@Lordzeb121:
As evident by Lafitte and Captain Morgan the Marines know the difference between an officer who is corrupt or abusive of his/her powers. Obviously his actions on Ohara were approved as he was not only stripped of his rank but latter promoted.
What is that supposed to mean? Just because the government approved of what he did doesn't make it right.
Akainu does his job well. People sleep safely at night knowing that if ever a pirate were to show up and Akainu was around that pirate wouldn't last very long.
What about the people that get killed because they're in his way? And what about the innocent people who he kills just because he or the government disagree with them?
He brings peace to world and even if you don't like his methods they are necessary.
Necessary for what? What good is he doing? Killing people who only wanted to try to enlighten themselves and the world with knowledge that everyone deserves to know? Trying his hardest to kill the "chosen one" just because he'll eventually find One Piece and destabilize the horrible World Government?
Would you prefer Aokiji who twice left luffy simply get away. Or Kizaru who goofed off and failed to kill him. Because of that luffy was able to free 241 criminals from prison and release them out into the world. YAY LUFFY! I guess Magellan was bloodthirsty too when he refused to let any of them get away huh? He was just as "bad" if not worse than Akainuā¦he should've just let all those prisoners go free...
At least Magellan probably doesn't kill innocent people (although Impel Down's extreme torture is kind of iffy because what happens if someone innocent gets thrown down there?)
@AdmiralYonkouMt.Bandit:
Where did the manga say what you claim? Then Spandine? Dude is just a lame given power. You also don't seem to know what evil isā¦.
What I'm saying is:
1. In the last chapter, Coby, Smoker, and Tashigi all observe that the Marines are just acting on bloodlust now. Considering Oda's style, we can assume this is meant to be fact and not just their opinion. Just after they say this, we see Akainu holding down a pirate, burning him to death, and screaming about how all evil pirates must die with an insane look on his face. Then, on that same page, we see Blackbeard ranting about how incredible his new power is. Akainu and the Marines are obviously being compared to Blackbeard who is pretty horrible.
2. Spandine was horrified by Akainu's actions. You're right, Spandine is just a lame guy given power, but even a pathetic, evil person like him was horrified by Akainu.
I seriously don't get you. Are you trolling? One Piece is pulling out all the stops to make Akainu look as evil and insane as possible. He's far beyond any kind of "gray area' at this point. No one in the manga is even attempting to justify his actions, nor have they ever done so. Saying he's good is about as logical as saying T-Bone is an evil monster who will ruthlessly hunt down and kill anyone he deems to be evil.
@Lordzeb121:
Also Akainu has so far done nothing incredibly evil. He destroyed a refugee ship killing hundreds because it threatened to compromise a mission that would have saved millions(poneglyphs=super weapon=bad).
From what it looks like, that's not even really the reason the government wanted the scholars dead. But even if it was only to keep the ancient weapons under wraps, killing all of the scholars preemptively is disturbingly paranoid and killing all of the civilians on board is wasteful. The government has limitless power over these people; there was no reason they couldn't have ran through the refugees with a fine-toothed comb and pick out anyone with "dangerous" knowledge. Akainu had no reason to fire on that ship.
I hope you go to sea and get kidnapped by pirates and then we'll see how you react when the Navy shows upā¦
Okay, well, have fun getting nuked when some guy four blocks down from your house learns that your government isn't a pure bastion of justice. Is there any point in making ad hominem attacks like that? All it does is make your own argument look worse.
