Next Crew Member Speculation (Ver 3.0)

-
! Wow… That so called "Best Debater" it seems...
! @kmohyudin:
! > While that is true, the actual characters that join seem to follow some rules. Even though those rules are not absolute, for a character to be nominated as a potential crew member, at least some of those rules must be met and the remaining should not be broken. If we take my criteria for example which is in no way perfect, a character that cannot fulfill any rule should not be nominated, a character that fulfills some and for the remaining his/her status is unknown is open for debate, a character for which all the rules or most of them are unknown cannot be nominated as while debating for/ against him/her most of the arguments will contain the words "if", "could" etc.
! First off, the idea "potential" only means that they can join when they are introduced.
! In this sense, EVERY character shown in the new "location" that a main character is located at can join. Which is not a bad thing at all. This is because if we do not hold a starting spot, then there's no way to actually expect a character introduced with nothing being able to join, at that introduction since you assume that EACH INTRODUCED character holds what you state in your criteria. I disagree…
! People, in the real world, they judge these things, not on what you "have", but on what potential you hold. So, in this sense, even if you cannot have the following few (not in terms of what I think, just an example...):
! * Character must be able to fit on the ship.- Character must have an occupation.
- Character must be red.
- Character must be good at fighting.
- Character must have a dream.
! So, let's assume we have "3" characters:
! 1. Is a green colored character, has a job as a mage, is 100 cm, and can fight. Dream is unknown.- Is a character without a panel appearance, but is said to have an occupation and is good at fighting.
- Doesn't have a dream, and is not good at fighting, but has the other three.
! In this sense, the only logical character that still holds the potential to join within this example is the character that basically has or has a chance to gain and acquire all of them: that would be character 2.
! Character one is not red, therefore, unless he changes colors, he cannot be that way… Of course, this says that the character has no reason to even join because they weren't shown being that color.
Character three holds no dream, therefore, since the character lacks one, he shouldn't join... Plus, the character needs to get good at fighting... Which is the more problematic issue.
Character two has yet to appear, but can obviously hold all of these indicated values and could become the next desired character.
! So, if we follow your method, then it means any character that can still gain them, but doesn't hold them yet, fails.
! Which is wrong. Therefore, the measure referred to as potential is far more important than the measure known as "failing" due to lack of potential.
! Now, if we were referring to One Piece, the character Perona lacks nothing that cannot be introduced since she holds that position to acquire needed traits. She has nothing that prevents her from joining and that itself is a plus.
! So, to remove the uncertainty involved with probable future additions is extremely dumb and stupid. It's unheard of. There has to be consideration for the future, because the story prediction that everyone is making INVOLVES the future and nothing more. Without that, everyone is basically being a little moronic and ignores the most obvious thing in the manga.
! So, in this sense, I will basically not be "nice" and such, because I really am getting sick of reading stupid remarks from most people.
! Not saying you, but just saying in general…
! I don't agree with your method of predicting and debating on who the next member is, reason is that you aren't considerate of the "to be"/ "possible" variable yet to be shown.
! @wintergt:
! > If I look at your rules, only the "has to have met a strawhat" rule needs to apply, but that is really trivial because you can't get invited if Luffy doesn't even know you. But as you say, we can surely disqualify people when we know enough about them that they can't join.. thinking of Perona or Crocodile here.
! You cannot disqualify a character that has the shot at joining because you would basically be an idiot.
! Let's do a characterization of two known characters: Vivi against Robin.
! Vivi
! * Physique: she is able to fit on the ship and is of the accurate body size and so on.- Since all characters hold a sad past, does she? Yes, sort of… She still holds a past sad or as sad as Usopp's...
- Since all the characters seem to like each other and stuff, do they enjoy her company? Sure.
- Can she fight? Sure, she has fought.
- Etc.
! Overall, Vivi, the character, holds everything you need to be a Strawhat Nakama in this checklist sense since she basically was with them for like 5 arcs. However, she lost to Robin… Robin lacked many things prior to her "asking to join" and then the next chapter being accepted to join.
! Why?
! It is merely because she was able to still gain them in the future, as we noticed it. Is this Oda being a dumbass? No. It is the reader being a totally piece of shit that doesn't know shit, i.e. people that are doing it now with Perona.
! If we traveled back into the past, there would be the same moronic idiots saying "But she's a villain" and then doing some other pathetic shit just to be proven wrong.
! So, deciding and making goals on just what you have is so wrong that you end up being wrong. Why? It is because the story isn't predictable and characters can CHANGE. Yes, even Ms. Perona can fucking change.
! Therefore, any character that HASN'T BEEN disproved yet is still in the running; as we saw with a totally RANDOM selection named Nico Robin.
! > Most likely to join next will be a fishman that we haven't met yet. It's not what I hope for but it would suit what Luffy's been collecting..
! Of course, however, there's basically no proof to help you, unless you assume that POTENTIAL allows that character to join.
! Of course you do because otherwise you wouldn't say this shit… So, if you credit a CHARACTER that may never appear to join, it means that someone with just as much potential that DOES EXIST has the same chance to join; Perona.
@kmohyudin:
! > Underlined: But that means any character that meets Luffy has a shot of joining his crew.
! Yes, it is TRUE that any character that meets Luffy has a chance to join; CAN'T YOU SEE THAT WITH BROOK?
! Of course you cannot make any magical deduction from this, but it shows HOW random this nakama stuff is and why any character gets a chance to join.
! > Bold: Perona and Crocodile can't join even though they have met Luffy?
! It should be about them remaining in the story line and plot line, over "meeting" the character - if it was that way, then any past time character would and should just be expected to join… Idiotic.
! > Contradiction?Thats why there must be multiple rules. In my opinion Perona does not qualify to be nominated yet. Crocodile on the other hand is a definite no no.
! How the FUCK can you disqualify an unknown VARIABLE…? It's like saying that the sea isn't blue because you are blind and you've never seen it...
! It's like SAYING the world is flat and the guy that goes and finds it "round" is a lunatic.
! That's what I call stupidity.
! You CANNOT disqualify something that CAN EXIST in the future, remember this...
! Perona IS CONSIDERED because her fucking dumbass is in the PLOT LINE MAIN STORY WHATEVER YOU WANNA CALL IT.
! She's with FUCKING ZORO standing there like a piece of shit.
! Just because she is THERE makes her have as much chance to join as RANDOM NW PIRATE K that stands next to Luffy or WHITEBEARD or JACK-IN-THE-BOX 15 that stands next to Ace in the battle.
! They all have a chance to join because they are still in the plot. Therefore, any RANDOM FUCKING GOOD FOR SHIT CHARACTER CAN JOIN.
! > Again for someone who we have yet to meet any discussion is futile.
! I don't know what this is talking about, but whatever…
! > Okay, I will wait since I am interested in your reasoning.
! Same as before… Don't care either.
@Karmine:
! > Even Zoro would not get lost with Vivre Card…. it points exatcly the way.
! Alright, even though I HAVE FUCKING DONE THIS SEVEN TIMES ALREADY, let's explain why he can get lost…
! This is a post: http://forum.onemanga.com/showpost.php?p=2860802&postcount=181
! Read some of this stuff from here,! Let's see by going deeper… Therefore, Perona is our MAIN PROTAGONIST:
! * For the first part, the plot-line is basically this "midnight attack…" that she's supposed to be a part of. That will be the consistent plot, that event.- Perona starts here, and we are shown a rising action; Kumacy is the antagonist towards our main protagonist. Therefore, we can expect a conflict… we get one. The first plot line is basically Kumacy talking, so, since he already talked, we can understand he will shut up by the resolution... Now, we are going back to the consistent plot-line; "midnight attack".
- Perona is basically shown not there yet; our plot-line becomes complete when she happens to get there: here and we are shown a new one for her: "strawhat crew" is the current plot for Perona.
- here we have two plot-lines introduced; collecting treasure, then the coffin. So, we can assume that Perona has to go and get treasure; of course, that was after the whole "Kumacy don't talk" plot line.
- here we open up a new plot-line; no treasure chests on the ship… As well as continuing the plot-line that they take out all the rations. At the moment, they are winning... So, we can expect a tragedy. And we can expect that Perona fills up all the treasure. So, a new plot-line is introduced; No. 900!!
- here two new plot-lines open up; Bearcy is talking again and basically Absalom is in her room; we can assume that Bearacy will shut up and Absolam will leave her room…
- here's another one… A new plot-line: she is severe towards Bearcy, this means she'll change.
- Then, the other plot continues; meet "master" in his room.
- Lastly, a new plot opens: Humming Swordsman…
- here a new plot opens, they came early. So, this means they'll be late… Moria wants to be made the pirate king; means they won't make him the pirate king.
- Remember our risky brothers, well, it turns out that they didn't bring them… What "plot"... http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/455/15/
- They didn't bring them to the Bearsy, which means that they'll basically be brought to him… (they already are; thus, this will be a tragedy that they'll run away...)
- here we have him say; "don't talk" and he talks; the resolution was that he gets yelled at…
- here plot twist is that he rules away… Our protagonist seems like they can't stop Luffy; antagonist. This means, that they seemingly may let Luffy run away... Then, he gets stopped.
- Basically, I would most likely want to fast forward…

