I never got the appeal for, or watch CGI or animated films - but I'm actually looking forward to the Smurf one coming up. It has Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays as Humans, and people like John Oliver and Katy Perry voicing Smurfs. Sounds good, and I like the animation.

My mother is a Childminder and she took a 2 year old, 3 year old and 7 year old to see Yogi today. Even THEY thought it was shit.
You know a kids film is dire when even kids hate it.
Childminding is what you guys call it, eh? That's actually much more accurate than our Babysitting. Most of the time they're older than infants and we definitely don't sit on them.

Oh god I think I remember that one.
I loved it when I saw the trailer:
"Yogi sounds like Dan Akroyd doing a fucking awful impression of Yogi Bear"STARRING DAN AKROYD.
…oh.

The whole thing is out on youtube.
If you want to torture yourself that is…...

Oh I think two of the three movies with Yogi are prety horrid.

What's most creepy about that second link is the clones don't even look like they're from space.
-
I keep hearing about this "alt ending" where Booboo shoots Yogi, was it real?
-
^ No .

^ No .
He's lying. You can find it on Youtube if it's still on there.
Edit:There it is. Ignore the word "parody". :ninja:

They're about as much from space as the clones of Fred in that old episodes with the mumbling alien.

Why? Oh God, why?!! Hollywood just won't quit making this shit.
-
As I said, looking forward to it. The cast looks great.
-
But why is Katy Perry even in this movie?

Katy Perry was pretty fun in HIMYM actually, so there might still be some hope.

…...I'm a horrible human being......
Me: The Smurfs? That's going to be a piece of shit.
trailer shows that Katy Perry voices Smurfette and Jayma Mays
Me: CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT!Me: Hop? Pff. Not even Russel Brand can convince me to watch that piece of crap.
trailer shows James Marsden
Me: I WILL WATCH THIS WITH UNLIMITED ENJOYMENT!Me: Gnomeo and Juliet? Seriously? What the fuck?
finds out that the entire movie is played toward Elton John music
Me: I NEED THIS MOVIE TO LIVE!At least Anna Faris didn't convince me to watch Yogi Bear. Although, that romantic comedy with both ANNA FARIS AND CHRIS EVANS…..I'm all over that.
-
James Marsters convinced me to watch Dragon Ball Evolution. And I greatly enjoyed his five minutes of screentime. The other 85 minutes however…
-
What is this fictitious film "Dragon Ball Evolution" you speak of.
-
Bad bad bad fanfiction.
Also, I'm going to wait for my more
masochisticmovie oriented friends to give me a decision of whether or not I should see Smurfs. My initial impression is definitely not positive though. -
I fear this movie's overusage of the word "smurf".
"Son of a smurf!" "Shut the smurf up!" "Go suck a smurf!" "You mothersmurfer!" "I just smurfed that chick right in the smurf."
-
"Smurfs" was a already kind of a dumb cartoon in the first place, this just looks like a different type of dumb.

Reminds me of the 2003 TMNT where they always used terms such as "What the shell!?" and "Have a shell of a time." Though it was a bit more clever since you get another word if you take the 's' in shell out.

Well? Where's the reaction poster? And why are there so many banned guys on here?

I'm a great fan of the Smurfs, but this is… just ugly. The smurfs were never meant to be in a live action film, they're perfectly fine as cartoon characters.
And to think I always wanted to meet the Smurfs in real life when I was younger... meh...
Edit: Also, who the hell is that Scottish smurf? I can't remember him...
-

Probably tossed in there for comic relief. And to piss off the Scots.

I thought it was because they didn't have enough smurfs to choose from…
-
John Oliver (Duncan; Community) is in there somewhere.

