Honestly the people on the OP forums must be incredibly busy…I work, spend time with friends, play video games, take classes in Junior college and have a Girlfriend and I still have more than enough time on my hands to read OP :/. I only sleep 6 or 7 hours a day though so maybe i'm just a freak.
Arlong Park rereads One Piece in 4 weeks

awww i just recently re-read it T_T shudve not done that

College. Serious Stuff, man.
What the fuck is this horse shit?
Did college suddenly become universally shittastic in the past 5 years or are the noobs just vastly unaware of what actually transpires there?
20 chapters a day is a blink.
Kaiolino you rule for breaking it down.
-
It`s a fun read and that should be able to handle in a quick time..
When you have on one day not the time for 20 chaps than read 10 and be happy that you can read the following day 30 chaps..wuhuu -
I'm in. I have been long overdue in rereading pre-grandline One Piece.
-
Hell yeah! That's the spirit! I'm in!
-
@Yonkou#3:
Is it ok if we start partway through? I might be able to do it from next week on but defnitely not this weeks chapters.
I'm not the organizer, but I'm sure it's fine. This is just a helpful schedule for interested parties. Ther are no actual rules to it.
-
Just reread the whole thing recently but still looking forward to the chance to discuss some of the old chapters.
BTW are there any ongoing projects that would appreciate input from a ton of people 'simultaneously' reading OP again. Things like pandaman-appearances, Oda mistakes, quote of the chapter, etc come to mind. I know that a lot has been gathered at www.thegrandline.com or other threads in AP, but just wondering…
-
I'd already planned this. You realize this will be roughly 1.6 hours a day of solid reading.
-
I'll mention this on the 'cast. I like this idea a lot. It'll keep people engaged, we should assign homework to make sure people read it. Now that's some scholastic shit there!
-

I agree. All these guys must be going to become doctors or something. My first year was full of free time, and this year is pretty much guaranteed to be the same.

My biggest problem is that's there no good scans of the old chapters…
I have all the tankos but don't read a letter in japanese...
Have all scanlated chapters in my PC, but the quality of the Alabasta ones are the worst possible...I can't stand reading One Piece in my mother language (brazilian portuguese) since I've been following everything OP related in english...
So, I guess my option is....read the tankos with stephen's translations (never did it, dunno if I would like it...)

I have an idea. Print Stephen's translations out, then cut and paste them onto where they belong. And thus you've just scanlated a japanese tankobon.

That would take months… -_-' We would probably learn japonese faster :ninja:

I'm studying Japanese right now, and I hope you're joking…
-
I'm studying Japanese right now, and I hope you're joking…
It's not that hard.
-
Great idea. I'm in.
-
It's not that hard.
That really depends on each person's learning curve.
But, yeah, if reading 20 chapters of One Piece is hard, college would be hell.
-
What the fuck is this horse shit?
Backed. Assignements are to be done the night before, one chapter out of the 20 books on your recommended reading list will be neccesary, and low attendance at tutorials is expected.
-
I think it would be easier to buy all american volumes too…....
Yeah, it would be easier if I had the money....
-
I'm not sure about the re-read. I JUST did it for the Viz releases, and marathoned Skypeia again the other weekend after we got to talking about it. Skypeia 3 times in 3 months might be a bit much. Two volumes a day is nothing tho, I'll see about joining in, tho I may be coming in late evening on it all.
I'm studying Japanese right now, and I hope you're joking…
It's not that hard.
You need to insult some more people Greg. Get em motivated.
It's surprising what simple things like realizing you can count to ten, or the days of the week, makes you feel a little accomplished. (And in japanese, once you can count to ten, you can count to a hundred. Its awesome like that.)
I've been half assedly studying for about 2 months now and discovering I already know a lot from osmosis… but I'm being incredibly bad about actually putting aside a proper 20 or 30 minutes of study every day. Novels and video games and that work thing and this site and the character tournament are all evil distractions. Still learning though!
-
Read almost 600 chapters in 4 weeks?
It sounds so crazy, that it HAS to work.Oh, what the hell..I'm in.
-
-
Been meaning to re-read Skypiea for quite some time now, might as well go through the whole thing.
Besides, anything to keep me from studying xD
-
Im gonna join on weekends
-
I'll join in, I had to skip to Davy Back Fight Arc to catch up with One Piece.
-
That really depends on each person's learning curve.
Steven Hawking has the learning curve of a race track and that hasn't kept him from attempting to explain space.
Japanese is not that hard. 90% of it is getting over Japanese people telling you it's hard.
-
I'm down like china town!
-
So…..are we gonna schedule this or is this a random reading type of thing?
-
I'm gonna give it a shot. There are certain patches of manga I've never read myself. This is a good excuse to fix that.
-

There's a schedule in the first post actually.

True. After learning basic grammar and daily vocab, it's really just using dictionaries.
But then again, there is the 2000 kanji that needs to learned to obtain high school level proficiency. Plus the various nuances, idioms, and proverbs from a 2000 year old culture.
-
muhahahaha im already at Jaya Arc!
-
muhahahaha im already at Jaya Arc!
Lol, okay. You should have gave everyone Sonic's "You're too slow!!!!" saying.
-
Aww… I totally would have if I was able to buy all of the volumes, but unfortunately that isn't the case.
I really need to be refreshed on Skypeia and Water 7/Enies Lobby as well, I haven't gone through those arcs since around when I joined this forum. D:
-
I better do this or else my signature may stay the same for eternity :ninja:
I started my first year at college two weeks ago and I have way more free time than I did in High school. Except on Tuesdays.
-
I probably should to refresh my memory for upcoming moments that'll require a good memory of older characters.
I guess I'm in too. -
It's really possible but I can't. I'm still busy with my thesis… I would like to graduate somehow.
but like I said totally possible.
So for those who would do this! Good luck! Enjoy~
-
I'll do it because I only started reading the manga after I was up to the current episode in the anime. So this should be good.
-
A group reread is a fun idea, dunno if I can keep up though. I'll give it a shot. Hope to see some good discussion!
-
great idea!!! this way we will not bore ourselves to death…
oh wait..
would you be making a thread per topic?
or will you only be posting it in this thread?
-
Great idea :)
but unfortunalety I can't participate :/
I'll be without computer during first 100 chapters… -

It'll all be in this thread.
Maybe update the topic title (don't know if I can do that though, probably not).
-
Anyone can join this? I'm game. Starting tomorrow, right?
I work during the week, though, so I'll probably read through larger chunks on the weekend than during the week.
-
Yep. We even have a week of time left to spare.
-
I just reread One Piece this year since Viz speeds up the releases.
I guess it won't hurt to do it again, but at a slower pace than the OP :P.
-
Yep. We even have a week of time left to spare.
You mean 578 will be out on September 29?
-
Apparantly, yes. There's a 4 week brain, which means the new chapter will come out in 5 weeks. The spoiler provider was a little vague and most of us though it'd be only 4 weeks before the next chapter.
-
I've been wanting to reread OP. I'm in. Though I also work a lot + school, so I'll be reading larger chunks when I can. Might start now… 6_6;;