- here we open up a new plot-line; no treasure chests on the ship… As well as continuing the plot-line that they take out all the rations. At the moment, they are winning... So, we can expect a tragedy. And we can expect that Perona fills up all the treasure. So, a new plot-line is introduced; No. 900!!
! Alright, so let's basically quit the mini-plot summaries and just move to the big picture…
! So, let's first show the first thing, Perona's starting place: here.
! Her starting point is on the Thousand Sunny. So, there is a high chance that it should end on the Thousand Sunny.
! Now, let's basically add some other interesting plot things to note…
! Music:
! * Perona's hollow is shown here, as she starts the music plotline: 1.- Now, Brook is mentioned here: 2. So, this keeps stressing that Perona and Brook's plot line is being slowly connected.
- here is basically something that Perona hasn't seen in person; Brook. So, this is where the rising action would be. She has yet to meet him.
- here it seems that Perona is asleep and misses him; builds the rising action.
- here it shows that she's basically heading towards a possible encounter with Brook.
- Here is some more references towards a certain musician.
- Here is another reference towards Brook.
- So, the general idea is that this "plot-line" can be closed by the means of meeting up with Brook, the "Humming" swordsman …
! Friends:
! * here it triggers something for the future…- Then, she saves Zoro: here. So it seems the MIGHTY Usopp actually had a say in this…
! Nami:
! * Here is an interesting idea; Perona is basically never seen again. Maybe, this is a little too much foreshadowing that they may meet again…- hmmmm…. this seems like a challenge provoked by Perona. Maybe it is foreshadowing that basically it does that later on.
! Zoro Plotline:
! * here she is shown beside him.- She hit him with a negative ghost later, during the time Franky and Luffy were hit.
- After that, she met him later when she basically saw him in her room. Zoro asked a question: here
- After Zoro left, they basically would meet later on…
- Here is an interesting idea; Perona is basically never seen again. Maybe, this is a little too much foreshadowing that they may meet again… these two express and reintroduce her into the story.
- Zoro's gone on a trip which seems to suggest he answered something similar to Perona.
- Here, something comes in the background…
- Here she meets him, and here she heals him.
- here they are shown walking together…
- here same thing just about.
- Why Zoro needs help with directions:

