As others have already stated, the current opening song is garbage….and honestly, OP hasn't had a good opening for awhile in my opinion. Considering the Marineford arc is my favorite, and the arc that separates OP from other shonen series', I hope it rocks.

Just out of curiosity, since you said "for awhile" I'm guessing you mean since Kokoro no Chizu or Brand New World, correct?

Personally, I loved Jungle P and Share the World so hopefully One Day will be on that level.

At least Kaze Wo Blah Blah had a decent animation style and reference to the cannon material which still makes it leagues ahead of Crazy Rainbow. Just… the...actual...song :wassat:

According to the words of the people in 2CH, the Lyrics of the new opening song were decided after a careful selection among thousands of keywords and sentences, which "can fill a whole university notebook"! (「1 冊の大学ノートにキーワードや歌詞がぎっしりで歌詞考えたらしい。」) It may be an exaggeration, though.

! In the lyrics, there had been supposed to be a sentence saying that "Your Smiling Face Emerged in the Sky, and That Kind of Future Will Come True from Now On" (「空に君の笑顔浮かべて、そんな未来を今から叶えていこう」) at first. However, these words were modified into "You Should Go on Facing It No Matter How Many Times, For You Don’t Want Precious Things Lost"(「何度も立ち向かい続けよう、大切なもの失いたくないから」) later on.
Because the Marineford Arc is far different from others and it’s full of serious scenes, said one of the One Piece anime stuff, the new opening song will not be vivacious with the theme "dream" and "adventure" like those opening songs before – "protecting what is precious" will be the theme of One Day.

People in 2CH also said that the release date of One Day is delayed for it’s selected to be the new opening song of One Piece anime, and the lyrics might be spoilers in a sense if it were released too early.

Not likely… because they're all split up, the opening will probably put them back together somehow. Otherwise it's just a Luffy montage.

I think they were just lazy. Since Believe doesn't show anything past Little Garden, they were probably going to make an Alabasta-centric one after Chopper joined, but for whatever reason went ''Fuck it.'' and didn't.

I'm not saying there isn't… but I don't find it likely to do an opening without the other crew members. Sure, Luffy has a new team with him, and they'll most likely be showcased too, but I think it'll probably have similar qualities to the current one, as in having crew shots, and then showcasing the upcoming events.

I enjoyed openings like We Are, Believe, and Into the Light. Those were cool for the sake that they showed you the main cast and had little to the plot, so they could be used as long as needed. These newer ones only focus on a small part of One Piece and so they have a shelf life.

Spoiler wise i reckon the animation is going to reveal the army of the kuma clones, akainu's power, Marco's power, Jr Oars and a frame showing Luffy looking up at all three admirals. Hopefully none of the big spoilers like blackbeards crew and the rest of the animation is just gonna show the other guys doing their shizzle

Why hopefully? And it's doubtful that they won't show BB. I mean… the scenes shown in the current opening won't have even occurred while the current opening is still being played. As far as the almost obligatory "glimpse of something quite spoilerish near the end of the opening," I think BB would be perfect, timing-wise and context-wise. Agreed that they shouldn't show the deaths though.

It had no reaction that I can even think of whereas the fallout here was actual 'news' and I don't think it's a coincidence that after ending the agreed upon use of a song by members of one of Japan's most popular variety programs which was bubblegum inspired, despite an arc being about hell, they've gone to a band that screams 'generic boys playing instruments and singing about difficulty in life' band for what looks to be an gasp appropriate opening as opposed to one that's bound to sell CDs to every otaku that jacks off to Yaguchi every night before bed.

Lest we forget BNW was 'ditched' because of the chaotic period the animation was in at the time. You'll notice it's no coincidence that's right when the slot change transpired. Someone must have been royally fucked over by that move and I'm sure contracts were all messed up.

This is an argument I've never understood. Believe was perhaps THE most happy go lucky opening One Piece ever had, yet I never saw anybody complain that it ruined the mood of the tragedy that a civil war was in the making.

Well that sounds like good explenation for why BNW was ditched. Still, the anime doesn't strike as having really improved since then. With some very pleasant exceptions here and then what the anime seems to be lacking nowadays

My favorite opening is Map of the Heart . I like that they're going to have lyrics actually related to what's going on, though stuff like that always ends up sounding cheesy. Can't wait for it, any guess on when it should be out?

Well it's not like any of us will know what they're saying anyways (with the exception of some). Even if they insert random english words into the song (which almost all japanese songs do actually…), it's all good as long as they don't yell out crazy rainbow star into the heavens again.

Fans should be outraged that Toei is probably making the show for pittance and raking in a fucking fortune. This has bothered me for 4 years now but, as opposed to the opening, there's literally nothing that can be done about it.

I disagree with this 100%. While some may say the anime is nowhere near as good as manga, and therefore, sucks. I love the anime, I look forward to watching every episode, and aside from some filler have never thought that there was a truly terrible looking episode, or one that was badly directed to the point of me hating it. Bleach on the other hand, has some TRULY terrible looking episodes, to the point that the way the characters look is off-putting (Ichigo having a tiny arm, colors messed up, etc). People complaining about One Piece as an anime need to realize that compared to 90% of anime that comes out (sorry, I might be biased because everything is harem, sci-fi, or vampire garbage, and the days of stuff like Bebop and Trigun are over) One Piece is a masterpiece, at least in my opinion.

As for the opening, I hope it's out today, being able to hear it before it gets released would be pretty awesome.
