What? Where was this?
In the back of the new SJ in the description for volume 28, it says "The pirate crew are on the hunt for hidden treasure in El Dorado, the lost city of gold.".

And to get January speed up volumes two weeks early would make one hell of a Christmas present. :D
Oh hell yes it would! Is this just wishful thinking or is it actually happening for you? If it's the latter, where could I get these early volumes?

Mostly wishful thinking. I've been lucky enough to get a few volumes a week or two early, but at my bookstores it's a pretty random chance. Lately they've been sticking more with release dates. But you can bet your ass that I'll be checking my stores almost daily come January.

I ordered through Rightstuf but no guarantees that you'll get them early.

Well like I said I'm ordering these through Rightstuf not a physical store. I ordered Volume 22 and 23 with the speed up volumes. I placed this order after 22 was released yet it still took a couple of days before it went from "On order from Manufacturer" (which means we don't have it right now) to "Reserved for your order" (which means we have you a copy just sitting here gathering dust ready to be shipped out at your command). Volume 23 however, is one week from being released and went from "On order from Manufacturer" to "Reserved for your order" about two weeks ago. As I'm sure all One Piece fans know by now, Rightstuf has a reputation for getting Funimation products early, so I'm assuming (from what happened with 23) they occasionally do the same with Viz. Because this only happened once I can't guarantee that I'll get the speed up volumes early, but I certainly hope I do.
tl;dr,-Yeah it's a lot of wishful thinking with a very small smidgen of support

…Viz... please Viz... I hope that's not what they're using in the chapters. Even they can't be that stupid.
El Dorado (Spanish for "the golden one")
el dorado is just a name for a city of gold whether they use it or not doesn't really matter as it means the same thing anyway
Shandora is the name of the city though. If they use El Dorado in place of Shandora then it would be bad.
My guess is that it will still be Shandora, but only after they find out it's name. Blue sea people will just call it El Dorado until then
@Elektrik:

That wouldn't be that bad, since "The City of Gold" legend in our world tends to associate itself with "El Dorado," but I hope it's not what the Shandian's call it.
Considering the many references to Shandora in the volume descriptions for Skypiea, and the catchup last month, it's already been confirmed they're using Shandora. They're just using El Dorado to reference the mythical city of gold.
Oh, then that's not bad, considering most English speaker would associate El Dorado with mythical golden city anyway.
I believe in one of the sum up pages in the Logs El Dorado was written. Can't verify till I get home.
Lol. I thought this El Dorado thing was old news. So old, it has no teeth.
Why do they change God to Kami in America? Are they not allowed to say God or something o.O? Is that the reason why god was called Kami in DBZ? I thought that was his name when I was young XD.

Maybe for religious censoring. Though Viz kept crosses, so it's beyond me. And God means Kami anyway, so…..

In DBZ Kami is his actual name.
It's not a censoring issue, if they used god in Viz Kids title they can use it in One Piece, it's just some weird naming decision Viz made.
In DBZ Kami is his actual name.
No, it isn't. He just forgot his name a long time ago, so the only way he can be adressed is by calling him "God" or "Kami", but that doesn't mean it's his actual name.
It is now.
i still don't like the idea of kami and vassals. the fact that he's claiming to be God isn't just a small detail, it's a major theme of the entire skypiea story.
Just a thought, but maybe he is still running around calling himself a god, but that Kami is the title of the position?
No? Wishful thinking? le sigh