- http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/205/17/
- Each of those show that Zoro sucks at heading towards the same direction… he always has help. I did leave out a few of them. Basically, each time he says "I know where to go" or something like that, he fails.
- Every other time, he cannot even follow the correct direction.
- He had to be helped by Nami in Little Garden (was kidnapped).
- By Usopp and Vivi in Drum Kingdom.
- By marines in Alabasta.
- In Sky Island he got lost…
- In Sky Island he had to be helped by a South Bird to head South, he managed to head back to the starting point somehow.
- In Water 7 he almost missed the stairs.
- In Enies Lobby, he basically got lost when Nami told him the direction was directly in front of him.
- Then, he got lost aimlessly wandering around trying to find the stairs, walked in a circle…
- Got lost in Water 7 again, saw the marine ship and basically left, came right back to the same place.
- Had to have help in order to get to Luffy by two people that tried to rob him.
- His zombie got lost in Thriller Bark.
- Basically, what I have shown to any person that can understand what they read… It is an obvious plot-line that has Zoro being lost.
- In order to survive this, Perona is brought it, by means of foreshadowing, to help him.
- Due to the other stuff, she has shown some sort of connections to these characters…
! So, let's actually analyze what she thinks of Moria:
! * Here she says why she joined.- here she basically no longer is with Moria, she makes it clear in her speech. She corrects herself.
- So, she's basically said that she's no longer with Moria.
! Another important thing, which is basically simple, is the desires she wishes for:
The first one is of an island full of loyal servants that obey her command.
Second is to be in a dark castle full of malice.
To sing accursed songs.
Lastly, she says the following here: here
! * Wake up on a warm comfy bed in the morning.- I didn't want to be somewhere with no cute cuddly toys.
- Be served a bagel sandwich with hot cocoa.
- As well as a servant.
- We can add accursed songs here.
- Gold.
- Fun.
- Usopp's mercy.
- The fact that she hasn't met Robin yet.
! So, basically we get that she wants to be around those things; which can be provided by the Thousand Sunny and the Straw hat crew. She also did want the Sunny as well.
! So, what does this mean?
! * It means that her dream "I want to rule a kingdom with zombie servants" no longer seems applicable since she's changed everything she's wanted after being alone here by Kuma.- She's basically now desiring some things that she had at Thriller Bark.
- Bed.
- Music.
- Toys.
- Servants.
- Food.
- Gold.
- And then some…
- Of course, everything in Thriller Bark is destroyed according to the idea how these events happened:
- She wakes up and sees that everything is going wrong and is hectic.
- Hogback was beaten by Oars.
- Oars beat all the zombie generals.
- Thriller Bark is falling apart.
- Oars is basically all over the place doing damage.
- She wakes up and sees that everything is going wrong and is hectic.
- She's afraid and basically goes to hide.
! It should explain why Zoro will need her help because he has done already the two known things that Oda hints when he foreshadows Zoro failing at directions:
! * One, he gets lost.- Two, he said he knew how to use it.
! After that, in case you can't tell that when he says "where the hell did they go" or whatever, that shows that he is lost… An indication, if you will.
! So, according to the "cover page" of the chapter 559, 560; Oda has said that Zoro is lost. As far as the VIVRE CARD goes, it is quite obvious that Oda had Zoro say "I know how to use it!!" when he answered Chopper.
! This is the way Zoro is always shown to foreshadow him needing "help" later on.
! If you want to prove that Zoro can use the VIVRE CARD, do actually prove this. With an example, thank you.
! > Everyone refused to join the crew but Robin who asked to join.
! There were two characters that asked, Usopp asked to be the captain and was rejected every time. Robin asked.
! Both times, had different results. Usopp wasn't allowed to join the first time he asked. Robin was.
! So, this isn't an automatic thing, however, when Brook accepted to join, it throws this out of the way.
! When Brook has accepted, he has changed the rule and rewritten the rule book. Therefore, we have at last a character that does join. So, regardless if Perona or some CHARACTER 3195820956 ask to join, they have 50% chance to join, as if they were asked to join they would hold the same chance.
! In other words, you would have to be stupid to care over a yes or no probable question and answer. No offense.
! > You did not add the refuse part….
! Again, what on earth would this do? Don't tell me that what I said was that every character has to refuse, you'd be a dumbass if you thought that…
! I said, which was more to be sarcastic and rude, something to mock you.
! > Sorry but why is she traveling on their ship if she is not a crew mate ? Also even if she was crew mate before traveling on their ship then why was there no boss fight prior her joining ?
! Because Nami and Robin fucking JOINED TEMPORARY as did FUCKING VIVI… so go on and act like a smart ass when you aren't...
! This idea of a "boss" fight is so absurd, I've already told you to find an excuse for why Brook isn't counted... You have yet to do that. Again, Brook breaks that pattern, please understand that there's NOTHING you can do when the dumbass Luffy had asked him to join and he said "SURE!!" unless you wish to assume some meaning in the world.
! He "joined" right at that time.
! > How can you not get it that Brook only joined once! I've recently finished reading all chapter all over and read every single chapter atleast SIX times. I do remember how they story goes, much better than you it seems.
! How can you ignore this:
Luffy - "Na, forget about those… Be my nakama!!"
Brook - "Sure"
! Were you skipping the 18th and 19th page of that chapter for the hell of it?
That was the end of the chapter, he joined regardless..
! Then, he left the group and "left" the crew after he shared his story...
! How do you join a "group"?
You accept.
! What did he do?
Accept.
! I'm not making this shit up, I'm just telling you to include this shit into your idea of a BOSS battle and show me a boss battle on that ship, which obviously wasn't one.
! > What you mean I did not give people fair view earlier on ? It was many posts ago around 19 hours ago… do find it if you want.
! I said you were dead wrong.
! > I never said we should end it… however I do think we should end Perona discussion cause it all just fan-boys reason...
! Really?
Maybe it is only for someone that can PONDER what the fuck COULD be added into the story later over something that isn't able to be ADDED unless changed…
It isn't FAN-BOY, you are just ignorant.
! > Mr.2 has more chances of joining. However Hacchi is most likely with the rate of joining.
! YOU'RE a moron. It is CLEARLY shown that Hatchi is a fucking SWORDSMAN, RETIRED, and a COOK.
! CLEARLY.
! Why do we need another swordsman and cook that happens to be retired and is living his dream of running a stand that he can cook for people around SA… WHY?
! Why would he give up his dream and all his life to become a PIRATE again just to fucking follow your god forbidden horrible pattern?
! Again, I will tell you this, NO MATTER what fucking pattern you come up with, YOU CANNOT dare dismiss Perona at the moment because you think she doesn't follow the fucking pattern. Why?
! It is because she has yet to fail any fucking thing.
! [qutoe]Your arguments are all about IFs and maybes…. Most of the points I've brought were facts! Stone hard facts.
No, you are an idiot.
! The point of debate is to consider all the variables, if they are known or unknown… You have to consider them. Regardless if they don't yet exist, as long as you cannot discredit a point/ variable from being shown or introduced, that character is still in the runnings for the Nakama position.
! Otherwise, you are a moron.
! > I can also do IFs and maybes if you want…
! Then go and get a brain if you can….
! > If Luffy would figure out now how to use Haki cause of his last usage of it, he would maybe be stronger than most the warlords and then Doflamingo could join as Luffy being stronger than him if Doflamingo figures out that the new era will be around Luffy cause of his actions and haki powers, maybe then the would be able to easily help gathering the crew and cause he gather the crew Luffy accepts him his a nakama.
! Good for you, you clearly are a fucking idiot…
! > Facts : Mr.2 can be freed by fighting the boss called "The Warden" (If Mr.2 is alive)
! Then why do you have an IF if you are that bend on being a fucking idiot…
! > Facts : Hacchi can travel with Strawhats from SA to FI and there we know he got some enemies and friends… Strawhats assist in against enemy.
! "can" is also called "if" dumbshit.
! Did you happen to forget the fucking tako prick said "I retire" and that he is Zoro/ Sanji?
! No, because you don't know what the fuck you are talking besides some "BOSS" bullshit.
! > Facts : Perona does not have lips that a crew member would use, Perona was mean to her zombies and enjoyed it. Perona stole all of Moria treasure and was going to steal Strawhat ships to live a rich live with her zombies as her servents.
! Holy shit you are dumb ass "lips?" you say…
! Hatchi has "lips" ???
! Mean to her zombies? As in plural? Go die... She fucking was compassionate and was agonizing when they were dying, dumb shit.
! She only told ONE zombie to "SHUT UP!! DON'T TALK!! YOU'RE NOT CUTE WHEN YOU TALK!!" all because she cares for his image.
! Are you serious?
! Moria's money? It's her fucking money... SHE handles that money and collects it and shit.
! I'm surprised I thought you were even remotely capable...
! > Facts : Nami stealed money to save hero village from an iron rule. Nami is crying http://media.onemanga.com/mangas/00000002/000128232/19.jpg this is after she takes their ship and heads to Arlong Park… different ? Nami cared deeply for the crew back then...
! http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/49/16/
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/49/17/
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/50/06/
! Where's the village dumbshit?
! Can you shut the fuck up with you sprouting bullshit?
! I told you before, you can't understand what the hell I was saying with this. First off, I said "Nami stole their ship. Took their money. Didn't say shit about saving ship…" She did just that.
! Who gives a FLYING FUCK if she had waterfalls from her eyes, her bitch ass BETRAYED them right then and there. Care to keep that bullshit going?
! You are the reader, NO SHIT you will know what she does when you fucking read her... It isn't like Luffy is reading One Piece as he is there and then before he shouts to Zoro and Usopp to go get her back, he actually read that page and was like "She didn't leave!!" and that bullshit.
! We are talking about the MANGA in MANGA time not what the fuck happened off panel and the reader gets to see it.
! > Edited : Sorry for no spoiler tag but I just wanted to make sure he sees this… Nami crying that she wished she could be free so she could travel with the strawhats!!!
! To prove my point here: http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/50/07/
! Why is she fucking crying? http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/50/19/
No fucking reason… Village? What is that? According to Arlong, sure...
! @kmohyudin:
! > See? Here lies our disagreement. With Perona you are arguing she has potential, no credible evidence, not even for one point!
! How can you claim she has no potential, well?
If she can't be proven guilty, she's sure as fuck not guilty, eh?
! Potential can only be taken away when you have shit to claim it… Being charged guilty, you have to be charged that.
! She has enough evidence to head towards the ship. That's her potential in a nutshell.
! > Perona has not been displayed as a good person. The only act of good she did was save Zoro but her motivation is unknown.
! Contradiction and secondly, she obvious is "good" to her nakama and such… Unless they barge into her room.
! She obviously only dislikes Kumacy when he basically talks. Cause he ain't cute.
! So, she's done quite a few good deeds. Which contradicts her being a "bad person" and secondly, she can FUCKING CHANGE... Or else, according to Zoro and them, Nami didn't at all.
! If her motivations are unknown, then how the FUCK can we claim Nami's motivations to buy an island are "noble" and such... How can we claim that Robin sacrificing herself to allow the SH crew to pass towards the next island becomes noble. Where she could end up killing the world?
! How can you make these claims?
! > Her character has been developed to be negative, exception being saving Zoro, where it is unknown.
! Then, her fucking character has CHANGED right before our god damn eyes…
! > Her interaction with Straw Hats has been negative, exception being saving Zoro, where it is unknown.
! Obviously, it is another CHARACTER CHANGE.
! > For her dreams I see you are already arguing, I will not touch that.
! Her "dream" it is supposed to be a singular dream not plural.
All nakama that have a dream hold a singular dream.
! > Balls and Chains if any are unknown.
! Worthless..
! > Her powers as of now are broken.
! Worthless… You are assuming you know all about her powers.
! For instance, we know that the only thing that Kidd can do is REPEL. Amazing.
! Those things obviously change, or else Luffy would only be able to do Gumo Gumo no Mi Pistol the whole way through the manga.
! Same with Nami only having a fucking staff...
! > Can you see how many unknowns there are? Try putting any character through this list and the number of unknowns will be equal.
! Why don't you try putting any character into that shit and see if they hold up. Perona is the only character that can hold up.
! > At best your argument displays her potential for a candidate for the crew and not a crew member and even there I am sorry to say that I see it failing.
! Her holding potential is MORE than helpful than her having FAILED criteria up to that point.
! We wouldn't have guessed Robin, so take some previous manga criteria and basically understand that characters can change and that change can up their chances of joining. Perona is included; as all she needs to join is get things that are "unknowns" explained.
! @Jejune:
! > All right, all right, I've learned my lesson about arguing with you.
! Alright whatever…
! > Just one more thing
Yes we find out later that Nami did bad things for a justified cause.
! Key word being "later"…
! > But it is not comparable to Perona's situation, where she wasn't forced to do anything and in fact enjoyed inflicting pain on others.
! Apply it here…
Why would basically Perona wish to join Moria. Why would she desire undead? Why would she be like herself?
! Now, apply it to Robin:
Why did Robin show no mercy to Yama, who attacked a few ruins?
Why did Robin leave and betray so many people?
etc.
! You see the point I am making?
! Each character has their own history to unravel, until you know everything about Perona, it is SO FUCKING WRONG to discredit her a shot at joining...
! > If we find out later she has reasons for being a morbid freak, WHO CARES.
! If we find out why Sanji is a pervert, wouldn't it be the same?
Or why Chopper picked to hate humans? Only changed when he was with Luffy?
Or with Robin?
! You cannot suggest that a character is not able to change. It is like saying that Perona is destined to be a villain. Which is false.
! We have to try and believe that EACH human being has a method of changing, it is not their fault for having certain things happen to them, however, it is their fault for picking a path… But, they can still do good in the end of that path, regardless of the situation or history.
! > She still had a choice in life, unlike Nami, and it just means she was never meant to be Strawhat material.
! No, it doesn't because you don't even have an understanding on what SH material means…
! There isn't one.
! What's there to say that the "best" choice Perona has had hasn't been with Thriller Bark?
! She did join for "fun" and whatever this means we have no idea...
! Just like we don't know Luffy's version of Pirate King if we asked Mr. Crocodile... Luffy has his own definition of Pirate King, much like Perona has her own personal belief of fun.
! @KingofSarus:
! > There's nothing wrong with that.
I don't feel like debating right now, because I have a headache, but I don't think she'll join.
! I don't either, but I think she has the highest shot of any character…
! > I'm sure Oda is going to make a cover story for her once she departs with Zoro.
It would be weird, yet funny to hear him say,
"Oi! Luffy! You don't mind letting her join our crew? I wouldn't be here without her help."
I'm positive Zoro wouldn't mention "directions". lol
Then you have to think about Luffy's decision. Luffy can hold grudges, like him pissed at Franky whenever he was fighting Lucci.
! He did hold one, but when he heard that the guy was making him a ship, he basically forgot all of that shit, somehow.
! Sure, Zoro may not say that, but still, if they do get to that point, which I assume is going to happen, she has a shot around (50%) of being able to join since it is a yes or no question.
! > Luffy hated those ghosts. Then again, knowing Luffy's intelligence, she'll have 50/50 chance of joining.
! He also liked those ghosts. He might basically forget the ghost thing and when he sees them float, he will be like "AWESOME!!" and such… She's a very intriguing character...
! > I don't mind her joining. I kinda like Cutie-chan (lol Sanji), but it would be weird with two people from the same arc.
! It wouldn't she never met Brook at all… Sure, same arc, but they never met each other at all the whole arc.
! She wouldn't even know who he is since they don't call him the "Humming" on the ship.
! Yes, she never met him:
! * Asleep 5 years ago.- Never saw him when she was around by Moria.
- Admits it when asked by Hogback and Absolam.
! Etc.
! The point is that she hasn't met Brook at all, surprisingly.
@Karmine:
! > I already mentioned that to him three times…. hopefully he will listen to you.
! You messed up every time because of that…
! > Best debater of 2009 is Vanessa it seems.
! I'll see…
@madmanricky:
! > perona doesn't need to help zoro get back he has a vivi card for that
! You again…
! Read all of this:
!

