The gold eyepatch rubs me the wrong way. It makes me feel like it's "gold" tin foil, sorta like the tin foil on the lids of some yogurts.
I'm liking the look of their suits, though.

Odin doesn't look as grizzled as he should be. The way he is now, he looks like Santa Clause with bling.
Its a very Adi Granov Nova/Iron Man look.

And yet not very Adi Granov Thor-like at all.

This and Eric Bana not continuing to work with the Avengers projects does not bode well.
I've already lost most of my expectations and will be satisfied with another Daredevil, just so I can see that hammer light up the sky.

It was actually Eward Norton. I thought he did a better job than Eric Bana. It's rumored right now that Mark Ruffalo might take Norton's place.
The suits look great, aside from the gold eyepatch.
Loki had better wear his fucking horns in the movie, though.
Then his gonna get his horny look.

Yes, I'm sorry I think the sun has really messed up my memory in terms of names and dates and etc.
Norton leaving is what makes me lose hope, Ruffalo is a good actor, but he doesn't work as the 70's TV show Hulk. He works as the boy band with lead singer RDJ.
Honestly, aside from RDJ, can any of these guys be considered.. I dunno, well respected within the acting community? Without Norton, this becomes the RDJ show, and no offense to him, I love his movies, but Avengers shouldn't be Iron Man centric.
Unless you actually beleive that Fury will have a leading role that extends beyond the helicarrier.
LOKI.
Not as awesome as the horns he has in the comics, but still. Loki. HORNS.

Robert Downey Jr. being the biggest name in the movie doesn't mean that Avengers will be Iron Man 2.5.

My day has been made.

Probably would've looked okay but Anthony Hopkins' eyepatch is just so tacky
WTF is this?? Anthony Hopkins in full metal-plated armor with a golden eyepatch?… A future space gaylord?
Ahh no oh wait ah yes it's just Odin, the leader of souls. OF COURSE. It's just that I remembered him being this slick dude with an attitude dressed in robes with his pet ravens, not a... well... Marvel character xD
Besides That, I'm actually looking forward to seeing this film.
I feel that the some of those asgardian guard in the pic need to build more mass. Not to be fat but more muscle bulk. They look more like elven soldiers than norse warriors imo.

Don't forget that at least Volstagg will need to be fat, otherwise I definitely agree with you.
@Green:
Awesome pictures! :)
The five-minute Comic-Con trailer has been shown.

"Is it one of Stark's?"
Well, I really know nothing about Thor. Never read the comic. The idea is a stranger one for Hollywood to deal with, but they've done well with the rest of their comic hero movies so far. The trailer looks cool, though I feel like I already know the whole story (I assume most comic-con viewers did though).
I want to see this movie SO BAD.
My interest level just shot past eight thousand.
The Infinity Gauntlet was apparently on display if the article is to be believed, so maybe Thanos as the villain for the Avengers movie?

I found an article with a video of the cast commenting on the comic-con sneek peek. Natalie Portman talked about the 3D too.

I see that as a definite possibility too. Although it might be hard for them to do story-wise because in the Infinity Gauntlet comics they needed the whole Marvel Universe to take down Thanos. I still think Loki is a strong possibility also for the villain.
Why is this taking so long to be released?
@Zender:

It's coming out in May 2011.
@Green:
HOLY SHIT!
THOSE ARMS! Is that even possible?

Chris Hemsworth hasn't been in too much. The one movie I've seen that he was in was Perfect Getaway, and his character was great. He's not a bad actor.
Never heard of Ruffalo, though I've seen some of the movies he has been in. Doesn't look half bad though.
Chris Evans, though I adore him for all the wrong reasons, hasn't really gotten the chance to prove himself. A lot of his movies thus far have required him to play pretty much the same role. But he has a lot of acting behind him. He's done Broadway, he's recieved a shit load of a praise from Scott Pilgrim (which might not be considered much), and is a pretty nice and flexible guy. However, I think there are several better options for Captain America.
My only REAL issue with the cast is Scarlett Johansen. I adore her in many ways, but she just doesn't pull off Natasha Romanov.
LOKI.

Wow. They just made Loki look awesome. I have gained faith for this movie.
Finally.
I did not know that Kenneth Branagh was directing this movie. Mr. Shakespeare-lover doing Marvel movies, hmm . . . . .
Should be interesting.
The trailer looks better than the stills, and I'm getting my hopes up that the story isn't mediocre.
The "Oh no, this is Earth isn't it?" line was awesome.
New trailer.

Dang, this film's looking better and better. Nice to see Loki with horns, too.
@Green:
Eh, Anthony Hopkins isn't a bad actor at all, but I still say Brian Blessed captures the usual look of a Viking down to par.
That said, I'm still going to go see it a few days after it premeirs.
New Trailer rooooocks, I love the dinner scene where he just tosses the cup to the ground in viking fashion, awesome stuff.
Yeah, the diner scene is pretty awesome.
I also love the "You dare threaten me, Thor, with so puny a wea-" TASERED
New trailer.

