      @RobZilla:

      Tbh, I just see their strength in the NW after 2 years being pretty equivalent to their strength in paradise in the first half of the story.The trajectory of natural training in the NW will probably be roughly equivalent to how it was in paradise.Start off with easier enemies (Lower Baroque Agents - > New Fishman Pirates)The occasional tricky opponent who can't be beaten with just raw strength (Mr.3 - > Caesar)Harder opponents, the first real test (higher up Baroque agents, Croc -> Donquixote family, Doffy)Eventually moving up to much tougher tests that take everything to overcome (CP9, Moria -> Yonko)

      I would love it if it happened that way. My current worry being that 2Y of training meaning they won't get defeated until some given time in couple of arcs. As long as growth is allowed in the NW from arc to arc is equivalent to first part then great. I do recall them having it very easy at first due to their previous training (for Luffy that was a decade worth of training). Oda will have to at first show us the complete set of powers and then invent new ones along the way from various islands and arcs (maybe even DF weapon based on how man-made DF is being pushed here).

      @RobZilla:

      The SH's were shown to be so far out of their league though, that something as short as a 6 month time skip would have made no sense.

      Not if you imagine their whole voyage since east blue was 6 months. The problem with 2Y time skip is that now if they go on for 6months to a year until they reach the end of NW their relative strength will always be limited by the fact that they reached the current level after 2 years of pure training with guidance. If they can defeat Crocodile in first half, 6 months should be enough for the others. And by the looks of it the emperors are not going to be taken down 1v1. In fact a second time skip after they enter NW would have been much better to create space between exciting FI and early NW dangers and taking on big pirates in NW.What we now have is 2Y training, some level reached, using their current strength to fight and probably win marginally then a jump in strength that usually comes after these arcs, but the last bit won't make any sense, a week in DR shouldn't give them that much strength relative to their currently level nor should 3-6 months in NW either. I'm talking from RPG point of view, if you spend 2 hours training and you gain a lot in the next hour relative to those two hours, then you spent way too long training. The only solution to that being that the first 1 hour is filled with relatively weak opponents that won't test you much, which is what I'm afraid is going to happen (already happened).

      Decreased the 2Y time skip to 6 months, that way an arc or two and they can get stronger than at this point. The 2Y time skip forces Oda to make sure the SH don't meet any big shot without alliances and other crap that slows down the story progression. 6months is enough to still make FI interesting (they aren't competing with NW/SN guys), they can get couple of victories and defeats etc. Move on to the next arc and again abandon all commonsense and just go after the first major guy. Instead we are left with careful balancing of power levels and making sure the guys who spent 2 years training don't get easily defeated. We go from free adventure that holds risks to safe voyage with theme park islands that are already planned for. Hody beating Zoro would have been fine (if he fought back etc.), Sanji getting absolutely beat by Vergo before another mid-arc rest that builds toward them going to DR. Smoker actually going to DR to have a proper fight again DD, and Law being interesting reveal (undecided of who to fight) when they finally make it to DD. So much more interesting than being overprotective of the main characters and maintaining power levels.

    • RE: Hunter x Hunter II

      @kouch_lee:

      Last week a nice fella from 4chan (I think it was 4chan, at least) made a much, much, much better translation. I guess we could expect that to happen again.

      Waiting for that too.

      The scene is supposed to build upto both the V5 members comment about "using hunter association like this" and Ging comments on Pariston toying with the hunter association.
      From the scene you have zodiacs who are asked by Isaac Netero to have the association be the forefront in this new discovery, they have their hunters pride in that they don't want to imprison their competitor (Netero says they must get there before Beyond) and the V5/6 using them as pawns in order to do their "business".

      There is little Togashi loves more than exploring greed, politics and motivation, he creates characters that can act on their own later. So in this we have V5 who are treating the calamaties as nothing more than rumour (and even spreading propaganda possibly, if the TV station wasn't Kakins) if it means that they will gain wealth of this new continent (old V5 guy saying foot the bill and wait for results). Again NW and DC are names of Africa and America, the colonization and exploitation of the natural resources and how wealthy it made the participants. V6 will explore this new continent due to Kakins pursuit (think Gol D Rogers declaration, it can't be undone), but they will do it in their sneaky ways by going along with parts of it and derailing other parts. Beyond will still get his travel (he was the one who pushed Kakin into believing they could pull it off), but the V6 will think it's under their conditions (his capture and negotiation are all planned by him), however V5 has decided that the having millions of humans going there is too much so they will just chose a fake continent for them to settle in. Kakin is doing it for the sake of his country, getting all that wealth etc. they will accept joining V5 and also Beyonds role, but they will probably not accept to limit the travelers.