! If you can't see it, here's the whole post: http://forum.onemanga.com/showpost.php?p=2860802&postcount=181
! @Vanessa:
! > I'm just surprised someone's so vehemently thinks of Perona as a viable option, and this is without taking into account her horrible character or how overpowered she'd be as a Power User. Especially considering the fact that in spite of being with Moria for at least a decade(Hogback's little flashback showing his recruitment) she very easily wrote him off as soon as any real danger occurred.
! You are the best debater?
! I am disappointed…
! Not once did you mention anything solid:
! * Horrible character? She was nice to Zoro, she has been considered "nice" and she was at least nice and reliable to her former boss and his group of zombies. If you are talking about her character generally speaking, then you obviously can't understand that she's changing… Whatever, you are the best and you cannot see this? Disappointment.- The devil fruit thing, of course, we don't have the complete information of her devil fruit… There's things left to question. Just like Robin had her DF dropped in skill, so can Perona.
- Lastly, the idea of this… Surely, this is so important. Again, mind explaining why it matters and where it can prevent her? Ummm... No. Why? Because it doesn't matter since Luffy has cowards already in his crew and the second thing is that whatever reason she has a character of hers, that character isn't defined at all, so whatever reason she fears from having Oars attack and go on a rampage, that's unknown. Of course, you won't considerate that she has a psychological reaction to those "danger" things much like how Pearl and Robin have a trauma towards something... Much like how Sanji has a trauma towards something new. Yes, you are the best and you cannot imagine this since you obviously think lowly of me, for some reason...
! The best? Give me a break.
! > This isn't like say…Nami, Robin or even characters outside of the Strawhats like Teach. Any ulterior motives behind her joining in an attempt to make her sympathetic don't exist since first thing we see of Perona in Kuraigana Island is wishing to be back with Moria.
! Wow… How many times have I heard this come up and notice that everyone fails at reading the passage?
Again, for the last time, Perona does not want to go to Moria. She wants to go to a place with these things:
! * bed (warm and comfy)- servants to wake her up and feed her a bagel sandwich with hot cocoa.
- Cute and cuddly toys.
! If you cannot notice this, here's it:
! * Bed on the Thousand Sunny.- Sanji can wake them up for breakfest and he feeds the girls.
- Toys, obviously would be allowed with Luffy as a captain.
! So, why am I saying this?
! Obviously because the "Moria!!" stuff didn't matter in that context, since she actually wanted to head to Thriller Bark where she had all of these things at. Of course, TB is destroyed and we know that. She basically can believe that either Kuma attacked Moria and the SH crew and sent them there…
Oars destroyed TB or something like that...
! Whatever, we can understand that she actually thinks something bad happened to TB and her desires that she wants. So, she wants those things, not a person. Why? Because she joined for "fun" and not for "Moria" in the first place, it doesn't seem like that changed…
! Why are you the best if you cannot get this?
@Karmine:
! > I say AGOG lost already so I guess those against Perona won…
! Ummm… Why? I didn't respond since I went away and did something else?
! > Any hows who wants to discuss Mr.2 or Hacchi joining ?
! An idiot?
! > Hacchi : Decides to travel with Strawhats just to Fishman Island… as soon as they get there he gets tied into some dark things where the Strawhat must safe him from. After that he decided to go to the Strawhats....
! Retired, has two roles that aren't brand new and obviously fails…
! > Mr.2 : Luffy says he must go back to Impel Down.. he is taken there while he is resting after Marineford, Mr.2 is still alive like Luffy had hoped and Luffy has to fight the Warden to get him out of prison. For that that don't think that Luffy is strong enough then Blackbeard wounded the warden a lot when he left Impel Down
! Yeah, if he wasn't considered dead and he didn't have the SAME Voice Actor as Franky, then we should consider him.
! > Personally I think no one will join. But hey this could happen… Remember we were cut off right before the Warden was going to kill Mr.2... but Blackbeard may have done something so that the Warden hadn't time to do something.
! It doesn't change the Voice Actor issue.
@kmohyudin:
! > By 5 I mean the character has no prior obligations like Vivi and her princess stuff etc.
! Then say that. By the way, Perona passed that with flying colors, aight?
! > I agree that six is hard to judge but for the moment take extreme stuff like Ace's Logia (Maybe Logia in general) etc. Any better criteria is more then welcome.[/qutoe]
Drop this. DF aren't constant… They have little additions like GEAR SECOND AND THIRD.The problem arises when people who don't even follow at least this criteria are nominated or when discussions are side tracked and are no longer within the realm of any criteria.
You want real criteria, think logically and rationally… Then we will talk, break it down into gender and then we will talk.
I have; results are these: Females have a similar relationship.
Males do not.So, with this, as long as a male is able to fit on the ship, or whatever, he can join... As long as the male is in the story line, he can join.
If the male has a desirable trait, like a position, dream, is cool, or whatever, then his chances grow. If he doesn't hold a desirable trait, then his chances drop.
Females have a pattern, so the next one can follow that trend or basically, if broken, rewrite them.
EDIT:
How can you argue someone who has yet to appear??
Who knows… A HELMSMAN is arguable since it would deal with the plot.
That's a way. A fishman should be the helmsman.
So, we have argued a way; reason being that they are 10 times stronger than humans, naturally.
If this has happened on more then one occasion then perhaps you need to be more clear on your joking habits… Who are you seriously supporting?
Who cares…
@kmohyudin:While that is true, the actual characters that join seem to follow some rules.
Okay, care to share any reasons?
I've already done this…
@wintergt:If I look at your rules, only the "has to have met a strawhat" rule needs to apply, but that is really trivial because you can't get invited if Luffy doesn't even know you. But as you say, we can surely disqualify people when we know enough about them that they can't join.. thinking of Perona or Crocodile here.
Most likely to join next will be a fishman that we haven't met yet. It's not what I hope for but it would suit what Luffy's been collecting..
Same here…
@kmohyudin:Underlined: But that means any character that meets Luffy has a shot of joining his crew.
Bold: Perona and Crocodile can't join even though they have met Luffy?
Contradiction?
Thats why there must be multiple rules. In my opinion Perona does not qualify to be nominated yet. Crocodile on the other hand is a definite no no.
Again for someone who we have yet to meet any discussion is futile.
Okay, I will wait since I am interested in your reasoning.
And here…
Did I leave anything out...
No.Be warned, I cursed and stuff… Read if you want to, but I lost my cool.
I'm going to be more cocky and such from now on... If I keep being mum and such, nothing will come. So, I'll be more rude and such.
I just want to ask the people who want a fishman, merfolk to join if they are serious? Like really? Really think about it.
You seriously want a boring ugly fishman for 600 more chapters over a female character, honestly? You're not just saying what everyone else is saying and following along?
Fishman are stronger than a human by 10 times. Perfect for the Helmsman position.
Fishman are fast in the water, again well done. In addition, they aren't the GREATEST in water, therefore, if a water fight happens, they won't hold a dominating advantage. Plus, they need to breathe or whatever (technically, they cannot breathe in the water or have air…), as Sanji showed in his fight. So, they as a creature, as long as they can fit on the ship, aren't too strong or too weak.
For the record, I have zero interest in any fish or fishman karate related characters to ever join with the exception of Camie. Even my interest for Brook is still pretty low.
They are able to be involved in stories about the slavery, since they were the focal point of everything to do with slavery, another plus.
Yeah, I might have ranted a bit but it was bugging me so I had to post it. Sorry, to the fish people supporters but I haven't liked them since Oda created them at the start of the story because of the light they were put in. I guess, I'm kind of like Nami on this typic.
Merfolk are the useless ones. (NOTE: They basically need to be "30" [female] if they wish to walk on land…) - added because of Strongbad's pick-up… thanks.
Fishman/ Fishwoman can be a useful bunch since they do just about everything the Merfolk do, however, they swim slower and they don't look like that. Plus, they can walk on land.I personally think that the MERFOLK are worthless to have in the crew; otherwise Gaimon would be there doing his thing.
-
That's not the main reason anyway. I just don't like their design and don't want to see one in every chapter.
Racist! Fishypeople are people and like people, they have feelings too!
I wouldn't mind seeing either a new "fishman" or "female" crew member.
Although, I enjoy the two ladies enough already (so does Sanji)
Sure! You can say that Camie fits in both of those categories… but, sadly, she'll be useless for the Straw Hats... IN battle.
If only she showed some type of an "offensive" skill... she'll be a great nakama that talks to fish and design clothes (Nami and Robin could save money).
I swear Camie is like Aquaman. Sucks in battle and talk to fishes. -

