@Don:
I meaned it more like during the battle the will to be victorious gets stronger and stronger, and so when youre near being defeated, it could finally surpass the power of your opponents Haki^^ Bending planks was definitely King
s Haki in my eyes…seeing that many pirates their fainted it has to be that kind of Haki.
To take of the explosive neck rings i guess he used Colour of Armements which he used like a weapon.
Kings Haki could be a possibility , because we saw by Shanks that it can also effect material(bending planks), but i guess Colour of Armements is best to use against material in general.
Ah I see–and I think it's interesting idea that a person's will can be stregnthened during battle as the battle rages on. I like it.
As for the second part, yes, I intended the plank bending reference to mean King's Haki, so I agree that it is King's haki that makes that happen, yes (although with the caveat that we still simply do not know--we don't even know if it's possible to use two or more haki colors simultaneously, so while I don't think he was, it's possible that Shanks was bending planks on WB's ship with armanent while he knocked out weak willed opponents with King's at the same time, lol). I would agree that Rayleigh might have used color of armament to open the neck rings. I also think if king's haki can bend planks, it may also be used to manipulate other physical items, (like it did presumedly with the inner workings of the lock on the nck ring), whereas armament seems more of a power that strengthens or "imbues" things with haki, as it were, (at least at this point in time), which seems less precise and elegant in it's application (although that may also depend on the skill and experience of the user). So essentially, I'm leaning toward manipulation of at least small physical items, with the potential to do larger items as well, being one of the here-to-fore unrevealed powers of the king's haki. How cool would that be?!?
Those werent the only moments Luffy was able to hit Enel. For example the final attack was to quick to dodge for him [http://read.mangashare.com/One-Piece/chapter-298/page011.html](http://read.mangashare.com/One-Piece/chapter-298/page011.html) (he says himself.."It
s fast")
or also here it shows that his physical strenght in this moment wasn`t enough to dodge it even when he was able to see the punch coming
http://read.mangashare.com/One-Piece/chapter-281/page018.html
Yes, I can see those times, and I would counter argue that in the one from chapter 281, Enel was already feeling the pain of Luffy's previous punches, so wasn't all that physically able to move out of the way at that point (makes you wonder if he was unused to getting hit at all, given his previous opponents).
The other reference from chapter 298 is more intruiging, because he was using his d/f power to power the metal weapon he had as Luffy's blow was heading his way. There may be some small indication about how much concentration must be exerted in order to use fruit powers or haki powers or the two combined right there, although until we get more info it's still hard to say with any certainty what was going on.
Using d/f and haki powers (or two forms of haki, for that matter) may be something that isn't really possible for most people to use concurrently, which makes the game of d/f vs haki ever so much more interesting! Given that haki is the same as a person's personal ambition/drive etc., and we have had it drilled into us that Luffy's is extraordinary, I will make the prediction that Luffy will be about as skilled at this simultaneous use as anyone by story's end (if, indeed, using two powers (either 2 forms of haki -or- d/f powers and haki) at the same time even turns out to be an issue in the first place)
Kind of..don`t remind me always of those sad sad scenes:happy:
Aw. That's sad. :sad:
Suck it up soldier. This is the NW we're entering, lol. :ninja:
@Motoss:
I don't think that Ashura has anything to do with Haki, honestly. I believe that it is a skill unique to Zoro and his "demonic soul."
Nah. There has been no indication on the story anywhere that people manifest visual "demonic" energy, or anything else of the like, whereas haki has been cannon for some time now.
@Don:
Producing illusions by your opponent seems to be Haki in my eyes.^^
This. ^^Thanks Don for putting it so well.
@davj:
Can some one answer a question for me… Everyone is getting caught up in the "1 in a million thing"... How big exactly do people think the One Piece world is?... (...followed by loads of solid, logical arguments about the prevelence of haki, which has been a topic hotly debated here for months, with many people whining about how common it is...)
Not saying that this is a real theory or anything, it just seems people getting caught up in the "1 in a million" thing is silly... Even if Arabasta was the One Piece world's China equivalent, the largest population in our world, it would still be a shade below a fifth of all humanity... so 50 million would translate to 50 kings haki users... seems like a lot to me, especially since we know of only six or seven confirmed users...
Exactly right on the money! Good solid post. You should post more often.
@freedom:
I agree with you on this and I even extend your theory a little further.
I don't expect any other SHs to learn to utilize haki over the two year time skip. I think it would cheapen the entire concept that Rayleigh is purposely teaching it to Luffy because it takes many years to master. Rayleigh is even saying that two years isn't that much time but he's relying on Luffy's skill, and expecting Luffy to be capable of utilizing all three colors by the end of this time period.
So, if the others can do the same in two years, that just cheapens everything set out for Luffy. At best, Luffy will probably only have a grasp of basic haki by the end of two years and will develop better and more experienced skills over his battles in the New World. So I don't expect Zoro to learn haki just yet. Let alone anyone else in the crew.
Well, that is precisely the reasoning I was arguing at the beginning of this thread, because Oda made such a point, through Rayleigh, of telling us that learning haki takes such concentrated work and training, but after reading a few posts about Mihawk and thinking through what he did during the war, I think Mihawk may use the color of armament to inbue his sword, and I can't imagine he would hold back such vital information from a student such as Zoro, which is why I, uh, changed my mind on that particular issue, there. LOL.
In fact Don's post down below here is saying exactly what I came to believe.
@Don:
Zoros goal is to become the greatest swordman in the OP-world, that
s beside (Luffy's) being the future PK one of the highest positions you can get and many many try to achieve that.
Luffy and Zoro both aim for the top, thats why Zoro is so loyal to Luffy, because when those two make their journey togeather they will have more chances to succeed.
But having such a goal i guess Zoro is the one SH beside Luffy who has to know the basics of Haki.
Reaching his goal acquires to be able to use this technique, which every chara in the NW could have and sure is a technique the strongest have to master.
SO when he wants to be part of those top tiers , i guess he has now the perfect opportunity to learn at least the basics while he`s training with Mihawk.
I agree on most points here, especially about them both getting some basic haki over the break, and mastering haki by story's end, but I'm going to be annoyingly OCD and picky for a moment, and say I agree that one of the reasons Zoro was originally interested in Luffy was because he saw in him a kindred spirit in terms of ambition, but I think there are far deeper reasons at work now to explain why he is so loyal to Luffy at this point in this story.
@freedom:
I expect nothing less from Zoro than becoming a character similar to Rayleigh (though it seems he's going to become more like Mihawk ) Either way, Zoro is to become Luffy's right hand man, and I don't understand how some people don't expect him to be as skilled as his captain. But I'll leave this discussion for a few years from now.
Yes, I do think Zoro is going to acquire haki by the end of the story, and I can see him getting all three (although his lacks in the area of sense of direction may interfere, comically, with his ability to gain full mastery of the color of observation, doncha think?)