Yeah, but you know what I mean :P.
That Eneru's a commie Kami!
Oh, Kami, could you all shut up?
Kami's a funny word, does anyone else think so?
Yeeaaah…
Kami is a funny word. I wonder if viz is using Kami just so they could attract some db fans
@dirt:
But VIZ rarely does footnotes unless it's for kanji in the artwork. Besides, the last time I saw a VIZ footnote that long, it was about the manji that a fishman was sporting. And it was still even longer than that.
I was re-reading YGO Duelist vol. 2 earlier today and they had a footnote explaining Takoyaki of all things.
They also use it all the time in Dragon Ball for terms like Taiyo-Ken and such.
im wondering now if Chapter 0 will ever appear in Shonen jump in the US
im wondering now if Chapter 0 will ever appear in Shonen jump in the US
Well they did put in that Bleach chapter that when together for the new movie that came out with so who knows!
Chapter 0 will probably be published if and when "Strong World" gets released here.
That Eneru's a
commieKami!
Only a kami would agree to such censorship! Red kami bastards. Wait…
Funimation will use "Sogeking" in the dub because the video is suppose to be unedited, and it says sogeking on the wanted poster. To use sniperking would confuse people. and a subtitle footnote would just be weird.
Yep, God and Sogeking are go for Funi. But hey, I just got Volume 23! As the last time I plan to ever complain about this: Fuck you Viz, and your little Zolo, too.
"Shove off" is kept (probably because Viz wanted the sailing reference more than anything), but the steam room scene is unedited.
Sniperking isn't that confusing : / But whatever floats in your head.
It's more contradictory if he's called one thing but his bounty poster says another.
A little disappointed in the art edit in Volume 23 for Roronoa Zolo, but I guess it's not really a huge deal. At least they didn't censor the bath scene at all.

What art edit? what did they edit
Just picked up the newest Shonen Jump.
What I liked: proper translations, the unedited hell of Impel Down (people being whipped, beaten with clubs, etc.)
What I didn't like: Boa Hancock's t-shirt censor. I know she's showing the goods quite vibrantly, Viz, but I hope you don't do that for the graphic novels. If you're looking to avoid the ire of a soccer mom, kids have far easier access to naughty pictures than a suggestively drawn character. Remember Jessica Rabbit? Argument over.
I was confused by: The "baptism" ritual. So their clothes are the only thing that get boiled? It would explain the lack of blisters and other skin anomalies you'd see from being put in boiling water. Perhaps the scanlators had this one wrong all along?

Judging by Volume 23's bath scene being uncensored (I believe it is, at least…), I doubt they'll censor Hancock's cleavage for the graphic novels.
I'm glad the bath scene is unedited…makes me think Amazon Lily and the bath scene at Thriller Bark will be unedited as well. I'm glad they won't be doing artwork edits.
As for that baptism scene, I think that was a bit of a mistranslation or at least a mix up...it's too minor and stupid to be an edit. I notice the dialogue is similar in the online translation, so I think it's just a mixup....I mean they wouldn't edit out a simple reference to being put in boiling water while the name hell, the sadistic attitude of Hannyabal, the other torture, etc. are all kept....so yeah I think that was just a minor mistake.

RAAAAGE I didn't get mine yet. Damn you B&N.
Good to know the bath scene is unedited, though. I'd be fairly ticked if it wasn't.
Hey guys I just got a confirmation from a friend of mine - the re-releases of earlier volumes are indeed omnibus volumes, NOT individual tankobans.
@Dixxy:

…Uh, hooray for consistency? I mean, sure, I have the individual volumes, so I have no reason to buy these omnibuses, but still, they already had the books individually, why not just put three books in a box and release them as-is? It's completely inconsistent, plus the spines on omnibuses tend to break very easily.

Damn it! I ordered it think it was three seperate volumes. Couldn't this have been said when they were announced?! >_< What a waste of money for me. And the cover is fucking ugly.
There's always buying them individually for more money. Lots of consistency there.
The Japanese publisher Shueisha is producing 2.85 million copies of the 56th volume of Eiichiro Oda's One Piece pirate manga — the largest print run that any Japanese manga has ever had in its first printing. The volume will ship on December 4. Since the manga began in Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1997, Shueisha has printed 176 million copies. The previous volume, volume 55, sold 1,487,845 copies in its first week and 1,720,884 copies in the first five weeks.
Viz Media publishes the manga in North America, and Funimation is releasing the television anime adaptation on DVD and via online streaming. The 10th theatrical anime film, One Piece Film Strong World, will open in Japan on December 2.
Um, thanks?
BACK TO ADVENTURE! I'm sure that Viz wouldn't be so asshole-ish as to censor the two bath scenes in the actual books. They pull some silly shit in the magazine (so I've heard) but the volumes have been picture perfect so far (barring Zolo and Roguetown). Plus, the worst part of the Thriller Bark bath scene was Absolom licking Nami, and I'd love to see them try to edit that out.
It's sad that viz stuck to so many 4kids terms, but don't stick with funi with sogeking and god
Everyone, send me your Obelisk the Tormentors.