I didn't really like Franky either probably since I seen him as a Mr. 2 wannabe with a violent temper but that changed I mostly like him now. Brook in the process, around the point to where I think I can like him but I'm still a little indifferent compared to everyone else in the crew.
All Camie needs to do is be able to grow legs for short periods if she needs to go on land or just have someone carry her. Also, get a power up or weapon from the Mermaid Princess, a weapon with a DF could make her awesome.
-
Actually AGOG a mermaid would only be useless under the age of 30. At around 30(According to the Wiki) mermaid grows legs. If the SHs get a mermaid over the age of 30, they wouldn't be so useless.

Sure, a new species of Mermaid. I've heard of some "technology" that enables her to have a means of walk on land… Like a handicap from a different website.

I know. I know.
I was being silly and uncaring… I didn't bother to include that since most should and would understand that.
If you wish, I can add that into it just to be more convicting.
Thank you, however.

Man! I just read AGOG's entire post and he came back hard with a vengeance! Ahaha!
You had some points out there though. -

Plus we don't know what the case would be for a half merfolk/half human person.
That could be the easy way Ida could get around that.

The problem I have with a completely new character joining at this point is that they will have missed half of the story. This is why I want the remaining members to be already known characters. I don't know how to explain this well but I hope whoever is reading knows what I mean.

