Frieza certainly doesn't sound like that in my copy of Supersonic Warriors 2. Not as gremlin-y, though granted the only dialogue in that game are attack names and one-liners.

Most of Freiza's minions were pretty boys, and they HAD to get it from somewhere.
Only Zarbon was the pretty boy. o_o Everyone else was rather alien-ish looking.

Yeah, but they're the names that got brought over widely. I know that essentially Ginyu was milk, Recoome was cream, Guldo was yogurt, Burter was butter, and Jeice was… something, but just dropping the names.

Each member of the squad is named for a dairy product. The Special-Squad itself (特戦隊/toku-sentai in Japanese) is named after the Super Sentai series, a genre of Japanese children's television programs that feature teams of costumed superheroes battling monsters. These shows are produced by Toei, owner of Toei Animation, the animation studio responsible for DragonBall, DragonBall Z, and DragonBall GT. Footage from Japanese sentai shows were edited, dubbed, and combined with new footage of American actors to create Power Rangers. Sentai shows typically feature teams of five costumed heroes, each one a different color, who fight using elaborate poses that originated in Kabuki theater. I always found Toriyama's naming conventions to be a liiittle on the realy silly side .
When the series was stil in it's pre saiyan-ish phase , it was okay , but it seems out of place .
Anyways always wanted to ask : Freeza's third form , how many chapters of the manga actualy cover it (if any at all) ? I was shocked how given how much they extend every thing they showcased it in a grand total of one single episode .

It's "Freeza", not "Frieza".Why is this such a big recurring issue for you that you feel the need to point it out every single time it comes up?
It was translated and spelled here first as Frieza. In the show, games, and merchandising, and it is the COPYRIGHTED name stateside. Its how most of us learned it and wrote it for over a decade, its pretty much the same spelling, and you know who is being talked about.

Zoro/Zolo isn't really an apt comparison because they had it right as Zoro originally, its on his wanted posters, and then they changed it to match the 4kids dub, or legal set down an edict or something. "No swordsman with the name Zoro". So that was them getting it right first, then changing it to be wrong later. Thats a different kind of stupid… but its not really an apt comparison.

If you had problems with Hercule/Satan that would at least be understandable... but thats also a stupid argument because you have to understand why a character named "Satan" is never going to fly in a children's series.

Actually, "Frieze" as in the architecture form, IS pronounced exactly the same way, "freez". Loses the refrigerator pun a bit, but it doesn't change the pronunciation.

Which still doesn't deal with the media representation of the name stateside, the copyright or the fact it doesn't change the pronunciation at all.
Or that my official Dragonball Forever All Bouts and Characters book says, along with "Freeza" we should be translating the names as "Gokou", "Begeta" and "Klilyn".
I really don't care either way and I know full well Freeza is correct, I'm just curious as to why its so consistently an issue for Demon Rin that it gets brought up seemingly every other week. Just a personal pet peeve?

I said I'd completely understand if there was a consistent gripe about THAT name change, as opposed to the I or E in Frieza/Freeza.
I also said there was no way in hfil it was EVER going to make it stateside intact, since there's a whole plethora of context behind it completely not related to the spelling, and that's a name change that was just inevitable in stateside translations meant for the broad public. Not that it was right.
There's a huge gulf of difference between translated grammar semantics and censorship. And I'd understand complaints about the later.

As a matter of fact, I DO have a problem with the continued use of that term. I understand why they had to do it on TV for the TV broadcast, but the fact that they shoehorned "Hercule Satan" into the uncut DVD Dub is moronic beyond belief.

It doesn't sound like a double standard when you take into account that, Every single official Japanese source and Every single official American source before FUNi started in-house dubbing the show during Season 3 spells it "Freeza" without fail, and Teach's name has yet to be written in English by anyone on the Japanese side of production. But FUNi ended up spelling it "Teach" so there is no more issue here.

I've never read the manga, but I did watch the animated series as a kid. I remember I loved to watch Dragon Ball, it was funny and it was more adventure oriented than anything else, then DBZ came in and I just didn't like it anymore. I thought the whole Saiyan transformation was pretty annoying, especially the 10 episodes long fights, I hated Freezer/Freeza/ Friezar, Cell and the other pink guy. And then I never bothered to watch DBGT.