Scottish smurf ?
So is there a Frenchie Smurf who likes Jerry Lewis, and a Kraut Smurf who loves to incinerate jews ?
-
Let's hope there's not.
I see at least six Smurfs in the trailer.
Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Scot Smurf, Brainy, the rest I forget. -

Don't tell me Scott Smurf is there instead of him… -
Where's Hefty Smurf???
-
Hey, where's Hefty? I thought he was the most "famous" smurf next to Papa Smurf and Smurfette.
Don't tell me Scott Smurf is there instead of him…I thought the fame chart went;
Papa Smurf/Smurfette
Brainy
Jokey/Hefty/Vanity
Everyone Else
Grandma/SassetteWait Wait, according to the all knowing Wikipedia;
Scottish Smurf = Gutsy Smurf
and then there Panicky Smurf…? A smurf who panics and runs at all situations... if I remember the cartoon right isn't that just generic smurf? -
Also I coincidentaly just began to casualy watch the TV series again.
That is while I'm waiting for the sports and VIP news to end.
A lot more shit going on there then I previously thought. Though the Smurfs themselves…..meh gimme prime Asterix and Obelix any day.
-
I don't think I saw Hefty. Was he in the box?
Wait….why do I care?
-
There's a Smurf thread you know, though it probably ought to be merged with this one since this has the better title. Plus we can always use this one for whenever the next CG abomination comes around. Here's the Smurf thread: http://www.apforums.net/showthread.php?t=26219
-
I think it would be smarter to keep more 'General' threads, unless the movie is completely worth it. The Smurfs are not worth it.
If they came out and said, "We're making a live action movie of Jem, and there will be blood, sweat, and tears brought to this movie, and it will be Oscar worthy", THEN I would consider a movie being worth it's own thread.
-
Also, who the hell is that Scottish smurf? I can't remember him…
That is Shrek-ey Smurf, who was conceived in the studio demographic focus group once they noticed that a similarly accented ogre of the Dreamworks movies netted over $1 billion in franchising. Sony figures that the Smurfs brand alone isn't enough to carry the picture.
Yeah, the film looks very stupid (in a lazy sort of way), but what is seriously up with those character designs? Did they have to look so smooth and Spongey that it looks like they came straight out of Gumby? They don't even look cute–at least that cuteness was able to carry the Alvin and the Chipmunks movies. The Smurfs here look embarassingly cheap as is their interaction with their real surroundings.
The only real inspiration so far is Hank Azaria as Gargamel. I never imagined Gargamel as a Yid up until now and its eerie just how well it fits.

S](http://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/hong-kong-phooey-movie-20510/)orry Eddie Murphey, I doubt you can really pull off a good Scatman Crothers, since you sound exactly the same in every character role you've ever done.
Besides, do we really need B-list characters as movies now? What's next, Fangface? Jabberjaw?
Not to diss Hong Kong Phooey, I actually liked that show.
-
And once again, my hatred towards Hollywood grows stronger with each passing day.
-
Oh, I heard about this. Sounds bad. Why on earth Eddie Murphy? springs to mind too.
But other than that I don't really care too much. I don't have to watch it if I don't want to.
-
I can't remember a good movie(post-dream girls) that Eddie Murphy has been in. Its pretty sad Murphy's career has ended up like this, now there's no turning back for him.
He still hasn't redeemed himself from Norbit, and most likely never will. -

-
I remember liking Hong Kong Phooey as well. I never realized it was a short show (16 episodes). Wow. Although, it being made into a movie? Really?? I don't think it'll be a good movie.
-

He still hasn't redeemed himself from Norbit, and most likely never will.Well, I'd say Tower Heist might be a slight step in the right direction http://www.dailyactor.com/2011/07/trailer-tower-heist-starring-ben-stiller-eddie-murphy-casey-affleck-matthew-broderick-michael-pena-gabourey-sidibe/ Looks like a fun cast, at least.
But anyway….I don't see how HKP has a big enough recognition factor to warrant a movie. He's no Yogi Bear, even though he's a lot more fun as a character.
-
I want to complain, but I didn't even hate the Yogi Bear movie until I saw the IN YOUR FACE 3-D trailer.
Hell, I didn't even notice when it was released. Aside from the thread about it and the trailer, it didn't seem to exist at all. With luck, this might be a repeat of that for me. -
lol bring on the Jabber Jaw movie, that would be an awesome disaster,
-
All these Hanna-Barbera movies, yet 1994's The Flintstones is still the only one I feel actually worked (Scooby Doo was kinda fun, but…eh.). Yeesh.
But I can't help wondering, why the hell Hollywood isn't using one of HB's biggest 'toons that features actual human main characters. Y'know, The Jetsons? I admit I'd actually watch a live-action Jetsons movie, and they'd still get their precious CGI characters with Astro and Rosie…