I look forward to the replies, hope I don't have to insult anyone... I hate doing that, but I just had to do it then.

There should be two more people to join.
If we are to follow chapter titles plus the "ten man" rule stated in the start…
One of them, I place my bets on a fishman Helmsman.
The other, I seem to side with either an old lady, or basically a younger sister like character; thank perona for that.

Stuff Jadosra wrote.
So your reasoning is…a made-up character change that you say happened even though we've only seen Perona twice(a coverstory I might add) after Zoro's landing at Kuraigana Island, and a crappy freudian excuse for why she ditched her comrades of about a decade when nothing has even been hinted for such a thing. This is all the while shoving aside story aspects in order to force comparisons between her and characters like Nami even though dialouge from Perona shows all signs pointing to the contrary to what you're suggesting.
I've seen Hancock arguments that have made more sense than this.
Oh and her being nice consisted of preventing her zombies from speaking due to it not being "cute" and sleeping through Brook's initial attack on Thriller Bark after being informed sure show signs of reliability. That Perona sure is great huh.
I mean even Absalom and Hogback went out of their way to search for her before leaving Thriller Bark while Perona nonchalantly attempted to leave them before anything major even happened.

How is it made up when you keep saying she's so EVIL that she should be NOT HELPING Zoro heal?
Why are you the best in the first place? Do you know how minimal a character change has to be in order to be called a change?
Even if the character grows an inch, that's a darn change.
Same thing if character changes their mind after saying where they wanted to go, yet not being happy. Same thing with her helping him.
Might as well explain that:
- She goes in with AP form. [it is away from the castle.]
- She goes and basically heads back with her body since she cannot "touch" within that form.
- She has to drag him all the way to the castle, bandage him, then even freaking sit there all "time passed a certain length" watching over him in case he didn't get worse.
- In other words, she took care of him and obviously had enough human sense to take that precaution and patience for it.
So, that is a change in character … Yes, I am comparing it to Nami and Robin because of the idea that they are both FEMALE… At least I am being consistent rather than looking at no sides of a coin and picking tails without a fucking coin.
Oh and her being nice consisted of preventing her zombies from speaking due to it not being "cute" and sleeping through Brook's initial attack on Thriller Bark after being informed sure show signs of reliability. That Perona sure is great huh.
You do know that Hogback said that shit, not me… I am only paraphrasing it. Hogback said "Perona is dependable" back when it was before Oars broke the whole bridge.
Sure, like when your mother tells you to wear clean underwear... In order to smell better, then take that with Perona as the same sort of thing.
I mean even Absalom and Hogback went out of their way to search for her before leaving Thriller Bark while Perona nonchalantly attempted to leave them before anything major even happened.
I mean, Hogback was said to be crushed. General Zombies were said to be destroyed… They were at the church last time she knew.
And, last but not least, Oars is looking for a girl.
She ran the hell away because she thought they were dead or whatever...
So, again?
At least, unlike Nami, she tried to get Moria a body in respect.
-
Wait a minute AGOG is Jadosra?
LMAO
The same Jadosra that'd argue forever about Croc and Moria being stronger than Luffy(even if he was right sometimes)?
I wasn't reading the recent tl;dr posts before since I already went back and forth with him once but from what I recall he's been beating to death that Perona has a good chance or better than the other characters in these past arc for nakama? Damn man I never thought you'd come to this thread and with fanboyism for Perona of all characters.
To think all this arguing over her chances of joining. Bringing up the same topics over and over. She isn't even confirmed to be back in the manga yet. This has edged out the Hancock arguments. At least we have something to look forward to one chap to the next with her.

I'm not this "Jadosra" fellow. Again, who is that?
I'm not this fellow. Plus, my Perona stuff are actually thoughtful. It's not like I am making that stuff up, it is how it is.Her having the best chance is because she's one of the few characters to not fail.

What if I happen to be right about my approach [which I can't see being wrong because I happen to do this rather educated and such.] then wouldn't it mean anyone that tries this in a professional sense could come to this conclusion?
I would think so…

Doing what rather educated?
What if this, what if that. That hypothetical is irrelevant.
Anyway from what you've argued about Perona she doesn't have the best chances to join. Everything after her possibly going back to SA with Zoro is grandiose speculation on your part. Anybody can set up a scenario for any character to join.
We have ppl seriously thinking Croc could join. Now I'm not saying Oda can't change Perona in w/e way to make her seem a lil bit more loyal but as of now nothing points to her becoming a SH and remaining a SH. As of now she'd be better suited to join Buggy's crew. IMO Oda would have to do a lot of changing for her to join.
If you're really not Jadosra search his name in the chapter thread section and look at his chapter thread arguments or go the shichibukai thread and search his name.
-
The only zombie animal told not to speak was Kumacy since it made him not cute. That hardly qualifies as being something bad. I'm sure Nami tells people to shut up all the time.
Now it seems to me the biggest problem Perona has in the eyes of some people is her abandoning her crew of 10 years. No one knows what her background is.
Who's to say Moria didn't kill her parents and kidnap her when she was little? Then given some zombie friends to keep her quiet and occupied? She only stayed since it was fun, once it was no longer fun she would have every right to leave.
Now, I'm not saying that is what happened to her and yes my story is a little flawed but I'm sure someone can come up a background story that completely nullifies leaving her crew.
-
At the moment, my current guess/hope is Jimbei.
He's a fishman, so he can navigate through water with ease and at any depth. This would be effective in scouting and salvaging. (Nami shall be pleased)
Plus it seems to go with the recently discovered trend of each new crew member being taller than the last ((robin, franky, brook))Also back in the Arlong Park and Sabondy arcs, it seemed that Luffy was entertained by the idea of gaining a mermaids/fishmen joining his crew.
Besides, by the World Government locking him, a Shichibukai up, it suggests that they aren't too entertained by the idea of him ever coming back into Shichibukai status. Especially now that he's taking part in the war

Now, if you ask yourself this with all the other characters, which characters have a shot to basically do these:
- Head to the ship.
- Get invited.
Without much problem?
I also base my speculations on the connection between Robin and Nami.
So, there's posts there prior to these past few ones that I basically made more effort with.
You say that she can join Buggy, with ease, yet she basically has a connection to SH crew and only SH crew since we don't have enough evidence to suspect Buggy there…
If she joins, she has basically followed that simple "pathway" to head towards the crew and get that invite.
In order to this, I am here showing you reasons why she must follow along with Zoro and trying to get some supporting evidence to show this. Then, I am also trying to show some future "use" she can offer to the crew in the short run and in the story sense. I am then going into the emotional aspect of her character and trying to show a reason why she should accept/ ask to join based on known character desires and such.
In other words, I am building up her case to join by trying to predict small "leaps" towards the ship and then trying to explain what she can offer and give towards the crew based on previous examples.
This is "correct" and proper. Is it not?
Or do you want to basically say "Jinbei because he is cool!!" or whatever?
The only zombie animal told not to speak was Kumacy since it made him not cute. That hardly qualifies as being something bad. I'm sure Nami tells people to shut up all the time.