I lol'd when he threw down coffee cup.
I've been waiting for this movie for a long time. It's going to be pretty damn epic!
Just a few more months…
I've never read any of the Thor comics, so I'm coming into this with a clean slate. Still looks awesome, though.
Oh you should totally read J Michael Straczynski's run on Thor even if you want to wait after the movie to do so, it is the best characterization of Thor in comics history.

@ 1:45 of that clip. I saw some asgardians on the background. The way they were shown in contrast to regular humans, their costumes look terrible and shabby. I did not get the asgardian vibe from them. It makes me worry about this movie.

I think the asgardians you saw in the back were the Warriors Three (Fandral, Volstagg, and Hogun). It could be that they were holding off the Destroyer before Thor got there, and if they were in a fight, their costumes being messed up doesn't seem implausible. I think it'll all work out.
Something interesting I found:
I was looking up the Thor cast on IMDB, and apparently Travis Willingham (the voice of Ace in the Funi version of OP and the voice of Guile in SFIV) is playing an uncredited frost giant in the movie.
Here's the links on that:

I already put that into consideration but even putting the fighting prior to that in the equation, their costumes still look like a bunch of cosplayers with badly made costumes.
Just got back from seeing it and man i dare say that it's THE best filmatisation of a comic that i have ever seen. I have never seen a director make a comic book movie that's so true to the source material, and still so able to stand on it's own to feet. The action, the visuals, the spectacle of the whole thing so perfectly balanced with the softer side of it all, the personal growth and relations betwenn the characters it's all so beautifully played out.
The personal growth of Thor especially is allowed to take up as much times as it needs, and i love Brannaguh for letting it do so. And with the way Chris Hemsworth plays him he could've made me belive he truly was of royal bearing, heck everyone bears up their part in this movie, especially the warriors three, but Chris is really showing us that he's a star in the making. His humbling over the course of the movie, the realness of it pushes him up there to rival Robert Downey jr.
It's the best summer movie of the year, best comic book movie of the year, one of the best adaptions of all time. God i have to stop or else i'll just keep stacking the accolades all day. In summation go see this movie!

Thor's getting a lot of positive from critics and Chris is definitely making the movie. So far so good Marvel
Marvel has really been on a roll lately. Each subsequentmovie is better than the last.
Urgh, NEED to go see this. I'm sure I can convince my friend to go see it with me next weekend (I hope)

Really? From what I've heard Thor's change of attitude comes too quick in the movie.

Way to overrate a movie there. It's not even summer and there's still three superhero movies to come out. And all of them look incredibly promising.
Thor was great. It had awesome characters made even better by the incredibly stellar acting, a fun story with a lot of goofiness and great heart. The action scenes are just a cherry on top of it. Overall, I'd give it an 8.5 out of 10. But one of the best adaptions of all time? No. Just no. Batman Begins, Dark Knight, Iron Man, Spider-Man 2 and X2 were all better.
Just wrote what i felt there. But if any of the upcoming movies of the summer tops Thor nobody will be happier than me. Still i doubt it.
As for best adaption, it definitley beats out Spidey 2 and X2 with ease. Those two were to me movies based on comic books, while Thor was a thor comic in movie form. And while Ironman was my favorite of the marvel flicks and comic book movies in general it still wasn't as spectacular or accurate to the source material as i felt Thor was. And heck what really tipped it over in favor for Thor was that that movie had Bridges and Downey jr in the big roles, while this one made do with lesser stars and still came out as great. But yeah most people would probably disagree with me on that.
As for the batman movies i haven't read enough of batman to know how accurate it was, but looking at them as pure movies i'd watch Thor over either of the batman movies.
Really? From what I've heard Thor's change of attitude comes too quick in the movie.
He came full circle around the last half hour or so. Not what i would call stressed when the movie was barely two hours.
Really? From what I've heard Thor's change of attitude comes too quick in the movie.
This is the main criticism I hear about the movie, but I'm gonna have to see it for myself.
I'm glad a lot of people are liking this movie, I'm really happy that Marvel's been stepping up their game with their movies. Captain America's gonna have a lot to live up to, and that shouldn't be a problem.
I'm gonna see this at midnight with some friends (it was their idea… I hardly ever go to midnight showings). A great way to end the semester.
I have my ticket for the midnight showing right here, and I am stoked.
Was considering buying one of those Mjolnir toys, but eh. Wearing a Thor shirt is more than enough.
Hmmmm, good to hear.
Now I can go without admitting I'm just going for the eye candy.

You make me proud, Satsuki. You make me proud.
But honestly, I wanted to see this movie regardless of eye candy. Though it helps.
