, you are suggesting that the fans lower their expectations so that their purchased/archived copies don't look like something is missing. The tanks being in gray-scale doesn't ruin the quality of the product, it just doesn't look as good as it could. A minor, minor setback revolving largely around personal preference while completely discounting the target audience. You should just give up before I throw Al!naJames at you.
Starting this chapter, I will stop reading the spoilers!
…
Wonder how long I will last....
Wouldn't be surprised to see a subtitle for the anime, but I don't think it's happening for the manga.
Also, FUCK YEAH 24 PAGES NEXT WEEK. GET HYPE EVERYONE!
Hype is sold out sir . We do , however , have tampons and safety pins on sale .
And I don't believe anyone can stand not reading the spoiles when they come .

I know a few people that can!! It's just, those are the people that hate spoilers and NEVER read them. Any of the people that regularly read spoilers won't be able to stand not reading them for very long :3

I read atleast 1 or 2 pages (1 or 2 pics, whatever) of it, to make my waiting worth, but sometimes I just read all the spoilers and end commenting about them.

I'm stating my opinion here, and you're talking as if the opposition is fact. I think color pages in a tankoubon is lowering the quality. You said yourself it doesn't look as good as it could, and that's the textbook definition of lower quality.
I like color pages on my computer, sure, but I prior my tankoubon over scans. If they had color pages in the magazine and then printed them in pure (non-grayscale) black and white in the tankoubon, I wouldn't complain. It's just that color pages in the magazine automatically lead to an eventual setback in the tankoubon. That my opinion. <-Pay good attention to this word, because you don't seem to know what it means. I'll say it again, so you don't forget: opinion.
Of course I don't want to kill the joy that is color. The ideal thing would be color pages in Shonen Jump and B&W in the tankoubon. I mean, wouldn't they have the originals somewhere?
I don't mind that little preview page as it's something Oda wanted us to see but seriously people show some discretion next week, some of us don't wanna know beforehand if the crew reunite or not next chapter.
reads last couple of pages
So there isn't a subtitle? Ah, good…..
Can't wait for spoilers!
Why did people get so upset at a simple name change that wasn't actually a name change? Which leads me to another note:
Is there a list of all the official names for each arc up to this point?

Hey, hey, aren't you changing the entire argument here? You asked why people want color pages, claiming they make the volumes look awful. I was the one who brought up lowered quality, backing my point that excluding ("wanting less") color to balance out quality issues is a poor argument. Your choice of words was not 'lower quality', but 'looks awful' and 'ruined'. An alternative option of standard black and white is irrelevant and has nothing to do with the original question: "why do people keep wanting color pages?"

People like to compare and complain. It's unfortunate, but a fact of life.
I think they're afraid that the name change will also mean a decline in the story quality, due to some other series' having experienced this…
Is there a list of all the official names for each arc up to this point?
this thought popped into my head as well
The only way to make a list is to read through SBSs and interviews and check how he refers to Arcs, then list them all out, but I think he refers to them the same way the fans do.
Would this count as a list? (It has up through Thriller Bark, which is before the whole Supernova thing.)
Uh, it says that's the title of the new series (arc), following the last arc "Sea of Survival: The Super Nova Arc"
Iam curious if Oda has named all his arcs in such a special way..
Never heard before of THAT title.
Does someone know how Oda called older arcs ?
I assume people were confused with the English word "name" in the pic.

LOL–You just saved my husband's sanity and repaired a little of his reputation. He was completely confused by that use of the word, and had no idea what they could be talking about. I've been teasing him all day about being officially old now, telling him he must be out of touch with modern Japanese, poor guy. I'll have to tell him it's a manga industry-specific usage with a meaning apart from the usual... soon. I'll tell him soon. :ninja: LOL

Not quite what I meant.

Based on Aohige's translation, there should be a bit more to the title.
"Thanks to all, I was able to rest very well. Thank you for the great time I enjoyed.
My fuel tank is full now!! The New World Arc will be heading towards the end of the story of One Piece.
As I ponder about the new adventures, it's so exciting I feel like I'm starting a new serial!
Please Llook forward to the adventures in the last sea "New World"!
So basically its 1 big final multi-yeared arc to the end of the series? this shall be interesting to read
What name change?!
Since I don't like the idea there could only be one logical explanation to it.
Oda is losing his luster, he's turning into a kishi!

Also, I really dig that sketch of older Luffy in the top left.

I don't really get what those giant gorillas are doing there. Are they feared of Luffy's haki and then Luffy wanted to show to Marguerite(?) how it is on the raging gorilla (or lion I don't know)?
I should stop analysing that sketch.

I'm forced to believe this is a troll attempt … :ninja:
a bad one
plz try again
When Oda says "New World Arc", he means the entire adventure through the New World, like the adventure through the first half of the Grand Line, right?
Maybe a stupid question, but it's a bit odd to refer to almost 500 chapters as a single arc.
The official arc title never came up ever anywhere as far as I know.
So this "Sea of Survival: Super Nova Arc" must be the WSJ editorial's in-house term for the last large arc (Sabaody and on, I guess)
Curious to know what other arc titles they use over there behind the curtains :ninja:
Edit: Actually, I thought I heard this arc title recently, and sure enough it was used very recently.
That second One Piece break special where all the former editors for One Piece were talking
(The one where they revealed about the Super Novas being created and rough draft drawn in 3 hours)
That interview title was in memory of ending Sea of Survival: Super Nova (Rookies) Arc.

Like shoving all 100 first chapters and the arcs within said chapters into the East Blue Arc?
@dirt:

I think most people refer to that as the East Blue Saga.
Yeah…
Just think it's real dumb if just because something you don't like is happening in OP, that makes them believe it's going down hill. I still think it was lame Mihawk training Zoro, but ain't going make me think it's going down hill with all the amazing sub plots he has to work with. So yeah if title changed did happen is stupid to believe it's going down hill because of it...
"plz try again" ? Someones still culatadaño .

I'd say they'd be the names on the site I listed a few posts above. If "Sea of Survival: Supernova Arc" is everything after Thriller Bark but pre-timeskip (I don't know what better place it would be), then "East Blue", "Alabasta", "Skypiea", "Water Seven", and "Thriller Bark" make sense. Why there's a difference in name length, I wouldn't know.
Sarcasm :ninja:

Yeah Firefist was being sarcastic, 99% sure.

please, point out all of my six hundred billion posts where I cried about some fabled name change making One Piece worse
since yanno, I can read Japanese, and knew Bamind is Chinese and is not always the best source for translations

Wait what?
I wasn't saying that, pretty much on the same page on your last sentence.

Maybe a stupid question, but it's a bit odd to refer to almost 500 chapters as a single arc.
I'm pretty sure it will be an arc to INTRODUCE us to the New World through the eyes of the straw hats. It is incredibly unlikely that the arc name will not change while they're already in the new world.
Just to take the edge off everyone, know what Luffy needs?
A piercing.
Pick the place.
hehehe.
:D :D oh boy oh boy!