I have better stories than this.
I can connect her to any NW pirate crew that was stationed there around ten years ago. For instance, Kaidou is the easiest since we know that Moria fought him and Perona joined after that.
I can see a connection between her being Kaidou's trash and she could have done the same thing for Moria or whatever that she did for Zoro and he gave her a doll.
i can see her connected to Kaidou and with Moria to get revenge, she may have been impressed by his power and such…
Just saying, you can connect her to the NW and then you can make a future plot out of it, which is very important when you look at Nami and Robin having this sort of thing.
-
-
Who gives out these awards?
-
i see jimbe more as the character that pushes the fishman towards the strawhats
-
Man we should start a betting pool on this kind of threads. Money goes to winner. If no winner, money goes to charity.
With Oda and the way he writes his stories, whatever charity will be getting quite a bit of money.
-
Now, if you ask yourself this with all the other characters, which characters have a shot to basically do these:
- Head to the ship.
- Get invited.
Without much problem?
A lot of dumbass assumptions but the most daunting are the dumbass assumptions you've suggested I'd say for other lame and/or boring characters.
All of them have equal chances to head to the ship and get invited. I say that, by now saying that chance is zero.
I find it to be an assumption that the crew has to head back to SA to get to the ship(the SA part you're leaving out or specifically heading back to where Rayleigh is). There's nothing saying Perona has to go to the ship, she might go to SA and something can occur where she's taken out of the picture by her own doing or someone else's. This goes for anybody else who happens to go to SA.
I also base my speculations on the connection between Robin and Nami.
So, there's posts there prior to these past few ones that I basically made more effort with. You already were shut down here. PPL have explained the clear differences between Nami and Robin when compared to Perona as far as loyalty goes.
The only connection is the act of betrayal. Where Robin and Nami have actual reasons for their "betrayal" that being self sacrificing for the sake of others and Perona did it to save her own ass.
You say that she can join Buggy, with ease, yet she basically has a connection to SH crew and only SH crew since we don't have enough evidence to suspect Buggy there…
What is this connection with the SH crew? Is it a connection she can not form with Buggy? Is it a similar connection that Mr. 3 had with Luffy and the SHs cuz he easily gravitated to Buggy due to cowardice. Something Perona has already shown she has a lot of. If anything she, like the ID prisoners would be fooled to join Buggy seeing it as the better choice than the SH crew. If you don't think Buggy is heading to the NW you're obviously not reading this manga. If you think Buggy is not going to take the Gyojin island path and head to Mariejoa you're a dumbass.
In order to this, I am here showing you reasons why she must follow along with Zoro and trying to get some supporting evidence to show this.
There is no evidence saying she has to follow Zoro back to SA just speculation made up by you. So you won't find that supporting evidence now. You'd be wasting your time.
Then, I am also trying to show some future "use" she can offer to the crew in the short run and in the story sense. I am then going into the emotional aspect of her character and trying to show a reason why she should accept/ ask to join based on known character desires and such.
This crap is no different than what everyone else is doing for the other characters present in the past few arcs that equally have no chance of joining.
In other words, I am building up her case to join by trying to predict small "leaps" towards the ship and then trying to explain what she can offer and give towards the crew based on previous examples.
I.E. speculation. Why are you explaining this again? This is just wasted txt.
What I said in my last post is there's no point arguing the same things over and over especially with the same ppl. Staying true to the previous statement I most likely won't respond to your reply to to this post, especially if it's the same stuff you've been regurgitating since you've entered this thread.
-
i just had a thought maybe someone might travel with them for going into fishman island and look at the crew and say to luffy you have a great crew but you still need _and positions if you want to make it in the new world and then the search begins to fill those two positions just like the doctor did in nami's village
-
@ Crossword
[HIDE]@Crossword:
Hm, might as well add my thoughts, since out of the characters people have been throwing around recently, I still think she fits the criteria better than the others, though her joining is a bit of a stretch at this point.
Well first, with her disposition, I think she'd fit in with the crew like a glove. She even had part of the routine down-pat anyway (y'know, begrudgingly save Luffy from drowning, then insult him for being dumb, stuff like that). She showed a fair amount of interest in Luffy and what pirates were like, so you could probably extrapolate some stuff from that. She showed that she was willing to take risks for others when she stood up for Luffy, and if we must follow that ''list'', there was also a boss figure to fight (two, even).
And finally, there's Luffy's promise to come back to the island with his crew so that everyone could meet them, which the anime expanded upon to the point where Luffy's going to look like a big jerk if he doesn't keep that promise (and also made it look like the love bug was contagious), since he actually talked about and named several of his crew members, and answered an affirmative when she asked if they really were going to meet them. Add to that a unique fighting style, and possession of Ambition, and there you go.
Now, there are some obstacles in the way, not the least of which being the fact that the story's moved away from Amazon Lily from now, but I'm pretty confident that they'll go back after everything's taken care of, both as a place to rest, and thanks to the anime's foreshadowing. I'm not exactly holding my breath over this, but I still think that, personality-wise, etc., that she'd make the best Straw Hat out of all the current characters that have been tossed around in here.
Wow, that turned out longer than I expected.
i have been noticing a kind of pattern in One Piece. Each character that joins is the strongest character not directly antagonist towards the straw hats in the arc s/he is introduced. The only exception kind of is Sanji with Zeff being arguably stronger but since he was handicapped we can't be certain. Margarete seems to break this pattern.[/HIDE]
@ AGOG
[HIDE]@AGOG:
In this sense, EVERY character shown in the new "location" that a main character is located at can join. Which is not a bad thing at all. This is because if we do not hold a starting spot, then there's no way to actually expect a character introduced with nothing being able to join, at that introduction since you assume that EACH INTRODUCED character holds what you state in your criteria. I disagree…
You seem to have misunderstood me, what I am saying here is that while any character has a potential to join the crew, few of them have enough known factors to be arguable. For example, suppose a character like Mermaid Princess who we know nothing about. If I am to argue she is the next crewmate and the following reasons.
She could have a dream.
She could be an excellent fighter while not being better then Luffy.
She could have a sad past.
She could be a lovable character.See all the "could's"? Here lies the problem. While she may very well turn out to be all these things and thus be an excellent nominee for crew mate however at the moment we have very little to argue over so we have to wait.
People, in the real world, they judge these things, not on what you "have", but on what potential you hold. So, in this sense, even if you cannot have the following few (not in terms of what I think, just an example…):
Character must be able to fit on the ship.
Character must have an occupation.
Character must be red.
Character must be good at fighting.
Character must have a dream.
So, let's assume we have "3" characters:
Is a green colored character, has a job as a mage, is 100 cm, and can fight. Dream is unknown.
Is a character without a panel appearance, but is said to have an occupation and is good at fighting.
Doesn't have a dream, and is not good at fighting, but has the other three.
In this sense, the only logical character that still holds the potential to join within this example is the character that basically has or has a chance to gain and acquire all of them: that would be character 2.Character one is not red, therefore, unless he changes colors, he cannot be that way... Of course, this says that the character has no reason to even join because they weren't shown being that color.
Character three holds no dream, therefore, since the character lacks one, he shouldn't join... Plus, the character needs to get good at fighting... Which is the more problematic issue.
Character two has yet to appear, but can obviously hold all of these indicated values and could become the next desired character.I agree out of the three nominees the character 2 has the most probability.
However, One Piece is not this simple. There are many characters which seemingly fail at one point or two but in actuality don't. Like for example my first point is "Must be a good guy". Robin seemed to fail this initially. So did Perona but now with her helping Zoro an unknown factor has been introduced meaning now we can say she is not purely evil as opposed to before. But to others like me this doesn't seem like a good deed so much as an act of selfishness etc. In short the points are not this simple and mostly arguable.
So, if we follow your method, then it means any character that can still gain them, but doesn't hold them yet, fails.
Fails at the moment! Can be nominated when more information is available.
Which is wrong. Therefore, the measure referred to as potential is far more important than the measure known as "failing" due to lack of potential.
What? Are you seriously suggesting a character whose lack of potential outweighs his/her potential is a likely candidate? If not then please elaborate.
Now, if we were referring to One Piece, the character Perona lacks nothing that cannot be introduced since she holds that position to acquire needed traits. She has nothing that prevents her from joining and that itself is a plus.
I am only suggesting that a character who has so much unknown can not be argued, its like saying someone who we have never seen has a chance of joining. It could happen, could not we have nothing to argue over either way.
At the moment what you are doing is trying to disprove something widely accepted as a fact like Perona is a bad person/ villain character etc. You are arguing that these facts may not be true hence Perona can still be a nominee. While I don't care either way and believe that your arguments of comparing her to Nami etc hold no weightage, what I am arguing is because we currently have very little information on this so called change of heart of Perona it can not be argued for/ against at the moment.
So, in this sense, I will basically not be "nice" and such, because I really am getting sick of reading stupid remarks from most people.
Not saying you, but just saying in general…
I don't agree with your method of predicting and debating on who the next member is, reason is that you aren't considerate of the "to be"/ "possible" variable yet to be shown.
I am considering all variables however the number of candidates with this "to be"/ "possible" variable are exponential. Coupled with the fact that you are trying to change the known facts to "open"/ "unknown" to support your arguments it just seems that a criteria for nomination must be established so that discussions may go more smoothly.
@kmohyudni:
Underlined: But that means any character that meets Luffy has a shot of joining his crew.
Yes, it is TRUE that any character that meets Luffy has a chance to join; CAN'T YOU SEE THAT WITH BROOK?
Of course you cannot make any magical deduction from this, but it shows HOW random this nakama stuff is and why any character gets a chance to join.
You should really read my whole post again. This was basically a deduction made from someone else post. Not my argument.
Bold: Perona and Crocodile can't join even though they have met Luffy?
It should be about them remaining in the story line and plot line, over "meeting" the character - if it was that way, then any past time character would and should just be expected to join… Idiotic.
Again read the post.
Contradiction?
Thats why there must be multiple rules. In my opinion Perona does not qualify to be nominated yet. Crocodile on the other hand is a definite no no.
See the first word?
How the FUCK can you disqualify an unknown VARIABLE…? It's like saying that the sea isn't blue because you are blind and you've never seen it...
It's like SAYING the world is flat and the guy that goes and finds it "round" is a lunatic.
That's what I call stupidity.
You CANNOT disqualify something that CAN EXIST in the future, remember this...
I am not disqualifying Perona as a possible crew mate. Here is what I said, "In my opinion Perona does not qualify to be nominated yet." See the "yet" at the end of this sentence? I am just saying that under the currently known information she does not qualify to be nominated unless more of her is shown.
Perona IS CONSIDERED because her fucking dumbass is in the PLOT LINE MAIN STORY WHATEVER YOU WANNA CALL IT.
She's with FUCKING ZORO standing there like a piece of shit.
Just because she is THERE makes her have as much chance to join as RANDOM NW PIRATE K that stands next to Luffy or WHITEBEARD or JACK-IN-THE-BOX 15 that stands next to Ace in the battle.
They all have a chance to join because they are still in the plot. Therefore, any RANDOM FUCKING GOOD FOR SHIT CHARACTER CAN JOIN.
But, by your own admission a character with more unknowns is more likely then a character with a couple of knowns that fail. Perona has a couple of those like her powers being broken. Her character being portrayed negatively except for the saving Zoro part. So how can a random character has as much a chance? Surely he is more likely…[/HIDE]