      Beyond plans everything and he is exposing his hand here, explaining how the different conditions lead to the outcome. Cheadle is naive (always portrayed that way) and believes there are some rules that will be enforced and in the V5. He explains their role in this and motivations etc. but if it comes from him (don't forget character naration is not true in HxH, it's their observation) it will be speculation, so he explains it to her while we find it out directly from the blonde guy.

      The blonde guy goes through "common facts" that readers aren't awarre of, updating us on the previous chapter in just how awesome DC is. The blonde guy is essensially the narator for Beyond, saying everything that has been predicted by him, Cheadle is supposed to be the one who is being persuaded in this conversation when the prisoner is Beyond.

      This is all useless in the short term as you know Hunters hunt for something and motivated by something else, Togashi wants to build the world the next are will explore and the characters involved. Pariston and Ging are easy to understand, but some reluctant hunter will also be going, this chapter explains their motivation. Without NGL exploration we wouldn't understand how modern world in HxH could not get information on the ants. Or why the Hunter association failed to send the right guys causing more problems for Neteros group. Or how the development of the ants (which starts from a little hill) gives us insight into their downfall.

    • RE: Toriko II: Ichiryuu's Slimy Insides!!

      ! Toriko and Midora are 'allies' now given what Ichi said about "the real enemy", would be very pointless to use weeks to develop that story and the nature of their relationship. It's better if we just move on with brief flashback and directly to the action. No way Komatsu escapes except under Midoras mercy. We will probably also see a more friendly Bishokukai, afterall Midora "lost" the war and it was built up to his good nature. There is probably a condition for Komatsus release, or at least and assumption, they are in GW and so are the other 3 kings. If not that, then Toriko would have invaded them and saved Komatsu while Midora and co were away, but that would make their whole organization incompetent.

      Welfrin (?) meeting Meryem, Squid dreaming of becoming Octopus and heroics, Novu seeing the Royal guards for the first time. Gon waiting game, all the fights with the royal guards. That invisible lizard ant. The smoke pipe guy and his first fight with surfer lion. Lot of cool fights to be honest. Oh and any scene killua is in, my favorite character in the CA arc after Knuckle.

      Xeno zoldyck unsleashing his dragon attack is one of the coolest scenes in the whole manga.

      Togashi is excellent story teller, foreshadowing future dilemmas that won't come into play until the end of the arc. Tricking us into letting down our guards after Gon and Killua do their part, just to increase the shock factor.

      Can't wait for the whole series to be animated, it just increases the experience when you don't have to read poorly drawn chapters.

    • RE: Toriko II: Ichiryuu's Slimy Insides!!

      The only comparison is that it's not limited to one or two characters, some do it well and it works because one of the main guys gets the power of illusion and uses it to manipulate people. And if I recall correctly noone liked that Teppei crap (which seems to be connected to this power), if it's use is limited and we know it's illusion then it can work. In the last chapter it was revealed on the next page, not 10 pages later as when it comes to the genjutsu.

    • RE: Toriko II: Ichiryuu's Slimy Insides!!

      Chapter posted above spoiler below:

      Toriko went from not wearing vest to wearing it, it was enough to give away that it was memory. The limit seems to be energy and not just mental focus, but this is the limit to the amount of times you can do it, the limit to the actual power probably lies somewhere in G-cells. If they are conscious, they should be able to interact, or else all of these super natural ability to sense threat and intimidate without doing anything would not make any sense. For now I think the limit is the strength of G-cells, so if a person has both strong mental power and has eaten tons of good food, they should be powerful.

      This will also help cement why these old people are extremely powerful, both their cells and their mental powers are on higher level and they don't depend on age or physical condition. Food pressure and food honor make sense for good and bad guys, but shouldn't even Starjun have this power? Also why was Toriko taught a pseudo intimidation by specific character, it seems everyone should have it.

      edit: Oh and you actually have to believe it, so it's both good g-cells and tons of energy and then you need to be convinced, which is a nice mechanism against someone being hypnotized into becoming the strongest.

      I think overall it's a shity concept if overused, I mean if it's like intimidation it's nice, but if overused we will have bunch of genjutsu battles. But based on Torikos last attack it seems he uses it as diversion because the other person gets some time to dodge and then he moves in, so it can really work out as throwing stars do in naruto, useless but nice combat mechanism.