I was wondering… what good use, "ship-wise" is Perona?
Besides ordering Sanji around and/or raping Chopper? -

Besides ordering Sanji around and/or raping Chopper?Look-out with her ghost network.

I was wondering… what good use, "ship-wise" is Perona?
Besides ordering Sanji around and/or raping Chopper?I think Luffy has already all those he considers essential for a pirate ship. Navigator, cook, doctor, mechanic, canoneer, musician. That's why I doubt whoever he recruits next will have to fulfill a specific job assignment. Even having no good use "ship-wise" is no detractor.
Luckily Perona's power is lame and her chara design even worse so she'll never become the next SH.

-
I'd say she would be put in charge of ship morale
-
-
i don't see perona or hancock doing any work on the ship the come across more as spoiled brats the one spot up for grabs is helmsman
-
I think the best word for it is ''Reconnaissance'', but yeah. I really can't imagine Perona on the ship.. she's really mean spirited. I mean long before Franky joined he had that conversation with Usopp that showed his big heart. We haven't really seen that kinda thing with Perona but who knows….
-
Truthfully I've always thought of the Helmsman position being part of Franky's job as Shipwright. I think it is more likely that the next crew member will have a non-traditional job like Robin's position as Archaeologist.
Also I suspect Oda will introduce a new character for the next member as opposed to choosing from the ones currently available.
-
a helmsman would allow all the rest of the crew do what they do robin gardening, sanji cooking, franky building, usopp inventing, brook playing music, nami drawing maps, zoro working out, chopper doing medical research, and luffy eating
-
Truthfully I don't see how that's in any way, shape, or form an issue considering they've had more then enough free time to pursue their individual interests without a helmsman. It also doesn't really address the fact that steering the ship seems to be Franky's job these days.
At any rate we also have to consider that most of the standard crew positions (Navigator, Cook, Doctor, Shipwright) have been filled due to situations demanding these positions be filled. So far, we've yet to see any need for a Helmsman.
Will this change? Possibly, but I personally think Oda will go in a different direction for what is probably the last crew member.
-
we have already seen thing that require a helmsman such as serpent streams and we have also seen other crew have them like Jesus Burgess from the black beard pirates
edit you usually don't see franky steering it normally saji or nami
-
Perhaps I'm thinking more the anime then the manga in this case but I was fairly certain that Franky tended to sail the ship he built.
As to the Serpent Currents, they were apparently no trouble at all for whoever was steering to navigate and I can remember no instances where a specific helmsman was needed over whoever was by the wheel at the time.
Also, I never said that helmsman wasn't a position, just that the Strawhats didn't have any actual need for a crew member whose sole duty was steering the ship.
In the end this all just guess work of course and we'll see where Oda chooses to go eventually.

My problem with a mermaid is you would only know she is a mermaid when she is in the water any other time she would look like a human. Where a fishman will always knows he looks like a fishman
-
How will a Mermaid not look like a mermaid out of water? Have you seen Keimi?
-
because in order to be effective on an island she going to have to lose the tail
-
because in order to be effective on an island she going to have to lose the tail
She can't just "lose the tail." It happens with age.
-
which rends her useless anywhere other then the water and reverts back to my first statement once they lose their tail they just look like a human where a fishman always looks like a fishman
-

I was just pointing out you didn't say "when they lose their tails," you said when they're out of the water. There's a big difference.
-
We could have Ace joining, with some work with Franky he could become the ship's new "energy source" for all the special attacks.
There is also what I said here that everyone seemed to ignore :(
-
ace will more then likely takeover WB crew and go after one piece himself since that what WB wanted for him
-
Luffy's brother won't be joining the crew. Luffy would never invite him to begin with. "Ace has his own adventure to lead."
-
Jimbei and hancock will join the crew ! ;)
Jimbei's dream : peace between human and fishman
hancock's dream : End of slavery… -
Just throwing this out there, but how many people here would be satisfied if there were no more crew members for the rest of the series?
I would be OK with it personally, the crew right now feels very ''complete'' to me. What do you guys think?
-
Condoriano for next crew member :D
